Bible Verse of The Day – 5-27-24

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The word of God is not something we should take lightly. His word is our source of knowledge, truth, and understanding.

His word illuminates our path. It shines a light as we walk.

His word shows us who He wants us to be.

His word gives proof of who He is and how He created everything we see.

His word feeds our spirit.

And His word shows us that He loves us.

And yet, despite this and more, so few believers read His word.

Many people simply leave it up to their pastors or other church leaders to tell them what they need to hear.

They fail to make the effort to verify that what they are being told is legitimate and accurate.

This is a dangerous place to be; trusting someone else to secure our eternal destiny.

It is, in fact, a place that will, more-often-than-not, lead many to spiritual death; eternal separation from God.

Life without God’s word is not life at all. It is a dry, mundane existence that will leave us empty and hollow shells of the men and women He desires us to be.

It is life lived by intellect, emotion, and instinct instead of by the Spirit of God.

Spending time in His word is not optional. It is mandatory if we desire to truly walk with Him.

Be careful not to misunderstand this. God will not force anyone to read His word any more than He will force us to trust Him.

But if we call ourselves His child, would we not want to know our Father completely, that our relationship with Him would be more than a passing mention of Him from time to time?

Would we not want to know everything we can know about the One we call Father?

If this brings feelings of conviction, or if you find yourself struggling in your walk with God, we urge you to pick up your Bible and spend time reading it.

Put forth the effort needed to not only read it, but feast on it. Devour it as though your life depends on it. Because, in reality, it does.

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-5-24

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

It seems like every day I hear another Biblical mistruth.

Some are common. Others are rather obscure.

The scripture above is one that has been frequently misunderstood and improperly translated into a phrase that we all hear often.

It goes like this; God will never give you more than you can handle!

This phrase is repeated often, even by people with a lot of influence.

Many of the well-known people who repeat this misleading phrase are not Christians.

But having it get passed around even by influential nonbelievers can cause a fair share of misunderstanding and confusion for believers who are young in their faith or not well studied in God’s word.

So, let us look more closely at this so as not to fall into the trap that has been so smoothly laid by the enemy.

If we look closely, we will immediately see that this verse has nothing at all to do with the trials we face or burdens we bear. It clearly states “temptation” in the first few words.

In the original Greek, temptation and tempted can also be replaced with test or tested, as in the testing of our will when it comes to resisting sin.

Knowing this, we could also read it as this; No test has overtaken you…

Next, we need to consider the word, overtaken. Overtaken simply means confronted or challenged.

The words, common to man, imply that no temptation we face is unique. We are just like everyone else, facing the same kinds of tests of our will.

So, no temptation or test that we are confronted with is unique to us. We are not special, nor do we face any temptation that is more difficult than what anyone else faces.

Take note that the next thing we read is that God is faithful. Of course He is!

And then what?

He will not allow us to “be tempted (have our will tested) beyond what we are able (to bear or overcome).

And look at that last part; with the temptation (test) (He) will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear (overcome) it.

Now, when we hear someone saying that God will never give us more than we can handle, we will know the truth about what this verse really means, right down to the tiniest detail!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-8-24

2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV) 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

The importance of staying in God’s word can’t be stressed nearly enough.

His word is the lifeblood that keeps us nourished and growing.

It is living, breathing and powerful.

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

And here’s a little something to meditate on; if a situation comes along that causes us to spend less time in His word than normal, we may begin to “lose our edge”. And it will likely happen more quickly than we might think.

If our time in His word decreases, we will begin to hunger after His word.

We will begin to long for our time in it. And we may even become frustrated with whatever it is that is robbing us of that time.

You see, His word helps us discern more quickly, more powerfully and more accurately.

His word fills our reservoir, so to speak. Without it we are empty and dry.

And His word is a weapon to be used against the onslaught of the enemy when he attacks us and tries to take us down.

1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV) 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

So, let us do whatever is necessary to take back our time in His word, being sure to fight against anything that tries to steal that time from us.

The fight may not be easy, but we will never regret doing it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-2-23

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

During our lifetimes as a follower of Christ, we will see and hear many people claiming to have a word for us from God.

We will hear teachings on many different topics, all supposedly based on God’s word.

We will have people tell us that God wants to bless us, or that He wants to anoint us for a specific task.

We will see groups of people, some of them exceptionally large, following teachers who tell them how good their lives can be.

Our walk with God will be a lengthy obstacle course full of things that we will need to discern and determine whether they are of God or not.

How do we do this?

How do we accurately discern these things and know who or what to believe as truth?

Simple.

Go back to the word of God.

The word of God is our measuring stick. It is the standard by which everything we see and hear is validated or proven to be false.

Sometimes the things we hear are plainly false. We know it the second we hear it.

Other things might not be quite so cut and dry.

Many falsehoods are skillfully wrapped in tidbits of truth but are really lies in a pretty package.

This is why it is critical for us to always go back to the word of God.

As we spend time studying, learning, researching, growing, and maturing, we will gain a more solid understanding of His word that will help us break through the confusion and peel back the layers of false teachings.

And this will make the truth glaringly obvious to us, allowing us to toss away the heresy that masquerades as the genuine article.

Always go back to the word of God!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-22-22

Psalm 103:17-18 (NKJV) 17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, 18 To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them.

Many people like to quote the first several words of verse 17, above; “the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting”.

Sadly, they also often leave out the next few words, which are the qualifiers of that first sentence. This completely changes the meaning of what was written.

God’s word needs to be read in context if we are to get the truth, not just warm fuzzy feelings from words that make us feel good.

With that said, let’s look at this more closely.

The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting.

So, on whom is His mercy from everlasting to everlasting (unending)?

On those who fear Him.

That’s pretty straight forward. But you see, some people don’t like to include it because it literally decreases the number of people upon whom His mercy is unending, making it less of a warm and fuzzy, feel-good verse.

Jesus said that the truth will set us free.

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

But half-truths will only create a false sense of security, resulting in people remaining slaves to their sin.

Verse 18 further qualifies those first several words, listing other requirements for His mercy to be forever upon us; keep His covenant, and remember (practice or walk out) His commandments.

Let’s be careful to study and utilize God’s word in its proper context, being cautious not to “cherry pick’ phrases that sound good, but don’t represent the entirety of what was intended to be said.

The fruits of proper use of God’s word will surely outweigh and outlast the fruits of improper use.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-20-21

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

As believers, the word of God is our source of truth.

It is true and trustworthy.

Because of this, we need to be careful that we never allow the ways of the world to sway our thoughts on the things that the Bible states as absolutes.

This typically isn’t an issue for most believers. We see what God’s word says, and we know that it means what it says. We don’t question it or contradict it because of the opinions of the world.

If we’re not careful, though, we will begin to allow certain types of information to change our views on what some call “social issues”.

As a case in point, if we were to look at what the Bible says about specific sins (1 Corinthians 6:9-10), we would readily admit and agree that it says they are wrong; thievery, drunkenness, idolatry, fornication, adultery, covetousness and extortion.

Sadly, because of the influence of the world, and because of rhetoric that we have been bombarded with, many believers will draw a line when it comes to other certain sins that the Bible says are just as wrong as those listed above.

The most notable of these is homosexuality.

Because we have been inundated with so much information the last 20 years about homosexuality, and because the world now openly promotes it in the mass media, many in the body of Christ are now hurling insults at any believer who still takes God’s word at face value and believes that this is still a sin.

The terrible irony lies in the fact that we could name the 8 sins immediately above, and nobody would argue. Everyone would nod in agreement that these are sins. Why? Because God’s word says they are.

But when it comes to homosexuality and sodomy, the same people will dig their heels in and proclaim loudly that, 1. they aren’t sure if it’s a sin or, 2. we are judging people if we say it’s a sin.

Do you see the contradictory nature of this?

Why has this happened? Why will people so easily agree that 8 of those 10 behaviors are sinful, but then balk at the other two, even though they are all listed together as a group?

Because it has been “normalized” by the world, and because our minds have been affected by the onslaught of information that we have been hit with for the last two decades.

People of God, it’s time that we see the ways of the world for what they are. We need to recognize the rhetoric when we hear it and see it, and tell the purveyors of such information, “no, thank you”.

And we need to ask God to transform us by the renewing of our minds, that we will still take Him at His word.

This is not an expose` on the evils of homosexuality. It is simply an effort to unveil one of the ways that the enemy subtly sneaks into the minds of the saints of God, and whispers quietly into our ear, “did God really say that?”, just as he did with Eve in the garden so many centuries ago.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-22-21

Psalm 119:130 (NKJV) 130 The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

God’s word is the single most important thing that we can partake of as a child of God.

His word feeds us, gives us wisdom, offers counsel, gives us understanding and does so much more for us as we take it in and apply it to our lives.

This simple scripture above sums it up perfectly, telling us that the entrance of His word gives light.

What this means is that it brings light to our minds and our spirits, allowing even the simple to understand things that would otherwise be incomprehensible to us.

This is why it’s so important for each and every one of us to spend time in His word. Whether we are a new believer or we have been a believer for many decades, we all need a daily infusion of His word.

It brings light into the darkness, truth that prevails over lies, freedom where there is bondage.

Here’s the key to all of this; we need to read it.

We need to determine within ourselves to set time aside each and every day to read it, take it in and let it speak to us by His Spirit.

This one thing will move us closer and closer to God, as we apply what we read to our hearts and to our daily lives as we walk them out here on earth.

We will never, ever be sorry for time spent in His word.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-22-20 – The Big Picture

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings!

We pray that you are walking more closely with God today than you were last week or last month!

We have another new video out today, “The Big Picture”.

In today’s video, we discuss and teach about making sure we’re always looking at the big picture when it comes to learning from God’s word.

Too many mistakes can be made if we only use “scripture snippets” or small pieces of verses taken out of context.

The video is short and to the point and it was fun to record.

We hope you‘ll take a few minutes to watch it.

Enjoy your day!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-19-20

Deuteronomy 4:6 (NKJV) 6 Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’

We need wisdom to follow God.

We need wisdom to stay close to Him. We need His wisdom to make wise choices to do what we should do and not do what we shouldn’t do..

So, what is Moses talking about here? What is this “wisdom” he refers to? How do we get it, and where does it come from?

Moses is telling the Israelites that their wisdom comes from observing and following the Holy scriptures, which at that time were largely comprised of God’s statutes.

To observe (follow) the scriptures will bring wisdom and understanding, not just to us, but to all those around us.

Knowing what God says about certain situations is crucial.

2 Timothy 3:15 (NKJV) 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Scripture reading will help us to know God better.

It will build our faith in Christ and help us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12)

It’s not an easy world we live in today. The atmosphere is tense and very heavy. But as we spend time in His word, we will know how to pray and what to pray for.

Our ears and eyes will be alert to what is going on in the Spirit world, and we have the tools (wisdom and understanding) if we stay in the Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-21-20

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’

Putting God’s Word to work in our lives will keep our discernment sharp.

We will be in tune with His Spirit. He will keep us strong in areas where we are weak.

But we have to stay in His word. Even if it is just a little bit each day, it helps.

Isaiah 40:29 (NKJV) 29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

Now, how much time do we give Him in His word? Only we can be honest with ourselves and answer this question.

If we haven’t been giving Him time, then that is probably why we are struggling with restlessness, fear, worrying, and are always in a very frustrated state of mind.

Start today. Give Him some of our time.

Things will come together. He will bring encouragement and stand with us in all that life throws at us.

Deuteronomy 20:4 (NKJV) 4 for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’
