Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-19

Luke 21:4 (NKJV) 4 for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”

The widow in this verse had touched Jesus’ heart because she gave out of her poverty. Despite being in poverty, she honored God and she gave.

There are some today that don’t even give out of their wealth, let alone out of their poverty. Giving doesn’t enter their minds. They think their money is theirs, and they want it all.

A man that I looked up to at one time said to me, “tithing is only for the old testament days.” It sickened me to hear such a thing. This kind of talk will keep people in bondage.

If tithing is only for the Old Testament, why was Jesus so impacted by what He saw? Why would He notice such detail and effort on the part of this widowed woman?

Because He saw a willingness in her to obey, honor God, and do what was right. No matter what it cost, she was going to give. And yes, from her impoverished state, she gave her offering.

Obedience always moves God. It catches His attention and it causes Him to do the impossible on our behalf.

What are we waiting for today? Do we want to move Him? We can start with giving. Giving from our present situation.

Don’t wait until we have an abundance. And if we do have an abundance, make it count. Make it mean something. May we feel the sacrifice of it.

This widowed woman was in great need herself, but out of her poverty she gave to God first.

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-31-19

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

We recently shared in a video how God brought us through a season of famine that looked quite hopeless to us. We were struggling financially due to a factory closure. Our income had been severed and it left us in shock.

In the midst of that famine, though, God spoke to our hearts as we listened to a message about covenant. That day, we learned the importance of entering into a covenant with the Almighty, the Creator of everything we see.

And in the midst of our lack, we did just that; entered into a covenant with Him that would change our lives.

As we prayed over a massive pile of bills and repented before God for not putting Him first in our finances, He began to teach us and direct us. He also went to work on our behalf.

God began to show us favor in areas where we thought there was no hope or chance for favor. He began to show us that because we had chosen to give and to honor Him with what little we had, He would lead us out of the famine.

No, we did not come through it without wounds or scars. But we did come out of it with victory and changed hearts.

The key to all of this was one thing: giving.

As we gave, God gave back to us. He provided for us, He opened up opportunities for us, both financially and spiritually. And it was during this season of famine that he called us to lead, and to share His message with others.

We didn’t know at the time exactly how it would all play out. We just knew that things were changing, and that it was all by God’s hand.

Now, just over 20 years later, we live 100% by faith each and every day. God showed us that honoring Him with everything we have is the only way to live. And when we do this, He also honors us.

We no longer work corporate jobs. We work for God full time. And we rely on Him for everything we need.

He has brought some wonderful people into our lives who trust Him enough to sow into this work, making it possible for us to do what we do. And for that, we are eternally grateful.

We are in awe at how God provides for us, day by day. And for those who give, we offer a heartfelt “Thank You”. You are truly appreciated for your obedience to the Holy Spirit.

We love each and every one of you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-2-15

Mark 12:41-44 (NKJV) 41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

Giving is not optional, based on our level of income.

Many, many years ago we were going through a severe financial struggle. Part of it was due to over-obligating ourselves. The other part was due to the fact that the factory where I worked for 13 years had closed its doors and left me jobless.

Needless to say, the bills piled up pretty quickly!

We were not tithing at the time. We “couldn’t afford to” tithe. That was our logic. Until God got ahold of us and showed us the truth.

We heard a message about covenant and God heavily impressed upon us that we needed to enter into a covenant with Him regarding our finances. That afternoon, we piled our bills on our bed, repented and prayed over our bills. We asked God for His help and entered into a covenant with Him, vowing that we would tithe first, from everything that came into our home.

God heard us. He immediately went to work on our behalf. Long past-due medical bills suddenly had zero balances. Other bills were suddenly paid off for no reason. And our faith increased!

It took us 5 long years to get completely out of our mess, but God was with us every, single step of the way. We never went without.

And today we have learned even more about living in His provision for our lives. He amazes us every day, every week and every month. Our needs are met at every turn in the path of life.

Why? Because we put God first in everything, including our finances. Whether we have much or we have little, we give to God first. And He stands by His promise to us.

The widow in the verses above didn’t withhold giving because she had little, she gave in spite of her situation and her circumstances, and so should we.

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
