Bible Verse of The Day – 9-27-18

James 3:2 (NKJV) 2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

As a young child, I remember following my older siblings one day to an apple tree that belonged to our neighbor.

They helped me up into the tree and had me pick the apples and toss them down to them. It was fun and I was enjoying it!

Then I heard them yell, “quick, they’re home. Run!”.  But, they forgot one thing; ME! They left me in the tree.

The owner came to the tree and there I was, sitting in the tree, not knowing what was wrong. I just thought we were picking apples for Mom’s apple pie and that everything was happy and good.

They got me down from the tree and took me to my parents. Standing in front of my parents, I had to explain what I was doing in their tree.

I was sad after I learned what I was actually doing.

These are the consequences of following without understanding the how and why of it all. I was only little, but no matter the age, no matter the innocence, if we get caught up in the wrong place doing the wrong thing, there will be repercussions. Sometimes it can leave a scar.

There have been other times throughout my life when I blindly and innocently followed or got involved in things that I wished I hadn’t.

But, to hold onto those things as if they had just recently happened would be hurting and punishing me even more.

How do we change the past? How do we erase those things that came upon us innocently or unknowingly?

We cannot change the past. We can’t even change the future if we continue to wallow in the things that happened to us in the past.

We can only change today by taking that first step and letting the past be the past, and the future be the future.

We can’t be so hard on ourselves. Today is a new day. God wants to heal us.

Let go of what happened in the past and move on. Learn from it and try not to fall back into the same thing again. Take it one day at a time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-3-16

Zechariah 2:8 (NKJV) 8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.

If we need constant attention from our spouse, our family and/or our friends etc., there may be an underlying problem going on.

If we find ourselves getting upset, sad, depressed, or angry over not having enough attention at times, it could possibly be we are dealing with insecurities within ourselves.

We can’t always put the blame on someone else for not giving us the attention we feel we need. We need to face what is going on inside of us and get the right kind of help.

We may have been hurt from words or accusations spoken over us at one time or another.

Maybe someone has spoken down to us and made us feel inadequate, ignorant and not worth much. And now we strive for a certain amount of attention from certain people in order to make us feel better about ourselves.

No matter how much attention we get from others, it will not heal or take away the pain we feel from this kind of treatment, behavior or actions against us.

The words and feelings will torment us until we face it and get healing from God.

Because of what has been said or done to us at times, it may have scarred us, leaving us not sure of ourselves and insecure about who we are. This can cause us to constantly be demanding attention.

Striving to have all the attention will never fix the problem. There will never be enough attention to take it away.

We must rebuke the lies that have been spoken over us, about us and against us. We must also rebuke, in the name Jesus Christ, the negative and ignorant words that are trying to control us and our behavior.

Ask God to set us free and heal our mind and heart and help us to see ourselves the way He sees us, as the apple of His eye. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-7-15

John 10:14-15 (NKJV) 14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

The love that Jesus Christ has for us is beyond our comprehension. He laid down His life for us. What a selfless, beautiful love He has for us.

He doesn’t want us to pull away from Him just because we are not perfect or because we can’t seem to get it right at times. He knows our struggles and the weaknesses we have in certain areas.

He doesn’t look at where we have been or the things we have been involved in. He wants our heart and for us to love Him back.

Are we in bondage today? Are we a slave to unrighteous living?

Take a step toward God. His arms are open to us and He wants us to come home to Him. He wants to set us free from the bondage that holds us back from the beautiful relationship He has for us.

He loved us first, just as we are!

1 John 4:19 (NKJV) 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

Come home. Papa loves us more than we could ever imagine.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-26-15

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

We have all made mistakes. We’ve said and done things that we regret; things that have hurt others, things that have caused harm to ourselves and, even worse, things that have hurt God and disappointed Him.

We can’t go back and change those things, no matter how badly we’d like to. And sometimes we may sit and ponder on those things, wondering “what if”.

But those things, those mistakes, don’t make us who we are. They may be a part of who we were, but they’re not part of who we are  in Christ.

We don’t have to wallow in pity or drown in a sea of regret. Regret is like a disease that can eat us up from the inside, out, if we let it.

But our past is our past and if we are in Christ, if we have put our faith in Him, then what’s behind us is just that; behind us!

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Regardless of who you were before and what you might have done, you are now more than a conqueror in Christ. You have been washed in the blood and made whole again.

It’s time to pick ourselves up and move on, shaking those old things off and letting them fall to the ground.

Victory is ours in Jesus, and no matter what the devil tries to whisper in our ear, we are overcomers and conquerors.
