Bible Verse of The Day – 11-18-21

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The first words in this verse say, “the word of God is living and powerful”. Amen!

His Word is alive and powerful.

We teach often on the importance of staying in the word of God. It is so important that we make this a priority because of the effect it has on us. It’s living and powerful! We all need this today.

The next thing it tells us is that the word is sharp, so it can cut through those very hard-as-stone places that we all have in us.

Finally, it also says that it is a discerner.

His word shows us who we really are. This is how the Word can help us, by keeping us accountable.

Who likes accountability?

The average person will not raise their hand for this. But a believer that has been through some things, and has come out the other side with the word of God, will raise their hand in a heartbeat.

Why?

Because they have grown and matured and they understand that the Word of God, and the accountability it brings, will bring freedom to us and a life that is far better than living it out on our own.

Romans 14:12 (NKJV) 12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-20-21

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

As believers, the word of God is our source of truth.

It is true and trustworthy.

Because of this, we need to be careful that we never allow the ways of the world to sway our thoughts on the things that the Bible states as absolutes.

This typically isn’t an issue for most believers. We see what God’s word says, and we know that it means what it says. We don’t question it or contradict it because of the opinions of the world.

If we’re not careful, though, we will begin to allow certain types of information to change our views on what some call “social issues”.

As a case in point, if we were to look at what the Bible says about specific sins (1 Corinthians 6:9-10), we would readily admit and agree that it says they are wrong; thievery, drunkenness, idolatry, fornication, adultery, covetousness and extortion.

Sadly, because of the influence of the world, and because of rhetoric that we have been bombarded with, many believers will draw a line when it comes to other certain sins that the Bible says are just as wrong as those listed above.

The most notable of these is homosexuality.

Because we have been inundated with so much information the last 20 years about homosexuality, and because the world now openly promotes it in the mass media, many in the body of Christ are now hurling insults at any believer who still takes God’s word at face value and believes that this is still a sin.

The terrible irony lies in the fact that we could name the 8 sins immediately above, and nobody would argue. Everyone would nod in agreement that these are sins. Why? Because God’s word says they are.

But when it comes to homosexuality and sodomy, the same people will dig their heels in and proclaim loudly that, 1. they aren’t sure if it’s a sin or, 2. we are judging people if we say it’s a sin.

Do you see the contradictory nature of this?

Why has this happened? Why will people so easily agree that 8 of those 10 behaviors are sinful, but then balk at the other two, even though they are all listed together as a group?

Because it has been “normalized” by the world, and because our minds have been affected by the onslaught of information that we have been hit with for the last two decades.

People of God, it’s time that we see the ways of the world for what they are. We need to recognize the rhetoric when we hear it and see it, and tell the purveyors of such information, “no, thank you”.

And we need to ask God to transform us by the renewing of our minds, that we will still take Him at His word.

This is not an expose` on the evils of homosexuality. It is simply an effort to unveil one of the ways that the enemy subtly sneaks into the minds of the saints of God, and whispers quietly into our ear, “did God really say that?”, just as he did with Eve in the garden so many centuries ago.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-17-21

Matthew 7:24 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

This verse illustrates the absolute necessity of following God and doing His will. That is, the things He tells us to do.

His Word will guide us. We just have to be obedient in our listening.

Most importantly, we need to have His word working and alive in us. How do we get His word alive in us?

We read it and take it to heart. We don’t just skim through the pages and read it like it’s a regular book. We let every word penetrate our heart, and let it do its thing in and through us every day. We try our best, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to walk it out.

For instance, have you ever had a scripture seem like it leapt off the page and spoke directly to what you were going through at that very moment?

That’s exactly how it works.

Now, we can ignore that this just happened and totally go on our way. Or we can acknowledge it and press in to God, and ask Him, “What is it that I need to do?”. And then we do it. That is God’s word alive in us.

We should be wanting to spend time in His word even more once we realize the power that comes through reading and obeying the scriptures.

They will feed us when we are hungry. They will bring healing when we hurt. They will comfort us when we are uncomfortable. They will give us wisdom when we are confused about knowing how or what to do in certain situations.

His Word will bring protection upon us when the enemy tries to destroy us.

Psalm 143:9 (NKJV) 9 Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; In You I take shelter.

The amazing Word of God is our guide for our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-28-21

Revelation 22:20 (NKJV) 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Those 5 words are my absolute favorites in the entirety of God’s word.

Ever since reading them for the very first time back in the mid 1980s, they have stuck with me like glue.

I had been laid off from my job and was spending massive amounts of time devouring the Word every night at bedtime, until the wee hours of the morning, with my little reading lamp clipped to my Bible.

I remember reading through the book of Revelation and being in total awe at what was in there; such incredible, jaw-dropping imagery of things to come.

And I remember not only being in awe, but being somewhat terrified by some of it at first. It is, after all, pretty serious stuff that will cause the faint of heart to run away.

But God led me through it, teaching me along the way, showing me His power, His grace, His mercy and His faithfulness, and showing me that if we follow Him closely and trust Him, it will all be good in the end.

And then, at the very end of the book, there were those 5 words; even so, come, Lord Jesus.

My heart was strengthened by them. And I remember thinking, “God, you are truly mighty and incredible. Yes, Lord, come quickly”.

That was roughly 35 years ago. And today, as we watch the world go through birth pangs, and the end times creep closer and closer, those 5 words echo in my mind almost daily. And sometimes even multiple times each day.

There is still much work to be done here. It is not time to sit back and rest. So, we encourage you to continue to press in to God like never before.

Devour His word. Let Him speak to you through it like never before. Stick to Him like glue. Let nothing come between you and Him. Nothing.

And as we do battle in the spirit, rest only in those 5 words; even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-22-21

Psalm 119:130 (NKJV) 130 The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

God’s word is the single most important thing that we can partake of as a child of God.

His word feeds us, gives us wisdom, offers counsel, gives us understanding and does so much more for us as we take it in and apply it to our lives.

This simple scripture above sums it up perfectly, telling us that the entrance of His word gives light.

What this means is that it brings light to our minds and our spirits, allowing even the simple to understand things that would otherwise be incomprehensible to us.

This is why it’s so important for each and every one of us to spend time in His word. Whether we are a new believer or we have been a believer for many decades, we all need a daily infusion of His word.

It brings light into the darkness, truth that prevails over lies, freedom where there is bondage.

Here’s the key to all of this; we need to read it.

We need to determine within ourselves to set time aside each and every day to read it, take it in and let it speak to us by His Spirit.

This one thing will move us closer and closer to God, as we apply what we read to our hearts and to our daily lives as we walk them out here on earth.

We will never, ever be sorry for time spent in His word.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-13-21

Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Psalm 119 has become my absolute favorite Psalm as I have recently spent more and more time reading it through repeatedly.

There are so many foundational principles found within it that will help us solidify our walk with God if we learn them and put them into practice in our lives.

The principle above, hiding His word in our hearts, is key to letting God create a clean heart within us.

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

A clean heart is increasingly important to guide us in every aspect of our lives. This includes decisions we make, the words we speak, the thoughts we think and the actions we take (or choose not to take) in our daily lives.

The level of “cleanliness” in our heart will dictate how close we are to God.

Why?

Because sin cannot be in God’s presence. So, when there is sin in our lives, that sin pushes us away from God, even when we want to be close to Him. Sin makes it impossible for us to get as close to Him as we could be if that sin wasn’t present.

Now, it’s important for us to understand that sin comes in many different forms.

Many people automatically think of murder, adultery, fornication and many other types of actions.

But there are some types of sins that are less obvious, especially outwardly, to those around us.

Pride, self-pity, conceit, arrogance, haughtiness, ungratefulness, stubbornness and a lengthy list of similar “invisible” sins are just as dangerous and deadly to us.

They all make us “dirty”.

But having God’s word hidden in our hearts will help us to clean those things out from within us, giving us that clean heart that was referred to in Psalm 51:10.

And, in turn, that will help us to draw closer and closer to God. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-21 – The Hidden Word

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ!

God is faithful in all things.

One of God’s most precious gifts to us is His word. It has been penned by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. And it is a resource that He has provided for each and every one of us to have.

It’s important that we not neglect that precious gift, and that we are faithful in partaking of His word as often as we can.

In today’s video, “The Hidden Word”, we teach on the importance of hiding His word in our hearts.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to give this a watch.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Stay close to Him in these turbulent times.

We love you all deeply.

Sincerely,

Pastor Curt & Pastor Ellie

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-9-20

Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV) 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

As I was sitting here this evening, doing some research that was completely unrelated to Biblical matters, God dropped this verse into my spirit.

I hadn’t thought about this particular scripture in quite a while, so I figured I’d take a look and see what I could find.

As I studied it and meditated on it, here are a few things that stood out to me.

First, it is God’s word. It is not man’s word. It is not man’s idea. It is God’s word. Let that sink in. God’s word.

His word is life. It is what created everything we see. His word is more powerful than we can possibly comprehend.

And look what He says next. It comes from His mouth.

It isn’t an idea or a concept. It doesn’t come from anywhere else other than His mouth.

What hit me next was that it will not return to Him void.

OK. But what does that mean? Let’s take a look.

In its simplest form, it means that it will not be fruitless. So, His word always produces fruit. It will never be useless. It will always be effective. It always produces results.

What does He say next? He says that His word will accomplish what He pleases.

His word has purpose. He speaks for a reason. And the purpose for which He speaks will come to pass. It will be fulfilled.

And look at how He wraps this up. It shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

His words are not spoken randomly or without cause. When He speaks them, they are not like a machine gun just spraying bullets everywhere.

They are precise! They are targeted and spoken with purpose.

And they prosper in the purpose for which they were sent.

There is life in this. There is hope in this.

Let His word bring you hope!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-27-20

1 Peter 1:24-25 (NKJV) 24 because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

Life. It’s conceived, it exists for a season, and then it’s gone.

Peter quotes a scripture from Isaiah (40:6-8) to make his point about this.

The original scripture from Isaiah uses grass and flowers to draw a parallel between the brief life of grass (and flowers) and a human life.

We all know that human life is fragile and fleeting. But many times, we don’t grasp this truth as solidly as we should. For some reason we just can’t seem to fully wrap our heads around the harsh reality of it.

As we grow older, though, we usually start to comprehend it in a new way that makes it more real. Losing someone in our lives can also drive this home on a personal level.

What’s most important in this particular scripture, though, is the comparison that’s made between the quickly-passing life of humans and the eternal nature of God’s word, and the incredible power that God’s word has to change us.

You see, we can’t change the fact that life comes and it goes. We live and then we pass on into eternity. This never changes.

Our lives while we’re here on earth, though, can be changed by God’s word, which never passes away.

In fact, our lives can be changed dramatically by His word!

So, it’s important that we not focus on the temporary nature of life, but rather on the way that God can change us and use us for His glory, no matter where we come from or what we’ve been through.

Life is here today and gone tomorrow. God’s word is not. His word endures forever. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-22-20 – The Big Picture

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings!

We pray that you are walking more closely with God today than you were last week or last month!

We have another new video out today, “The Big Picture”.

In today’s video, we discuss and teach about making sure we’re always looking at the big picture when it comes to learning from God’s word.

Too many mistakes can be made if we only use “scripture snippets” or small pieces of verses taken out of context.

The video is short and to the point and it was fun to record.

We hope you‘ll take a few minutes to watch it.

Enjoy your day!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-5-20

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The word of God is so very important to us. We hold onto it for our lives, because it gives us life and keeps us going down the right path.

One of the biggest questions we get from people all around the world is, “how do we hear from God?”.

And the 2nd biggest is, “how do we know what steps to take or when to make a move?”.

These are two very big questions for all of us. And although we would love to give each and every one of you a step-by-step plan as to how to know, the safest and clearest thing to say is, “get it in the word.”

The understanding of God’s timing, and His answers for you are hidden in the scriptures.

We have to seek Him to find them.

We will always hear from God when we are in His Word.

Now, here is the important thing we all need to remember and to know for our own situations. We need to get all of the Word for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.

This doesn’t mean we have to read the whole Bible at once to get our answer for the situation we are in now.

But it means we need to be able to read and study without skipping the sections that we don’t think pertain to us in this day and age we live in. You know; those things that don’t seem relevant because of the difference in cultures between then and now.

It’s also important that we remember that it says “all scripture”, not just part of the scriptures.

This is where some get confused and go off on the wrong road. They only take part of the scripture, and because of this, they don’t ever get the fullness and the balance they need.

We would never order an ice cream cone and settle for just the cone. We want it all!

If we got the cone with no ice cream, we would know right away that we were missing something! We’d be like, “Come on… where’s the best part of it?”.

Some of us are settling for just the cone.

We need all the scripture working in us to be able to reach our destination, fix our errors and walk in righteousness. We need it to bring balance in every area of our life.

Read the whole Word of God. Be thoroughly equipped for every good work! Amen.
