Bible Verse of The Day – 7-1-24

John 4:21 (NKJV) 21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.

The time Jesus spent speaking with the woman at the well is something we hear a lot about.

It is a well-known sequence of events that is significant in many ways.

As I was recently reading and pondering, something struck me about this event that had not been so obvious to me until now.

While we often speak of Jesus revealing things to the woman about her life that only God could have known, or we speak about the water that keeps us from thirsting again, look what else He said.

In the verse above, Jesus began alluding to things that were going to change and had, in fact, already begun to change.

There was a shift taking place that had gone undetected by most people.

John 4:23-24 (NKJV) 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

You see, Jesus was revealing that the traditional ways of doing things were fading away, and that God wanted the people to understand true worship could only happen in spirit and in truth.

Rituals and traditions were dead and meaningless. The hearts of the people had grown hard and mechanical in their interactions with God. They relied only on their human understanding and routines, leaving their spirit out of the equation.

Jesus had come to open the eyes and the hearts of the people. And as He walked the land sharing truth, the things He taught stirred up anger in the Jewish leadership because those things were contrary to their traditions.

And because of this, many of them hated the One who had come to save them.

God does not want traditions and rituals. He never did.

The guidelines He set for the Jews became idols that they prided themselves in following. The very things designed to point them to the one, true God became their god without them realizing it.

And as Jesus spoke in ways that exposed their true hearts, He was hated, persecuted, and crucified for it.

Let us not be like the Jews of old, falling into habits, routines, and rituals in our walk with God.

We must let Him touch our hearts, transforming them and keeping them soft and pliable, that we not let our practices become our god.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-4-23

Isaiah 29:13 (NLT) 13 And so the Lord says, “These people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. And their worship of me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote.

As God spoke to Israel through the prophet Isaiah, He warned that, despite the Israelites saying they belonged to Him, their hearts were far from Him.

He (God) went on to say that though they honor Him with their lips, the reality of it was that everything they did, including their worship of Him, was little more than man-made rules and rituals learned by rote.

If we were to look at the Greek version of this text, it would state, “Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God”.

It is important that we understand what all of this means to us as followers of Christ.

To do that thoroughly, we need to look more closely at the word, “rote”.

If something is done by rote, it is done mechanically, mindlessly, from memory, by heart, out of repetition. It means nothing to the person carrying out the act. It is empty and hollow.

When we serve God, He desires that it be from our heart; sincere and genuine.

Anything less than this is not true worship or true service at all.

And in reality, this type of service or worship does nothing for us. It only satisfies a fleshly desire to fulfill an obligation.

Everything we do in our walk with God should be led by the Holy Spirit.

Why?

Because God is Spirit. He will not interact with us or accept anything we do by our flesh.

Jesus stated this plainly when He spoke the following words.

John 4:24 (NKJV) 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Another scripture tells us further that true sons (and daughters) of God are led by the Spirit, not by the flesh.

Romans 8:14 (NKJV) 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Our rituals and habits do not please Him. Even more, they do not give Him the honor and glory He deserves.

Let us live, move and serve God only by the Spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-5-22

Jude 1:25 (NLT) 25 All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are His before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.

The immensity of God is breathtaking, to say the least.

Words can do little or no justice to who He is and what He does.

This sometimes makes it so very hard to accurately convey certain things when it comes to giving Him proper honor and glory.

Nonetheless, He is still worthy of our (mostly feeble) attempts at glorifying and worshiping Him. That is, after all, what we were put here on earth to do; to bring glory and honor to His name in the earth.

But how do we do that? How do we worship Him in a way that’s even close to being worthy of glorifying who He is.

Well, the short answer is that we really can’t. Nothing that we do could ever begin to elevate Him to where He belongs.

But the good news is that He isn’t concerned with any of that. He’s not interested in fanfare, hype, showmanship or anything similar.

What He is interested in is us expressing our heart to Him without any inhibitions about how it might sound or appear to others.

We are not in it for the sake of impressing anyone.

All that matters is that we express our heartfelt gratitude and adoration to Him in the sincerest way we can.

It’s the sincerity that wins His heart, not the impressiveness of what we say or do.

So, I say to you today, bring yourself before God and pour your heart out to Him in worship, not being even the least little bit concerned about whether it might impress anyone if they were to see it or hear it.

Tell Him how much you love and adore Him, and how thankful you are for His mercy upon your life. Make it personal.

And bask in His presence while you leave the cares of the world behind. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-17-19 – Midnight Song

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the mighty name of Jesus!

Most of us reading this will readily acknowledge that God is above all, and He is worthy of our praise and worship!

But lots of us also have a hard time opening our mouths and letting that worship, and our prayers, rise up to Him.

Today’s video, Midnight Song, teaches on this topic that impacts the lives of so many believers.

God has something to say about this, so we hope you will take a few minutes and let Him speak to you, right now, regardless of your situation.

We love you all dearly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-30-19

John 4:23 (NKJV) 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

Worshiping God is something that must be done with a right heart.

It doesn’t mean we have to be perfect in our worship of Him. It just means that we need to come to Him with our own heart, not someone else’s.

Let me explain.

So many Christians come to God in ways that they have seen others do. That’s not our heart. That’s a heart that has learned the moves and the language of others, over time.

A true and right heart is a heart that enters in with humility, sincerity and a knowing that only God has the answer for our situation.

God knows if we are going through the motions or coming to Him with a sincere heart.

It’s important that we don’t follow others in our worship, but that we let our own heart, our own personality enter into God’s presence.

God loves our uniqueness. He takes what we say and do personally. He listens and loves what we do and say with Him. So, making sure we are real and being ourselves, paying attention to our own hearts and the things we say and do in our time with God, is of the utmost importance.

Psalm 57:7 (NKJV) 7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise.

It’s easy to mimic someone else’s worship. But it does nothing for us or for God. Our own intimate effort, a deep searching within ourselves out of our own heart, is what moves Papa. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-23-18

John 4:23 (NKJV) 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

God loves our worship. He loves our praise. He loves to hear our voices come to Him.

There are times when we go to our Father in despair or feeling hopeless because of our situations. There are times when things aren’t going so well and we are really feeling the pressure.

Do we continue to worship and praise God or do we let it throw us off and we cry the whole time about ourselves and what we need?

The Lord is not saying to wait until everything is good before we worship Him. He is saying that the hour is NOW.

This is just a little reminder today. Don’t let our troubles keep us from worshiping God. No matter what season we are facing in our life, keep worshiping, keep praising, and keep thanking Him.

Even if we can’t see the finished product, be strong and stay focused, worshiping Him for Who He is.

We just need to put ourselves aside, and with all sincerity, give Him His time. Amen.

Genesis 24:26 (NKJV) 26 Then the man bowed down his head and worshiped the Lord.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-16-18

John 4:24 (NKJV) 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Worshiping and praising God is something we need to be sure we are doing. He loves our worship!

He loves when we share His goodness with others, bringing glory and honor to Him. When we take time to look at His beauty all around us and praise Him for it.

If all we have today is a few minutes to eat our breakfast, lunch or dinner, take that few minutes to look around as we sit quietly to eat.

Notice the good things, whether it’s a picture of a loved one, or a card or note that someone left for you, to encourage you.

Maybe you have some flowers that a kind person sent you.

Or it may be none of these. Maybe we just look where we are sitting, in our home or place of work and know that wherever it is, God has brought us provision.

Maybe it’s the food we are eating that reminds us of how grateful we are that there is no lack. Maybe we see our children and they are playing or sitting quietly.

Look around and spot something that we can thank God for and give Him praise!

Worship Him today, for He is our God, our Provider. He is Everything!

We live in a world that was created by His Miraculous words and hands. Surely we can lift Him up today and worship Him for the God that He is!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-17-15

Matthew 9:18 (NKJV) 18 While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.”

Worshiping Christ in the midst of a storm shows God our faith in Him. This man worshiped Jesus, even though he was facing a very hard situation. He did not underestimate the power of Christ. Instead, he sought after Him.

Are we going to let things just fall off today, or are we going to worship Jesus, grab His hand and let Him bring life back into our dying situation?

Luke 1:49 (NKJV) 49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.

Get up today and worship His Holy name, Jesus our Lord. He will bring us victory! Amen.

Our prayers are with you and we are here if you need to talk or you need prayer.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-15

John 4:23(NKJV) 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

Worship starts in our heart.

It starts when we get a revelation of God’s compassion and love for each one of us, no matter where we’ve been or what we come from.

True worship comes through a heart of gratefulness, a heart of thankfulness, a heart of humility, and love.

Enter into worship with Him this week. Remember Him when we are on our break at work or school. Or when we are home and we have a few minutes to just sit and remember the things He has walked us through.

He is seeking us today to worship Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-24-15

Revelation 22:8-9 (NKJV) 8 Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. 9 Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”

“See that you do not do that.”

Words of extreme wisdom from the mouth of one of God’s angels.

John was face to face with an angel of God. In his presence, John fell on his face and was about to worship him. But the angel cautioned him not to do such a thing.

“Worship God”, he said.

How good we would all do to heed these words. Worship God!

Sadly, far too many people have put God in second place, behind angels or behind their pastor, or behind some other leader.

In the words of the angel of God, “See that you do not do that”.

People of God, we all need to check ourselves and make sure we worship only God. We should not worship our pastor, angels, popular Christian leaders, musicians, movie stars or anyone else.

God alone deserves our worship and adoration.

Worship God.
