Bible Verse of The Day – 8-27-14

Proverbs 22:4 (NKJV) 4 By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life.

Humility. It’s something that’s talked about and taught throughout the Bible, God’s word.

Being humble is very often misunderstood. Humility has nothing to do with our physical size, personality type, financial status, how big or small our house is, what kind of car or truck we drive, whether we own a boat or not or where we live.

It has everything to do with our heart. And what’s in our heart will show in our attitude.

Being humble means that we don’t know everything. We can be taught or corrected without thinking we always have the answer. Sometimes we might have the answer, but we may still be better off to listen to someone, rather than prove that we’re right.

Being humble means saying we’re sorry when we’ve done something stupid. It means that we take responsibility for the mistakes we’ve made and we don’t try to pass the blame onto someone else, even if they have made mistakes too.

Being humble means that we come before God with our heart soft and broken, willing to listen to Him and accept admonishment for our mistakes. It means that we listen to Him and then we do what He tells us to do, without questioning Him.

Humility is the foundation of our walk with God, because being humble means that we recognize Him as the Head of everything we do in life.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-11-14

Micah 6:8 (NKJV)8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

So what does God require of us?

To do justly – do the right thing; the thing that pleases Him.

To love mercy – to learn to show mercy to others, just as He has shown mercy to us.

To walk humbly with your God – humility is the key to a successful relationship with our God. If we can learn to humble ourselves before Him, there will be nothing that stops us from pressing into Him and learning to love Him with our whole heart.

Humility is also the key to successful relationships of every kind, whether it be your marriage, your career or anything else. If we can be humble, admit when we’re wrong, heed counsel and correction and learn to listen to others, we will go very far.

Do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.

Enjoy your weekend.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-14

James 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Pride and humility. They are two exact opposites. And a large segment of the church seems to have gotten caught up on the wrong side of the fence during the past few decades.

We know this because we have seen it, and the fruits of it, in our own lives. God has shown it to us and He has been working diligently, skillfully removing it with the precision of a surgeon.

Pride can creep in ever so subtly. It can come in disguised as a million different things that look so good on the surface. But in the end, pride will destroy us, slowly, a little tiny bit at a time, until we are devastated and left empty-handed.

Pride is being propagated throughout the body of Christ in many ways, by many different teachings. The “Prosperity Gospel” is one of the biggest culprits, but there are others too. And as followers of Christ unknowingly become followers of “other gospels”, pride can creep in and sweep us away.

We implore you today to ask God to show you where you may have become prideful. Let Him show you where pride has crept in. And then let Him do what needs to be done to remove it from your life.

Do it now, because the longer you wait, the harder and more painful it will be to root out and get rid of.

God is the ultimate surgeon. He knows how to remove what isn’t good for us and then heal us afterward.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-27-13

Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride. We all wrestle with it at one time or another in our lives, in many different ways.

For some of us it might be worrying about our appearance. This might mean our physical appearance with regard to how our hair looks or how our clothes look, or even how our body looks.

For others it might be regarding how they appear to others in society… do they appear to be well off financially, or do they have certain things to give them social status, such a s a nice car, nice house, etc.

These are usually the most obvious things that are more outwardly visible. But the very worst kind of pride is the kind that hides itself deep inside of a person, where nobody can really see it. It sneaks up on a person and takes hold of them from the inside, out.

After a while, that pride swells into haughtiness and arrogance. When this happens, a fall of some kind is sure to happen. As a child of God, pride cannot be left to live in us or rule over us. God won’t leave it unchecked in us for too long before He starts to tear it down,

God wants us to be humble. Humility is a godly trait. His word is full of examples of humble people being used and haughty people being taken out of their positions or caused to become humble through their circumstances.

James 4:6 (NKJV) But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

We want to encourage you to check your heart today. Let God shine his light into the very deepest recesses of your heart and show you what’s there. Is pride of any kind lurking there, waiting to eat you up and cause you to fall?

Let God root it out and set your feet on solid ground so that you will stand and not fall.

We love you all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-17-13

(1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV)  Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, {7} casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Humility: the quality or state of not thinking you are better than other people.

Humility is such an important character trait, but it can be so hard to achieve in so many ways.

It seems that just when we think we’re being humble, God comes along and shows us how prideful we are.

Most of us would never think or admit that we are anything less than humble, but pride can creep into our lives in so many ways.

Want to know the best way to become humble? Serve others. Serve others who are in need. Spend time helping someone in trouble. Spend time doing things for people who can’t do for themselves.

Go to “the least of these” and be their hands and feet. When someone seems like they might be less than you in any way at all, put yourself in their shoes. Take the time to learn how they got to where they are. Sometimes hearing other people’s trials and struggles is very humbling.

There is never a lack of needs. Find someone in need and help tend to them. Get God on it. Let Him direct you to those He wants you to help. Sometimes it’s the ones who don’t ask for help who need it the most.

(Matthew 25:35-40 NKJV)  “{35} ‘for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; {36} ‘I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-1-13

(John 13:14 NKJV)  “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

Jesus is showing us here how to remain great in the kingdom of God, by serving one another.

Jesus, God’s Son, the Messiah, the Christ, sat the disciples down and washed their feet. He could have just talked to them about it like in many of His teachings, but this one, He wanted to physically show them.

By doing this, it helped them to understand that no matter who we are, what position/title we hold, or whether we have the  I, II or III after our name, it doesn’t matter. We are to serve. He says if I, your LORD and Teacher can do this, we all should do it too.

Remember this example that Jesus has set for us, knowing there is no haughtiness, no pride, and definitely no arrogance in HIM.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-13

(1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV)  Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, {7} casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Humility is a very important part of being a child of God. It’s not always an easy thing, but it’s critically important.

There are many benefits to being humble and there are many different aspects of being humble. What we’d like to share today deals with casting our cares upon Him. This isn’t taught very often from this particular point of view, but it needs to be!

So what does casting our cares upon Him have to do with humility? Everything!

If we cast our cares upon Him, we do so because we have humbled ourselves enough to admit that we don’t have the answers. We have reached the end of our plans, our ideas, our schemes and even our intellect.

Now… what does His word say about humility? It says that He gives grace to the humble and He opposes the proud.

(James 4:6 NKJV)  But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

So if we’re proud, we’re already fighting a losing battle because we’re fighting against God.

If you feel like you’re backed into a corner right now and you have no answers, maybe that’s not such a bad place to be, despite how it might feel. Because now that we have exhausted our own ideas, maybe we will let God step in and do what He wants to do with us.

Cast your cares upon Him today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-4-13

(Luke 7:28 NKJV)  “For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

This verse tells us how God feels toward us. God is not partial to how much we have done, how much we know, how much we give, how many titles we have in front of or after our name, what bible school we attended, what denomination we are involved with or how much money we have in the bank.

This scripture tells us how great John was as a prophet. Jesus knew John and the things he had done, but it did not make John any greater than another.

It’s a great blessing to be walking in the call of God and giving Him our all, but we need to be careful not to let it go to our heads. Be careful not to let pride sneak in, causing us to think we are the elite group or PERSON.

This is what religion will do to us if we are not careful, causing us to do more harm to the Bride of Christ than good. Relationship with Christ, not religion, will keep us humble.

Continue to shine and let God lead you each day, remaining humble and on fire for HIM!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-12

(John 13:14 NKJV)  “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”

Jesus was the son of God. He was God in the flesh, here on earth. He was and is above all men.

And yet, in spite of this, He washed the feet of the disciples. He humbled himself, poured water over their feet and washed them.

How many of us would do this same thing? How many of us would humble ourselves, kneel on the floor, or on the ground, and wash the feet of someone… maybe even someone we don’t know very well?

Humility is a hard thing for some of us. Being humble enough to wash someone’s feet is even harder. But there is something strongly symbolic about the washing of another person’s feet.

Most of us like to think of ourselves as being humble. We never want to think we’re proud. But if God prompted us to wash the feet of someone would we do it? Would we be able to get down on the floor and wash the feet of another person?

This is a great test for all of us. Consider it and ask God to show you your heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-8-12

(James 4:10 NKJV)  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Our prayer today is that each and every one of us will do just this.

Humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord; It simply means to give Him our lives. Give to Him what bothers us, what eats away at us, what pulls on us, what causes us to worry, etc.

Humbling ourselves means to let go of the ways we so want to do things and let God do whatever He wants in us and through us, by changing us and making us HIS!

So many times I pray “God, let Your will be done”. But let me say this, sometimes when it comes right down to it, I don’t always mean what I’m saying. I don’t always like His will and the way He wants to do things. That is where I must humble myself and do it His way in spite of what I think or feel.

Jesus said it Himself before being crucified, (Luke 22:42 NKJV)  saying, not My will, but Yours, be done.

Let us come humbly today and let Him lift us up.
