Bible Verse of The Day – 12-8-17

Job 12:13 (NKJV) 13 “With Him are wisdom and strength, He has counsel and understanding.

How are we about stepping out and doing something outside of our comfort zone? Do we get nervous and not want to make a move? Do we get excited and start running with it?

We can’t let nervousness stop us from putting one foot in front of the other. And we can’t let excitement cause us to take off running before we have God’s plan or strategy.

When we know God has opened a door for us, but we have no idea how or what to do, how do we handle it?

Are the finances not there to make it work? Or maybe the time and labor we need to put into it just isn’t there? Sometimes we will even ponder on the fact that we don’t have the knowledge to pull it off.

In situations like these, we feel inadequate in a lot of areas, causing us to become overwhelmed and intimidated.

These are all normal things we think about, and they will cause us to get nervous.

So, what do we do?

First and foremost, we seek God for His wisdom and understanding for the thing He has put before us.

This doesn’t mean He will come and lay it all out for us all at once. But, seeking His wisdom for the first step to take, and the timing of it, is of the utmost importance.

Keep it simple. One step at a time.

Sometimes He will give us vision for the project, but it’s not necessary for us to take off with it all at once. We need to hold it dear to our hearts, and walk accordingly, by moving prayerfully.

Our prayers are with you, and if you are in need of pastoral guidance, feel free to contact us by phone or email at any time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-27-17

John 15:4 (NKJV) 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

Do we ever find ourselves looking at our lives and wondering why nothing ever changes, or why we can’t seem to get to where we want to be in life?

Many times, we can trace this directly back to our walk with God.

You see, as we learn to put our walk with God first, and we put into practice what He teaches us, our lives will begin to change, a little at a time.

As we get our priorities straight and we begin to get understanding about who He wants us to be, we will begin to change the way we do things. And this will lead to godly changes in our lives.

Our attitude will change because our outlook on life changes. We begin to see things through a different set of eyes as we allow Him to have precedence in everything we do.

In turn, this will bring about the change that we feel like we’re so often missing.

It’s not about just wanting to change. Many people want to change. But unless we put wheels under that desire, and we actually do something about it, we will never see change come.

Above, Jesus said that without Him we can bear no fruit. In John 15:5, He says that without Him we can do nothing. So maybe it would be a good idea for us to listen to what He says and apply it to our lives if we truly want to see things happen for the better.

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

So, what does this mean?

It means that we get a good grasp on the fact that without Him, we can do nothing. And then we start putting Him first in everything we do. We do this without a motive. We do it without looking for something in return.

We do it because we love Him and we want to honor Him with our lives. And we do it because it is what He has told us to do. We lay all of our preconceived ideas aside and let Him lead us in each step we take.

We spend time in His word. We let it become our food each day. We get it in us and we let it nourish us and strengthen us.

We talk with Him and we listen to what He says to us. We follow His leading each and every day.

Then, we watch in awe as our lives begin to change.

And we give Him the glory and honor He deserves for everything that He does in our lives.

It isn’t always easy. It takes effort on our part. It won’t happen overnight. It takes time.

But it’s worth every bit of time and effort that is required. And our lives will be forever changed if we are diligent and faithful in it.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-25-17

Mark 9:24 (NKJV) 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

We may feel like our hardest times are upon us. We can’t see past what is in front of us. It seems huge and we are tired, drained and feeling like it is a lost battle.

So many times, we have prayed and asked God for the answer and we are discouraged because, to the natural eye, there appears to have been no change. We are still here and we are beginning to doubt God and His promises.

Look up today. Don’t spend one more moment looking at the situation in front of us. When we open our heart up and look to Him, when we call out to Him, He hears our voice. He is working things out.

It may not seem like anything is happening or changing, but behind the scenes God is on the move on our behalf.

So, what is our job?

We need to begin to thank Him, praise Him and rejoice because we know Who our Deliverer is! Wait quietly and hold fast to His hand. He will not fail us. He is there. He will make our path clear.

Psalm 34:17 (NKJV) 17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-31-17

Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.

In the middle of a trying season in our lives, we sat down to pray. We really had no direction at this particular time. We cried out to the ONE that we knew was our only hope. And we trusted He would show us the answer.

Sometimes not knowing what to do may seem better to us, rather than getting God’s answer. This is especially true if the answer is something we have never done before or bigger than what we think we can do. Maybe this is why sometimes we don’t ask God? Because we’re afraid of His answer.

When God gave us His answer, we looked at our situation and realized it was something that was impossible to do at that time. Despite the situation we were in, we did say yes to Him.

And we agreed, that however He chose to do it, we were OK with it. We would wait on the timing and the steps.

As we waited, we continued to do what we knew we could do and God made the rest happen.

In the areas where we could not see how to do it or how it could possibly happen, He did it.

We look back now and think, “boy, are we glad we didn’t let our “not knowing” cause us to be stuck where we were”.

In the situation you’re facing today, ask God for direction. Ask Him for the answer. He will hear your prayer and direct your steps.

Psalm 4:1 (NKJV) 1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-3-17

Exodus 33:14 (NKJV) 14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

A person that has to have control over everything will never find rest.

Someone with this mindset will think that they cannot live without knowing from one minute to the next that they have it all under control. If they could do everything in this world themselves, they would. And they would love it!

They don’t want to have to rely on anyone but themselves to get things done. And honestly, they really think they can handle it all on their own. They don’t need anyone; no help, no advice, no suggestions, because they really, truly believe they’ve got it all under control.

They don’t like when change comes. They work hard at trying to keep things going the same way all the time, correctly and smoothly, with NO disturbances or blemishes, as they might call them.

When something goes wrong, fear instantly grips them and they freeze. Their whole being goes blank and every insecure feeling hits them all at once. Once they realize they’ve lost control, having no idea how to handle this situation, they begin to lash out in anger and frustration.

They are quick to snap at others, saying things that are degrading and hurtful to anyone around them, and blaming them for everything that has happened. They have no remorse about the things they are saying. They are out of control, and can’t see that their troubles are because of the position they put themselves in, always trying to do it all on their own.

Fear is at the root of a controlling person’s problems. We are literally afraid of the unknown, that is, not knowing if we can fix a problem or not. We are afraid of what can go wrong. We try our hardest to control it to go exactly the way we think it should, even if it means we do everything ourselves, even to the point that we are run down, exhausted, and sick.

Rebuke fear today in Jesus’ Name. It’s alright if we don’t know what to do sometimes. It’s OK to have people help, even if they don’t do it the way we think it has to be done.

It’s time to let God lead. We are not in control, no matter how much we want to believe we are. In a matter of seconds everything can change for us. There is only ONE who has everything in control. Rest in Him today.

Dear God in Heaven,

Precious are You to forgive me for my sin. Today I come to You and ask for Your forgiveness for trying to have control over everything to the point where I have pushed people away, hurt people, and have said and done mean things to those that have tried to help me. Please forgive me, in Jesus’ name I ask.

I want this rest that You offer to me. I give up on trying to do everything myself and I ask that You bring in the right people around me to help. I lay down the stress that it has caused me, and I pick up the peace that comes with resting in You.

Thank you, Lord. I give You all the praise for teaching me how to live, and to live life more abundantly each day. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-4-17

Acts 2:25 (NKJV) 25 For David says concerning Him: ‘I foresaw the Lord always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.

No matter what is hitting us right now, loss of income, loss of a relationship, loss of health, loss of a family member, loss of position, etc., God is at our right hand if we lean on Him.

Our situation cannot and will not shake us if we don’t give in to it. It may try, and it may feel like it is winning at times. But if we stand and we look to God, the One who saves us, the One who lifts us up, the One who will get us through, we will not be shaken!

Get into that secret place and hold on to the ONE who will keep us standing on solid ground.

Psalm 91:1 (NKJV) 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-14-17

Psalm 73:28 (NKJV) 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works.

God wants us to get personal with Him!

He wants us to draw near to Him and learn of Him. He wants us to press in to Him and build that one-on-one relationship with Him and take it to new heights. He wants to walk hand in hand with us!

He wants us to make our needs known to Him and trust Him with them, to supply us with what we need.

As believers, most of us are guilty, at one time or another, of bringing our needs to our pastors, our friends, our family and others. And sometimes we might even pray and ask God for help.

But then we just leave it there and never wait or listen to see what God wants us to do next. For some reason we think that once we bring it to God (or whoever else), that we can just forget about it and move on to other things. We rarely consider the fact that God may require us to take steps in order to bring the victory we’re asking for.

God is faithful to show us what we need to do. Sometimes we won’t need to do anything. But, more often than not, God will give us steps to take to carry out His plan. We need to be diligent to listen and then obey and follow His leading.

Living by faith is exciting! We can learn to live in anticipation of what God will do for us next. And we will never look back. We will never miss the days when we wished we could have the faith to see God move.

Now we can see Him move on our behalf each and every day, knowing that He is faithful and that His promises are true. And our lives will never be the same again.

Trust Him. Draw near to Him. Press in to Him. And watch your faith grow like never before.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-29-17

Matthew 9:20-22 (NKJV) 20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”

Many of us know that there is something we need to do; a change we need to make.

We have been told and it has been confirmed over and over again. But we don’t do it. We freeze, afraid to move, even though God has instructed us to move.

We pray and we ask others to pray for us. We rebuke the fear, in the name of Jesus. And still, we don’t move. We hesitate. We procrastinate. We shrink back. And we cower down in fear. It’s almost like we want God to swoop down and move our feet for us.

But God doesn’t work that way. He tells us what to do. He will sometimes even show us how to do it. But if we aren’t willing to move and go after it, we will still be in the same place next week, next month or next year.

In the end, it all comes down to this: How badly do we want it? How much effort are we willing to put forth to get it?

The woman in the verses above risked everything to push through the crowd and touch the hem of the robe of Jesus.

She didn’t care what happened. She didn’t care what people thought of her. She didn’t care what people said to her or about her. She knew what she needed to do and she did it. She mustered up all of her strength and courage, and she pushed through the crowds to touch Jesus.

And the end result was the healing of a physical problem she had been battling for 12 years!

So, stand up! Push forward! Stop letting the voice of the enemy and the fear of the unknown keep you in captivity.

Press through and reach out for Him. All it takes is action on our part to set things in motion. And if we obey, we will get what God has promised us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-22-17

Matthew 6:31-34 (NKJV) 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Worrying. Most of us spend way too much time doing it.

What does worrying do?

It causes stress. It causes high blood pressure. It causes fear. And the list could go on and on.

But notice one thing; not one of the things that worrying does is helpful or positive. They are all harmful to us in one way or another.

And here’s another thing to consider; the vast majority of the things we worry about never happen. So, all of the time and energy we spent worrying was wasted.

Jesus said not to worry. He also said that worrying won’t add a single cubit to our stature. Literally spoken, it won’t make us taller! In other words, we gain absolutely nothing by worrying.

Matthew 6:27 (NKJV) 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

So, what’s the answer? How do we quit worrying when we’re facing difficult things?

The answer is easy. Carrying it out, however, isn’t always easy. Especially at first.

We trust God with absolutely everything about our lives. Everything. That means the little things and the big things. We take them to Him. We give them to Him. And we stop trying to carry them ourselves and figure them out ourselves.

We learn from Him. We listen for His voice, and we do what He tells us to do, even when it doesn’t make sense to our heads and our human understanding.

And as we do this, we begin to learn how to walk through storms and trials without spending every waking hour worrying and fretting over things that we have no control over to begin with.

We begin to learn how to hear Him and follow His leading, as He gives us step by step guidance and instructions.

And over time, it becomes easier and easier to follow Him and put worrying behind us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-18-17

Job 1:20-21 (NKJV) 20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

When Job’s life changed suddenly and drastically, he did not blame God. But, instead, he found it in his heart to worship and bless the name of the Lord.

Job lost his oxen, donkeys, sheep and camels. He lost his servants, and then a great wind came and struck the house, and it fell on his sons and daughters.

Job lost all his property and all of his children in a very short time.

Some may ask how God could allow this to happen to Job, who was such a good man. God Himself even said Job was blameless and upright. He was a man with a good heart. How could this be?

Some of us think “well, if he was a bad person we could see these things happening to him, but he was a good man, living his life right”.

You see, bad things don’t just happen to people living wrong. They happen to good people too. It’s just part of life.

This is an area where we all have to be careful, judging and blaming God. If we read all of this story, we will find out that God was happy with Job and his lifestyle and He blessed the work of his hands.

It was the devil who wanted to take Job out. He thought that if Job lost all of his blessings he would surely curse God. He was hoping that would be the case, and he wanted Job to fail badly. It’s the enemy who comes to steal and he doesn’t care if we are good or bad people. He wants to take us all out.

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

God, on the other hand, loved Job and blessed Him, just as He loves us and wants good for us all.

After all that the devil put on Job, he remained sincere in his heart toward God. It didn’t matter what he lost. He was not going to change the way he looked at his Father.

Maybe we have been through some tough stuff and our outlook toward God has changed because of it.

Let us remember who the thief is; the killer, the destroyer. And turn ourselves back to God.

Let God bring healing and restoration where bitterness and anger have taken over. Today, let us worship and bless God no matter what we have been through, just as Job did. For God is faithful to help us through this!

Amen.
