Bible Verse of The Day – 1-29-19

Matthew 4:1 (NKJV) 1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Jesus fasted for 40 days. And at the end of that time, the devil came to tempt Him.

Because Jesus hadn’t eaten for 40 days, the devil offered Jesus what he thought would be the most likely thing to get Him to fall; food.

Jesus rebuffed the devil, telling him that man doesn’t live by bread alone, but by the word of God.

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

The devil tempted Him again, taunting Him and encouraging Him to throw Himself off of the high place they were on, telling Jesus that God’s angels would surely protect Him if He decided to do so.

Again, Jesus countered the devil, telling him that we should not tempt God.

Matthew 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”

The third attempt, the devil took Jesus to a very high place. He showed Jesus great kingdoms of the world and all of their glory, telling Him that if He would bow down to him, all of this could be His.

Once again, Jesus rebuked the devil, telling him to leave, and reminding him that we shall worship and serve God, and only God.

Matthew 4:10 (NKJV) 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

So, if Jesus, the Son of God relied on God’s word to rebuke the devil, how much more should we also rely on God’s word to defend ourselves from the wiles of the enemy?

How much more should we hide God’s word in our hearts to make sure we can stand strong when the pressure of temptation tries its hardest to drive us backwards and bring us to our knees?

Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

His word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Let’s follow that light and stand strong in Him!

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-27-18

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God’s word is absolute. It’s the building blocks upon which our faith sits.

His word is truth; absolute truth. We either believe it in its entirety, or not at all.

Sadly, some people like to “cherry pick” the word of God. They believe some things, but not others. They follow parts of it, but not all of it.

As children of God, we have never been given His permission to be selective in our believing. He has not told us that it’s OK to believe one scripture while rejecting another. It’s all or nothing.

This has led to a dilution, a “watering down” of the Word that renders it weak and ineffective in many ways.

Adultery is no longer sinful in the eyes of some. Fornication is OK under certain circumstances. Stealing is OK if it meets certain conditions. Gossip is acceptable if its intentions are “good”. And the list could go on.

But it’s time for the body of Christ to take a stand. God’s word was not written for us to decide which parts we like and don’t like.

We need to make sure that we are not submitting ourselves to anything less than the whole word of God.

If we are under leadership that blatantly disregards parts of His word, we need to make a choice. We either hold them accountable for their error or place ourselves under different leadership that will speak God’s word without compromise.

Let’s be honest. Error will always be taught somewhere, by someone. It’s a fact of life. But that doesn’t mean that we have to condone it or sit idly by and do nothing about it.

The signs of the times include such things. Selective teaching. Selective hearing. Itching ears.

2 Timothy 4:3-8 (NKJV) 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things…

Let us not be people with itching ears.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-25-18 – Standing Firm On The Word

Please click to watch the video nowGreetings!

God’s word is the foundation that our faith is built on. It is true and unchanging. And it is what we should stand firm on in our walk with God. Our newest video discusses this topic.

In today’s world, it has become popular to pick and choose what we want to believe and what we want to discount as irrelevant or old-fashioned. But, God has not told us to do this.

It’s important that we stay close to God and accept His word in its entirety as the foundation and the guide for our lives.

Please click here to watch it now.

Enjoy your day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-10-18

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Many of us are looking for answers. We have questions and concerns. We want to better understand God and who He is. Maybe we don’t understand why certain things happen the way they do.

This is common for all of us. We think, and we try to sort things out in our heads. We try to make sense of the things we see and hear. Sometimes we can, but most of the time we just can’t seem to put all of the pieces together in a way that makes sense.

God’s word is the key that unlocks all of these things for us. Some people call it “the how-to manual for life”. It’s true. It is that. But it is so much more!

God’s word goes beyond life here on earth and helps give us a better understanding of all things spiritual. He uses it to teach us how to live here, and how to prepare for life with Him in eternity.

Yes, that seems like a lot to swallow. A lot to try to comprehend. But He doesn’t ask us to try to comprehend it all. He asks us to trust Him. And it’s His word that teaches us how to do that, too, to trust Him.

If we are not spending time in His word on a regular basis, we are living this life malnourished and without understanding. And we are fighting our battles under-equipped and unprepared, losing more than we are winning.

It’s time for us all to dig deep into His word, grow in our understanding and become the strong, mature believers He has called us to be.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-2-18

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Knowing the word of God and what He says about certain things is our weapon against the enemy. It helps protect us from his lies, deceit and temptation.

If we don’t know what God says about something, it makes it easier for us to fall into the devil’s trap. We need to educate ourselves and stay fresh and revived.

Let God revive us daily, keeping ourselves close enough to Him so that we will learn something new on a regular basis. We will have a revival in our hearts every day.

Do you need to be revived? Get in God’s word! Don’t wait. Get in there and start reading, even if it’s a little at a time to start off. Dig deep. You will come out refreshed, renewed and revived!

You will see your heart change right before your eyes, and you will have life and life more abundantly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-26-18

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Staying in God’s Word will keep us close to Him.

The devil loves to keep us busy and distracted with a million and one things to do, people pulling on us from every direction, just to keep us out of the word of God. Why? Because God’s Word that we put in us will feed us, fill us and keep us healthy and balanced, moving us forward every day.

It’s not good to give up our time with God to do other things. If we have an emergency, or something comes up and we have to change things up a bit, that’s OK. But, make sure we get our time in with Him. He will start us off every day on the right track.

There have been days when I am completely in a tizzy before I even get out of bed. But as soon as I get myself in the word and in prayer, God just sets me straight. Isn’t He AWESOME?!

You see the enemy will work hard at bringing in distractions even before we get out of bed. Our heads will get so full of thoughts of what needs to be done that we lose our focus before we even start the day.

So, hold the Word close to us. Keep it within reach, so that when we need it, it will be right at our fingertips! Just open it up and start reading.

God is faithful to help us through each day. Stay close to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-6-17

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Being equipped in the word of God will help us to discern the teachings, movements and errors that pop up now and then.

His word helps us in every area of our life. It helps us to know whether or not we are being fooled. It equips us to know how to handle certain situations that we may face. It keeps us balanced in our hearts and prevents us from taking things to extremes, etc.

It’s sad to think that good, innocent people get off track because they don’t know what the word says at times.

They love God and want to do what is right. But sometimes they get caught up in the wrong thing because they don’t know what the scripture says regarding it.

There are Christians right now, as we speak, who are walking a path that’s far from the truth, because of things they heard or saw, and they unwittingly accepted them as truth.

It’s important that, as believers, we know the scriptures. And it is equally as important that we understand them in their proper context.

Why? Because if we don’t know what God’s word says, we will listen to whatever may sound good, or whatever may feel good at the time. And we may mistake it as God’s truth.

We need to remember that not everything God says or does feels good. He brings perfect balance through His word, even when it might not feel pleasant.

God’s word helps us and protects us from being misled by those things that might sound like truth, but can actually lead us into error and away from God’s truth.

Psalm 33:4 (NKJV) 4 For the word of the Lord is right, And all His work is done in truth.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-17

Matthew 13:8 (NKJV) 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Today we’ll look at the last of the different types of seeds that Jesus taught about in the parable of the sower and the seeds.

This last bunch of seeds fell on good ground.

This means that when they heard the word of God, they received it and held it close to their hearts. They treasured it and did whatever it took to protect it, nurture it and make it grow.

And, in turn, those seeds went on to bear much fruit. Some a hundredfold, some sixty and some thirty.

Think about that. A hundredfold return on one seed. Or even sixty or thirtyfold. Those are extremely high returns!

These hearts took the word of God seriously and not only nurtured it in their own lives, but also helped to share it with others.

They saw it as being so important that they diligently worked to make it multiply, in their own lives and in the lives of those around them.

Luke 8:15 (NKJV) 15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

But did you notice that last word or two? With patience.

They took their time. They gave it the proper time and attention needed to bring it to fruition. And, in return, they didn’t just get a return, they saw a huge harvest.

Patience is critical. We need to not be in such a hurry all the time. Remember that those who were in a hurry lost their faith because the cares of the world and the pursuit of riches choked it out and caused it to die.

Treasure God’s word. Cherish it. Protect it and hold it close to your heart.

And you will reap a harvest, in your own life, and for the kingdom of God, a hundredfold, sixtyfold or thirtyfold.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-17

Matthew 13:7 (NKJV) 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.

As the sower continued to sow his seeds, there were some that fell on thorny ground.

The thorns in this verse represent the cares of this world, and the worldly riches that so many of us spend our lives seeking desperately after.

Sadly, there are very many people who fall into this category. The world will offer us so much to hold our time and attention.

Careers, hobbies, personal vanity, material possessions, bigger homes, luxurious cars and a huge list of other things.

We can dawdle away our lives in search of these things, and if we’re not careful, our love for God gets pushed to the back burner. And before we know it, that love starts to falter and grow weaker.

Soon, if we’re not careful, that flame will smolder and go out. And we will have traded our destiny for wealth, material things and the attention of others.

We can’t stress enough how important it is to guard our hearts and make God’s treasures our own.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-17-17

Matthew 13:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.

As the sower continued to sow his seeds, some of them fell on stony ground.

Stony ground has very little dirt. There is some, but not enough to support healthy growth or longevity.

Seeds sown on stony ground will typically spring up quickly, since they don’t get buried very deep in the dirt. But as the sun hits them, they also dry up and whither very quickly. And as quickly as they sprang to life, they die.

They live a very short life and bear no fruit.

Such is the word of God when it is heard and received by some. They immediately embrace it, and are full of joy! But they have no root and it only lasts for a while.

When they face trials and persecution because of the word, they immediately stumble.

It’s so important that we take His word seriously. We need to absorb it and get it embedded deeply within us. And as we do this, it is protected and will sustain us through everything we face in life.

We will continue tomorrow. As always, embrace His word and hold it deep in your hearts. His word is life!
