Bible Verse of The Day – 5-7-16

1 Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Learning how to cast our cares on Him can sometimes be a bit difficult. We’re so used to doing everything ourselves, that handing it off to God requires retraining our minds a bit.

But it’s truly important that we learn how to do this, to cast our cares upon Him, if we are to learn to walk and live by faith.

There will be days when doing this is a breeze. Then there will be days when it seems like we just can’t let go of our troubles and our worries and give them to Him.

But we’re here to tell you today that casting our cares on God is the best way, no matter how hard it might seem to be.

It’s the way that shows our faith and teaches us to trust Him with everything about our lives. And it’s also the way to lower our stress levels, as we learn to let God handle those things that we thought we had to carry ourselves.

Trials come. It’s part of life here on earth. They can be painful. There’s no doubt about it. And sometimes it might seem like they will never end.

But they will end. They will cease and we will have victory. And while we’re going through those trials, that’s the time when we learn to cast our cares upon Him and let Him carry those things that weigh us down.

Take a step today and do this. Do what God has told us to do. He knows what’s best for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-16

1Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV) 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Today, I want to take a few minutes and thank God for something that happened last week.

We got a call while eating lunch one day recently. It was my sister. She said to me, “our brother just fell 15 – 20 feet out of a tree and he landed on a stone wall. They are rushing him to RI hospital.”

We all know in this area that if someone goes to RI hospital, it’s a serious situation.

As we raced off to the hospital, the only words that could come out of my mouth were, “Oh God, Oh God, Oh God”.

When we arrived at the hospital, we found him being prepared to have a tube inserted into his side, to drain air and fluid from his chest cavity. He had several broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a liver laceration, and a bruised lung.

I got a text message on my phone during that time from someone that knew nothing about the accident and it read, “sometimes all it takes is just one prayer to change everything”. It couldn’t have come at a better time.

Thankfully, there was no damage to his spine or his brain. Considering his fall and what could have happened, they said he was “very lucky”.

He went into the hospital on a Thursday afternoon, into the Intensive Care Unit of the Trauma Center, and was released that Sunday afternoon. Just 3 short days later.

I wouldn’t call that luck. It was only God and His faithfulness!

My brother is driving now, moving around pretty good and getting things done.

We believe that prayer is so powerful, even if it is just “Oh God”. He knows!!

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 pray without ceasing…

Today, take a break and spend it with God. Love on Him and thank Him. Let Him know how much we appreciate Him. And if there is an “Oh God prayer”, let it out. It’s good enough. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-21-16

Philippians 4:11 (NKJV) 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:

Comparing our lives with others can cause us to miss things God is doing for us in the state or place that we are currently in.

Maybe we want what others have more than what God has for us, even though He knows what is good for us.

For instance, if we hear of someone getting a pay raise at their job and we think, “boy we could sure use that right about now. Why do they get it and we are sitting here suffering?”. Or someone we know just gets a new house, or new car and we think, “I wish that was me. I’ve been praying for years and I’m still in the same place”.

This is comparing what we have to what someone else has and we have no idea what they went through to get to that point. Maybe they also prayed for years and went through some serious struggles to get there. Only God knows.

Everyone is in a different place. Some are in a season of feast and some are in a season of famine. And some are in between.

It can be very hard if we are in the time of famine and watching others going through the feast season. But know that as we remain content with our own lives and be thankful for what we do have and where we are at, our feast will come as well. Especially if we keep the right attitude.

God brings breakthrough and answered prayers at different times to each one of us, as we trust Him, believe and keep focused with the right attitude.

Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV) 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

If we struggle with keeping the right attitude, ask God to help. It’s not an easy thing to go through on our own. Being content in some seasons takes work, effort and learning to look at things in a whole new light. It doesn’t necessarily come naturally.

It takes constant trust and accountability to God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-8-16

Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Did we ever notice how hard it is for us to just let God supply all our needs? It is a hard thing to sit back and let God provide for us. It’s hard for our minds and hearts to accept, at times, that God really wants to help us.

Why is it so hard? Why do we fight God on this? Why can’t we just let Him help?

For some reason, man thinks He has to do it himself. And it is only when we get to a point where we have no way out and we have exhausted all our “KNOWHOW”, that we finally say, “OK God. I need Your help”.

There are some people that never even get to that point, because they simply refuse to admit that they need help. They would rather be mad at the world and miserable to everyone around them, than to give in and let GOD fix it.

Notice that in the beginning of Genesis, God shows us how man struggled with His provision. Take a look at Adam and Eve. They were well provided for. God had it all set for them. All they had to do was obey Him, listen and live. Everything was provided at their fingertips! But there was a weakness, and in their weakness they were tempted, and they fell.

Right from the beginning of time, we have struggled with obeying and accepting God’s provision. We wanted more. We wanted to do it on our own, with nobody telling us anything.

The question is, will we admit it? Will we learn it’s not just Adam and Eve, but all of us who struggle with this in our own personal daily lives?

If we want all that God has for us, we need to face the truth, that at times God is not holding us back or keeping things from us. But we hold back God by not obeying Him and receiving His provision in His way and His timing. How? By trying to do it all on our own.

Let God supply all our needs as we surrender unto Him today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-19-16

Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

This verse has become the words that Pastor Ellie and I have learned to live by.

This walk of faith is challenging. Some days it seems like nothing can go wrong. Other days it seems like everything goes wrong. Not that everything actually does go wrong. But it can seem that way if we look at it incorrectly.

That’s not to say that God isn’t faithful or that His promises aren’t true. It’s more to say that sometimes our heads get in the way. And when our heads get in the way, our hearts can’t see what God is doing.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Learning to walk by faith and not by sight is a never-ending learning process. Some days we run like Gazelles! Other days we trip and fall. We scrape our knees and look to our Daddy to pick us up and brush the dirt off.

There are times when we see so clearly. And then there are days when there is a lot of fog to cut through.

But, here’s the truth in all of this.

God is on the throne. His promises are true! And when we face things in life that we don’t understand, it’s OK!

The important thing is that we look to Him for our answers. And when those answers come, we need to take Him at His word, even if it doesn’t make sense to our mind and our intellect.

We teach on this frequently. Why? Because it’s a profound truth that every single one of us needs to learn. We not only need to learn it, but we need to live by it!

So when things come along that you don’t understand, or if something doesn’t work out quite the way you had hoped it would, don’t fret. Don’t give up. And don’t turn away from God.

On the contrary. Run toward Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-10-16

John 4:16-18 (NKJV) 16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”

This woman spoke the truth when Jesus spoke to her. The closer we get to Jesus, the more His light shines on those areas within us that may need some attention.

We can’t pretend that everything is alright when deep down we have some things that need to be brought out into the light.

We may have been hurt in the past when we tried to share things with people, but don’t let the hurt we have received from people stop us from sharing the things we need to share with God. The way people treat us at times is different than the way God will respond when we open up and share the truth with Him.

He did not send His Son to condemn us, but to save us. And that is the very heart of God; to SAVE us from our sin!

Open up today and share those things with Him that may be hidden and painful. He will bring healing and strength, and He will uphold us. Amen.

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) 10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-22-15

Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) 17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,”Says the Lord.

Those who serve the Lord, this is ours to hold onto. This is ours to remember when things come against us and try to knock us back or take us out. This is ours to remember when people say things against us or try to make us look bad.

We don’t have to say anything at times. Just know that God is on our side, and stand firm trusting Him. He will deliver us.

It may not always happen as quickly as we would like it to. But it will come, and things will be done according to the way He wants it to be done, no matter what others may say.

Hold on tightly to His word and stand our ground. God is faithful!

Bible verse of The Day – 12-9-15

Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It seems that the world has been turned upside down in the last few years.

Not everyone agrees on exactly what the cause might be, but everyone can agree that the world is a different place than it was even just 10 – 15 years ago.

Seeing everything that’s happening with terrorism, civil unrest in so many countries and economic upheaval across the globe can cause us to live in fear, if we’re not careful.

But as we press in and draw near to God, we can rest assured that no matter what happens, nothing can pull us away from God and His love for us.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…

So if fear tries to grip you, or if you begin to doubt that God is still in control, remember that He never changes, and He will never leave us or forsake us.

Malachi 3:6 (NKJV) 6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change…

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV) 6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Trust Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-16-15

2 Samuel 7:22 (NKJV) 22 Therefore You are great, O Lord God. For there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

There is NO other God and NONE like Him. He is our Lord God. Our Heavenly Father, Almighty God, Jehovah Jireh, El Shaddai, Prince of Peace and Mighty King! Amen.

God loves us all so much and wants a relationship with each one of us. He wants us to come to Him and embrace Him. He wants us to feel safe with Him, to share things that we are feeling and going through. He wants to help us every day. He wants to save us from our sin.

John 3:17 (NKJV) 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

His Son, Jesus Christ, is here for us today.

It doesn’t matter what we are dealing with or what we have done. He is there waiting for us.

All we need to do is call out to Him and ask Him to come into our life. We just need to ask forgiveness for the things we’ve done wrong and then trust, believe and receive Him as our Lord and Savior.

Psalm 116:2 (NKJV) 2 Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.

Talk to Him each day. He is listening. His ear is inclined to our voice!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-11-15

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Trust.

It’s a word that brings different things to mind for each of us. We each have had our own experiences with trust; some good, some not so good.

For most (if not all) of us, our ability to trust has been tainted, stained by our not-so-good experiences where our trust has been broken by people.

Once trust is broken, it’s a hard thing to repair. And when it’s been repaired, it might not ever be the same as it was before it was betrayed.

But there is One who we can always trust. He will never leave us or forsake us. He will never betray us.

We may not always understand why some things happen, or why things happen the way they do. But as we learn to trust Him, we will be less concerned with those things and more concerned with how we can draw even closer to Him and understand Him, and His ways, better.

Learning to trust God explicitly takes time, and it takes effort. It doesn’t happen overnight. It doesn’t happen just because we want it to.

It happens when we deliberately seek Him, pursue Him and determine in our hearts that He is who He says He is. End of story.

So let’s keep pursuing Him and seeking Him diligently. For He is a rewarder of those who do so.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-30-15

Psalm 46:10(NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Be still and stay focused on what we know we need to be doing. Don’t let anyone or anything stop us or change the direction God has us going in.

There are big changes taking place all around us today, and we as Christians don’t need to fear or worry about them. God knew from the beginning what would transpire; it’s all in His Word.

We, as His children, should not be surprised in the direction things are taking. Knowing how to recognize the time and the season is important, so we will know how to carry ourselves through them.

Stay calm; don’t let the things we see and hear about throw us off track or get us caught up in conversations that are not productive, healthy, or good. Stay focused and trust God. Continue to love one another, and follow His Steps each day.

Continue to rejoice and thank God, for He is good! Amen.
