Bible Verse of The Day – 10-6-17

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Do you want peace of mind?

Does your mind constantly race with thoughts of “what if”? Do you sit and wonder how the situation you’re facing right now will work out?

Do you spend hours awake at night because you don’t know what to do about a problem you have or a circumstance you find yourself in?

Way too many people overlook the fact that God doesn’t just work on us to fix sin problems. He is also in the business of fixing the problems we have with insecurity, fear, apprehension, doubt and so many other mind-related problems.

God wants to help heal our minds and put them at ease, once and for all. He wants to teach us how to overcome our thoughts and our fears, not live our lives based on them.

Well, most of us love that idea, but we have no clue how to make it happen. We don’t know how to shut our minds down and stop them from racing all hours of the day and night.

We try so many different things to fix this problem. Some people try psycho-therapy. Others try medication. Others might even try drinking alcohol to “relax” them. But, we still find ourselves wrestling with our thoughts, and no peace comes.

The problem lies in the fact that we don’t recognize God’s sovereignty. We don’t understand that He wants to fix our lack of peace of mind by transforming our minds.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

All of the things mentioned above that people try to use to soothe their minds are the ways of the world. Some of them have some merit. But they will never bring true peace or contentment.

God wants to be the One to transform our minds; change the way we think. And this happens when we begin to trust Him with everything about our lives, not just a few select things that “seem spiritual”.

This is a process. It doesn’t happen overnight. It comes one little step at a time. It’s like a baby learning to walk. First, they learn to pull themselves up and stand while holding onto something. And then they take a step or two while holding onto something.

And then one day they take their first step without holding onto anything. And before you know it, they’re walking all over the house!

They will be a bit wobbly at first. And they will undoubtedly fall many times. But they eventually get the hang of it. And before you know it, they’re running!

Our minds are the same way. We have to learn how to surrender them to God, one little piece at a time. One step, then another, and then another. And before we know it, they finally “get it”. And then there’s no turning back.

Yes, we will fall down at first. Sometimes we will fall down a lot. But, with time and persistent effort, we will learn how to completely surrender our minds to God and let Him transform them.

And as we do this, we will find a new peace that we have never known before. And that peace will surpass all human, logical understanding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-8-17

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Where is all of our time spent? Is it at work or on work?  If it is, our relationships will suffer, along with other things.

If all of our time is spent on our family and relationships, instead of our other responsibilities, other things will suffer as well.

When things get out of balance we will feel like everything is chaotic. We lose the peace that God wants us to walk in, and that can cause misunderstandings with those around us.

Keeping things balanced will open the door to a peaceful atmosphere, both in us and around us. It is a learning process and takes action on our part.

Are we willing to learn? Are we willing to do what needs to be done to keep things balanced? If we can answer yes to this, then we will find a better way in this life than the way it has been going for us and our family.

Life is a funny thing. We all need to be taught how to live the way God intended for us to live. Even Adam and Eve blew it. But God did not stop life because of it. Instead, He made another way.

We shouldn’t give up on our family, and we shouldn’t give up on our work because things aren’t working out the way we thought.

Press in, and let God help bring a healthy balance to it all. And as we do, we will see and feel the peace of God surround us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-17-17

John 14:27 (NKJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Knowing what God wants us to do can sometimes seem complicated. For instance, do we stay on this job, do we move to another state, do we continue in this relationship, what career path do we take, or what church should we attend?

We all face decisions like this in our lives.

Sometimes we just know what to do. And other times it takes a bit to get it right. But it’s not about how long it takes us to get it right. What’s important is that we do ultimately get it RIGHT.

Getting it right has nothing to do with how our financial situation looks. It doesn’t have anything to do with what title we carry, how many people we have in our congregation or our church. It doesn’t matter how many employees we have or how large our business has become.

Getting it RIGHT means “how much peace do we have within ourselves when we make that decision?”.

Do we go to bed at night and sleep sound? Or are we tossing and turning and not sleeping at all because of all the worrying we are doing?

Unfortunately, this is reality. We all face it from time to time.

In each decision we make, having God’s peace should be the goal we aim for.

If we make a decision and have no peace about it, we are probably making the wrong choice.

When we are moving in the right direction, His peace will be with us even during times when it feels like everything else around us is in turmoil.

It’s God’s peace that helps us make the right decisions, helps us to sleep soundly at night and helps us to stop worrying.

Follow His peace.
