Bible Verse of The Day – 5-20-23

Psalm 28:7 (NKJV) 7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

Trust in the Lord and be helped!

Why do we worry? Because when we are in a state of fear, we forget the sequence of steps we are to take.

What are those steps we need to remember?

Trust, obey and be of good courage!

We all get caught up in our situations and we simply forget the Lord is our strength.

Our strength is not found in our flesh and it’s limited understanding, although our flesh will argue, for it truly desires to be the hero.

In the end it will not get us far.

If we want His help, and we want to come out victoriously, we need to trust God, not our own intellect.

Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding…

Anything in my life that has been awesome has been accomplished when I gave it to God. That means I reach a point where I say, “Lord I can’t do this, please HELP me”. And then I follow His direction.

Sometimes it has been very hard to follow the steps that He gave me, and I have even questioned what He has asked me to do at times.

But, if I just do it and don’t try to add to what He is saying or take away from what He is showing me to do, it is amazing in the end.

I later realize why He did what He did and the way He did it.

I can honestly rejoice today and shout out, “He is a good Helper!”.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV) 6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-17-22

Psalm 6:2 (NKJV) 2 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.

The world tries to make us feel more powerful than we really are. It tries to give us a false sense of security.

The Bible reassures and teaches that when we give our heart to Christ, we need to learn to depend on Him! And we need to know that It’s OK for us to depend on Him frequently.

We need Him and all He has to offer us as we walk out our daily lives in this world.

If we try to be on our own, we will end up battered and bruised, with many unhealed wounds. This will leave us with deep scars. It will be a life of constant sorrow and loss.

A lot of times we will hear people say, “where is God when we need Him?”.

It’s only in a hard situation that they say this. If nothing difficult was happening, they would still be trying to get through life on their own.

But for some reason, they wait until they need a miracle to ask for help.

That’s not how we believers should live.

It’s important that we see the need to depend completely on God at all times, for we are weak in and of ourselves all the time. But through Him we are strong!

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

If we are suffering today in a situation that we cannot handle on our own, we must cry out for help.

Get serious with God and let Him get us on the other side of our problem. He will increase our strength and knowledge, giving us what we need to make it and not give up.

Psalm 105:24 (NKJV) 24 He increased His people greatly, And made them stronger than their enemies.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-21-22

John 16:24 (NKJV) 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Don’t neglect to ask the Father for those things we need to live and to do His work.

He expects to help us with our needs. And He has made a way for us to come to Him and ask, so that we may receive through His precious Son, Jesus Christ.

He is there to help us in so many ways, and yet sometimes we find it hard to simply ask.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, we will know exactly what to ask for, whether it is big or small.

We need to pay close attention to what the Holy Spirit lays on our heart to pray for at times. And when we ask for such things, it’s a good idea to write them down.

Why? Because it is important that we remember to thank Him for our answered prayers. And writing them down will help us do that!

May your joy be full, for He is faithful!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-13-21

1 Kings 3:7 (NKJV) 7 Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.

Here, Solomon is asking the Lord to help him in the position that He set him up in. This is a very important detail.

The Lord had placed Solomon where he was. And Solomon is speaking to the Lord saying, “you have made me king, but I don’t understand how or what to do. Please help me, guide me and give me Your understanding to handle this position. The people of Israel are too numerous for me to handle and I need Your understanding to know how”.

1 Kings 3:8-9 (NKJV) 8 And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted. 9 Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”

Don’t ever be afraid to ask God how.

He expects us to come to Him and ask whatever we may need from Him.

If we are shy or too prideful to ask, we will risk losing what He has placed in our hands.

You see, just because He places us in a position or on a new job doesn’t mean it’s ours forever. Maybe He has given us something to handle and take care of for a season or time.

God will guide us as to what to do, and how He wants it to be carried out.

God is moving His children into areas and places we’ve never been before, doing things we have never dealt with before; new ground and unfamiliar territory.

We are not alone. God Himself is with us all the more. Call on His name for help and clarity.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-21

Psalm 109:26 (NKJV) 26 Help me, O Lord my God! Oh, save me according to Your mercy…

God can do anything. Do we all agree?

Time after time we see all that He can and will do throughout the Old and New Testament.

So, if we can agree that He can do anything, why do we struggle in letting Him help us pull it together?

Why do we wait and try to do our best to fix things, and yet leave Him out of the picture? Are we trying to prove something to Him?

Let us stop trying to prove we can do it without Him. We need Him to help us deal with what we are facing.

If you are with me today on this, agree that God is going to help bring a light to the end of your tunnel. This light is going to shine brightly and show us our next step.

We are done walking in the dark, not knowing what to do. It’s time to seek God and let Him help shine that light and bring the answer.

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-23-21

2 Samuel 22:7 (NKJV) 7 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry entered His ears.

The Lord heard David’s voice.

Do we cry out to Him? Do we talk to Him? And do we ask for His help?

David did. Why? Because David knew that what he faced was bigger than him.

2 Samuel 22:18 (NKJV) 18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me; For they were too strong for me.

Admitting that what stands before us is bigger than us is crucial.

Could it be that we don’t cry out and get help because we think we’ve got this? We want to keep the reigns in our own hands? We keep pushing to take care of it on our own.

When the enemy is way too strong for us, do we let it keep on beating us down because we refuse to ask for help?

David cried out, and if we read on, we will see that he is reflecting on how God helped him through so much!!

What is our problem? Is it that we don’t cry out? Is it that we don’t want to ask for help because then we may have to accept the fact we actually need help?

Could it be pride that keeps us from getting the help we need and pride that keeps us in the struggle and the war we are in today?

David knew, time after time, that as he cried out to His Father, help would come. And David was strengthened by God’s hand each time. Not in a prideful way, but he was strengthened in his faith toward his Father, knowing He would be there somehow, in some way, to rescue him.

We need to let God help. But before He can, we have to realize that what we face is too big for us.

And then we have to open up and cry out for help, believing He will be our refuge and our fortress!!

Psalm 91:2 (NKJV) 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-1-20

Psalm 119:18 (NKJV) 18 Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.

Being blind is no way to walk this earth. We need to walk with our eyes wide open. We need to understand that obedience, or following God’s word, is the most crucial thing we can do and get good at!

It is the only way we will see wondrous things.

People may think they are living a good life, when in fact they have not even touched the surface yet because they have not let God open their eyes.

How does He open our eyes? When we realize that He really cares and loves us more than we could know, then our eyes are opened. That is the beginning of our eye-opening journey.

Why? Because then we will trust Him with everything more than we trust ourselves.

I know that some things that happen in our lives may cause us to question God. Maybe some reading this are in this state right now.

Maybe your child has changed in a big way and they are acting out. And we say, “why, God?”.

Maybe we have lost someone we loved deeply and we are saying, “why, God?”.

Maybe our finances dried up, despite having been tithers for years, and we are saying, “why, God?”.

This is normal, and it is OK to ask Him why. I believe He would have it that way. He does not have a problem with explaining why things are the way they are.

But, are we willing and ready to accept the answer without holding what took place against Him? Are we ready to get our eyes opened?

Some aren’t. Some would rather stay angry, mopey and discouraged. That’s our own choice.

But don’t pull anyone else down. Stay there if we feel we must, but let others move on, because some are ready to move on.

It’s been a long while and the time is now.

God does wondrous things when we allow Him to open our eyes and see things the right way.

He has a way of fixing us up even when we think we are a lost cause and can’t go on. God knows what it will take. Let Him open our eyes today.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-12-20

Psalm 119:28 (NKJV) 28 My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word.

How many times a week does our soul feel like it is melting from heaviness?

We are just overwhelmed with so many changes, so much to do and such a little amount of time to get it done.

Or maybe we are dealing with family issues and it is getting to be so tiring and overwhelming.

Maybe we are just bored with the same ole things day after day and we are melting from the repetition of it all. There is nothing keeping us happy; no joy to be found. Everything just seems out of whack.

God, help us to keep living!!

That’s exactly what it will take; God to help us and strengthen us according to His word.

Don’t try to understand it all. Most of it is not for us to understand. We need to keep on doing what we need to do to get through.

The heaviness of everyday stuff is real, children of God. We all feel it.

It doesn’t matter whether the smile on our face hides it well. It doesn’t get rid of it.

What takes the heaviness away? God’s strength.

He gives us the strength to push it back and to keep us going with the right attitude.

The big question is whether or not we will let God strengthen us enough, through His word, to get us past it, so we don’t give in to it and melt away for good.

John 14:19 (NKJV) 19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.

We live and we keep on living because God is alive in us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-31-20

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) 10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

This verse is incredibly encouraging and uplifting.

First, God tells us very plainly not to fear. Why? Because He is with us.

If we could have anyone with us as we face trials or things that are uncertain, there is nobody better than Him.

He never leaves us. He never forsakes us. He never turns us away. He never changes.

Then He tells us not to be dismayed. Dismayed isn’t a word that we use much these days.

What does it mean? Frightened, troubled, bothered, distressed, saddened, concerned, upset, shocked, disheartened.

That covers a whole slew of emotions that most of us might wrestle with during times of uncertainty or trouble.

So, why should we not be dismayed? Because He is our God! He said it Himself, right after telling us not to be dismayed.

Then, to wrap it all up, what does He tell us He will do?

He will strengthen us! And He will help us!

And, lastly, He will uphold (sustain, support, defend, stand by) us with His righteous right hand.

That righteous right hand is symbolic of His power, sovereignty and might.

And in Exodus 15:6, Moses sang that God’s right hand had dashed the enemy (Egypt) in pieces.

So, if you are facing a time of trial or uncertainty, we say, just as God Himself said, fear not! He will strengthen you and uphold you with His righteous right hand.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-12-20

Psalm 56:3 (NKJV) 3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.

Over the years there is something that I have noticed happening in the lives of many believers when we face a trial.

For some reason, many people tend to run away from God when they face something hard. They get scared, and they run.

This is a reaction of our flesh. The first thing our flesh wants to do when things get tough is to run away and put distance between the trial and ourselves. Oh, if only it was that easy to fix!

But see, when we run away, we are leaving behind the One who has the solution to our dilemma.

Instead of running away, we need to be running to Him!

God holds the answer to every problem we face during our lifetime. He has understanding that we don’t have. He has solutions that man can’t give us. And He understands us better than we understand ourselves.

So, it would benefit us if we would learn to go to Him, not away from Him because He can give us what we need to fix the problems we are facing. And the answers He gives us will be better than any that we can dream up ourselves or get from anyone else.

Let’s not make the mistake of thinking that it will always be easy, or that the answers He gives us will always give us instant fixes. Sometimes it will, but sometimes it won’t. And we need to be ready to accept that.

But there is one thing that can be guaranteed. And that is that when we go to Him, and we trust Him, the outcome will be much better than anything we could have schemed up ourselves.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-15-19

Psalm 35:1 (NKJV) 1 Plead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me; Fight against those who fight against me.

When we are being fought against aggressively it can wear us out. We can lose our joy. And when that happens, we can get hard on the inside and weak at trying to keep the right outlook on things.

This message today is for those who are in a battle, whether at work, in the home, at school, in their church, or in a spiritual battle of some kind.

It’s at times like this that we can lose sight and say the wrong thing or make the wrong moves. Because of our loss of strength, fatigue has set in and we just want it to be over.

But it’s at times like this that we need to pull back, hold our actions and our tongue from doing or saying the wrong thing, and let God go before us. He will fight for us and protect us in such a battle.

Find our rest in Him, even in a trying time such as this.

Psalm 9:10 (NKJV) 10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
