Bible Verse of The Day – 4-15-23

Psalm 147:3 (NKJV) 3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

I was recently reflecting about when my dad passed away.

I couldn’t explain how I felt at first. But looking back, I remembered my mom talking about the expression I had on my face, and how I yelled when he took his last breath, “my Papa’s gone!”.

At that moment, I felt something leave me and I didn’t quite understand it for a long time.

It was a year and a half later that I found myself on my knees asking God to help me learn to live without my father. You see, when a person has a big presence in our lives, it fills a part of us.

When someone we love leaves us, there is an empty spot. That spot remains empty until we fill it with something comparable.

For some it’s our work. For others it’s spending money, or dating. For others, it may be starting a project. Or we may try to fill it by overeating or drinking.

We will fill it with anything that will bring comfort there once again.

It’s not terrible to want to fill that empty void that was left by their absence.

However, I found with me that everything I was doing was not helping me. I couldn’t even enjoy some of the great blessings God was bringing me. My heart needed healing.

I cried out to God because no matter what I did, I couldn’t make that spot fill up. When I asked God to help me, He came and filled it with what was missing.

Only God knows what we need when we lose someone or something dear to us.

What this world offers will never fill that void. It can’t.

But if we surrender that empty spot to Him, He will come and pour the exact amount of what we are missing right into that spot!

God is faithful to take care of that spot! His joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 30:5 (NKJV) 5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-28-21

John 11:25 (NKJV) 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

What a wonderful blessing for believers.

After we pass from this life, we will be alive in His presence.

We don’t just die and then that is the end of everything for us. Our best life is actually yet to come.

We get so comfortable and acclimated to things here on earth  that we think this is it! We think this is the best place to be.

And when our loved ones pass on, we look at it as if that is the end of everything. Doom and gloom, sadness and sorrow try to take over our thoughts.

It may try to keep us down and make us feel like things will never be good again.

That’s a lie! Things can be good again, knowing that Jesus has given us eternal life.

God has a plan for us all. And part of that plan is death. We will all face it. It is just as much a part of life as living.

But we don’t like to think or talk about it much, do we? And that is understandable if we don’t know what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross.

Let us not get caught in the trap of doom and gloom, sadness, and sorrow because of our loss.

Search the scriptures. Get to know what Jesus did for us, and why He went to great lengths so that we may live again even after we die. Hallelujah!

Believe in Him today so we will have a home in heaven and live forever with our resurrected Savior and our heavenly Father.  Amen.

John 3:16 (NKJV) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-4-21

Psalm 147:3 (NKJV) 3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

Losing a loved one brings up many questions.

Where are they now that we can’t feel, touch or speak to them? Are they in heaven? Are they still in the ground? Do they have a new body? Are they missing me?

Our minds want answers. We try so hard to find those answers, hoping it will bring comfort, taking away the loneliness and the pain of their absence.

Losing someone dear to us can make us stronger or it can break us for life.

Because we loved so much, it almost literally breaks our heart when they pass on or go home.

We can listen to others and try to find comfort in books, counsel, and other sources.

But beware of the mediums who will act like they can reach the dead and connect with them.

It’s all a lie and demonic in every form. They can mess you up completely and severely damage your relationship with God.

Unless we let God heal that broken, lonely heart, we will never get up and get back on our feet again. We too will die on the inside. We will still be walking and breathing, but dead to everything around us.

Getting mad at anyone, even God, will not do a bit of good.

We need to be healed. Time will help with that, but what’s most important is that we run to Him with our pain.

We need to rest in His arms, laying down all that is in us that concerns us. As we do this, He will bring healing and find a way to get us up and walking again.

The devil would love for us to blame God. He would love for us to be angry at Him and the world.

But all that will do is hurt us more, causing us to fall away from the One who can truly help us and comfort us.

He will be our best friend in such a difficult time.

If we are suffering or struggling because of our loss, there are two things to do today.

1. Acknowledge our brokenness.

2. Ask God to bring healing and get us up and walking again.

Death is part of this life here on earth.

But in Heaven there is no more death, no sorrow and no pain.

There is no loss. There is no sin and there are no struggles.

But while we are still here, our healing comes by putting one foot in front of the other and walking out each day with the Lord’s guidance.

Death happens to us all at times. Let us cry out for God’s help to get us through it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-13-21

Philippians 3:20 (NKJV) 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ…

The average lifespan here on earth is 75 – 85 years. In light of that, we are really just passing through here. It is very short and quick.

For those who believe in Christ, born again Christians, we will not perish. Our eternal home is in heaven, where we will have everlasting life.

John 3:16 (NKJV) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Our time here is valuable. Wherever we step foot, we bring God’s light into dark places.

Know that our work here is not in vain. But it is to glorify our King!! God sees our obedience and our efforts to try to do good and follow Him.

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV) 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Some Christians lose their footing when they lose a family member or when tragedy hits close to home.

Things like this can sometimes cause us to forget Who we belong to and where we are all heading.

It can cause us to forget our purpose here, and that we need to continue to be steadfast and immovable in what we have been called to do.

This is just a reminder to those today who may have taken a hit close to home.

It’s not over. Pick up the pieces and let God help you move forward in whatever it is that we need to do here and now, one step at a time.

As Paul says, be steadfast and immovable, right to the end.

Our prayers are with you all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-14-20

Luke 4:18 (NKJV) 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

Today we’d like to speak to those who are hurting; those with a broken heart.

Maybe your heart is broken because of something that has happened in your life. Maybe it’s because you have lost someone, or are about to lose someone who is very close to you.

It’s important for us to understand that hurt comes with life. It’s part of the life that each of us lives, and probably one of the most difficult parts of it.

It can be heartbreaking to lose someone, both for the person who suffers the loss, and for the people around that person.

Losing someone can knock the wind out of us. It can make us feel like there is nothing stable under our feet, making it difficult to find solid footing.

There are no “magic words” that anyone can say that can take away the hurt and suddenly make everything better.

But in the midst of your pain, and in the midst of you trying to find a place to get your feet on solid ground again, even when you feel like you can’t go on, you can.

We can go on.

Why?

Because God is a healer of broken hearts. Nobody can heal a broken heart like He can.

Psalm 147:3 (NKJV) 3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

Most of us wrestle with questions after a loss. We ask why, how, why now, what could I have done differently, etc. These are questions that we may not get the answers to.

And some questions in life can never be answered. But that should never stop us from letting God heal our heart. And it should never stop us from letting God get us back on track and moving forward again with our lives.

You see, the world keeps turning. It’s just a fact of life.

The sun rises and the sun sets. New days come. Each morning that we wake up is a new day.

So, we need to be careful that we don’t stop our life while the rest of the world keeps moving. We need to be careful not to get left behind.

We need to do whatever it takes to get moving forward again, even though it can be an extremely hard thing.

Our hearts hurt for you in your loss and your difficulties with getting past the pain and moving forward again.

We recorded a video on this topic very recently, and we’d really like you to watch it, so we can speak to you further and help you get the healing that you need.

We want to see you move forward with your life again. We want to see you healed and made whole by God’s hand and His power to fix broken hearts.

So, we hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch the video and let God speak to your heart.

We love you, and we hope this devotional and the video help bring healing to your broken heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-15-20

John 11:35 (NKJV) 35 Jesus wept.

Many people are going through things and they are afraid to let go. They think they have to hold back the tears because if they don’t people might think they are not strong.

When we hold back the tears, we are denying ourselves healing. We are ignoring the fact that we are hurting and we need gentle, tender, loving care. By ignoring this and denying ourselves the healing we need, we are putting ourselves at risk of getting hard and bitter.

Hardness will make us think no one is there for us. No one cares. Not even God.

It will make us think things like maybe even God does not hear us.

Hardness has a voice and it’s not nice. It’s mean, angry and frustrated.

A hard, bitter heart cannot function properly. It gets off track quickly. It needs help.

Maybe today you are facing or dealing with a tragedy. You don’t know how to get past it, let it go and start over.

Don’t hold in what needs to come out. Shed some tears and talk to God. Your healing will find you.

Psalm 38:8 (NKJV) 8 I am feeble and severely broken; I groan because of the turmoil of my heart.

If Jesus wept, then it’s OK for us to weep.

It’s not a sign of weakness, no matter how many people say it is.

It is a sign of recognizing what just took place and realizing that we need to let God be God and help us be lifted up.

Cry on His shoulder.

Psalm 3:3 (NKJV) 3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-9-20

Genesis 48:20 (NKJV) 20 So he blessed them that day, saying, “By you Israel will bless, saying, ‘May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh!’ ” And thus he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

We want to talk today about the importance of these two names, Manasseh and Ephraim.

These are the names of the two sons of Joseph, also known as Zaphnath-Paaneah, and his wife, Asenath. Both names mean something very important.

The first-born son, Manasseh, means making forgetful.

Genesis 41:51 (NKJV) 51 Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: “For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father’s house.”

You see, it was very important for Joseph to let God help him forget what was done to him (Genesis 37:18-28).

Yes, we all know that what Joseph  went through in his father’s house was wrong. What was done to him was unfair and unjust. But it happened; his brothers sold him into slavery. You can’t take that back. You can’t undo it.

This is a hurtful thing for anyone to have to experience. But it didn’t end there for Joseph (Genesis 39:7-20)

Another unfair thing happened to him when Potiphar’s wife wanted Joseph to be with her. Joseph refused. He would not do such a thing.

In her anger at his refusal, she made it look like he was the one making unwanted advances toward her.

Joseph ended up being thrown into prison because of her lies. And he was there for many years, serving time for a crime he did not commit.

God helped Joseph forget his toil, his suffering, his pain and anguish regarding all he went through.

Now, Ephraim meant fruitfulness.

Genesis 41:52 (NKJV) 52 And the name of the second he called Ephraim: “For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”

God’s fruitfulness was on Joseph’s life no matter where he was on that path of afflictions. As a slave or in prison, Joseph saw God’s hand on his life.

Let us say today that without Manasseh, being able to forget or let go, letting God take away the pain and sorrow of the losses in our lives, there will not be an Ephraim, fruitfulness.

They come together as a pair.

In order for Ephraim (the fruitfulness of God) to work, we have to have the Manasseh (the forgetting and the letting go of our hurtful past) birthed in our hearts.

If we are truly ready for His fruitfulness in our lives today, we need to give up the sorrow, the bad memories and the pain.

Let God take it. Walk in His peace and let our future be fruitful and blessed forevermore.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-7-20

John 14:1-3 (NKJV) 1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

This is the most comforting and soothing promise to those who believe. Jesus wants us with Him. He has gone ahead of us and prepared a place for us.

Really? How loving is He to think of us? After everything else He has already done on the cross, how wonderful is He!

How can anyone not understand such a deep love for His Father, and for us, that He could care so compassionately about us the way He does. Bless You, Lord!

Psalm 103:1 (NKJV) 1 Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

Today, if you are hurting from the sting of a lost one, He wants to bring peace to you. He wants you to know that He cares for your loved one, more than we could ever know. And He has them in a place that He has prepared.

They are not alone.

Luke 23:43 (NKJV) 43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

He has surrounded them with what they need, taking good care of them, loving on them.

And He is with us here as well, watching over us, caring for us as much as we allow Him to.

Those that we love and have lost are with Him.

2 Corinthians 5:8 (NKJV) 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

And we will be there too, some day. We will all be together with Him! Amen.

No more tears, no more sorrow, no more troubling ourselves over it. Rather, get up and rejoice. The Lord has made preparations for us all and they are perfect! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-26-19

Luke 2:34-35 (NKJV) 34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against 35 (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

Mary, the mother of Jesus, experienced piercing anguish at the cross, when her Son was crucified for us.

Piercing anguish means to have severe mental or physical pain or suffering. To be extremely distressed about something.

There is such a thing as anguish, and many people suffer from it. Maybe we’ve had a loss, or something very bad has happened to us that has hit us deeply.

It has pierced our soul, and we cannot seem to get past it. The memory runs over and over in our head, and it is all we see no matter how hard we try to stop it.

No matter how hard we try to erase it or forget it, it just won’t go away. The pain is unbearable and there is nothing in life that will help it subside.

You are not alone. Your anguish is real, and it is painful.

Mary went through this same pain. She suffered physically as she watched her child be nailed to the cross and die for our sins. He was innocent, but yet treated like a criminal.

Jesus might have died on that cross, and Mary may have felt it, suffering greatly to the piercing of her soul, but a wonderful thing was birthed from it all.

Victory came!

There was a purpose for it all. Redemption for each one of us.

Jesus defeated death. He rose again, and He has made a way for us to dance, even during our time of mourning!

He made a way to let go of our pain and receive healing, deliverance, and eternal life. It is all ours through His death.

No more anguish; throw off the sackcloth and ask Jesus to take your pain and give you gladness.

Psalm 30:11 (NKJV) 11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness…

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-19

Ecclesiastes 3:4 (NKJV) 4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance…

Are we grieving over someone or a situation today?

We should not take our feelings lightly. Pay attention to them. Don’t push them down and hold them in. Take the time we need to fully recover.

Loss is a natural part of life, and grief is a natural part of loss. It’s important that we don’t cut ourselves short and suppress it. We need to go through it, to weep and to mourn at times.

Our health and the state of mind that we are in are important to God. What we are going through will either make us or break us, depending on whether we take the time we need to go through it properly. How we feel and how we function each day depends on the time we take to tend to our own needs.

A lot of times people won’t get their full healing because they put everyone and everything else before themselves. They put themselves last and just keep plowing through every day, hurting from the grief they carry.

You are important and you need your time to heal.

We can’t ignore it and work long hours to get through it, pretending it’s not there. We have to face it. And when we do, God will show us what it will take to come out of it feeling better, stronger and healthier.

Grieving over anything should only last for a season not our whole life. Being happy must come again.

Take the time we need to heal, to get some clarity, to get past the things that cause us to weep and then let dancing come again! Amen.
