Bible Verse of The Day – 11-28-23

John 17:26 (NKJV) 26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

That the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.

Jesus wants this love to continue to be active in us, His followers.

This love that the Father has for Him is something He came to exemplify throughout His life here on earth. His death on the cross for us was the biggest sacrifice anyone could have ever shown. He did it because of such love.

It was through His teachings, His healings, miracles, signs and wonders that we see such love in action. This love was meant to transform our hearts, that in return we would follow Him.

What a powerful prayer from Jesus for all believers. This was His heart for us.

It’s hard to understand such a love and to see it in action. But as we take one step at a time, declaring the name of Jesus, and walking out what He shows us through His teachings, we too will share in such a love for each other and those we don’t even know.

John 13:35 (NKJV) 35 By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

Will we walk in this love?

We can if we take one step at a time, and learn from His example.

A good place to start is by praying for one another, our brothers and sisters in Christ. We all need prayer.

And by doing this, we will learn what it means to love one another.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-21-23

1 John 4:12 (NKJV) 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

If we are born again, we will love other believers. Our new birth will be evidenced through our conduct and behavior.

But learning how to love like this takes time. We have to be willing to deny ourselves of our own wants on behalf of others.

We have to be disciplined.

We will face new situations daily and will need to learn how to handle them according to the leading of God’s Spirit.

We have to have a strong desire to willingly want to walk out this love that God talks about in this verse by praying more for those people who do things that get to us, concern us and are disturbing to us.

We have to learn to take them to God first without complaining or talking about them to others.

This love will cause us to stick things out and push through uncomfortable situations or places that we can’t stand to be in or around, letting God teach us how we can be productive in sharing His perfect love.

As we walk in such love we will find ourselves at a breaking point regarding our flesh, allowing it to be ruled by the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:1 (NKJV) 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

When we step aside in our flesh, letting the Spirit of God show us how to handle certain situations, it’s then that people will see God’s love strongly moving through us.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-29-21

Matthew 5:43-44 (NKJV) 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you

How do we this? This has got to be one of the hardest things to do.

Love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to those who hate us and PRAY for those who spitefully use and persecute us. Wow!

As I was reading this morning, and I saw this verse, I was like, “God, help us. We can’t do this without You. Because I know who I am and what my flesh is like.

I usually just run away from people who treat me badly.

I know how I am. And if someone does me wrong, well they’d better look for another friend, because I don’t go for it.

I just don’t like to be around people like this.

And one more thing; these types of people pull the worst out of me. So, I try to stay away; far away”.

In the scripture above, we are given clear-cut directions on how to love like God.

This does not come natural to us; it is not a normal fleshly behavior. As a matter of fact, our flesh would like it better if we could hate our enemy. Now that would be easy to do, right?!

The point here is that we need to learn to love like God. After all, we are His children and we need to emulate His ways.

We need to be like Papa in every way. And this will take a lot of letting Him mature us in the things we should do.

If we can learn to walk in this kind of love, what does the Word of God say about it?

Matthew 5:48 (NKJV) 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

This does not mean that we will be perfect and never sin. The perfect that the scripture is speaking of here is the way we should love others; the same way He loves us.

Even in very hard and difficult situations, even in their sin, this kind of loving others is God’s perfect love.

You see, it takes discipline to walk in this. It takes obedience to tame that fleshly desire that otherwise wants to lash out, call them names or argue our point.

It takes absolute Holy Spirit-led control over our emotions and attitude. It takes a huge change of heart.

That, my friend, will only happen if we submit our fleshly, hard heart to Him and let Him change it; let Him give us a new heart.

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-12-21

Galatians 5:14 (NKJV) 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Love your neighbor.

Jesus said this was second only to loving God.

Loving God is easy. Loving others, though? Now that can be a challenge for all of us at times.

People can test us in every way possible. And when certain types of people start pushing our buttons, we have to rely heavily on the Holy Spirit to keep us loving them and not wanting to lash out at them and spew hatred.

The times in which we are living are especially difficult. The enemy is trying his best to divide and conquer. Nothing is “normal” anymore.

Some days it looks like he is winning, I will admit. But I know that God is on the throne and He is still in control of it all.

There are some things that just need to play out, and they can be painful to watch sometimes.

But our call is to keep loving people and letting God guide our every step. And that is exactly what I intend to do, even when it’s difficult to carry out.

No, none of us will ever hit it perfectly all the time. And sometimes we may miss it badly.

But if our spirit is willing, and our heart longs to please God, we will keep pushing forward and doing what we know is right overall.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-25-20

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

From this very first verse of the Bible, God was in the beginning!! He created the heavens and the earth.

In order for something to need creating, it means it didn’t exist to begin with. So, it was empty and void. I can’t even imagine what “nothing” looks like.

Genesis 1:2 (NKJV) 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

There is not anything clearer and simpler than this; God is the Creator of it all!

He created everything, including man.

Genesis 1:27 (NKJV) 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Therefore, being His creation, we are accountable to our Creator. What does He ask for? He asks for our hearts to become One with Him. Otherwise we will remain just His creation.

It we want to be more than this, and we want to be able to call Him Father, we have to follow the rules. His creation must be saved. We must have a new heart. A saved heart. A clean heart with a new spirit. And He will give us this as we exchange it for our heart of stone.

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

How do we get a clean, saved and renewed heart?

Romans 10:13 (NKJV) 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Jesus Christ, God’s Son, made this possible for us. As we believe in Him and call on His name, we will be saved.

The love that we have for Him will cause us to keep His word. And because of this, God the Father and Jesus the Son will both come and live in us.

John 14:23 (NKJV) 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

If we, as believers, are walking around with the Father and the Son living in us, the greatest love relationship ever known to man, what does that make us?

That makes us able to love one another, forgive each other and not hold grudges. Why? Because love, the very thing He commands us all to do, is actually dwelling and living in us!

John 15:17 (NKJV) 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-2-20

John 15:12 (NKJV) 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Where did we ever get the idea that we can just do the things we want, when we want and how we want? That idea comes from our flesh and its desires.

As I ponder on my life and the things that have brought me hardship, I realize it was mostly when I did just that; lived by my flesh. How about you?

The way we do things should change when we become a believer. When we begin to put Christ before our own wants and needs, our motives will change. And as we continue to grow, we are more determined to do the things God wants us to do.

You say, “I don’t know what God wants for me yet. I haven’t figured it out. I’m waiting for a sign or answer of some type from Him”.

Well, today, my friend, is your day for your answer to come alive and for a seed to be planted in you.

Are you ready to know what God wants for us all? We are going to take a look at what He says in His word.

Galatians 5:13 (NKJV) 13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

What is our call? To walk in such liberty. The word liberty means to be in a state of being free; Free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views. Freedom is the power or scope to act as one pleases.

In the scriptures, God’s freedom and liberty for our lives is to owe no man anything, but to love.

Romans 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Do not be in debt to anything or anyone. Not only did Jesus set us free from our sin and give us eternal life, His salvation, but He has given us liberty here on earth to walk and to choose to serve one another. What brings such freedom? Choosing servant-hood with love.

We have been called to walk in total freedom, to never return to bondage again. Liberty in Christ is being set free from our flesh and serving Him, through following His example in demonstrating such a love for one another.

Galatians 5:1 (NKJV) 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Stand fast and stay free, by serving God first and foremost with everything we have, and walk in the liberty of Christ, by which we have been called to love one another. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-25-19

Matthew 18:15 (NKJV) 15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

How many of us really want to do this? Be honest.

It’s so easy, instead, to go tell someone else what our brother/sister did against us. We get sympathy and it makes us feel better. But it never goes away or gets any better. That hurt feeling stays right there.

But in this verse, it says that the best way to handle it is to go and tell them. Talk to them, if we can, and tell them what we are upset about. Tell them what they have done that hurt us. If they listen and understand, things can be worked out.

I remember when my siblings and I would get bickering back and forth sometimes. My parents would let us get it out. They gave us time to work it out. But, after that was done and over, and we both said our parts; they would teach us the importance of letting it go.

In our home, it would not be unusual for us to say what we needed to say, but then just a short time later, we would be outside playing together again, like nothing had ever happened.

We all get upset over things now and then. Some days we are a little more sensitive than others. We are not going to be perfect at handling our emotions.

But if we learn to speak up and say something to the person that needs to be spoken to, instead of telling others, maybe we can settle our differences and be able to move past some of these things that like to keep us in bondage, feeling hurt and depressed.

Go. Talk to them. And pray that God will help us to work things out by saying it with the right heart, with the right tone and in the right timing. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ecclesiastes 3:7 (NKJV) 7 A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak;

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-7-19

1 John 4:12 (NKJV) 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

When people hear, see and watch us, and they see that we truly care about them or others, that love that they see will break the backbone of hardness.

This “God kind of love” takes a deliberate effort to obtain. It takes us giving way to Him daily, hourly, minute by minute. It takes surrendering our heart, mind and flesh, 24/7. In other words, we are not walking by our flesh anymore, but by His Spirit.

Romans 8:9 (NKJV) 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

The question is, can we do this?

The change comes when God is alive in us. His Holy Spirit must have a place of freedom to guide, teach and demonstrate through us. Even when we don’t understand it, we must give Him the right of way and let Him do what it takes to help us get the job done.

We may say, “how do we let the Holy Spirit do whatever needs to be done in that moment?”.

We humbly let go of what we once knew and we submit by following His promptings. Trust that as we step out, He will catch us and show us where to land our feet.

May His love be perfected in you and I as we love like no other.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-26-18

Ephesians 5:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

These two verses are the sum of who we should be as children of God.

Though it is impossible to be 100% like God, He has told us to be imitators of Him in the way we act.

Jesus showed the world a kind of love that no one had ever seen. He put much time and effort into showing God’s love for people by walking it out in person. His love wasn’t fake or simulated. It was genuine.

And it was so pure that most could not understand or comprehend it. It was beyond their ability to make sense of it with human intellect.

Jesus loved to the point of giving His life for us. He spared no expense at proving this love. And when everything was said and done, He commanded us to love one another, even as He had loved us.

John 13:34 (NKJV) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

So who are we to disagree or argue with God? How do we justify not loving others when Jesus himself has commanded us to do so?

We would find ourselves hard pressed to find a suitable excuse or justify our lack of love if we were to stand before Jesus and answer for that lack of love.

We all know that some people are harder to love than others. And some days it’s harder to love anyone than on other days.

But, with the Holy Spirit guiding us, and us obeying Him, our excuses drop like specks of dust in comparison to the love Jesus showed us all.

Church, let’s work hard to love the way God has told us to. It might be hard in the beginning, but as we let Him lead us, and we follow that leading, we will find it getting easier and easier.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-29-17

John 15:17 (NKJV) 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

After all that Jesus had said and done, and after all He had been through, He left the disciples with one very short commandment; Love One Another.

How incredibly profound is that?

You see, Jesus knew that of everything we could say and do, as His followers, the one thing that would have the most impact was love.

Emotions are very powerful things. We feel so many things. We feel excitement. We feel anger. We feel anticipation. We feel disappointment. And we feel love. And to love is the one thing that Jesus told us to do before He left us.

The apostle Paul reiterated this in one of his epistles.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Love overcomes everything, if we let it. But before love can overcome anything, we need to love others with a love that God has placed in us.

We need to love without judging. We need to love without condemning. We need to love just because. Because God has told us to.

And if we get God’s heart in us, then we can do this without hesitation.

Will it always be easy? Absolutely not. It will be the hardest thing we do in our lives. Loving someone who loves you back is easy. But loving someone who is spewing hatred at you is not easy at all.

So, it’s critical that we spend time with God, pressing in to Him and drawing near to Him so He can teach us how to love with His love.

It’s time for us all to step up to the plate and let God teach us what it really means to love one another, without boundaries, without hesitation and without reservation.

We need to love with abandon.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-7-16

John 13:35 (NKJV) 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

A person might think that loving others is easy. You know… that warm, fuzzy feeling that makes you feel happy all over. It seems like it should be so easy!

But loving can be tough. It’s easier to despise, dislike or hate. It takes no effort. It almost comes naturally for many people.

Why?

If we are believers, followers of Christ, why does this happen? Because the spirit of God doesn’t take precedence in our lives.

Hatred is a fleshly reaction to things we see that we don’t like. It’s a knee jerk reaction most times. But it doesn’t have to be. We can learn to love, even when our flesh wants to do otherwise.

Many of the problems we face could be solved more easily if we would train ourselves to listen to the Holy Spirit and move and act with love, instead of opening our mouths and letting words fly out that we immediately regret or think about later on and wish we hadn’t said.

The same goes for what we post and share on the internet. As we type and share things, we need to let God temper our thoughts and our written words, to be sure that they convey God’s love and His hope for humanity, instead of getting caught up in worldly rhetoric.

So we encourage everyone today to remember the words of Jesus as we interact with those around us.

Proverbs 10:12 (NKJV) 12 Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.
