Tag: What the Bible says about God’s peace

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-17

Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

What is the peace of God?

Sometimes we can get confused about what God’s peace really is. Yet, the peace of God is very important to our lives as His followers.

God’s peace surpasses all understanding. That means that we can have peace and not even understand why.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

It also means that we can have His peace even though we might be in a situation that would normally cause us to be freaking out or fretting every second of the day.

The world can seem like it’s falling apart, yet we have a peace that can’t be explained.

God’s peace guards our heart and mind. It protects us from becoming completely frazzled by the things we face.

But let’s be very clear. God’s peace is not the same as having peace of mind. God can give us peace of mind, but His peace goes beyond peace of mind.

Peace of mind means that our mind has enough understanding to cause us to be at ease. God’s peace is quite the opposite!

Our human understanding can’t comprehend God’s peace. It doesn’t make sense to our minds. It isn’t logical.

But it’s 100% real!

So, how do we have God’s peace?

We draw near to Him. We press in and we learn of Him. We communicate with Him. We study His word.

We get so close to Him that we can hear His heartbeat. Just as the disciple who laid his head on the chest of Jesus, we need to be that close to God.

So, push aside the cares of this world and press toward Him. Do whatever it takes to reach Him. Make whatever effort it takes to push through the crowd, block out the noise and escape the busyness. And touch the hem of His garment.

It will be worth the effort when we feel His peace surround us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-4-17

Psalm 73:25-26 (NKJV) 25 Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. 26 My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Those busy seasons in our lives do come upon us at times. But if we spend the time we need with God, to sit, listen and rest, all that busyness won’t get to us.

You know that feeling you get  sometimes when it gets extremely busy? That overwhelming, get me out of here or I’m going to lose it feeling? God has a way of calming us right down and making that all disappear.

Just a little reminder today to make time for our MAKER. He will get us through it.

Our strength comes from HIM. Amen.

Happy day! You are loved and appreciated!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-26-16

John 14:27 (NKJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

There’s a lot of stuff happening in the world around us. Sometimes those things can cause us to get distracted from our relationship with God. They can even cause us to begin to question Him or feel uneasy, because maybe we don’t understand it all.

It’s important that we not let the things that are happening distract us from our walk with God or lose our peace. Because sometimes we can get so focused on the things that trouble us, our walk with God can suffer.

We need to remember that our peace doesn’t come from the world or from our ability to understand everything with our intellect. And we also need to remember that as we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. And, in turn, our walk and our relationship will grow stronger and our peace will grow as that relationship grows!

And, as our relationship grows, these other things will become less of a distraction and will no longer cause us to question God about so many things.

It’s not wrong to have questions. But we need to understand that sometimes there will be no concrete answers that satisfy our intellect. So we need to learn to hear God and seek understanding by His spirit.

And when we do that, we will have God’s peace; the peace that surpasses understanding.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-11-16

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

When we are walking in the things God has for us, there is peace. It doesn’t matter what is going on around us, peace will be the proof that we are where we need to be.

Peace is what helps us push through those things even when we are feeling exhausted from the journey.

Peace is what will carry us when we have no idea of WHAT to do other than to keep on keeping on.

Peace will help us smile, when we want to cry or be angry because of the pain we feel, or the scars we carry.

Peace is what will cause us to reach out to help others even when we need help ourselves.

May God’s peace be with us no matter what we are dealing with today.

We love you and our prayers are with you each day. God is faithful!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-22-15

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Understanding. It’s the key to so many things.

The verses above tell us to be anxious for nothing and to let God’s peace that surpasses all understanding guard our hearts and minds through Christ.

There’s some very important instruction for us here, especially when it comes to trusting God, even when we might not understand everything.

God tells us to have peace that surpasses all understanding. This means that despite being in circumstances or going through trials that we may not understand, we can (and should) still have peace, even in the midst of those seemingly-confusing things.

We may face something that seems truly hard to swallow in the natural; the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, a terrible disease in our life or the life of someone we know… there can be a huge list of things that we might face and that we don’t understand.

But, as we learn to trust God, He will give us peace despite the turmoil around us. We can have peace because of our walk with God and the assurance that we have that it’s all in His hands.

We don’t rely on the things of this world to give us peace. We rely on our heavenly Father, the creator of all we see.

And that is why it is called peace that surpasses all understanding.

So look beyond your circumstances today. Look past the chaos of the world. Look past the negativity of those around you. Look past the mockers and the naysayers.

And let His peace surround you and flood your soul.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-15-15

Romans 5:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Peace can sometimes be hard to find. Our world is so full of chaos and strife. It makes peace seem almost nonexistent.

But as followers of Christ, we don’t get our peace from the world. We don’t get our peace from other people. Our peace comes from God.

As we grow in Christ, we learn to trust God with everything in our lives, including those times when we are faced with unexpected, stressful situations. In the natural, it’s easy to get stressed and become frantic.

But if we walk by faith, we will learn to look past what we see in the natural, and see things through new eyes, in the spiritual realm. Learning to do this will help us to lean on God and trust Him, no matter what we face.

It’s not always easy to do, but as we grow and mature as a believer, it gets easier each time. Eventually, it become almost second nature. And as we get better and better at it, the hard things we face have less and less impact on us.

2 Samuel 22:31 (NKJV) 31 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Trust Him and let Him give us His peace.
