Bible Verse of The Day – 12-1-23

Nehemiah 1:4 (NKJV) 4 So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.

Nehemiah was not just a prophet of God, but also a mighty warrior for God who never bowed to fear or any tactics of the enemy.

He also trusted God with everything about his life, no matter what kind of obstacle stood before him.

In the verse above, he had just been told by a Jewish brother about the terrible situation with the Jews who had returned to Jerusalem from exile. And he was also informed about the broken condition of Jerusalem.

The people were in great distress and reproach, and the walls of the city were in ruins.

Nehemiah was in great distress when he learned all of this, so he sat down and wept. And he mourned for many days afterward.

Many people might simply throw their hands up and give up if they heard news like this.

But Nehemiah was a warrior.

Instead of allowing this news to crush his spirit and defeat him, as he mourned for many days, he also fasted and prayed to God.

He not only poured out his heart before God in his brokenness, but he also repented on behalf of his people and sought a solution to this terrible situation.

Instead of drowning in his sorrow, he made a choice to help fix what had been broken.

There are some valuable lessons we can all learn from Nehemiah!

It is always easier to throw in the towel and concede defeat in these kinds of situations. This is why it is important for us to seek God in everything that we face.

God is the Giver of solutions, the One who will shore up a broken spirit, and the Master of rebuilding that which is broken.

We would strongly encourage you to read the book of Nehemiah in its entirety and glean the valuable nuggets of truth that are found there.

It is not only inspirational, but it will also teach us a lot about learning to be steadfast in any battle, even when it may look like we are defeated.

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Let us learn to trust Him and walk in His faithfulness!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-12-23 – We Are Accountable

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus!

We have a new video for you today. It is called, “We Are Accountable”.

In this new video, we teach about the fact that, as followers of Christ, we are accountable to God for our actions.

God rewards each of us based on what we do and the words we speak.

While this is a serious topic, the video presents it in a lighthearted way that is fun even as we learn and grow.

We love you all very much!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-28-23

Daniel 1:8 (NKJV) 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

I have pondered on Daniel and his life quite a lot over the last couple years.

The situation he was in is one that I contemplate frequently, especially considering today’s situation in the world.

I have conversed with God about this many times; what if the nation I live in was completely taken over by a tyrannical government that banned the worship of the one true God?

My question isn’t about whether I would deny God or not. I know the answer to that. It is an unequivocal, “no”.

I would not deny God.

But would I be able to do as Daniel did, serving an evil king with excellence while holding back the words I would like to say about truth, righteousness and God’s judgement?

Daniel was an incredible man of God. He had wisdom and discernment that came to him by the Spirit of God. But Daniel had to be disciplined and wise enough to heed what the Holy Spirit showed him and told him to do or not to do.

Daniel’s convictions were so strong that he chose to disobey the king’s decree very early on in his tenure as a servant to that king.

And yet, through his disobedience, God moved.

This isn’t to say that disobedience is what caused God to move. It wasn’t.

It was why Daniel disobeyed that caused God to move on his behalf; he stood for what was right and true, and did it in a way that didn’t involve him making accusations against the king about other observations that he had made.

In other words, Daniel stayed on topic with his actions and didn’t go on to expound on the many evils that he saw in the king or his kingdom.

So, how would we act or behave in this same situation?

Would we heed the promptings and leading of the Holy Spirit, allowing ourselves to be used by God to bring about His justice, His honor and His glory before the eyes of a pagan king, eventually leading to his faith in God?

Or would we follow our own flesh and emotions, speaking when we should be silent, and acting when we should quietly submit, never allowing God to use us as He wanted to do?

Something for us to seriously ponder on.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-27-23

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

One morning in my quiet time with the Lord, I said, “Lord I just want to please You”. And I got a quick response back from Him.

“You please me when I ask you to do something. And even though you don’t know why, or even understand it, you do it anyways by faith. It brings me great pleasure when you obey”.

What did Jesus’ Mother say to the servants at the wedding?

She said, “do whatever He tells you to do”.

John 2:5 (NKJV) 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

We don’t do it doubtfully. We don’t do it wondering if it will work. We don’t even give a thought as to how it may turn out.

No.

We just do our part by faith, and He will complete the rest.

Are you asking God how you can please Him today?

Whatever He tells you to do, do it! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-25-23

Jonah 1:17 (NKJV) 17 Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

It’s important to take notice that the Lord prepared this great fish that would swallow Jonah, hold him in his belly and spit him out when Jonah’s heart got right.

It wasn’t the doing of Jonah’s enemy, or anyone else for that matter. This was God’s doing.

God asked Jonah to bring a message to Nineveh. But instead, Jonah ran away. He got on a boat to go somewhere other than Nineveh.

Now, you might think, “well, that’s Jonah’s choice. Let him go”.

But God knew Jonah’s heart. And Jonah’s actions proved what God already knew. He was on the run!

The boat that Jonah was on began to face some terrible weather conditions.

The men on board prayed and prayed to their gods. But then they realized when it didn’t cease that there was something else going on. And they knew that Jonah was the cause of it all. They knew he needed to pray to his God

They found Jonah and asked him if he knew anything about this. Jonah told them it was because of him. He was the reason for the weather disturbances.

And he urged them men to just toss him overboard.  So, they did!

And The great fish that God prepared was right there to swallow him up. And he was in its belly for 3 days.

God will often respond to disobedience in ways we may not like. And this can cause us much fear and discomfort.

Just as Jonah did after being 3 days in the belly of this big fish, we will likely have a change of heart when facing the consequences of our choices.

What is going on in our personal lives today?

Maybe it’s not our enemy that’s causing our discomfort or the things that are taking place. Is it God saying, “hey, I asked you to do something and I’m not letting you run from it this time.”?

We have to be willing to obey God in everything He asks us to do, not just in the things that come easy for us or the things we enjoy doing.

Most times we don’t get to pick and choose. And if we’re not careful, God just might send us a “great Jonah fish” and cause us to stop and get things right. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-17-23

Deuteronomy 5:32-33 (NKJV) 32 “Therefore you shall be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. 33 You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.

If we look at these two verses, we can see that they are a formula for success, handed directly from Moses to the Israelites.

The success he was steering them toward was not what most people would view as ordinary, everyday success. It was, however, a “recipe” for a successful walk with God.

Inside of this recipe were some key ingredients that were necessary for the formula to “work properly”.

The liability for all this working as intended was squarely on the shoulders of the individuals.

They should “be careful to do as the Lord their God had commanded them”.

They needed to heed His instructions, endeavoring in their hearts to follow what He had told them as closely as possible, being careful not to stray to the left or the right.

If they walked “in all the ways which the Lord their God had commanded”, He promised that all would be well with them, and that they would prolong their days in the land which He had promised them.

God wanted their hearts to desire to do the right things; the things that pleased Him.

And this is what He asks of us today.

He simply wants our whole hearts; nothing more and nothing less.

He desires us to put Him first in everything, seeking Him wholeheartedly.

He wants us to burn with passion for our relationship with Him.

If we can burn with passion for a carnal, earthly relationship, why can’t we burn with passion for our relationship with the One who created us and gave us the breath of life?

Let us all ponder on this and then take whatever actions are necessary to make it happen.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-28-22

Genesis 12:1 (NKJV) 1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.

As I have recently been studying people of great faith in the Bible, I have noticed a common thread that runs among them; they never asked God why.

God would tell them what to do, and they would obey.

Abraham was the first person where I noticed this.

God had told him on more than one occasion to do something that was out of the ordinary; beyond human comprehension.

And these things that God told him to do made no sense to the human mind. Take a look!

  • Leave your homeland and go somewhere that I will show you.
  • You will become the father of a great nation even though you have no children, and you are very old.
  • Trust me to give you a son even though you’re old and your wife is beyond child-bearing age.
  • Take your son to the top of the mountain and offer him as a sacrifice.

And these are only a few examples from Abraham’s life. There are many others who had the same kinds of things happen to them.

One of the things that stood out to me is that Abraham never asked God why.

In human terms, he had the right to do so. Our flesh would think that this would not only be normal, but obligatory.

We need to remember, though, that faith operates outside of human terms and outside the boundaries of human intellect.

So, as we learn to trust God more, we also tend to question Him less. It just comes with the territory of walking in faith and knowing who our God is.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-30-22

John 12:27 (NKJV) 27 “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour.

Jesus asked, “what shall I say?”. And then He answered His own question.

Jesus came for this hour, for one purpose, to glorify His Father on the cross by His sacrificial death.

He was troubled because He knew what He was about to face. It was not going to be easy, not even for the KING of kings, knowing that what He came to do was fast approaching.

What He did for His Father should be the heart of the church. It should move us. It is the very breath of Jesus’s work here; to see His Father glorified in everything He did!

He went to great lengths to obey the Father. And we, His children, should have the same heart as we learn to follow all of the examples set by Jesus in our individual walk with God.

We too may find ourselves troubled at times when we are called to obey and do something specific to glorify the Father.

These are moments when “the rubber meets the road,” so to speak. And we have to decide whether we will surrender to Someone greater and give up our own will in order for His will to be done.

It’s a challenge, and it can sometimes be very troubling. But it is worth every bit of that trouble if we choose to follow through.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-24-22

Jeremiah 24:7 (NKJV) 7 Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.

Over the years, as I have drawn closer to God and studied His word more, I have come to understand that there are two things that please God immensely; surrender and obedience.

These two things in our lives will help us to walk our walk with Him in a way that’s pleasing more than anything else.

Interestingly, these two things go hand in hand.

You see, in order to obey God, we need to surrender.

Surrender has to come first because it helps us to be more willing to obey. A heart that’s not surrendered will never be as willing to obey God as a heart that has fully surrendered (submitted).

Surrender (submission) comes only as we learn of Him and allow Him to change our heart.

It requires that we genuinely pursue Him and put Him first in everything that we do; even in those things that might seem insignificant to us, or in things that we might think don’t matter to Him.

Everything matters.

Every choice that we make and every little thing that we do will either take us closer to Him or further away.

So, once we have made the choice to surrender to Him, we will no longer be living our lives to please ourselves, but to bring honor and glory to Him. And this will cause us to obey Him.

This is why it’s so important for us to understand that He wants our whole heart, not just a piece of it.

Let’s give Him our whole heart. And in doing so, we will more readily surrender and obey Him in all that we do. Amen
