Bible Verse of The Day – 1-25-21

Proverbs 9:7-9 (NKJV) 7 “He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself, And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself. 8 Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. 9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

Talking with certain people can sometimes be very difficult, especially with regard to sharing insights with them that may help give them understanding about certain topics.

It can be downright exasperating, to be honest with you.

This can hold true for sharing Biblical truth with people. Some people just won’t listen to anything we might try to share with them. They are scoffers (mockers).

The verses above tell us that doing this will cause us to get hurt. Sometimes that hurt might be verbal or emotional. Other times, in extreme cases, it might mean physical harm.

Look at what it tells us, though, about correcting or rebuking a wise man; he will love us.

You see, some people just plain won’t hear anything we tell them because their minds and their hearts are closed, clamped shut, with no desire whatsoever to learn, grow or know the truth.

Does that mean that we should never share the truth with people? Absolutely not!

But, when we do share, we need to use the wisdom and discernment of the Holy Spirit to know when to share and when to pull back.

He will guide us if we let Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-18-21

Proverbs 1:20-22 (NKJV) 20 Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares. 21 She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words: 22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge.

God wants us to be wise. His word teaches us this over and over again, from Genesis to Revelation.

So many people believe wisdom is hard to find or obtain. This may seem to be true if we believe that wisdom can only be obtained by our own experiences over the course of many, many years.

The truth, however, is that God gives us many ways of becoming wise.

Learning from our own experiences is only one way. And to be honest, this is probably the hardest way to gain wisdom because it means we have to go through a lot of tough things before we start to have the insights and understanding that come with being wise.

So, what’s the best way to become wise?

Well, there is more than just a single way.

We can glean a lot of wisdom from watching and listening to others who offer to share their insights with us.

We can learn by observing others who have understanding that we may lack.

We can pray and seek wisdom from the Holy Spirit, Who will lead us in all things.

And we can spend time gleaning wisdom from the word of God.

His word is packed with wisdom from centuries of people who walked His path and who penned what the Holy Spirit inspired them to write.

God’s wisdom is the best and most pure because it is not contaminated by man.

Therefore, get wisdom.

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-11-20

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Having Godly wisdom is a necessity, but whether we have it or not is a choice we must make.

Now, James is being nice when he says, “If any of us lacks wisdom”. That’s a very kind way of putting it out there.

But let me just admit something here. I know I need God’s wisdom so much in my life. It hurts if I don’t have it. I will almost literally insert my foot in my mouth without Him.

Never mind asking. I will beg Him for His wisdom at times because I know me. And I need it on a constant basis!

What stands out to me in this scripture is, number one, we all will lack wisdom at times. Thus, it’s up to us to get Godly wisdom.

It’s crucial to remember this, because not only will we need it, but here is where number two comes in. We have to ask for it. Once we ask, He gives wisdom to us. Thank you, Lord!

Wisdom is a good thing to have.

Wisdom will keep us from digging ourselves a deeper hole at times. Wisdom will keep us from taking a wrong position or stance.

Wisdom will save us from entering into a bad relationship. Wisdom will keep us financially stable, etc.

Good, Godly Wisdom is so helpful when we are in a situation and we are backed into a corner. God knows how to get us out of it.

He is our God, our Jehovah, our El Shaddai, our Elohim, and the Creator of all things. And He is willing to grant us wisdom.

We just have to ask. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-3-20

2 Chronicles 1:10 (NKJV) 10 Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?”

King Solomon had big shoes to fill when his father, King David, passed away.

David loved God, and the people of Israel loved their king. How could Solomon step in and do justice to the throne that he had inherited?

Solomon, in his quest to do what was right, offered a thousand burnt offerings to God. And then he waited. And God appeared to him.

God asked Solomon what he wanted.

2 Chronicles 1:7 (NKJV) 7 On that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask! What shall I give you?”

Solomon replied with the words above, in verse 10; “give me wisdom and knowledge”.

Solomon could have asked for anything. He could have asked for fame, wealth, a long life and an abundance of other things that come to mind. But he didn’t.

His desire was to rule Israel with the right heart, and judge the great nation of Israel as God would want him to.

This is something that each and every one of us should consider.

How much of our time do we spend seeking things for ourselves, or asking God for things that are self-centered?

How many times do we pray as Solomon prayed, asking God to give us wisdom and knowledge, so we can bring honor and glory to God as we walk the earth?

We may not be kings over nations. But we are representatives of Christ here on earth, bringing His light everywhere we go.

Let’s ask God to give us a heart that longs to put Him first in everything that we do, no matter what our position in life might be.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-24-18

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

Don’t be fearful about the decision you need to make. Don’t be hard on yourself today. God will give us the understanding and wisdom we need to make the right decision.

We can be our own worst critics at times. Knowing this, we have to save ourselves from our own judgment, critical comments and the thoughts we have against ourselves.

We don’t need an enemy because sometimes we can be our own worst one.

It’s time to stop beating ourselves up and let God show us how to balance it out. We need to know who we are in Christ.

Yes, we can make mistakes. And there is no doubt that we do. But God knows what to do to help us fix them and to help us learn from them.

We are not bad people just because we make some poor choices occasionally. It’s all part of learning what to do and not to do.

Are we going to stay down and out today? Or are we going to get up and try to get it right with God’s understanding, strength and wisdom?

We stand in prayer with you all today, and we know you can do this. Amen.

Exodus 31:3 (NKJV) 3 And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship…

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-9-18

Ecclesiastes 10:10 (NKJV) 10 If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success.

Are we looking to be successful? Do we want to get ahead in this life? Do we want to know how to handle ourselves in every situation that comes our way?

God’s wisdom will help us develop our character, and help to carry us through both, good times and hard times.

How do we obtain such character? How do we obtain such integrity and walk in this kind of wisdom? We learn God’s heart. And we do this through reading His word. We do this through walking out that word. We do this through praying for answers and waiting patiently until we receive them from Him.

We need to be sharp in this day and age. We need to be full of wisdom to take the right steps and succeed in all areas of our lives.

Dig into God’s word and succeed, overcoming the challenges we face. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-10-17

Proverbs 2:10-11 (NKJV) 10 When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, 11 Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you…

Today we’re going to continue to look at wisdom and its benefits.

As we mentioned yesterday, God wants all of us to have wisdom. And, in fact, He has told us in His word to ask for it, and He will give it.

Why is wisdom so important? What benefits does wisdom give us? Here’s what His word says.

A – As we gain wisdom, we also gain discretion. And His word says that discretion will preserve us. It will protect us and keep us from making foolish choices and decisions.

B – Verse 11, above, also tells us that having wisdom gives us understanding. And understanding will keep (protect & shield) us.

What will it protect and shield us from? Check out verses 12 – 17 for a list of some of the things we will be protected from if we have wisdom and use it in our day to day lives.

Proverbs 2:12 To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things…

Wisdom will deliver us (set us free from) the way of evil.

Proverbs 2:13 From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness;

It will also protect us from those who walk in darkness, and from those who speak perverse (unreasonable, unacceptable) things, those who rejoice in doing evil, those whose ways are crooked (unethical, immoral) and those who are devious (using underhanded tactics) in their paths.

Proverbs 2:14-15 Who rejoice in doing evil, And delight in the perversity of the wicked; 15 Whose ways are crooked, And who are devious in their paths;

Wisdom will deliver us from the immoral woman (or man), the seductress (or seducer), those who are given to perverse sexual practices (adultery, fornication, etc.) and forsake the one they are avowed to, even forgetting their covenant with God.

Proverbs 2:16 – 17To deliver you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words, 17 Who forsakes the companion of her youth, And forgets the covenant of her God.

As we can see, the benefits of wisdom are many! And the list of things and people it protects us from is far-reaching.

And, do you know what else? This is just a very tiny list of reasons why we should ask God for wisdom.

So seek God, ask Him for wisdom. And as He gives it liberally, we can enjoy its benefits, keeping our feet on the path that God has set them on.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-5-17

1 Kings 3:5 (NKJV) 5 At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?”

If God appeared to us today and said, “Ask! What shall I give you?”, what would be our answer? What would we want?

Some of us may have a list of things we need more than anything right now. But would that be what God wants to hear?

When God approached Solomon in a dream, Solomon, being a king, asked for one thing. He asked God for an understanding heart to help him to discern.

He knew he did not have the experience to discern justice correctly for the people. He wanted to be pleasing to God and do right by Him. He wanted to help the people and care for them correctly, fairly and justly.

Who was Solomon thinking of when he asked for understanding? Not himself. He could have asked for anything, but he chose understanding.

His answer to God showed his heart condition, and it was exactly what helped him not only get understanding, but everything else that he could have ever needed and wanted.

1 King 3:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then God said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you.

What would we ask God for today? Would we give Him the answer He is looking for? The answer that would please Him?

Having wisdom and getting understanding is more precious than material possessions. It is important. It is the very thing that helps us every day in discerning our steps. It helps us to make clear decisions and to take the right actions in any given situation.

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

What would we ask for?
