Bible Verse of The Day – 10-11-14

Proverbs 4:26 (NKJV) 26 Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.

God has a path for each of us. As we follow Him, He establishes that path and teaches us how to walk on it.

The closer we get to God, the more clearly we can see that path. And as we see that path more clearly, we enjoy walking on it more and more.

Sometimes we tend to take our eyes off the path that God has set before us and we start looking at other people and the path that they are on. And before we know it, we’re trying to walk on their path instead of our own.

This is very detrimental to our walk with God because as we follow someone else’s path, we actually get further from God instead of closer to Him.

So when God sets your feet on a path, stick to it! Don’t waste your time and energy trying to walk on someone else’s path or follow their call. It won’t get us anywhere if we do this.

God knows us better than we know ourselves, so when He places us on our path, it’s because He knows what’s best for us and what He wants for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-1-14

Luke 22:42 (NKJV) 42 saying, Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”

Jesus’ prayer to the Father was “not My will, but Yours, be done”. Jesus humbled Himself under the Mighty Hand of His Father and obediently followed Him in every step. He was perfect in every way and did exactly what God had for Him to do.

There are going to be times when we will have to humble ourselves and do what God is asking us to do versus what we would rather be doing. It may be unfamiliar territory and very intimidating at times, doing what God asks.

Will we humble ourselves and do it anyway? This is a decision we will have to make. God will not force us to do things His way, but He will show us the right path to take and leave it up to us.

If we choose to follow His plan, trusting Him, He will be right there helping us, guiding us, encouraging us, comforting us, strengthening us, and providing for us. We won’t be alone.

When we follow God’s plan for our lives, we come out victorious!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-22-14

(Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV)  “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

God knew Jeremiah; He had a purpose and plan for his life. There is not one of us that He does not know. It’s up to us to get to know Him and find out His purpose or plan for our life.

When we become His child through salvation, we are made new. We are born again; a new person, with a clean slate.  It’s the beginning of our walk with God no matter what our age is.

One of the questions we need to ask Him is, “what is it Lord that You would have me to do and where do you want me to be”? And we need to remain patient, letting Him guide us, train us and make us into the person He wants us to become and prepare us for the things He wants us to do.

Being responsible, dedicated and trustworthy may sometimes mean giving up doing some things that we’d rather be doing, for the sake of what God has for us to do. It involves waiting on His timing, and waiting for the door to open for whatever it is.  It can be very humbling, but very fulfilling!

When we are doing what the Lord wants us to do, there is peace.

(Proverbs 16:7 NKJV)  When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-7-14

Titus 2:11-12 (NKJV) 11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age…

Have you ever wondered how to please God, or how God would like us to represent Him in this world?

The two verses above put it all together in a neat, tidy little package.

This small tidbit of wisdom from God’s word can be a real challenge for all of us at different times, no matter how righteous we might think we are. But we can do it by sticking close to God and paying attention to what the Holy Spirit tells us to do or not to do.

The easiest way to do this is to move slowly and cautiously in everything, being careful to obey God’s leading.

If we do this, it will be much harder for the enemy to fool us or lure us into his traps.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-7-14

Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

We are His workmanship.

God created us. And He did so with a purpose for each and every one of us.

We’re not here just to wander through time and leave here at the end of our lives with no legacy.

We have been placed here, ordained by God, to walk out His will for us on the earth. So what is His will for us?

That we would walk in the good works that he has prepared for us beforehand.

Once we understand our fallen condition and recognize our need for a Savior and act on that need by accepting the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross, we are now in Christ Jesus, as the verse above mentions.

It is then that we begin our journey, walking on the path that God prepared for us. It is then that we begin showing the world who God is through our good works, letting God’s love shine through us and onto those around us.

So remember. We are His workmanship and were created with a purpose. Let’s walk in that purpose.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-28-14

(John 5:19 NKJV)  Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

Notice how Jesus only did what He saw the Father do?

The things that God wants done, He will show us. This means we don’t just do whatever we want, whenever we want just because maybe we’ve seen others do it. If we’re not careful we can develop a “one way of doing it” attitude and fall into the trap of doing things a certain way just because it’s what we’ve seen before.

We need to learn to wait on God for His guidance and direction in matters. He may direct us about a specific timing. Or He may give us instructions about a certain tone to use, or it may be a boldness, or maybe a softness. It could take time praying it through, etc.

We just don’t know what a situation may involve. But, as we pray and walk closely with God, He will lead as to how handle the things He wants us to deal with. We should never just guess at it. We follow God, and He will lead us. If He’s not showing us anything, we shouldn’t just make it up as we go.

Jesus saw what the Father did, and He did things in like manner. We all need to follow His example if we want to see miracles, have breakthroughs and walk in VICTORY!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-18-14

(2 Chronicles 31:21 NKJV)  And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he prospered.

Hezekiah prospered because he sought God in all that he did, with all of his heart.

Hezekiah was a King and he had to choose how to rule the kingdom. He chose to seek God and do it His way. He did it with all his heart. What does it say happened? He prospered.

God did it for Hezekiah, He’ll do it for us.

(Acts 10:34 NKJV) Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.

When we choose to seek God with all of our heart in all that we do, He will show us how and what to do in our situations today. We too will prosper!

Seek God with all our hearts in all that we do today. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-30-13

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The renewing of your mind. What is that anyway?

It’s the key to our walk with God and how He can use us in this world we live in.

As followers of Christ, our minds shouldn’t be the same as they were before we knew Him. Our old minds used to think a certain way. They processed carnal thoughts and had no idea about spiritual things.

We functioned solely by intellect and logic. But that was before we knew the truth. Now that we have embraced the Truth, our minds have been renewed, just as we have become new creations in Christ.

So what does that mean? It means that we should now be led by God’s spirit, not by our carnal, intellectual or logical thoughts. It means that everything we do should be gaged by whether it lines up with what God says or not.

This doesn’t mean that we throw out common sense, but it does mean that sometimes God will have us say or do things that just don’t make sense to your heads. Sometimes He will have us do things that people will look at us a little funny for doing, because it won’t make sense to them.

But that’s OK. If our minds have been renewed and we are following God’s leading, we don’t need to worry about what others think.

It’s what God thinks that truly matters.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-21-13

(Mark 10:21 NKJV)  Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”

One thing that stood out to me in this verse was the very fact that Jesus LOVED him. Then He gave him the answer to his problem. He told the man the one thing he lacked, and what would help him.

I know it’s hard sometimes to hear the answer that Christ has for us. That’s why we don’t always want to run to Him, or be around those that we know are going to give us the right answer, the God answer!

Instead, we will go out of our way to find someone that will agree with us and make us feel better about what we are doing, saying, or acting like, etc. You know… the answer that will allow us to keep doing what WE want to be doing.

Jesus tells this man what he needs to do; He told Him what He needed to hear. Why? Because He loved him! He left it at that, for him to make the right choice.

Today, if Jesus is speaking to you, get the answer He has for you and run with it. It may not be what we want to hear, but know that the One that gives it loves us.

He’s not out to hurt us, take away our fun, our dreams or our goals. He just simply knows what’s best.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-9-13

2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NKJV) 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

The verses above have a very broad implication, especially with regard to end times teachings.

Today, though, we’re going to look at them on more of a personal level. We’re going to take a look at how they can apply to each and every one of us, either directly, because of behavior in our own lives, or indirectly, due to someone that we know who may be in this boat.

So what does it mean to “heap up teachers for themselves”?

Basically, it means that if we’re having troubles or struggles in our life, instead of seeking out sound counsel, we will look for people who will tell us what we want to hear, either to make us feel better about ourselves, or to try to justify something that we’re doing that we know deep down is wrong.

This doesn’t always mean that we’re doing something immoral or unethical. It just means that we’ve strayed from the path that God has set before us and we’re doing what we need to do to avoid getting back on that path.

Now, if this applies to us, we simply need to own up to it and let God show us where we need to be corrected. But if it’s someone else that we know, let’s be careful not to judge them or throw stones at them!

So let’s not heap up teachers for ourselves. Instead, let’s incline our ear toward God and let Him speak to us and teach us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-3-13

(1 John 2:16-17 NKJV)  For all that is in the world; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life; is not of the Father but is of the world. {17} And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

There are three things that we need to watch out for, 1. lust of the flesh, 2. lust of the eyes, and 3. pride of life. God’s word tells us that these three things are NOT of Him, but of the world. If we chase after these things of the world, the next verse (17) tells us that the world is passing away.

What happens if we are chasing after anything in general? It means that the thing we are chasing is leading us. It leads us to wherever it is going.

Passing away is another word for death. So where will these three things lead us to? To death; death in our relationship with Christ, death in our relationship with our spouse, death in our relationship with our family, etc. Death means, the END!

But thank God for the last part of verse (17) it explains to us that if we follow God and His Word, we will abide forever! Amen.

Today, let us choose His will over what the lust of the flesh says, over the lust of the eyes, and over our pride, that we may abide FOREVER!
