Bible Verse of The Day – 8-3-16

Mark 9:29 (NKJV) 29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

Fasting plays an important part in seeing things through at times. But no one really wants to fast. We don’t see people running around saying, “oh boy, I get to fast today. Yippy!”.

Why? Because it’s HARD.

Going without eating is not easy for anyone. Our body wants to eat. It wants what it wants when it wants it and can be very demanding at times. When we say NO, it has a fit.

Fasting takes discipline. When it comes to fasting, we have to stick to what we have set out to do and when that hunger kicks in, we can’t let it change our minds.

If we are in a situation where we want to see change, but nothing seems to be happening, be prayerful and ask God today if there is more we need to be doing.

Fasting is required in certain situations.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-3-16

Psalm 4:1 (NKJV) 4 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

Prayer is powerful. It’s there, in prayer, that God relieves us of our distress!

When we run into a situation, the first thing it can cause is distress. Whether it is for us or someone else. Things could be going along really great. But if something wrong shows up, bam… how quickly stress can come on us and cause chaos.

Prayer is the best place to go with it. Instead of sharing it with others, take it to God. That is where we will find true relief.

Sometimes we wait, we ponder on it, and we try to figure it all out on our own. If we can’t figure it out, we share it with others, hoping to get some kind of relief and answers. FINALLY, after all that, we are so tired that we give up and say, “Ok, I guess I have to get prayer.”

Go, get with God first. If we can learn to immediately go to God, our relief will come quicker and it is an opportunity to show God that our faith is in HIM alone!!

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-16

1Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV) 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Today, I want to take a few minutes and thank God for something that happened last week.

We got a call while eating lunch one day recently. It was my sister. She said to me, “our brother just fell 15 – 20 feet out of a tree and he landed on a stone wall. They are rushing him to RI hospital.”

We all know in this area that if someone goes to RI hospital, it’s a serious situation.

As we raced off to the hospital, the only words that could come out of my mouth were, “Oh God, Oh God, Oh God”.

When we arrived at the hospital, we found him being prepared to have a tube inserted into his side, to drain air and fluid from his chest cavity. He had several broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a liver laceration, and a bruised lung.

I got a text message on my phone during that time from someone that knew nothing about the accident and it read, “sometimes all it takes is just one prayer to change everything”. It couldn’t have come at a better time.

Thankfully, there was no damage to his spine or his brain. Considering his fall and what could have happened, they said he was “very lucky”.

He went into the hospital on a Thursday afternoon, into the Intensive Care Unit of the Trauma Center, and was released that Sunday afternoon. Just 3 short days later.

I wouldn’t call that luck. It was only God and His faithfulness!

My brother is driving now, moving around pretty good and getting things done.

We believe that prayer is so powerful, even if it is just “Oh God”. He knows!!

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 pray without ceasing…

Today, take a break and spend it with God. Love on Him and thank Him. Let Him know how much we appreciate Him. And if there is an “Oh God prayer”, let it out. It’s good enough. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-16

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

This is a verse we’ve taught on many times in the past. Today, however, we want to teach on it from a bit different point of view.

We need to put God first in everything we do. And this is how this verse usually gets presented.

But there is another area where we may not be putting God first, so let’s talk about that for a minute.

Prayer. This is an area where we tend to spend time asking God for things we need, want or desire. And there’s nothing wrong with asking God for things. The Bible says in James 4:2 that we have not because we ask not.

But when and how we ask is just as important as the asking itself. Here’s what we mean.

When we talk with God, do we spend more time asking for stuff than we do praising, worshiping and thanking Him for who He is and what He has already done for us? Do we dive right in to all the things we want, and then utter a quick “thank you” before we quit praying and head on our way?

Putting God first in everything also includes in our prayer time. We need to be sure to spend time giving to God before we ask Him to give to us.

No, this isn’t bribery or sweet-talking God. It’s just a matter of giving Him what He deserves!

And as we learn to do this, we will be more likely to experience a more powerful prayer life because we will be focusing more on God and less on ourselves. This will help make us more sensitive to Him. And that’s always a good thing.

So before we start running down our list of wants and needs every time we talk with God, let’s be sure to spend some time giving God the honor and glory He deserves. And let Him do some of the talking too.

After all, what He says is well worth listening to!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-9-16

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 pray without ceasing,

We don’t have to have a certain place where we go to pray. We can pray right where we are at.

Sometimes all it is is listening; Being quiet long enough to let His Spirit speak, no matter where we are. We can do that anywhere, any place, at any time.

We may be somewhere out and about and He may put someone or something on our hearts right then and there. We don’t have to wait until we get home to pray or until we go to church on Sunday or Wednesday, etc.

We may be standing in line at the grocery store when God decides to speak to our heart about a situation. Right then and there we can pray, silently to ourselves, lifting it up and being in agreement with Him.

We may be awakened sometimes at night when God wants us to pray for something specific. It’s important we don’t just blow it off. Pray for what He shows us and then we can go back to sleep. It’s as simple as that.

Prayer isn’t complicated. We just need to pray as the Holy Spirit leads us, as we continue in our daily things.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-15

James 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Prayer is the tool that God has given to each one of His children to help us in our situations; to help bring people out of trials, to help people get healed, to help people find Him. It’s through prayer that God will reach down from His throne and help us.

We can invest our time in all sorts of things; work, kids, family, church, etc., but the most important investment we can make is in time spent at the feet of Jesus Christ.

Through Salvation He has made a way for us to come and pray to the Father. There, laying down our concerns and our troubles, we can cry out for others and to get God’s answers.

It takes one person with a strong desire, to unite with God and see His change for whatever situation we find ourselves in.

Praying is up to us to do. It’s up to us to take hold of and invest our time in prayer. It’s more powerful than we could ever know. But if we don’t see it in this light, if we don’t see the importance and the power that it carries through Christ Jesus, we will just leave situations and circumstances on the table and watch them fall into the hands of the enemy.

We have a powerful tool that sits within us. What good will it do if we just leave it dormant?

Mark 1:8 (NKJV) 8 I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

He has given us a way to be accurate in our prayers. Understanding and knowledge lives within us, through His spirit. He gave us what it takes to go to battle, by the power of the Holy Spirit. We need to ask the Lord to baptize us in the Holy Spirit and to lead us in our prayers.

If you are the only man or woman in your country that prays, you can begin to turn that place around. If you are the only man or woman on your job that prays, you can turn that place around. If you are the only man or woman in your home that prays, you can turn that home around. And if you are the only man or woman in your church that prays, say it with us, I can turn that place around!

As we let the Holy Spirit guide us in our prayers, we will make a difference right where we are at today!! Invest our time each day in prayer God will turn things around.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-20-15

Luke 6:12 (NKJV) 12 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Taking the time we need to pray things through is so important when making decisions. There have been times when we have messed up on our choices because we moved too quickly and didn’t take the proper amount of time to seek God first, for the answers.

When having to make decisions, and things around us get louder and busier, we need to find a place or time when it is quiet. Jesus prayed through the night and then chose His apostles.

Luke 6:13 (NKJV) 13 And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles:

In prayer is where it all begins.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-7-15

Isaiah 26:4 (NKJV) 4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

Spending time in prayer is the most powerful thing we can do for our marriage or someone else’s marriage, for our family or someone else’s family, for the church and for the world as a whole.

Strength, healing, deliverance, and VICTORY come through prayer, through trusting in our Lord.

If we want to see change and get answers, it will take us putting time aside, writing down the things God has shown us that need changing and pray them through, trusting HIM for the answer and the victory in each battle.

We want to see change. God will bring change.

He is STRONG. Trust in HIM!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-9-15

Mark 1:35 (NKJV) 35 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

Nobody wants to get up before daylight, nobody. But it is crucial at times that we push ourselves to do it.

Jesus got up early and He went to a solitary place and what did He do in that place? Sleep? Work? Watch videos? No, He prayed, early in the morning before daylight.

Why? Prayer is what stops the devil in his tracks. Prayer is what starts our day off on the right track. Prayer is what gets us answers.

Are we done with suffering? Have we had enough of being bullied around by the enemy? If we can say yes, then we are ready to end this chapter and start a new one.

Prayer will win those battles for us, so get up! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-15

Psalm 18:6 (NKJV) 6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.

Keep pressing in to God. He has a plan for your life. We are praying for God’s answer and direction to come to you.

Some of you are struggling in your marriage and you don’t know what to do. God knows and has the answers to the problem. Get with Him.

Some are struggling financially; you need money and a job, and don’t know what job to go after. God knows. Get with Him.

Some are struggling with your children and their rebellion, trying to raise them on your own and you have no clue how to handle them at this point. You are exhausted and overwhelmed by it all. God knows. Get with Him.

Some of you are struggling with health issues, you are on the verge of throwing in the towel and giving up on believing that He will heal you. You think He has forgotten you and that you deserve whatever sickness you have. God knows what is causing your symptoms. Get with Him.

Some are trying to have children and can’t for some time now. You’re on the verge of giving up and accepting that it’s not meant for you. God knows. Get with Him.

Prayer is powerful. Cry out to Him today. He hears your cry. He will answer you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-15

James 5:16 (NKJV)16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

God created us, His body, to help each other.

He knew that we couldn’t make it on our own, so He not only gave us His Spirit, The Helper, but he told us to help each other and lean on each other.

Being a follower of Christ is about more than just laying claim to a Savior and going to church on Sunday!

Jesus told us that we are to love each other as He loved us.

John 15:17 (NKJV) 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

As we learn to love each other and pray for each other, we will learn that our own wants and needs aren’t always as big a deal as we might think they are. And it’s not that our needs aren’t important, but sometimes we need to learn to put ourselves second, and others first.

This can be difficult at first, but as we let God grow us, stretch us and mature us, we’ll find it easier and easier to do.

Pray for one another.
