Bible Verse of The Day – 3-26-19

Matthew 5:6 (NKJV) 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Hunger means to have a strong desire or to crave something.

Some people may think that signing up for every program at church is going to fill that hunger and quench that thirst. Although it is good to be involved in classes and similar things, we also need to make sure we are getting that one-on-one time with God. That includes being quiet and just listening for Him.

To get such quietness we need to lessen our load, slow down and cut off those things that are causing us to be too busy for anything else.

Hungering after God means that within our hearts we are craving and desiring more of Him. But it is hard to get that fulfillment if we are busy with everything else.

Sometimes the things we do to try to find God get us so busy that we actually lose touch with Him. We have to discern and know when to pull away and rest in His presence. He alone will satisfy our hunger.

So, remember, programs are Good. But God is the only One who will truly satisfy!

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-17-18

Luke 19:2-4 (NKJV) 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way.

Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus. He knew that Jesus was different. He knew that Jesus was not like so many of the other religious people of that day who shunned those who were perceived as being different or unworthy of their time and attention.

Zacchaeus also knew that seeing Jesus was difficult because so many others wanted to see Him too. They crowded in around Him and pressed in tightly when He passed through their villages and cities.

But Zacchaeus had a plan. Being a short man, he knew that the only way he would be able to see Jesus was to climb a tree and rise above the multitudes, making a way for him to see. So he climbed a Sycamore tree!

You see, Zacchaeus knew that Jesus was worth whatever effort it would take, even just to see Him!

Zacchaeus just wanted to see Him. Others wanted to touch Him.

What about us? How much effort are we willing to put forth? How much are we willing to do when it comes to getting to Jesus?

We all need something from God. Some of us need small things. Some of us need big things. But not a single one of us will ever get what it is that we’re seeking if we just sit by and do nothing.

Thinking it is not enough. Saying it isn’t enough. We need to do something!

Today is the day to get up, take action and rise above the crowd, doing whatever is necessary to get to Jesus. Then and only then will we get whatever it is that we need from Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-4-17

Ecclesiastes 1:14 (NKJV) 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

Life can seem as though it has no meaning sometimes. We can go from day to day, wondering why we’re here, why we’re alive, and whether our life has any real value.

Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived. He was also the richest man who ever lived. He had everything that any man (or woman) would ever want or need.

And yet, after living and experiencing all that he walked through, he concluded that life is only vanity and grasping for the wind.

We might look at Solomon’s life and wonder why he would say that. After all, he had everything. He had wealth, wisdom, pleasures and so much more. Why, after being blessed so abundantly, would he write such things?

The answer is simple. He saw the frivolity in those things. He saw how people spent their lives chasing after wealth, pleasure and other tangible things. And he understood that those things are worth nothing when compared to living a life that pleases God.

Solomon had more wives and concubines that possibly any other man that lived. He didn’t lack attention or physical pleasure.

He had more wealth than any other man has ever been able to accumulate. He never lacked any kind of possessions.

And he had a kingdom of people at his service. He was well taken care of.

So, there is a valuable lesson for all of us in his words.

If someone who had as much as Solomon did would speak such words about life being vanity and grasping for the wind, while being so abundantly blessed with worldly materials and comforts, it would benefit each and every one of us to pay close attention and make sure that our time and efforts are put into pursuing God, and not the things of this world.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-9-16

Revelation 22:20 (NKJV) 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

He is coming quickly!

There is no doubt that we are living in the last days. None of us knows for sure the exact timing of everything. But the signs of Christ’s return are mounting and building every day!

It doesn’t matter what country you call home, there is unrest at levels we have never seen before. Chaos seems to be the norm, more often than not.

But don’t be afraid! None of this has caught God off guard. He is still on the throne and in full control. The world is not going to spin out of orbit only to crash and burn. Absolutely not!

In these times that we live, it’s more important than ever to press in to God, draw near to Him and heed His words.

Don’t fear. Don’t fret. Don’t run away.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

We need to draw near to God, turn from our sins and let Him purify our hearts.

And on that day, when Jesus returns, whether it’s tomorrow or years from now, we can stand before Him and hear Him say “well done, good and faithful servant.

Matthew 25:23 (NKJV) 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-14-15

Luke 8:43-44 (NKJV) 43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.

Many of us are familiar with this story. The woman was afflicted with a flow of blood that hadn’t stopped for 12 years. She had been seen by many doctors and had spent much money on trying to be cured. None of it worked. To be blunt, she was desperate!

As Jesus passed through her town, this woman heard about it and decided to do something radical. She determined in her heart to do whatever it took to press in, push through the crowd surrounding Jesus, and touch the hem of His garment.

Her desperation drove her to do something that would put her at risk, in light of the fact that Jews viewed women who were bleeding as unclean.

But she pushed her fear aside and then pushed through the crowd and touched the Master, instantly receiving her healing.

Now what about us? How willing are to risk everything to press in and touch Jesus, or even the hem of His garment?

This isn’t just about healing. And it’s not even just about faith. It’s about our willingness to push aside the buzz and busyness of our lives and sit at His feet, giving Him the time He deserves.

Remember, this woman put her life at risk to do what it took to touch Jesus and get what she needed.

Are we willing to be that radical? Can we push aside all of the things that try to hold us back and keep us from our Master?

If we are ever to grow in our walk with God, we need to recognize those things that are coming between us and God, and do whatever we need to do to break through them and touch the hem of His garment.

There, in His presence, we will find exactly what we need.
