Mark 2:17 (NKJV) 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
My heart aches today for those who struggle with addictions.
We can think, “well, they just need to quit. They just need to stop doing what they are doing. We can’t keep being there for them if they won’t try to help themselves”.
Only God knows what they are going through.
I have seen people with addictions at their worst. And I have seen them at their best. They are two different people, like night and day.
It’s painful to watch someone go through withdrawals and the detox process. And it hurts to see them slip right back into it again after all that pain and struggling they went through to get it right. But we can’t give up on them.
They are addicted. They can not beat this on their own. It literally breaks my heart to see the demonic hold it has on them.
I pray today for those that are struggling, that they will turn to God, repent and ask for His deliverance.
God wants you to know you are not alone, and you should never try to break this addiction on your own. It takes the power and might of the name of Jesus Christ to break its hold. And don’t ever be ashamed to ask for help.
I don’t care how many times we slip up. Keep asking. We all have our things we are dealing with. Sometimes they go quickly and sometimes they take time.
God help us to love and help one another, no matter what our struggle is. Help us to never look down at anyone that is struggling with addictions.
Help us to be there for those who You put in our path; those that are sick and need a physician.
