Bible Verse of The Day – 5-13-21

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV) 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

We don’t want you to fret today, or waste time thinking of all the “what ifs”.

We don’t want you to look back and say, “I wish we could go back”, or wish things were the same as they used to be.

Who’s talking this talk? Are these the thoughts of our hearts today?

We can’t get caught in this trap of the enemy.

As believers, we must rise above our situation. We must take the hand of God and let Him lead us into victory.

So many hours have been wasted on these types of thoughts. And they are not doing us a bit of good. They will not move us forward.

These are thoughts that keep us standing still, in the same place, when we should be filling our lamps with oil.

We cannot stay here in this place any longer. We must set our face like a flint and march forward to the beat of God’s drum.

He is moving His children into a place that is safe, secure and strong? Let us move forward together.

We may not understand everything that is going on right now, but by golly we know the ONE who does. And He has our back. So, let’s follow His lead and let Him guide our steps

Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV) 6 So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.

Get up. Put one foot in front of the other, and march. We are going to win this battle by God’s Spirit alone.

Dear Father God in Heaven,

We all come together and ask You Lord, just as Hezekiah cried out for help (2 Kings 19:16). We too cry out, incline Your ear, and hear. Open your eyes, O Lord and see. This attack is truly against You. We need Your help and healing today. In Jesus’ name, You make everything beautiful in its time. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-22-21

2 Samuel 12:20 (NKJV) 20 So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. Then he went to his own house; and when he requested, they set food before him, and he ate.

David had betrayed one of his own men, Uriah, a mighty warrior in Israel’s army.

While Uriah was away at battle, David slept with Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba, and she became pregnant with his child.

Ultimately, David had Uriah positioned in battle so that he would be killed by enemy soldiers.

David then brought Bathsheba to the royal palace, making her his wife.

The prophet Nathan confronted David with his sin, and David was told that, because of what he had done, the child that had been conceived would surely die.

The child was born, and God struck the child so he became ill.

When David saw this, he prayed, fasted and pleaded with God to let the child live.

He laid on the ground, forsaking food for 7 days. Then, the child died.

David’s servants were afraid to tell him of the child’s death. But he perceived that they were distressed, and asked them if the child had died. They confirmed that he had died.

At hearing this, David arose, washed, changed his clothes and then went and worshiped God.

After doing this, he went to his table and requested food.

His servants were baffled by his behavior. They couldn’t understand why he would simply get up, wash and move on with his life after losing a child. They couldn’t comprehend his seeming lack of sadness and mourning.

The thing is, though, that David did mourn. He was sad.

But he chose to get up and move on because he knew that there was nothing he could do to change the outcome of the situation. Nothing that he did would bring his son back. Nothing that he did would undo the consequences of his sin.

This is something that we can all learn from.

Way too often we spend our time looking back, wishing we could change an outcome or undo a choice that we made that caused a less-than-desirable consequence.

None of that does us, or anyone around us, a single bit of good. It is a waste of our time and energy and, in reality, it dishonors God and His sovereignty.

It can also be an insult to those around us, as we push them away in favor of “chasing the past”, trying desperately to hold onto what is gone, instead of holding on to, and appreciating, what (and who) we have right in front of us.

Trust God. Look ahead. Be grateful for His provision and His blessings.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-12-19

Jeremiah 23:24 (NKJV) 24 Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the Lord; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord.

There is nothing we can hide from God. He sees everything and knows everything.

Often times we will read something like this and look at it from the perspective that He sees all of our faults, our sins, our shortcomings. And while this is 100% true, we also need to look at it another way that can seriously impact our lives and the way we see God.

God sees all, including our deepest fears, insecurities and doubts about ourselves.

It’s OK, though. Because He wants to help us with them!

God doesn’t want us limping through our lives, spending our time and energy hiding the things we wrestle with. It doesn’t matter if it’s a past sin that keeps taunting us, a temptation we struggle with or if it’s a fear of being alone. It doesn’t matter what it is.

He holds the key to set us free from those things.

Today is the time to finally lay these things down at His feet, ask for His forgiveness, His help and His mercy. And then leave it right there… at His feet, never to be picked back up again.

Go ahead. We encourage you to do it.

It’s not always easy, but it’s necessary if we truly want to be free.

And here’s the coolest part. When we do that, when we lay these things at His feet, He will not only give us His peace, He will take those things and help us to defeat them, leaving them behind us for good.

Go ahead. Today is your day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-27-18

James 3:2 (NKJV) 2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

As a young child, I remember following my older siblings one day to an apple tree that belonged to our neighbor.

They helped me up into the tree and had me pick the apples and toss them down to them. It was fun and I was enjoying it!

Then I heard them yell, “quick, they’re home. Run!”.  But, they forgot one thing; ME! They left me in the tree.

The owner came to the tree and there I was, sitting in the tree, not knowing what was wrong. I just thought we were picking apples for Mom’s apple pie and that everything was happy and good.

They got me down from the tree and took me to my parents. Standing in front of my parents, I had to explain what I was doing in their tree.

I was sad after I learned what I was actually doing.

These are the consequences of following without understanding the how and why of it all. I was only little, but no matter the age, no matter the innocence, if we get caught up in the wrong place doing the wrong thing, there will be repercussions. Sometimes it can leave a scar.

There have been other times throughout my life when I blindly and innocently followed or got involved in things that I wished I hadn’t.

But, to hold onto those things as if they had just recently happened would be hurting and punishing me even more.

How do we change the past? How do we erase those things that came upon us innocently or unknowingly?

We cannot change the past. We can’t even change the future if we continue to wallow in the things that happened to us in the past.

We can only change today by taking that first step and letting the past be the past, and the future be the future.

We can’t be so hard on ourselves. Today is a new day. God wants to heal us.

Let go of what happened in the past and move on. Learn from it and try not to fall back into the same thing again. Take it one day at a time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-23-18

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV) 18 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.

Sometimes, as we move through life, there are certain events or even certain seasons that tend to stick out in our minds.

Sometimes they stick with us because they were very good, and we liked it that way. Other times it can be due to something bad that happened during that time, and we are left with sad or hurtful memories.

Either way, God never wants us to spend all our time looking back. It’s not wrong to reminisce or reflect on things of old. But we should never dwell there.

God is a forward mover. He doesn’t want us to constantly be looking back, longing for the past, fretting over things that happened in the past, or thinking about how much better things might have been back then.

If we get caught up in the times and events of our past, it seriously hinders our ability to look forward. God wants to move in our lives in a way that will help us overcome those things that might have happened in the past, and to put our energy into the things that He has for us in the future.

Don’t hold onto the past. Don’t fret over missed opportunities. And don’t let the wounds of the past destroy what God wants to do with our future.
