Bible Verse of The Day – 8-10-23

Proverbs 28:13 (NKJV) 13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

Ignoring, stuffing down or hiding what we have said or done wrong will not help us.

It may take the sting away for a bit as we try to forget it, but peace comes only when we receive God’s mercy by asking for forgiveness.

If we don’t remain an open book with God, and be held accountable to Him, it will be easy for us to overlook the things we should be repenting of and coming clean from.

Whether we think our sin is little or big in God’s eyes, we must repent. Why? Because sin is sin.

We need to keep a remorseful mindset, knowing that God is holy, and that sin will put distance between us and Him if we don’t remove it.

As soon as we know or are convicted, we need to give it up and ask for forgiveness.

Walk away from those things that put distance between us and God.

Remember; covering up our sin will cause us to not prosper. But when we confess, He will show us mercy.

1 Chronicles 29:13 (NKJV)  13 “Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name.

Thank you, God!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-23

Luke 5:32 (NKJV) 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Who are the righteous?

In this example, Jesus was referring to those who are haughty and prideful, who think they don’t need God’s forgiveness, nor believe in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Thus, they remain arrogant, thinking they are better than everyone.

Who are the sinners? We are all sinners.

He has come to call sinners to repent and be saved. This was His purpose from the start.

He wants us to have a humble, repentant heart; a heart full of sincere regret and remorse for the things we have done wrong.

When our hearts are in a place of repentance, we will change. We will find ourselves getting serious with ourselves and with God.

We take off the blinders and look deep within. We open up and we are not afraid to admit the convictions we have at times, and our failed attempts to get them right.

It’s a place where everything gets real.

God will meet us in this place, and our hardness will begin to shed as we share our deepest secrets and allow Him to touch us through His forgiveness. This brings healing, deliverance and encouragement.

Matthew 3:2 (NKJV) 2 … “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”

It is good to have a repentant heart, to be real with God and to make things right.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-17-23

Mark 1:3 (NKJV) 3 “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight”.

Centuries ago, John the Baptist showed up and began preaching, preparing the hearts of the people for the Messiah; the One who was still to come.

John’s message was unique, something that was new; a message compelling people to be baptized unto repentance, for the remission of their sins.

Not long after, Jesus arrived and shared these words:

Mark 1:15 (NKJV) 15 … “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

John baptized unto repentance. Jesus told people to repent.

Now, thousands of years later, we want to share that same message; repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand.

We are not insinuating that the world is about to end, but that the world is definitely in a terrible state, and that it is largely due to sin.

The human condition has continued to decline. Increased sin is a sure sign of that.

We are calling the church to repentance on a large scale. It is crucial that the bride of Christ recognizes the season in which we live.

So, just as John the Baptist cried out in the wilderness, we too are crying out, “repent”!

As our recent video stated, many have left their first love. It’s time to return to the One who loves us so much that He gave His life to offer us redemption.

Come, church. Come back to Him and make Him your first love again.

“Make straight the way of the Lord”.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-14-22

Jeremiah 33:6 (NKJV) 6 Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.

Because of wickedness that took place in Judah, God hid His face from them.

How sad this is. I would never want this to happen to us, His people, today.

But if we look at our situation, and the state which we are currently in as a whole, we have to ask ourselves, “are we in a similar place?”.

How far away from Him have we strayed? Did we not take a stance on certain things when we should have?

Did we not push at all to get or do what was just and right, to keep God at the forefront of our country, of our home, of our church?

We cry out to You today, God. We need You!

After punishment and repentance, healing will come. God said to Jeremiah that He would rebuild them as they were before.

Jeremiah 33:7-8 (NIV) 7 I will bring Judah and Israel back from captivity and will rebuild them as they were before. 8 I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me.

We, the church, God’s sons and daughters, must act responsibly and enter into a place of repentance.

Just like Judah, our lands need health and healing. They must be cleansed from top to bottom from all sin, that He may forgive us for rebelling against Him.

And repentance is the key to it all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-23-22

Matthew 3:8 (NKJV) 8 Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance…

As I recently finished reading through the Old Testament, and began the New Testament again, this verse caught my attention.

The New King James (NKJV) translation, which is shown above, doesn’t really stand out or draw a lot of attention. But when I looked at a couple other translations, the depth and importance of this verse became very, very clear and easy to see.

Here it is again, but in the New Living Translation (NLT).

Matthew 3:8 (NLT) 8 Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.

This really leaps out when it comes to understanding what it means.

Now, because I don’t like to rely on only one translation for studying, I also checked two or three other translations, including the Amplified Bible (AMPC). Here’s what it said:

Matthew 3:8 (AMPC) 8 Bring forth fruit that is consistent with repentance [let your lives prove your change of heart];

In looking at this verse across the various translations, it becomes very clear that repentance is necessary in a believer’s life.

Repentance is the proof that our heart has been changed; we have been touched by the Spirit of God and changed by the blood of Christ.

You see, without (sincere, genuine) repentance, there is no difference between us and those who have never encountered Christ. We are the same.

The lives of believers should show fruit. And if we look at the verse at the very beginning of this devotional, we will see that the NKJV translation references this by saying, “bear fruits worthy of repentance”.

Our lives should bear fruit that proves that we have repented; turned from our sins and taken a new direction.

As the NLT states, “Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins”.

This is something that’s so important for us all to understand.

It is foundational to our walk with Christ.

And as the AMPC translation clearly states, “let your lives prove your change of heart”.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-22

Jeremiah 36:3 (NKJV) 3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the adversities which I purpose to bring upon them, that everyone may turn from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”

As I recently read this verse, I saw something that stood out to me in a big way, so I wanted to share it with you.

But before we dig into it, let me say something that’s relevant and important for us to understand.

The concept of repentance is an integral part of God’s desire for our lives. It is also a critical piece of the puzzle when it comes to our personal salvation.

Now, with that in mind, let’s get back to the verse at the top of the devotional.

If we look closely at the second half of the verse, we see that God tells Jeremiah that “everyone may turn from his evil way”.

What is He saying there? He’s talking about people turning away from their sins; repenting.

But then take note of what he says immediately afterward; “that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin”.

Keep in mind that everything that God has said in the last half of this verse is based on the very first part of the verse; It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the adversities which I purpose to bring upon them.

You see, God was using Jeremiah to warn His people that He was about to punish them for their sins by bringing “adversities” (difficulties, hardships, suffering) upon them.

It’s important for us to understand that repentance is taught throughout the entirety of God’s word, not just in the Old Testament. John the Baptist and Jesus both told the people to repent, as did the disciples.

On that note, look closely at what God said in the opening verse; that if the people would turn away from their sins (repent), He could forgive them.

The implication here is very, very clear; repentance is required for forgiveness.

So, we urge everyone to consider this very carefully. Never let anyone tell you that repentance is optional, and that God will forgive us for our sins simply because we ask Him to while still deliberately continuing in those same sins.

There are requirements on our part. And repentance is one of those requirements. It always has been, and it always will be.

Let’s be sure that we clearly understand God’s word, and that we live by it each and every day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-26-22

Mark 6:12 (NKJV) 12 So they went out and preached that people should repent.

Jesus sent out His disciples. What did they preach? Repentance.

Why? Because we all need this.

Repentance is the beginning of forgiveness.

How much preaching do we hear on the topic of repentance today? How many people do we hear and see repenting of their sins and getting healed or delivered from any kind of demonic spirits?

If there is no teaching on this particular subject, people will not learn the importance of repentance. And thus there are no healings, and no deliverance. There is no change.

Mark 6:13 (NKJV) 13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.

We, the church, are at fault for much of this, because we have neglected the teaching of repentance.

We need to repent and get back on track with the message God has for the world.

Matthew 4:17 (NKJV) 17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Our family, our church, our country and the nations of the world have forgotten this message and are suffering badly because we are failing to teach this foundational truth.

People are missing out on the freedom and victory this gospel message brings.

Repent.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-21

Luke 24:47 (NLT) 47 It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’

As I was recently listening to my Bible while getting ready for my day, I heard this verse and it stuck with me.

There were two key things that stood out. Let’s talk about them!

First, what initially caught my attention was the fact that the word, “all”, was used.

This means that “this message” mentioned here is for everyone.

There is nobody left out.

God does not discriminate against anyone.

This means that no matter what nation we are from, no matter what color our skin is, no matter what our income bracket is and no matter what skills or talents we have (or lack), God is not prejudice and He will not withhold His message from us because of these factors, or any others.

So, what is this message that He gives to us impartially?

That’s actually point #2 that caught my attention. It is this; “There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent”.

You see, forgiveness of sins is available to all. But there is a condition to be met. What is that condition?

Repentance.

The word says that forgiveness is available for all who repent! So, this means that forgiveness is not available to those who do not repent.

Ooh, this is something that’s pretty important if we look at it sincerely wanting to know the truth.

Sin separates us from God. It creates a chasm, a gap, between us and Him. And until we repent and ask for forgiveness, that gap remains.

That is not my opinion, nor the opinion of anyone else. It’s what God’s word says.

Sin is serious. It should never be whitewashed or sugar-coated.

Thankfully, God offers forgiveness. We just have to be willing to lay our sin aside, walk away from it (repent), and ask Him to forgive us for what we have done.

If we are sincere in our repentance, He willingly forgives us. It’s that easy.

It’s important for all of us to admit that we sin. Sadly, it’s part of human nature.

But God, in His mercy, has offered a way for us to be forgiven. It’s up to us to accept His offer.

We recently recorded a video on this topic. If you’d like to watch it, please click here.
