Bible Verse of The Day – 12-14-13

Philippians 3:14 (NKJV) I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

We each have a goal. A single goal for our lives.

We may have lots of things that we need to accomplish while we’re here on earth, but in the end, we still have a singular goal.

Our goal, as followers of Christ, is to reach for the prize of the upward call of God, in Jesus.

So even though we have many earthly goals, our primary goal should be the upward call of God in our lives.

What is the upward call of God? It is that drawing of His spirit that calls us closer and closer to God. It is the pulling on our heart, by the Spirit of God, that causes us to long for Him more and more.

This is the upward call of God. This should be our ultimate goal.

That when we reach the end and we stand before Him, He will look at us and say “Well done my good and faithful servant. Well done”.

Be blessed in all you do and be strong in His power and might.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-18-13

Jude 1:20-21 (NKJV) 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Keep yourselves in the love of God.

Did you know that we are required to “keep ourselves” in the love of God? Many people might not think of this, mainly because there is so much teaching on God’s unconditional love. And while God does love us unconditionally, what Jude was referring to here is a bit different.

God loves us unconditionally, as we are. He sees us through the cross, not as the vile sinners that we are.

But what Jude was referring to here is how we, as followers of Christ, must keep ourselves close to God. He instructs us to build ourselves up in our faith, pray in the Holy Spirit, keep ourselves in the love of God and look for (trust in) the mercy of Jesus Christ as the vehicle for our salvation.

You see, it’s not that we must work to keep God’s love, but we must work to keep our love for God growing inside of us, so as not to let it fade away or die off.

There are so, so many things that can pull on us, moving us slowly away from God. And if we’re not careful, we will grow away from Him before we even know it’s happening.

We need to be diligent and keep our discernment razor-sharp so that this won’t happen to us.

Remember, God’s word says that if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. Our relationship with Him requires effort, and we will get out what we put in.

Press into Him.

We love you all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-22-13

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

So many times we hear this scripture quoted when someone is teaching about the fact that we have to have faith in order to please God. Today, though, let’s take a look at the last few words of this verse: “those who diligently seek Him”.

We can have faith. We can know that He is God. We can understand that He created everything we see.

But who does He reward? Those who diligently seek Him!

You see, we can have all of those other attributes. We can have a good knowledge of so many Biblical things. But if we don’t diligently seek God, yearning to know Him more intimately on a daily basis, we cannot please Him and we will not be rewarded.

God wants our all. He wants our heart… 100% of it. So if we truly want to be who He wants us to be, we need to do everything we can to build our relationship with Him.

This doesn’t mean we need to be more religious, spend more time in church, quote more scriptures or invite more people to Bible study. This means that we need to “press into Him” and seek Him with our whole heart.

Then we will know Him better and then we will be pleasing Him and then we will be rewarded!

Push all distractions aside and seek Him. It’s worth every bit of effort that it takes.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-13

(Hebrews 11:1 NKJV)  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

There are probably many of us reading this verse today who are familiar with it. Perhaps many of us have even heard many messages preached or taught using this verse.

Well, today is a good day to hear it again!!

Did you know that it takes faith to please God? That’s right! Without faith, it is impossible to please Him.

(Hebrews 11:6 NKJV)  But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Are we diligently seeking Him today? Or are we just hoping He will come through for us?

Diligent: characterized by steady, earnest, and energetic effort

We must be diligent and active in our faith! We must energetically pursue God, pressing in to know Him more intimately.

This is what pleases Him. So if you’re feeling like your walk with God is lifeless and passive, make a vow to breathe new life into it by passionately seeking Him.

Do this! Be relentless in your pursuit of Him and watch your faith grow to new heights.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-14-12

(Genesis 32:24-28 NKJV)  Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. {25} Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. {26} And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” {27} So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” {28} And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

Jacob wrestled with the angel of God. He spent his energy to prevail. He did not rely on someone else to do it for him!

Because of Jacob’s persistence, the angel blessed him. Had Jacob given up, he would never have received God’s blessing. He would have limped away with nothing more than what he had before, except a displaced hip socket.

We need to be more like Jacob and so many others in God’s word who struggled, wrestled and persisted until they heard from God!

It’s not always about getting what we want. More often, it’s about pressing into God and waiting on Him, not making any moves until we hear from Him.

We can’t rely on others to do this for us. We can ask others to help us learn, but when push comes to shove, we bear the responsibility of building our relationship with God.

Press into Him. Pull on Him. Wait on Him. Do whatever it takes to know Him better and walk more closely with Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-31-12

(Mark 5:27-29 NKJV)  When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. {28} For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” {29} Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.

Sometimes all it takes is for us to press through. This woman pressed through the crowd of people, made her way to Jesus and touched His garment. She was immediately healed!

This is for those today that have been expecting something to happen for a while now. It’s not time to give up because you haven’t seen it yet.

The woman above woman was in this condition for 12 years. But it took her pressing through the crowd to get to the answer!!

We need to press in further if we have not received our answer yet. Get in God’s word and get still with Him. Let Him show you what other changes you may need to make. Let Him show you what else it will take for you to receive your victory.

Press into Him today and reach out and touch His garment…your breakthrough is coming!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-4-12

(Mark 2:3-4 NKJV)  Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. {4} And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying.

This story is just one example of the great lengths that people would go to in order to get to Jesus to seek healing, deliverance or forgiveness. They let nothing get in their way.

Today we have it so easy. We have the gospel so easily accessible to us. Sometimes it can make us lazy and cause us to forget how much Jesus is worth in our lives.

Even though we can’t physically touch Him, we still have the same access as the people who walked with Him. In fact, we have more!

He left this earth and passed His authority along to His followers. His death tore the veil that separated us from having direct access to God and after He ascended, the Holy Spirit came to earth to help, guide and comfort us.

We have it all!

Press into Him and receive what it is that you need in order to get your victory!
