Bible Verse of The Day – 8-28-17

John 14:1 (NKJV) 14 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

Are you troubled today?

Has something happened recently that concerns you or is causing you to worry? Do you spend your days worrying and fretting?

We all go through this once in a while. Stuff happens in life that can cause us to stumble, and our faith can even waver at times.

But as we walk through each day, it’s important that we don’t let our troubles become our focus. Focusing on our problems will only make them seem bigger than they are. Even if they are big, spending all of our time thinking about them will make them seem even bigger.

Jesus told us not to let our hearts be troubled. His words are true and trustworthy. So it would benefit us greatly to heed what He says!

It’s not always easy to do that. This is why it’s so important that we strengthen and build our walk with God. As we grow closer to Him, we learn to trust Him more. As we trust Him more, our faith grows. And as our faith grows, we spend less and less time with troubled hearts, worrying about every little thing that comes our way.

So, we need to take our troubles, and the yoke and burden they place upon us, and trade them in for the yoke of Jesus. Because His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

Matthew 11:29-30 (NKJV) 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-22-17

Matthew 6:31-34 (NKJV) 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Worrying. Most of us spend way too much time doing it.

What does worrying do?

It causes stress. It causes high blood pressure. It causes fear. And the list could go on and on.

But notice one thing; not one of the things that worrying does is helpful or positive. They are all harmful to us in one way or another.

And here’s another thing to consider; the vast majority of the things we worry about never happen. So, all of the time and energy we spent worrying was wasted.

Jesus said not to worry. He also said that worrying won’t add a single cubit to our stature. Literally spoken, it won’t make us taller! In other words, we gain absolutely nothing by worrying.

Matthew 6:27 (NKJV) 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

So, what’s the answer? How do we quit worrying when we’re facing difficult things?

The answer is easy. Carrying it out, however, isn’t always easy. Especially at first.

We trust God with absolutely everything about our lives. Everything. That means the little things and the big things. We take them to Him. We give them to Him. And we stop trying to carry them ourselves and figure them out ourselves.

We learn from Him. We listen for His voice, and we do what He tells us to do, even when it doesn’t make sense to our heads and our human understanding.

And as we do this, we begin to learn how to walk through storms and trials without spending every waking hour worrying and fretting over things that we have no control over to begin with.

We begin to learn how to hear Him and follow His leading, as He gives us step by step guidance and instructions.

And over time, it becomes easier and easier to follow Him and put worrying behind us.

Bible verse of The Day – 11-1-16

Matthew 28:2 (NKJV) 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.

The earth shook, an angel of God descended and the stone was rolled away.

What an incredible way for God to bring light and victory into what looked like a dark, dismal situation of defeat!

When Jesus rose and emerged from the grave, every demon in hell took notice. Even Satan himself couldn’t ignore this. He thought he had won when Jesus breathed His last breath. But in the end, he was the one who was defeated.

And just as Jesus rose from the grave, bringing victory over death, that victory is there for each and every one of us, too. If our faith and trust are in Jesus, we will also have victory over death.

But we can also have victory in our lives right here on earth! We don’t have to live defeated lives, burdened down with sin, shame or the cares of this world. We don’t have to spend every waking minute stressed by the situations we’re facing.

“How?”, you may ask. How can we have victory when there is so much happening. How can we have victory when it feels like the whole world is falling down around us? How can we have victory when it looks like evil is abounding?

By giving it to God and letting Him take care of it. Let Him handle it. Let Him bear the burdens that are trying so hard to weigh us down.

1 Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

No, this won’t make our problems disappear instantly. And it won’t necessarily hand us instant solutions to the troubles we’re facing. But it will bring us peace, if we let it.

The key is that we have to let it. We have to make a choice to take our worries, fears and even our doubts and give them to Him. Is this easy to do? Not always. Sometimes it’s downright difficult, because it means we have to let go and relinquish control to Someone we can’t even see.

But even if we don’t let go, we still never have control over it anyway. We just think we do! Because if we did have control, the situation wouldn’t be bothering us so much to begin with.

So we encourage you today to surrender to Him and give Him your concerns and troubles. Lay them down and surrender them once and for all.

They are not yours to carry.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-18-16

Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

This is a topic we tend to cover quite frequently. And there’s a good reason for that.

Each and every one of us goes through trials and hard times. It doesn’t matter if it’s a financial trial, a health problem, a relationship crisis or anything else that might come along that’s difficult.

Whatever it is, it can cause us to become scared, anxious and overwhelmed if we get our focus on the problem instead of the One who can help us through that problem.

When we focus solely on the obstacle we’re facing, it makes that obstacle seem much bigger than it really is. Why? Because if that’s all we’re looking at, we can’t see anything else.

And as we focus on that obstacle, we begin to worry. And the more we worry, the bigger that problem grows in our minds. And before we know it, we have blown it so far out of proportion that it seems insurmountable.

Now we’re not only anxious, we’re also consumed with worries. And as we worry more, we begin to conjure up all kinds of possible scenarios in our minds as to how this might all turn out. And each new scenario gets worse and worse.

Worrying never, ever helps us. Not a single little bit.

Matthew 6:27 (NKJV) 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

So let’s stop focusing on the obstacle or the problem and focus on the One who holds us in His hand and has the answer to every problem we face.

We need to put Him first in everything. He comes before our problems. He comes before our concerns. He comes before our triumphs.

Be anxious for nothing!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-6-16

Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

We have to understand that today is all that God requires us to take care of.

If we get done all that we need to get done, we should enjoy the extra time for ourselves or whatever it may be that God lays on our hearts at that time.

Don’t be anxious and thinking we always have to be busy doing something. Sometimes we need to just breathe a little. If we keep filling up our empty time, we will have no time for the important things. No time to rest, no time to play, no time for our spouse, no time for our children and no time for God.

God cares deeply for us and how much we put on ourselves. Enjoy today for what it is. And as difficult as it might seem to be to do this, don’t worry about tomorrow.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-26-16

Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Let us be reminded today that we should not worry; That worrying is NOT something Jesus wants us to participate in.

If there are things going on right now that are causing us to worry, we need to stop. And we need to take a look at what it is that’s causing the worry. Then we need to go to God and let Him know about what it is that’s worrying us, and ask Him for His help. Ask for guidance for our situation.

We don’t continue to worry after we have talked to Him about it. We take our minds off it and trust that God will bring the answer, open the door or show us the steps we need to take.

Our biggest problem is that we tend to look too far ahead.

Don’t think about what will become of tomorrow until tomorrow comes. Deal with just today. For today is enough.

Our prayers are with you. God is faithful. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-29-15

Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Worrying is something we all struggle with at one or time or another.

Human nature likes to be able to see everything that’s ahead.

But God wants us to learn to live by faith in Him, not by faith in what we can see in front of us.

Learning to really live by faith is a tough transition for us, after being used to living by sight. But that’s God’s ultimate goal for us, to live and walk by faith in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

If we’re constantly worrying, it means that we’re doubting Him, His word and His provision. That might sound harsh, but it’s the reality of it. When we look truthfully at worry, it is an outward manifestation of inward doubt.

Worry causes stress. Worry can cause us to lose faith and say things that we would not otherwise say. And worst of all, most of the things we worry about never actually happen.

So, as hard as it might seem, we need to let God build our faith in Him. We need to let Him strengthen our faith and help it grow, so we can learn to walk, trusting Him in everything we do.

So it’s time for us to stop doubting. And it’s time to let God take us by the hand and lead us, even through those places where we can’t see in front of us.

Matthew 14:31 (NKJV) 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-16-15

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Are you tired today?

Have you been wrestling with anything lately that has worn you out? Are you facing trials and temptations?

Jesus wants you to rest in Him, no matter what you’re facing.

When we’re in a battle, we can get worn out pretty quickly if we try to handle everything ourselves.

Our minds can sometimes be our worst enemy. Our intellect always tries to kick in and figure everything out. And when we do this, we can spin our wheels pretty good!

But those spinning wheels won’t get us anywhere, except buried in worrying and fretting over something we have no control over. And so many times, we spend hours, days and weeks worrying about something that never comes to pass.

Surrendering it to Jesus isn’t easy. But it’s a necessity if we want to keep from getting burned out and losing our faith.

But we need to tell our minds to shut up. And then we need to do whatever is necessary to hear God’s voice and heed His words, so He can lead us.

The best thing to do is to get in His word and let Him speak faith to our spirits. This will refresh us and renew our strength, and give us hope.

So, if you’re tired, let Jesus give you rest today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-24-15

Matthew 6:25-27 (NKJV) 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Say No to the “worries”!

OK, tell my head that. I know how it is. I can wake up, and before I even put my feet on the floor my head starts in. It can be a very hard thing to overcome.

How do we shut down the mind?

Worrying does us no good. My dad said to me the other day, “worrying doesn’t help anything or anyone.”

We don’t get answers when we worry. We don’t solve problems when we worry. We don’t change things by worrying. All it is is a big FAT distraction that paralyzes us and prevents us from doing the very thing we need to be doing.

Worrying is exhausting and can cause us to become sick. it can ruin relationships and do a lot of damage.

So today is a new day. For those that have a worrying head, we are going to do something different.

We are going to look beyond our situation today and not even give it a thought. Nope, when the “worries” pop into our heads, we are going to turn our thoughts to God and say, “you told me not to worry, so I’m going to listen to you today. I’m going to trust that YOU’VE got this”.

Then we are going to move on and continue our day, doing what we know needs to get done and thanking Him for taking care of it.

Continue to repeat these steps every time the “worries” come.

After awhile it does get easier; we get stronger, things change more quickly and answers come sooner. It becomes part of us and we live a “worry-less” life!

Just what God intended for us!

EnJOY your day!!
