Bible Verse of The Day – 1-5-24

Psalm 37:3-5 (NKJV) 3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

From the very first page of Genesis, to the very last word of Revelation, there is one theme that stands out very clearly; trust God.

Our lives are nothing more than a never-ending series of scenes played out and a host of seasons that we walk through.

Those seasons bring many things. One of those things is change.

Seasons never last. They come. Then they go.

As part of walking through those various seasons, we encounter things that we are unfamiliar with and probably uncomfortable with.

How we react to those unfamiliar things will be based on a few different factors.

One of those factors is our personality type. Another factor is our willingness to learn and grow as a person, but more importantly as a follower of Christ.

The most important factor is how strongly we trust God.

This is a big deal because our trust in God is something that will impact every aspect of our lives.

Trusting God isn’t something that just happens. It isn’t something we get by having someone lay hands on us and pray for it to happen.

We learn to trust God as we walk through life and experience His faithfulness. And even then, we must be willing to submit to His will and obey Him in everything.

As we learn to obey Him, we will begin taking small steps of faith in obedience. And as we do this, we begin to see Him move on our behalf.

These small steps, and the evidence of Him moving in our lives, will lead us to trust Him more. This leads to us being willing to take bigger steps. And the snowball, so to speak, grows as it rolls further.

And before we know it, we can look back and see how God led us, and how we trusted Him to do so without even giving it any thought.

It soon becomes a way of life that we just walk in.

We will never be perfect in this. We will fail. We will never get it right 100% of the time.

But we learn, grow and keep being willing to learn more. And in this, we develop a trust in Him that we never thought was possible.

Go now. Do Good, dwell in the land, feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself in Him, commit your way to Him. Learn to trust in Him.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-19-23

Psalm 64:1 (NKJV) 1 Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation; Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

David is fearful because he knows he has an enemy.

Out of desperation, he asks God to preserve his life. David is scared.

We will all be afraid at times, even as children of God.

When we are fearful, we need to get God’s help to defeat our enemy.

Wisdom is what gets us through everything we face.

God’s word says to get wisdom and understanding.

If we are facing a life-threatening situation, we need to face it through prayer. Go into battle on our knees.

Get His wisdom. Get His answers. Get His understanding.

He has all the wisdom and understanding we need to win!

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-25-23

Jeremiah 17:14 (NKJV) 14 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.

As a prophet of God, Jeremiah faced many struggles and trials. He was heavily persecuted for his obedience to God’s voice as he shared the words that God gave him to speak.

Because of these heavy persecutions, Jeremiah often expressed his concerns to God regarding his safety and wellbeing.

This resulted in Jeremiah being dubbed “the weeping prophet” by some.

Through all the trials and persecution, though, Jeremiah never wavered in his faith or his trust in God.

His absolute trust was readily expressed in the prayer above, as Jeremiah earnestly asked God to deliver him from those who persecuted and tormented him.

And even during the troubles that befell him because of his prophecies, he never ceased speaking the word of God to those whom God directed him to speak it.

He never shrunk back.

He was a notable example that you and I can look to as we walk through our own times of persecution or trials.

When things are easy for us, trusting God and following Him are effortless. But how will we react when seasons of persecution hit, or we face a difficult trial?

These are the times we need to understand and recognize God’s sovereignty.

It is His sovereignty that should give us hope and show us that our trust in Him is well placed.

Fear not, brothers and sisters in Christ!

Our trust in Him is not misplaced. He will walk us through whatever we face if we allow Him to.

And it is in Him that we will find our strength, our solace, and our joy as we move, one step at a time, toward victory.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-23-23

Psalm 89:8 (NKJV) 8 O Lord God of hosts, Who is mighty like You, O Lord? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.

Have we ever felt that, even as a believer, we have no control over most things?

We think we have it all together. But if certain things were to fall through right now, we may not handle it too well.

And we would be left crying out for help just like everyone else.

We are not alone if we feel like that at times. It shows us that we are human.

Some people will say, “just have faith and it will work out”.

There is truth in that. However, there are steps that we may be required to take. Even in that it takes time to work it out.

And during that time, however long it takes, we will go through a lot of emotions; some ups and some downs. And there may be moments of just wanting to give up.

The most important thing to remember isn’t the lack of control we have over most things, but that we have the MIGHTY One, our Lord, to bring us through whatever we face.

His faithfulness surrounds us! Amen.

Jeremiah 1:19 (NKJV) 19 They will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the Lord, “to deliver you.”

Be encouraged today. Our deliverer is at hand.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-7-23

Psalm 84:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. 6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools.

Baca is a type of balsam plant that can survive in dry conditions.

As Christians or children of God, we may sometimes be in a place that feels dry.

Maybe we are struggling in our walk, or maybe we are waiting for answers. We need to see change, or we need something to happen that is beyond our control.

God can sometimes feel so far away and so quiet in those moments. We wait, crying out to Him for some type of sign.

As we wait, let our strength come from Him. Let Him give us the heart to push through and pass through such dry conditions.

It’s in and through His strength, that even though we are in a dry and heavy place, He will bring the rain.

Let us cry out today, “Oh rain of God come, fall on us today. We need you”.  Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-3-23

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

What a fitting verse for the times in which we are living!

How hard our minds work sometimes to try to decipher everything that we’re seeing.

But our minds can never fully comprehend or understand it.

Instead, we need to rely on God’s spirit. For only He knows the depths and truth of what is happening.

So, instead of busying ourselves with trying to figure it all out, let us learn to be still, resting in knowing that He has it all in His hands.

He knows what will happen before it is ever played out.

He is still on the throne.

And nothing happens that He does not allow.

Our emotions will wreck us if we allow them to.

But the Holy Spirit brings comfort, peace, joy and strength as we follow His leading and heed His voice.

Be still. Let God be God.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-15-23

Ecclesiastes 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For in the multitude of dreams and many words there is also vanity. But fear God.

I am one who tends to ponder on the things of life frequently.

I am in almost a constant state of meditating on the things of God and comparing them to what I see in the world.

This helps me to put things into perspective. And it helps me to see and hear God more clearly.

As I get older and I experience more of the things of God, and He gives me understanding about the depths of the depravity of the world, the easier it is for me to understand what Solomon was referring to when he spoke of so much vanity in life.

There are so many things that we think are important. We spend countless hours of our life fretting or worrying about them.

These things are vastly different for some of us, but most of them are not unique at all and are shared by millions upon millions of us.

It’s normal for us to be concerned with things that impact our lives. We are, after all, flesh and bone; subject to the emotions that come with changes and the ups-and-downs of this earthly life we live.

It is not OK, though, to allow our emotions to chip away at our faith and cause us to succumb to doubts and fears, eroding our trust in God who created and breathed life into us.

Sometimes we need to step back and look at things “from a 40,000-foot view”, to give us a better perspective and help us look from the outside, where it’s not as easy to get emotionally influenced.

This allows us to hear God better and let Him show us His way; His answers to our problems.

Our vanity and our need to have full control will begin to fall by the wayside when we hand the reins over to God and we begin following His lead instead of fighting Him every step of the way, wrestling to maintain our death grip on every aspect of our lives.

Trust Him today with your situation. Hand your cares and concerns over to Him.

It’s not always easy to do, but once we start, and we begin to see the results of trusting Him, we will never want to go back to trying to control everything in our lives ever again.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-3-23

Daniel 3:24-25 (NKJV) 24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” 25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

It feels like this is truly a season of “walking in the fire” for many of us in the body of Christ.

Trials and hard situations abound on a global scale during this season we are in. And sometimes that can make it seem like we’re constantly “up against a wall” that we can’t break through or climb over.

But it’s important for every one of us to remember this; those fires that can feel like they’re destroying us will purify us, and as we walk through them, we are not alone.

Our faithful Savior, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, is walking through the fire with us.

No, He is not spraying the fire with water to cool it down. Instead, He is equipping us and accompanying us so we can walk through that fire and come out the other side without even a hint of the smell of smoke on us.

This does not mean that the fire won’t affect us. It more than likely will, in one way or another. And it may even leave scars in some way.

But the effects will not kill us. They will make us stronger with a resolve that we didn’t have before the flames tried to swallow us up.

This is not being said to hype anyone up emotionally. It is not being said to minimize or make light of what anyone is going through right now.

But we need to understand that these trials we face have the power to make us stronger if we let them do their work.

Romans 5:3-4 (NKJV) 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

No, none of us likes trials. None of us asks for tribulations. But they must come. Jesus told us this (John 16:33).

So, let us lean on God and look to Him to strengthen us as we face them, following His leading as He walks us through them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-31-23

2 Samuel 22:7 (NKJV) 7 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered His ears.

Life has a funny way of shaking us up when we least expect it.

We can be cruising along with no worries, and then something unexpected comes along and changes everything in a split second.

It happens to all of us. Not even one of us is exempt.

When this happens, what do we do? How do we handle it?

That’s the million-dollar question!

Sudden changes can be stressful to our human minds. We are creatures of habit, and we like it when things are steady and stable.

But despite our love for stability, sometimes a good shake-up is beneficial, even though we might not think so at the time.

Our initial reaction to such shakeups is typically fear, feelings of uncertainty, frustration, and many times even anger.

But it’s important that we not allow those emotions to dominate us or drive our decision-making processes.

Instead, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to walk us through the changes and show us how to handle them. As we do this, and we stay calm, we will begin to feel God’s peace come over us, taking the fear and anxiety away.

Many times, God will use these types of situations to show Himself and teach us valuable lessons.

And God tells us that these kinds of situations will cause us to grow stronger in many areas of our lives.

Romans 5:3-4 (NKJV) 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

So, if you’re currently facing a life-changing trial, or something that has happened suddenly and has turned your life upside down, be sure to be guided by the Holy Spirit, not by your emotions.

In your distress, cry out to God. He will hear your voice, and your cry will enter His ears. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-29-23

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Learning not to lean on our own understanding is a big deal.

As we are growing up, we learn lots of things.

We go to school, and we are taught how to figure things out. We learn how to calculate things. We learn how to understand certain things. We learn how to think for ourselves and solve problems.

It all revolves around human intellect and human understanding. And this is good. We all need to learn these kinds of things.

But this should not be the end of our learning.

There is another kind of learning that is even more important.

It is learning to trust God in everything that comes our way, even when we might not understand things.

We may not understand why certain things happen. We may not understand the timing of things that happen. And we might not understand how to navigate those things that happen in the proper way.

This is where our trust in God comes in.

We need to learn to trust Him when nothing makes sense.

And we even need to trust Him when what He is showing us doesn’t make sense.

Why?

Because His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV) 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

This is a lesson that He has taught me repeatedly throughout my walk with Him.

And how do we learn this? How do we walk this out?

By putting Him first in everything we do and giving Him precedence even in our thoughts.

As we do this, we will see Him move in our lives, and our faith in Him will grow exponentially.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
