Bible Verse of The Day – 12-13-14

Psalm 73:28 (NKJV) 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Your works.

We have people ask us frequently how they can know God’s purpose for their life, how they can hear God’s voice, how they can have sharper discernment and many other questions that are similar.

Our response is always the same; Draw near to God.

You see, we can pray and ask God for sharper discernment, a closer walk with Him, stronger faith, to hear His voice more easily, and much more. But if we fail to draw near to God and grow our relationship with Him, we’ll never, ever be able to hear Him better or have better discernment.

Achieving any of the things mentioned above requires that we have a strong relationship with our Creator. It’s just like any other relationship; we get out what we put in.

Drawing near to Him takes effort and needs to be done on purpose. It doesn’t happen accidentally or just by wishing it would happen. It’s just like anything else that’s worth achieving or obtaining. It takes work!

You can’t get sharper discernment by having someone lay hands on you and pray for you to have it. You can’t draw closer to God by calling a prayer line and asking them to pray for you. You can’t find God’s purpose for your life by taking 5 easy steps. And you can’t grow your faith simply by saying that you want your faith to grow.

Purpose in your heart that you want a closer walk with God. Make it your desire to know Him better. Push aside every distraction and focus on Him. And do you know what will happen when we do that?

We will get closer to Him. Our faith will grow. Our discernment will become sharper. We will hear His voice more easily. And with all of this, we will begin walking on the path that God has set in place for us.

We can all have a powerful walk with God. We just have to want it badly enough to go after it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-5-14

Proverbs 2:3-5 (NKJV) 3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, 4 If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

Discernment.

With it, we make sound choices and follow the straight and narrow path.

Without it, we make poor choices and our feet stray from the path that God set them on.

A question we get asked frequently is “how do I get better discernment and know when God is speaking to me?”.

Our answer is always this: “Spend time with God, in His word, talking to Him and then listening for Him to speak to you. Draw close to Him. Create a clean atmosphere in your home where God’s spirit can dwell and is not grieved. And press in to Him, putting Him first in everything.”

As you do these things, your ability to hear God’s voice will increase, which results in much sharper discernment.

It’s not something that happens overnight. It takes time and it doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because you pursue it on purpose.

And what’s even better is that God gives discernment to anyone willing to submit themselves to Him. It’s not something that’s only for “special” people or people in leadership positions.

So cry out and ask God for discernment and find the knowledge of God.
