Bible Verse of The Day – 7-29-17

Matthew 9:20-22 (NKJV) 20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”

Many of us know that there is something we need to do; a change we need to make.

We have been told and it has been confirmed over and over again. But we don’t do it. We freeze, afraid to move, even though God has instructed us to move.

We pray and we ask others to pray for us. We rebuke the fear, in the name of Jesus. And still, we don’t move. We hesitate. We procrastinate. We shrink back. And we cower down in fear. It’s almost like we want God to swoop down and move our feet for us.

But God doesn’t work that way. He tells us what to do. He will sometimes even show us how to do it. But if we aren’t willing to move and go after it, we will still be in the same place next week, next month or next year.

In the end, it all comes down to this: How badly do we want it? How much effort are we willing to put forth to get it?

The woman in the verses above risked everything to push through the crowd and touch the hem of the robe of Jesus.

She didn’t care what happened. She didn’t care what people thought of her. She didn’t care what people said to her or about her. She knew what she needed to do and she did it. She mustered up all of her strength and courage, and she pushed through the crowds to touch Jesus.

And the end result was the healing of a physical problem she had been battling for 12 years!

So, stand up! Push forward! Stop letting the voice of the enemy and the fear of the unknown keep you in captivity.

Press through and reach out for Him. All it takes is action on our part to set things in motion. And if we obey, we will get what God has promised us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-22-17

Matthew 6:31-34 (NKJV) 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Worrying. Most of us spend way too much time doing it.

What does worrying do?

It causes stress. It causes high blood pressure. It causes fear. And the list could go on and on.

But notice one thing; not one of the things that worrying does is helpful or positive. They are all harmful to us in one way or another.

And here’s another thing to consider; the vast majority of the things we worry about never happen. So, all of the time and energy we spent worrying was wasted.

Jesus said not to worry. He also said that worrying won’t add a single cubit to our stature. Literally spoken, it won’t make us taller! In other words, we gain absolutely nothing by worrying.

Matthew 6:27 (NKJV) 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

So, what’s the answer? How do we quit worrying when we’re facing difficult things?

The answer is easy. Carrying it out, however, isn’t always easy. Especially at first.

We trust God with absolutely everything about our lives. Everything. That means the little things and the big things. We take them to Him. We give them to Him. And we stop trying to carry them ourselves and figure them out ourselves.

We learn from Him. We listen for His voice, and we do what He tells us to do, even when it doesn’t make sense to our heads and our human understanding.

And as we do this, we begin to learn how to walk through storms and trials without spending every waking hour worrying and fretting over things that we have no control over to begin with.

We begin to learn how to hear Him and follow His leading, as He gives us step by step guidance and instructions.

And over time, it becomes easier and easier to follow Him and put worrying behind us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-18-17

Job 1:20-21 (NKJV) 20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

When Job’s life changed suddenly and drastically, he did not blame God. But, instead, he found it in his heart to worship and bless the name of the Lord.

Job lost his oxen, donkeys, sheep and camels. He lost his servants, and then a great wind came and struck the house, and it fell on his sons and daughters.

Job lost all his property and all of his children in a very short time.

Some may ask how God could allow this to happen to Job, who was such a good man. God Himself even said Job was blameless and upright. He was a man with a good heart. How could this be?

Some of us think “well, if he was a bad person we could see these things happening to him, but he was a good man, living his life right”.

You see, bad things don’t just happen to people living wrong. They happen to good people too. It’s just part of life.

This is an area where we all have to be careful, judging and blaming God. If we read all of this story, we will find out that God was happy with Job and his lifestyle and He blessed the work of his hands.

It was the devil who wanted to take Job out. He thought that if Job lost all of his blessings he would surely curse God. He was hoping that would be the case, and he wanted Job to fail badly. It’s the enemy who comes to steal and he doesn’t care if we are good or bad people. He wants to take us all out.

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

God, on the other hand, loved Job and blessed Him, just as He loves us and wants good for us all.

After all that the devil put on Job, he remained sincere in his heart toward God. It didn’t matter what he lost. He was not going to change the way he looked at his Father.

Maybe we have been through some tough stuff and our outlook toward God has changed because of it.

Let us remember who the thief is; the killer, the destroyer. And turn ourselves back to God.

Let God bring healing and restoration where bitterness and anger have taken over. Today, let us worship and bless God no matter what we have been through, just as Job did. For God is faithful to help us through this!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-12-17

Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Have we ever wondered why sometimes we don’t get what we ask for or what we need?

Sometimes we don’t get all our needs met because we don’t have the faith and trust we need in God to let Him handle it. We feel like we have to take care of it and then, if we can’t handle it ourselves, we have no other option but to let Him try.

That’s not faith. That’s just us saying “God, I have no other way, I’m stuck and I need You to try now”.

That “NOW” is the problem we have. That “NOW” will get us in deeper trouble and can hurt us if we wait too long. It’s that very “NOW” that God wants us to learn to get away from.

We think we have to try to give it our all before we hand it over to God. But it’s not about how long we can stick it out, trying to do it on our own. It’s really about how quickly we turn it over to God and let Him guide us through it.

Many of us tend to make the mistake of thinking that handing it over to Him means simply sitting back and letting Him do everything. But that’s not always true. Most times He will still require us to do something.

The difference, though, is that the things we will be doing will be Spirit-led, not based on our emotions or our intellect.

Not getting all our needs met is not God’s fault. It’s ours. The “NOW” mark is throwing us off and keeping us from getting the help we need in the timing we need it.

Let God meet our needs today. Ask Him for help. And listen to Him as He guides our steps.

It doesn’t mean He will always give us a clear-cut answer right away. But the process will begin as we trust Him with it and we pray, watch, listen and obey.

Don’t wait so long before bringing Him onboard. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-10-17

Psalm 116:6 (NLT) 6 The Lord protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and he saved me.

God wants us to have childlike faith. Faith is the foundation of our walk with Him. In fact, without faith, we can’t please God.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Childlike faith is what God asks of us, but what does that mean. What is childlike faith?

Having faith like a child means that we give someone 100% trust. We don’t question them. We don’t doubt them. We know that if they say they will do something, then they will do it. No questions asked.

Children trust parents unconditionally, unless they have been given a reason not to do so. When a child jumps into their daddy’s arms, they fully expect and know that he will catch them. They don’t stop and think about it. They don’t question whether he will catch them or not. They just jump.

And so it is with our Father in heaven. He wants us to trust Him with everything about our lives. The little things and the big things. The critically important and the not-so-important.

Jesus Himself said that unless we become like children, we can’t enter into the kingdom of God.

Matthew 18:2-3 (NKJV) 2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

He is God Almighty, Jehovah Jireh. He is the Alpha and the Omega, who was, and is, and is to come.

Trust Him with everything. Jump into His arms.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-3-17

Ephesians 6:14 (NKJV) 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness…

Stepping up to the plate can sometimes be scary. There is no doubt about that. But if it is what God wants us to do, we need to take the step.

Many years ago, we were asked to step up to the plate and be the pillars of a crumbling church.

We had never done anything like that before. And at the time, we were hurting within ourselves after seeing what had taken place. We were in the midst of our own pain and sorrow. Our hearts were hurting from the damage that was done. It touched us in a very personal way.

When things happen to us personally, it can be hard to pick up the pieces and move on. It’s hard to be strong in these situations.

We ached so badly in our hearts. And our eyes were filled with tears. We couldn’t see a light at the end of a very dark tunnel. But, that is when God builds that muscle in us, to believe for what we can’t see.

It’s in those moments that we forgive, trust and keep going and do what needs to be done, even when we are hurting and in pain.

He brings beautiful things out of what seem to be terrible situations.

We just have to step up to the plate and stand, letting Him lead, before we get to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and the beauty that is waiting there for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-13-17

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Sometimes we think that God doesn’t know where we are at. We think He has too much going on with everything else in this big world; bigger problems, and big issues to deal with. We think He is preoccupied and has no idea what is happening in our lives.

But that’s exactly what the enemy wants us to think, that we have nobody and we are on our own. He likes to intimidate us and make us feel low so that he can say things to destroy us.

We want to remind you that there is NO way that you are on your own. And that if we are in Christ, we are more than conquerors! He will stand with us, for us and He will have our back. Together we win!

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-10-17

Psalm 57:2 (NKJV) 2 I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me.

Some of us today are afraid to ask God for anything because we have been rejected in our lives so many times. Life has thrown us some curve balls, so we have accepted that this is just how it is. And now we have grown to live a life expecting to be rejected.

We don’t even bother to pray anymore because of the fear that God will reject our prayers.

We should never equate God with our circumstances or our past. And we should never think that God will cast us away because of our mistakes. We need to take Him at His word and trust Him.

God is a good God! He’s not out to hurt us or cause harm to us, but to do good for us. He will not reject us, but listen to us with open ears of compassion, grace and mercy. He wants us to know that He is here for us and that no matter what others have done to us, He is not like them.

1 Corinthians 1:9 (NKJV) 9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

If there is something you or someone you know needs today, go to God through His precious Son, Jesus Christ, and ask of Him. He will hear our cry.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-9-17

Proverbs 3:9-10 (NKJV) 9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

Honoring God with our finances is critical to our financial stability and wellbeing.

Many of us go through financial trials. It happens to just about everyone at some point. Sometimes this happens due to poor choices on our part. Other times it happens due to things that are beyond our control.

But no matter how or why it happens, one thing is for sure. And that is this; if we honor God with our finances, He will protect us and provide for us no matter what comes along.

There is protection that comes when we honor God with our money. It’s a spiritual principle that was set in motion by God Himself.

How we honor God with our finances (or not) also says a lot about our faith and trust in Him. Why? Because, most times, our money comes by way of hard work on our part. And to most of us our money is a prized possession that we are not willing to part with easily.

But if we truly trust God with everything else, we will also trust Him with our finances too. Jesus said this about it:

Matthew 6:19 (NKJV) 19 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

In the verses leading up to 19, Jesus had been speaking specifically about storing up treasures here on earth. He encouraged us to store up treasures in heaven, instead, and not to place so much value on money and earthly possessions.

And lastly, it is mentioned in several places that God wants us to give of our firstfruits. This means that we need to honor Him first, before anything/anyone else. Not give Him the leftovers after we have paid everyone else and spent more of it on earthly goods and possessions.

This is a hard teaching for many of us because it hits us in the wallet and causes us to really ask ourselves why we’re not giving God priority in our finances.

So we urge you to ask God about this and seek Him on this. And then put Him first, even with your money. And over time, you will see God move on your behalf, again and again, even when it looks like the rug has been pulled from under your feet.

Trust Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-1-17

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

We don’t walk by sight.

I had this conversation the other day with someone that was feeling very discouraged. The situation they were facing had loss written all over it.

How do we stay encouraged as believers and keep going when our situation is discouraging, and when everything we hear and see about it is not good and we are feeling scared?

This is when we buckle down and let our faith in God rise above all our feelings and thoughts. We rise above all that we can see and hear and just stay silent, trusting that God has the answer. And know that whatever it may be is going to be good.

Matthew 17:20 (NKJV) 20 So Jesus said to them, “…assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Faith will help us through!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-29-17

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

One morning, bright and early, I left my house to go and visit someone dear to me. As I approached their door, on the other side of the same duplex home, there stood a woman in tears. I asked her, “are you OK?. She continued to break down and explain to me why she was so upset. So I said to her, with all confidence in God, “it will all work out”.

At that very moment, I happened to look down at her feet and noticed a single penny laying there on the ground. I picked it up and handed it to her and said “I believe God is speaking to you”.

I asked her if she knew what was written on it. She just looked at me, with a puzzled expression on her face. So I said “it says “in God we trust” on that coin”. She smiled from ear to ear and stuck it in her pocket.

Sometimes we all just need a little reminder to get us through the day.
