Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-19

Ephesians 1:7 (NKJV) 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace…

Grace, grace, God’s Grace…how wonderful is His Grace!! Thank you, Lord, for the forgiveness of our sins. Thank you for your Grace! Amen.

Today is a good day to be reminded of what the Lord did for us.

He loves us so much that He gave His life on the cross for you and me. Some may say, “why, I don’t even deserve it? I am so bad at times and even when I want to be good, I still mess things up, so why would Jesus love me so much?”.

Why did He do it? Because, He is God in the flesh, and God loved us even before we were born.

Ephesians 1:4 (NKJV) 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love…

He came here through a virgin, to gather us up to Him and to destroy the darkness that tries to destroy us.

He loves us, and nothing shall separate us from Him. Not death, not life, nor powers of darkness, and not anything in and of this world.

Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Rejoice in Him today. We don’t have to search any more for love, because He first loved us.

1 John 4:19 (NKJV) 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-4-18

Ephesians 2:4-5 (NKJV) 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

God’s grace is often misunderstood, under-valued, and sometimes even strangely twisted by some.

We recently had someone comment on one of our videos that was teaching about righteousness. In his comments, the man stated that God’s grace is not enough to save us.

He went on to say that we are ultimately saved by our works, and that God’s grace is only enough to erase the sins that we committed prior to finding Christ. After we are saved, it is up to us to earn our way into heaven by our own righteousness and good works.

If that was true, we would be in a heap of trouble. All of us.

Romans 3:10 (NKJV) 10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;

You see, God wants us to live our lives righteously. His word tells us this many, many times, even in the New Testament, after Jesus had come and died for our sins. But this isn’t so we can earn our way into heaven.

It is to set an example to others and to show that we are no longer slaves to the sin that so strongly held us captive before we met Jesus.

The Bible tells us that if we are free in Christ, we are free indeed. It doesn’t say that we will be free if we live the rest of our lives 100% sinless. That is a human impossibility.

But because we now have the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us, God has equipped us to be able to resist temptation and walk away from sin as He leads us to do so.

Will we always do that perfectly? No. We will still make some poor choices at times. But we are told very bluntly that if we resist the devil, he will flee from us.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Salvation and forgiveness are gifts of God. Plain and simple. They are not to be earned. They cannot be used like trophies that we have won in a race. We cannot boast in what we have done to secure them.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

If we are to boast in anything at all, it should only be in what Jesus has done for all of us.

Galatians 6:14 (NKJV) 14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-9-18

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

The scripture above is a foundational truth for our faith.

As believers, we typically learn very early in our walk with God that we are saved only by faith and our trust in God to forgive our sins and wash them away.

It seems like such a huge gift at the time, setting us free from the burden of our sin without us having to work for it.

But as time goes by, we can tend to forget this basic truth. Sometimes it gets forgotten because we go on to learn more and more about God, who He is and what He’s like. So, a basic truth such as this one might seem simple and trivial after a while.

Other times, as we begin to grow in our faith, we can begin to forget the sinful self that we once were, and what God has rescued us from, and we may begin to judge others as though we have earned our salvation and we are better than those around us.

Either way, if we lose sight of this truth, we have lost something very important that keeps us “on a level playing field” with every other human being, so to speak. And when that happens, we might as well toss God’s plan for salvation right out the window, because by doing so, we have undone everything that Jesus did on the cross.

It’s important that we let this verse remind us that it is truly by faith that we are saved, and not by anything we have done that we can boast about.

For by grace you have been saved by faith. Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-31-18

Psalm 145:8-9 (NKJV) 8 The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy. 9 The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works.

This verse came to me yesterday as I was crying out in prayer for someone dear to me. I felt very helpless at the time for this particular situation. Within my own understanding I just didn’t know how, nor could I even see a way out for them. I was terribly saddened and feeling a heaviness at that particular moment.

After praying, I opened my Bible and this is the first verse I saw. It was my answer!

This verse right here spoke volumes to me.

I had received a phone call on this day and I needed to go out and help someone with their situation. It was a bittersweet moment. I was happy to be able to be there to help, but the things I saw saddened my heart.

As I prayed for this person, their situation became real to me and I truly felt for them. I hurt for them. I wept for them and I tried to put myself in their place. I was asking myself what would I do and how would I handle it, if that was me.

To be honest, it was a very hard situation, and from my own understanding I drew nothing but a blank.

How many of us are drawing a blank today? It’s OK to admit this. Because God will come and He will fill in those blanks with His word.

The scripture above says He is gracious. This showed me that no matter how far down we get, His hand can reach us.

He’s slow to anger, and great in mercy. It’s not over for us. Don’t even think we’re done. He will help us fix this.

He is good to all. That means you, me and anyone going through trials and who calls on His name. His mercies are over all of His works!

Be encouraged today. God has our back! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-18

John 11:25 (NKJV) 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

This is so simply beautiful. Believe in Jesus Christ, and though we may die someday, we shall live! This means that when we pass away, our natural, fleshly body stops living. But we, our soul, remains alive!

Because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, we became the righteousness of God in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Jesus Christ sacrificed His life for us and made things right between us and the Father. He made the way.

As we receive Him and believe in Him sincerely and wholeheartedly, surrendering our lives to Him, we shall continue to live even after our body is gone.

His GRACE is amazing!

Romans 6:14 (NKJV) 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-1-17

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Our lives tell a story. Each hour, day, week, month and year are the words, sentences, paragraphs and chapters.

Those pages are filled with everything we do, both the good and the bad.

Most of us tend to look only at the bad, whether in our own lives or in the lives of others. For some reason, we just tend to focus on the bad more than anything else. And this can really cause us to have a negative outlook on things.

In our own lives, it can cause us to think that maybe, just maybe, we have done things that God can’t forgive. We look back on our lives, and the choices we’ve made, and we think there is no possible way that we can overcome those things and have favor with God.

But let me tell you something today. God’s grace is sufficient.

We look at our life through human eyes. And we see pages filled with sin, bad choices and rebellion. But God’s grace changes that.

Through God’s grace, those pages are full of spaces where there was once sin. But now those spaces are pure white. His grace does that for us.

The key here is a repentant heart. When we mess up, we just need to go to Him, sincerely repent and ask Him to forgive our shortcomings. And He does.

We hear that word, repent, a lot. But what does it mean?

Repent: to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life.

Notices that it says “turn from sin”. It doesn’t just say “be sorry for sin”. Nope! It says that we turn from it and we amend our life. We change it up.

God’s grace makes this all possible. Because without His grace, repentance would be useless.

So, remember this; when we see pages full of darkness, sin and ugly stuff, God’s grace comes along like a big eraser and turns that blackness into light.

Repent. Amend our lives. And let God’s grace re-write our story.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-17

Romans 5:20 (NKJV) 20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more…

We have all sinned. We have all done things we’re not proud of.

Romans 3:23 (NKJV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…

Some of us may wrestle with guilt because of something we’ve done. Maybe it’s something in our distant past. Maybe it’s something we did just yesterday. Maybe even today.

It doesn’t really matter when it happened. And, to be honest, it doesn’t even matter what it was that happened. We want to remind you of one thing.

Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.

Have you failed in your marriage? Have you lost your temper and said something you wish you could take back? Have you stolen or lied? Have you judged someone or lusted after someone? Maybe you’ve done more than one of these!

But, you know what? God’s grace is sufficient to handle all of these and more.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Does He like it when we sin? Of course not. Sin separates us from Him.

But by His grace, we are made whole again. All we need to do is repent and ask for His forgiveness. It’s that simple.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

And then we ask Him to give us strength to avoid that sin. And we move forward!

So if guilt has you looking down or beating yourself up, stop. Give it to God and move on.

And remember that each morning is a new day with the opportunity to make it better than yesterday.

BIble Verse of The Day – 12-27-16

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

God’s grace is sufficient.

It doesn’t matter what we’re facing; the loss of a loved one, a financial crisis, a troubled relationship, sin in our own lives or anything else that we might come up against. His grace is sufficient.

Sufficient: enough to meet the needs of a situation

What are you dealing with today? What kind of situation are you facing that requires God’s grace in your life?

As we face those things that test us and show us our weaknesses, that is when we realize the need for God’s grace, and the fact that our weaknesses require His strength.

So don’t let your troubles wear you down or break you. They will if we let them. But it’s up to us to let God use those hard times to build us and strengthen our faith in Him.

And remember… no trial lasts forever. No season lasts a lifetime. Dark times come, but they also go. So hold fast to your faith and lean on Him. Joy is coming!

Psalm 30:5 (NKJV) 5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-18-16

Romans 5:15 (NKJV) 15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.

We have all made mistakes. Probably more than we care to admit.

Some of those mistakes had far-reaching consequences. We might even still be dealing with the aftermath of some of those mistakes today. Sometimes this can last for months, or maybe even years.

And those mistakes can sometimes keep us in guilt, shame or regret for a very long time. But only if we hold onto them and allow them to hold onto us.

In life there is no rewind. We can’t go back and erase a single bad choice or mistake. But we can let God show us how to take care of the guilt, shame and regret and move on with our lives.

You see, God’s grace is available to us, to allow us to wipe our slate clean and move forward. His grace is free. We can’t buy it and we can’t earn it. That’s what makes it so incredibly awesome.

His grace, if we choose to accept it, leaves us blameless, spotless and 100% clean in His eyes. We just have to make the choice to accept His grace, leave our sins, our bad choices, our mistakes, our shame, our guilt and our regrets at His feet and move forward, with His grace and mercy leading us.

It may not always be easy to do, but He will guide us and help us through it if we will let Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-4-16

Romans 6:1-2 (NKJV) 6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Grace is a gift from God. It is part of His plan for giving us freedom from our sins.

When we mess up and do something we shouldn’t do, grace allows us to go to God and be forgiven. It’s part of the reason we aren’t condemned to hell for sinning. And grace means that even though we don’t always get it right, God can still look upon us and not be repelled by our behavior. It also means that we can have fellowship with Him, despite our less-than-perfect ways.

Grace, however, is not a “license to sin”, as some might look at it as being. Just because we have God’s grace in our lives doesn’t give us the right to do what we please simply because we know that God’s grace is available to us.

Intentionally and willfully acting out our sinful desires is the equivalent of nailing Jesus to the cross and crucifying Him all over again. Please don’t mistake this as meaning that if we occasionally make a bad choice that we are purposely crucifying Christ repeatedly. But repeated, habitual choices to commit acts that are contrary to God’s word and His desire for our lives do make light of what Jesus did for us.

This can be a hard message for us to swallow. It causes us to face ourselves and see who we really are in the light of God’s holiness. It forces us to admit our shortcomings and our faults. And it brings humility to us as we realize that we still need God’s grace in our lives.

This is not a message of condemnation. This is, however a good reminder for us to hold ourselves accountable to God and live our lives as beacons of light, not as purveyors of darkness.

Starting today, right now, go forth and be the light of the world and the salt of the earth.
