Bible Verse of The Day – 1-7-16

Luke 15:7 (NKJV) 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance

God loves when we come and repent, confessing our sins to Him.

We may struggle with going to Him, but we shouldn’t be afraid. He welcomes us with open arms. He listens to us and then He forgives us and cleanses us from unrighteousness.

We all fall short at times. Just the other day I was  constantly aggravated over things that really were out of my control. It really affected my attitude throughout most of the day. Later that night as I laid in bed, I felt terrible. I wasted a good day, feeling aggravated.

I asked God to forgive me and help me to stop trying to fix problems that are out of my control. After I unloaded and repented for my behavior and attitude, I was able to rest, knowing that God understands. As I confessed to Him, I felt light again.

The heaviness that comes with sin is draining.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Rest in knowing that God’s arms are open to us no matter what kind of day we have. He’s ready to listen, He’s ready to speak and ready to forgive.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-23-15

Psalm 32:1 (NKJV) 32 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered.

Sin is something we will wrestle with throughout our life. None of us is exempt. None of us is perfect.

Some days it’s easy to turn away from temptation. Other days, for whatever reason, it can be harder. Maybe we’re tired, maybe we’re depressed, maybe we are hurting or mad, etc. We give in to the tempter and do exactly what we prayed we wouldn’t do.

This happens to us all at one time or another. The good news is that when we do fall, we have someone that loves us and understands about temptation and our weakness. He understands we are not perfect and He has provided a way for us to be forgiven many times, no matter what it is.

Luke 7:47 (NKJV) 47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

This woman had many sins, but they were forgiven.

Jesus Christ covered all sin when He died for us on the cross. But that does not mean when we become Christians, His children, we are sinless. It means that when we sin, we need to acknowledge it, go to Him and repent, asking Him to forgive us. It does not mean we have no sin.

We don’t have to live with guilt or shame for the rest of our life. Jesus covered our sin and forgives us as we ask Him to.

We are truly blessed!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-11-15

Luke 15:18-20 (NKJV) 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”’ 20 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

This son had left his father on pretty bad terms. He had demanded to have his inheritance early, and then he left with it, abandoning his father and his family.

Only after he had wasted it all on the party life, and found himself homeless and feeding pigs to earn a small income did he come to his senses and decide to return home.

Ih his mind, he wasn’t even worthy to be called his father’s son any longer. He had determined that he would return home, even it if meant working as a hired hand on his father’s land.

You see, life had taught him some hard lessons that can never be learned in books, or even by word of mouth. Sometimes we just have to learn by walking through something. Some might call it “trial by fire”.

Many years ago Pastor Ellie was speaking with an elderly pastor friend of ours. She asked him “How can we just sit back and watch as our children make poor choices and get themselves into trouble?”.

And he answered her very wisely, with the voice of experience, saying “sometimes you just have to let them go through the fire”.

And so it was with this particular son. He had gone through the fire and learned some things the hard way. Now as he headed home, he fully expected to be shunned, and possibly not even welcomed home.

But as his father saw him in the distance, he ran to meet him, ecstatic that his lost son had returned home.

And so it is in our own lives. We make mistakes. Sometimes they are major mistakes. And sometimes we pay a dear price for those mistakes. And when we’ve walked through the fire, hopefully we’ve learned from it.

And we may feel like there is no way that God can still love us afterward. We feel dirty, stupid and unworthy of being loved.

But if we have a genuinely repentant heart, God welcomes us home with open arms, rejoicing that we’ve come back to Him.

We just have to humble ourselves and go to Him. He will never throw our mistakes in our face.

Is God speaking to you today? Don’t ignore His voice. And don’t be afraid to go to Him. He’s waiting for you with his arms wide open.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-15

Hosea 6:1 (NKJV) 1 Come, and let us return to the Lord; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.

A father or mother will discipline their child if they see them doing wrong. With love comes discipline, because we don’t want to see them get hurt.

When things aren’t going right for us at times, it’s not always the devil attacking us. Sometimes it’s God Himself dealing with us and trying to get our attention.

In this verse it shows that He, God, has torn and stricken them. God dealt with them in His own way. But, it also says that if they return to Him, repent and get back on the right track, He will HEAL!

If this is happening to you today, maybe it’s time to take a good look at the situation. Ask God what needs to be changed up.

Maybe we are living a double life, good in church and bad outside of church?

Maybe we are playing the field, so to speak. In other words, God’s not our first love. Other things come before Him and above Him. Money, sex, work or family?

God looks at the heart and He will surely get our attention. It’s up to us to take the time to put two and two together and make the changes so that we can be healed and move forward in our relationship with Him, and in everything else He has for us.

Love in Christ,
