Bible Verse of The Day – 7-26-21

Psalm 128:1 (NKJV) 1 Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways.

God’s blessings are probably the most sought after thing in history.

There is nothing better than to be blessed by God, the Creator of heaven and earth. Who could ask for more than that, right?

Well, now that we’ve established that fact, let’s talk about what it takes to actually make it happen.

First, we need to emphasize that making God’s blessings happen should never be a primary goal. If we seek the blessings before the Blesser, our priorities are a bit mixed up.

With that said, how do we accomplish being blessed by God? Is there a “secret formula”?

Well, the answer to that would be no… and yes. Let me explain.

There is no set-in-stone recipe, so to speak, that guarantees it to happen. For example, we know that if we have two eggs and we get two more, we will have 4. That’s an absolute.

But with God, following a set of steps doesn’t always give us absolutes like the 4 eggs.

You see, with God, it’s all about the condition of our heart. God knows our heart better than we know it, and how He blesses us (or not) is very dependent upon our heart.

Look at what He said of David.

Acts 13:22 (NKJV) 22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’

And David was a man that God blessed mightily, because of his loyalty and diligence, and the steadfastness that he displayed toward his relationship with God.

So, it’s imperative that we not worry about the blessings. Don’t pursue them.

Pursue God wholeheartedly. The blessings will take care of themselves if/when we’re ready for them.

God knows. He is above our ways and above our thoughts.

Trust Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-13-20

Genesis 39:21 (NKJV) 21 But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

You may have noticed recently that we have been using a lot of scriptures related to Abraham, Moses, Jacob and Joseph in our devotionals. We have been spending a lot of time studying in the Old Testament.

Today, let’s talk a bit more about Joseph.

While reading through the final chapters of Genesis, particularly the sections related to Joseph’s life, something became very clear to me; Despite his hardships, Joseph’s life was truly blessed.

It didn’t matter where Joseph was or what he was going through, God caused him to excel and prosper in everything he did.

Why?

Because he honored God and made the right choices at critical times.

He chose not to dwell on anger or retribution, choosing instead to forgive and look forward, not backwards.

He forgave his brothers when they sold him into slavery. He didn’t hold bitterness against the wife of Potiphar when she falsely accused him of inappropriate behavior toward her. And he overlooked Pharaoh’s butler’s failure to keep his word and help him get out of prison.

Most importantly, though, Joseph did his best to always make righteous decisions. He honored God and revered Him highly enough to do the right thing when it counted most.

Joseph’s life is an example for us to learn from. God blessed the work of his hands because he honored God in all he did.

As we honor God with our own lives, He will bless us also.

This doesn’t mean that He will bless us the exact same way that He blessed Joseph. He will bless us in the way that He sees fit.

It’s up to us to accept this and thank Him for it, even if the way He blesses us isn’t necessarily what we expected.

God’s favor is still God’s favor, no matter how He chooses to do it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-24-18

Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV) 25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

We may wonder why we are blessed at times. We see good things happening all around us and we are in awe, thinking, “Wow, how very blessed are we! Boy, is God good! Amen”.

This is a good thing. These blessings that we are receiving are, many times, because we have been generous. It’s so important for us to know that when we sow, we will reap.

Galatians 6:7 (NKJV) 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

When we give, when we sow and when we are generous, according to these scriptures, God’s very word, we will reap!

Maybe there is something that God is asking us to do today out of our generosity. Maybe He has been tapping us on our shoulder or prompting us in our spirit man to do something very specific, and we are just ignoring it by keeping ourselves busy and on the go.

I know when God wants me to do something, He keeps reminding me. It doesn’t matter how busy I am. As soon as I get some down time, as soon as things are quiet, there He is;  tappety tap, tap, tap on my shoulder, “Hi, it’s Me, Jehovah, your Daddy”.

He does not do this for His own good. He is watching out for His children and calling us up higher. Because, as we walk in such generosity and sowing of seeds, He promises we will reap from it.

Our Father wants us to reap the good things He has for us! All we need to do is make sure we’re doing what He asks of us. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-20-18

Deuteronomy 28:2 (NKJV) 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God…

God wants to bless us. He wants to pour out many different blessings on our lives.

We all want to be blessed. There is not a single person who can honestly say that they do not want to be blessed by God.

The question, though, is this; are we willing to do what God requires us to do so that He can bless us?

Some may think of this as legalistic, or counting on our works as a means of gaining blessings. In reality, though, it is simply following the truth of God’s word.

We are taught throughout His word that we reap what we sow. And so it is with God. We sow, we reap. We obey. We are blessed.

Is that legalistic? Not at all. It’s basic Biblical principals at work. God tells us what to do, why we should do it, and what will happen when we do it.

Then, we do it. And God keeps His promise. Plain and simple.

God speaks only truth. It’s up to us to do what He says. And when we do it, we see results. It’s not us manipulating God or twisting His word.

It’s simply the body of Christ doing what God says we should do. Nothing more, nothing less.

So, do we want to be blessed? Do we want to walk in the abundance of God in every aspect of our lives? Do we want to see God move in every way that He wants to move?

It’s up to us. We choose. We decide how much, or how little, God can move on our behalf and bless us.

We do not follow God simply to receive blessings. But as we do follow God, and we obey the voice of the Lord, He will be faithful to bless us, as He has promised in His word.
