Bible Verse of The Day – 12-28-20

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV) 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

Want to know what one of the biggest problems is with humanity when it comes to our walk with God?

It’s waiting for God to do what He needs to do in order to accomplish His end goals.

Oh, how we squirm, object, holler and throw tantrums when we have to wait on Him!

But if we learn to wait on Him, after a while we will see that He works it all out, and it’s beautiful in the end.

How He does this can’t always be explained. He just does it.

It’s not the “how” that’s important. It’s the doing. And God’s specialty is doing.

Oh, and for His timing? It’s never, ever wrong.

Be still. Wait. And trust.

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-22-20

Galatians 1:15-17 (NKJV) 15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, 16 to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.

Waiting on God, and understanding His timing, is probably one of the hardest things we can do as believers.

Our flesh almost always wants to act right away when we get understanding about something, or when we feel like we’re supposed to make a change. It’s just a natural reaction.

In the verses above, Paul talks about his conversion to Christianity, and what happened immediately afterward.

Most of us might think that Paul got knocked to the ground, met Jesus and then took off on his evangelistic journeys right away. This isn’t how it happened, though!

Immediately after his conversion, Paul was led to Damascus, and then spent three days waiting for Ananias to come and restore his sight. During that time, he neither ate nor drank.

Once Ananias came, and Paul’s sight was restored, he spent some time there with some of the other disciples, but then he left and wasn’t heard from again for 3 years!

During this time, Paul spent time in a wilderness area, being prepared for his ministry by God. It was only after this preparation period that he returned to Damascus, and then onward to Jerusalem, where he met with Peter and other disciples, face to face, for the first time.

God was preparing Paul for a mighty work. It was something that Paul would do for the remainder of his life here on earth. And he took the time necessary to wait on God to release Him into that work.

This is a great lesson for all of us to learn from, especially when it comes to understanding God’s timing, and the importance of waiting on God.

There will be times in our lives when God shows us something, and we see results, or take action, right away.

Then, there will be other times when He reveals something to us, and He wants us to wait, not doing anything or saying anything to anybody about it until He releases us to do so.

This is a very hard thing for us. We don’t always understand it, and we also wrestle with waiting.

But as we grow in our walk with Him, and we begin to get understanding in certain areas, we will begin to see this more clearly. We will also develop a better understanding of the importance of waiting on Him, not moving or speaking until He says to do so.

If Paul could wait three years, it’s pretty safe to say that we can probably wait, too.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-8-18

Romans 5:6 (NKJV) 6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

If something is done in due time, it’s the same as saying it is done in the right time.

Have you ever heard someone say that something will get done in due time? I have! I grew up in a family of 9 children.

“When will supper be ready, Mom? In due time. Help me set the table now”.

“When can I get those new shoes, Mom? In due time. Help put away the laundry now.”

“When can I start to date, Dad? In due time. Don’t worry about it. For now, go out and play” .

This was a pretty common phrase growing up in my family. All it meant was that it would happen in the right time and don’t question it. Of course, we didn’t like to hear that answer, because it didn’t seem like a straight-forward answer. However, it was indeed the answer we needed.

The scripture says that Jesus died for the ungodly in due time. In the right time. Before that, we were without strength and weak.

We don’t need to remain in this condition any longer. Through the death of Christ, His crucifixion, His righteous blood was sacrificed for us, so that we would be made whole and strong in Him.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (NKJV) 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Due time is here and now. God made provision for us. Let us put on His whole armor today and walk in it. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-2-17

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 3 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…

God’s timing and seasons are something that we teach about frequently.

Why? Because understanding God’s timing, and recognizing it in our lives is critical to us doing the right things at the right times.

Doing the right thing at the wrong time is equivalent to doing the wrong thing.

When that happens, it can cause us to question God and wonder why He isn’t answering our prayers or fulfilling His promises in our lives.

But, in reality, God is right on time, as He always is. It’s us that’s off. This happens more often than we know.

Sometimes we know we’re supposed to make a move, a choice or a decision that requires action on our part. So, we go ahead and do it. And then things don’t turn out the way we thought they would, or the way we wanted them to.

This is due to us only hearing part of what God has told us. Sometimes this happens because we have “selective hearing”. We hear what God tells us and key in on the part that we like!

But we can sometimes ignore the parts that we don’t like so much because they might require us to wait. Or maybe they require us to take certain steps that we either don’t like taking, or maybe don’t know how to take.

Other times it happens simply because we misunderstood God or didn’t hear Him correctly.

But don’t fret. This is all part of the learning process in our walk with God. We start out as infants, and then we grow, a little at a time. Soon we become toddlers and then we move up to elementary school.

And, if we stay diligent, and we keep learning and trusting God, we will move on through high school and graduate, with honors.

So, don’t give up. Don’t grow impatient. And don’t get discouraged if you get it wrong more than once. Keep pressing in, growing your relationship with Him. In due time, the pieces will come together and we will learn to move in His perfect timing.
