Bible Verse of The Day – 6-11-23 – A Different Place

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the wonderful name of our savior, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Have you ever been through changes in your life that left you in shock, feeling like your life has been turned upside down? Maybe you’re even facing something like this right now.

If this applies to your life, today’s video is for you.

In our new video, A Different Place, we teach about allowing God to walk us through changes in our lives, instead of trying to handle everything on our own.

Change, especially big change, can be difficult, but sometimes we make it worse than it has to be.

We hope you’ll give the video a watch so you can hear about making it less painful.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-23

Deuteronomy 32:4 (NKJV) 4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.

People may say, “how can we trust God?”. I ask, “how can we not?”.

There are two Hebrew words which are translated as ‘rock’ in English; Tsur and Sela. Both of the words denote more than just a rock. These both indicate a large immoveable cliff or boulder, sharp and strong, mighty.

When most people think of a rock, they think of it being strong, solid and unchanging.

2 Samuel 22:2 (NKJV) 2 And he said: “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer…

David called God his rock, fortress and deliverer because God enabled him to subdue his enemies and gave him victories in battles.

In this life we live, if we say we trust someone it’s because they have proven to us somehow that we can trust them. They usually have done something for us, or we have known them in such a way that we trust them in what they say or do.

If we don’t trust God, is it maybe because we don’t know Him?

How do we get to a point where we trust God?

We learn about Him, like anyone else we trust.

We watch, we listen, we observe. We will reach a place in our heart where we will say, “yes Lord, I trust You”.

It’s a decision that takes place in our heart.

He is perfect. He is just. He is a God of truth. He is righteous and upright.

Let Him show Himself to us in our personal walk with Him.

1 Samuel 2:2 (NKJV) 2 “No one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-5-21

Psalm 37:5 (NKJV) 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

Welcome to the final devotional in our mini-series covering Psalm 37:3-5. We hope it’s been informative for you so far.

Today, let’s take a look at verse 5.

Commit your way to the Lord; This is a big deal, and it runs a bit deeper than it might seem when we initially read those words.

On the surface, it appears to be saying that we need to dedicate everything about our lives to God, putting Him first in everything.

And while this is 100% true, there is more to it than that.

In order to understand this in its fullness, we need to know that the word, commit, literally means “to roll it over on”.

This means that when it comes to “our way”, the manner in which we conduct our lives and walk with Him, we “roll it over” onto Him.

We trust Him with it 100%, knowing that He is faithful to pick it up and walk with us through all that we do, all that we face, leading and guiding us every step of the way.

What an incredible picture of trust we see in this!

Now, what does the next line say?

Trust also in Him.

So, as we can see, trust is being established as the foundation for all of this. Without trust, nothing will happen.

It’s the strengthening of our relationship with God that helps build that trust. So be sure to set aside time each day to dig into His word and learn of Him.

And what does the last part say will happen if we trust in Him?

He shall bring it to pass.

What shall He bring to pass?

Two things; the desires of our heart will be given to us. And He will bring to pass the committing of our ways to Him, resulting in a rock-solid relationship that the devil and the world won’t be able to touch.

Trust in Him. Do good. Dwell in the land. Feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself in Him. Commit your ways to Him.

He will give you the desires of your heart. Amen.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this teaching series.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-4-21

Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Yesterday we discussed Psalm 37, verse 3. Today, let’s take a look at verse 4 and see what we can glean from it.

This is actually the verse I had planned on writing about when I sat down to write today. But when I saw the sum of these verses together, I thought it would be better to talk about all of them and break them down.

So, here in verse 4 we have a truth that we need to look at very carefully because it’s a message that we often hear, but only in part. Let me explain.

We frequently hear about God giving us the desires of our hearts, but we seldom hear it in its proper context and in its fullness, as intended by the writer of this Psalm.

Let’s face it. Having God give us the desires of our hearts sounds pretty enticing, doesn’t it? Who wouldn’t want that?

Well then, let’s look at what that really means in the context that it was actually written in.

The key to this is the qualifier in the first half of that verse; Delight yourself in the Lord.

You see, first of all, we need to make sure we’re delighting ourselves in the Lord, not in the world or in selfish desires.

We need to be putting Him first in all we do, with no self-serving motives or selfish ambitions. That’s the key right there.

As we grow in our walk with Him, we will begin to understand what He wants for our lives. Our desires will begin to change. We will begin to desire things that align with His will.

Truth and righteousness will become more prevalent in our lives. Worldly pleasures and desires will begin to fade into the background. His desires will become our desires.

It’s then that He will begin to give us the desires of our heart, because those desires are in line with the kingdom of God and His truth.

Do we want God to give us the desires of our heart? Then all we need to do is make His desires ours, and watch Him keep His promises, as He gives us those desires.

Join us again tomorrow as we wrap this up with verse 5.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-3-21

Psalm 37:3-5 (NKJV) 3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

These 3 short verses offer us an abundance of counsel and insight if we look at them closely enough.

Together, they give us a picture of a solid relationship with God, based on trust and godly desires. If we stick to these principles, we can never go wrong.

Let’s walk through each of them over the next few days so we can paint a picture of what they look like in our lives.

Verse 3.

Trust in the Lord; This one is pretty self-explanatory.

But learning to trust Him isn’t always as easy as we’d like to think. It takes time and effort to build a relationship with Him that results in greater levels of trust. Once we’ve built that relationship, the trusting part gets easier and easier.

Do Good; live righteously. Make wise, godly choices. Use God’s word as a guide to show us what He desires for us when it comes to the way we live our lives. Allow the Holy Spirit to order our steps each day, even minute by minute.

Dwell in the land; This one isn’t necessarily literally referring to dwelling in a physical land that God has chosen for us. But, instead, look at it symbolically and spiritually. God has “placed us” in His land by way of the blood of Christ. His land is a land of truth, trust and righteousness, where we look to Him for everything we need, knowing that He is faithful to supply those needs for us as we walk with Him daily.

Feed on His faithfulness; This goes hand in hand with the previous one, dwelling in the land. As we dwell in His land, we will be satisfied with His provision, as he leads us, cares for us and nurtures us.

Join us again tomorrow as we walk through verse 4!

Bible Verse of the Day – 2-1-21

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

I live in New England, where the winters are cold and snow falls from time to time.

I have lived here all my life. I was born here and have never lived anywhere else. So, you’d think that I would love the winters.

But I don’t.

Over the years, I have grown to despise the cold and snow. I very much prefer warmth over cold. I prefer to be able to go outside to walk, go fishing, spend time at the range practicing my shooting skills and enjoying the outdoors in general.

We have considered moving south, where it is warm all year. But we have never felt the release by God to do that. So, we stay put for now.

Today, as I write this, it is cold and snowing.

I find this oddly symbolic. Let me explain.

On this day, there is a very dark presence in the spiritual atmosphere.

That presence is strong. It is foreboding. It taunts.

It is the culmination of decades of activity by some very dark players, both in the natural, and in the spiritual realm.

This presence causes many to fall into despair and question the very foundations of their faith.

Now, let me get back to snow, and why I mentioned it earlier.

Even though I don’t like snow much, I see the snow that’s falling today as being very symbolic.

Snow is pure and it is white. It gives the colorless winter landscapes here in New England a fresh new look, covering up all of the gray, brown, dead-looking trees.

It’s like a sign of life and purity in the midst of a season of death.

You see, God has a way of speaking to us that we might miss if we’re not careful and vigilant to see it or hear it.

He is saying, “I’ve got this. This is not the end. It is the beginning. Follow me as I lead. Keep your eyes on Me. I will show you great and mighty things.”

We need to trust Him in all things, even when what we see with our eyes might not look the way we think it should.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-20-21

Psalm 146:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. 4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish.

Times of trials and tribulation can tend to cause us to reach out for inspiration, encouragement and hope from people around us.

And while there is nothing wrong with doing that to some degree, God ultimately wants us to look to Him for what we need.

Man will fail us. We will be hurt and disappointed by man. We will be betrayed by man. It’s just how it goes because man is frail and fickle, living by emotions and existing, often times, solely to satisfy self.

This is why it’s so important that we grow and build our trust in God.

Even though it can be hard for us to do this because of the disparity between spirit and flesh, it’s something that we need to determine within our hearts to do if we want to learn to live and walk by the Spirit, and not by the flesh.

Truth and the Spirit of God bring liberty. Flesh, and all that revolve around it, bring bondage.

2 Corinthians 3:17 (NKJV) 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-14-20

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Turmoil. Chaos. Trials. Tribulations.

These are all things that can cause us to start doubting God. These are all things that can cause us to want to take matters into our own hands and “fix” everything.

The problem with this is that most of the “fixing” we do only breaks things; the exact opposite thing we were hoping to accomplish.

So, how do we remedy this problem?

We do only what God tells us to do. We listen for His voice, then we do what He says. Nothing more. Nothing less.

It’s easy to trust God when the sailing is smooth. It’s easy to have faith in Him when we’re gliding through life with no major problems.

It’s a true test of our faith, though, when tough times hit and we feel like the world around us is crumbling.

How will we respond? Will we immediately jump into action mode, or will we pull back, get God on it and then act accordingly?

As with so many things, it is better to be proactive, not reactive.

How does that apply with regard to our walk with God and dealing with unexpected situations?

Here’s how. We spend the time and make the effort necessary to “shore up” our relationship with our Father on a regular basis so that our trust in Him is always “topped off”, not running on empty.

This way, when trials do hit, we’re not scrambling to hear God through the noise and the chaos that usually accompanies these kinds of situations. This makes it much easier to hear Him when we need to.

Now, don’t make the mistake of thinking that this means we should simply sit back when uncertain situations arise, waiting for God to fix everything. Not at all.

It does mean, though, that we take only the steps He shows us to take, not what our wild emotions tell us to do.

This is the difference between being proactive and reactive.

It’s not always easy to do this. But with time and effort on our part, we will get it after a while.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-11-20

Psalm 73:28 (NKJV) 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all Your works.

If you’ve been with us for any length of time, you probably already know that one of the biggest things we do is teach people to draw near to God and to trust Him with every aspect of their lives.

This is one of the most important things we can do as a believer.

Many people might not understand why this is so critical, so let me explain.

God is omnipotent (all-powerful). There is nothing that’s too big for Him. There is nothing that He can’t handle.

And He is omniscient (all-knowing). There is nothing that He doesn’t know. There is nothing that surprises Him or shocks Him.

We, on the other hand, are limited in our thinking. We are frail. We worry. We get stressed by things that we don’t know. And we become afraid of those unknown things.

Being close to God and learning how to let Him lead us helps to solve all of those weaknesses and frailties.

As we learn to trust Him, we begin to spend less time fretting over things that are beyond our control. We spend less time stressing over them. We worry less.

And we begin to understand that even when we might not necessarily see Him moving, He is working on our behalf behind the scenes.

This is the case for absolutely everything we will encounter in our lives.

You see, being a follower of Christ doesn’t mean that we’re promised a life full of massive blessings, nor does it mean that we’re promised a life free of trials and tribulations.

On the contrary, Jesus told us that trials and tribulations would come.

What sets us apart, though, is that we know the One who is above it all. We know Who holds us in His hands.

And being a child of God means that, no matter how dark times might get or seem to get, we don’t have to spend every waking hour worrying about the “what if” factor.

Yes, we are still human. So, our emotions will still pull on us, trying to get us to fear the unknown. But as we draw near to God, learning to lean on Him for hope and assurance, we will spend less and less time worrying, and more time letting Him lead us and show us the way to go.

Trust Him.

Bible Verse of The Day- 11-16-20

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Trusting God entails a lot of things.

First, it means that we not spend our time worrying and fretting about things that we might not understand.

Second, it means that we may encounter things that we may not understand in the natural, but that we rely on His Spirit to give us discernment and understanding in.

It also means that we watch and listen for His leading and direction in all things.

Nowhere, though, does it ever say or imply that we just trust Him, sit back and do nothing 100% of the time, expecting Him to do everything for us.

This is absolutely not true!

Trusting Him with all our heart means that we get His input and His understanding and then we let Him direct our paths.

That means that we have to do something!

You see, there will be times (most times) when we have to get up and walk out whatever it is that He shows us to do (directs our paths).

We have to take action! We have to walk out our faith in Him by doing whatever it is that He tells us to do.

So, it’s time, fellow warriors in Christ, to rise up!

Yes, we need to pray! Yes, we need to be sure to acknowledge Him in all our ways (everything we do)!

But we also need to let Him direct our paths and take action!
