Bible Verse of The Day – 5-4-21

Matthew 6:15 (NKJV) 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Forgiveness is huge!

If we live by it, it will bring freedom to us. Yes, when we forgive others, it does wonders for us.

We may say, “but why should we forgive them, when they need to apologize to us or they need to make things right with us first?”.

This kind of rationalizing is the problem that causes unhealthy relationships with God. And we Christians walk around harboring anger and bitterness in our hearts while shouting “praise the LORD! And Hallelujah!”.

We think we need an apology before we forgive. But that’s not how it goes.

It would be nice, but more often than not, it won’t happen that way.

We must be able to forgive and release them, even If the other person does not ever make it right with us.

Who is holding on and waiting today to hear, “I’m sorry”? Who is struggling with a hard life and unhappiness because they have unforgiveness in their hearts?

Who is actually sick in their bodies because they are not going to give in and forgive someone for something they said or did to them? Is it worth it?

Let me say, we are not hurting or teaching them a lesson by holding this against them. Instead, we are hurting ourselves deeply.

I can probably take a guess and say our life is miserable and we are not currently happy. There is no peace within us because we have been hurt and our heart remains broken for years.

Until we take a step toward forgiving them, we will suffer and keep on suffering. Nothing will change or get better for us. Everything we try in order to feel better will just be a temporary fix.

Let God help with this process. He will give us strength and show us the steps to begin our healing.

The first step is going to be the hardest one.

Why? Because that first step requires us to make a sincere effort to forgive them for all the wrong they have done to us.

If we can’t do this, it will eat us up. If we can, and we take that step today, healing will begin.

We are praying with you and for you to make the effort and not linger any longer in bitterness, anger, unhappiness or sickness. Once we let it go, and God knows our heart has shifted, we will find peace that surpasses all understanding, and we will begin to move forward.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-24-19

Luke 11:4 (NKJV) 4 And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.”

Forgive us our sins, for we have forgiven those indebted to us.

Are we holding anyone in debt?

Just as we need God’s forgiveness, we also need to forgive others. Daily we must set our will to walk in love and forgiveness. It doesn’t matter what they have done or said, we are not to keep them indebted to us.

How do we do this?

It’s a big change that needs to happen in our hearts. It takes the Holy Spirit and time to learn to walk consistently in this. It takes us loving God so much that even if it hurt us, we will obey.

We are easily tempted to not forgive people when they deliberately hurt us. It is a human reaction. We get stubborn and we clam up. Sometimes we never speak to them again.

It is not a question of should we. It is a must. There are consequences if we do not.

Matthew 6:15 (NKJV) 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Our hearts have to be very close to Him to be ready to forgive in this manner. There has to be an understanding that it is the righteous thing to do.

When we are walking closely with God, it will be more noticeable when we are holding onto something, and we will want to make it right.

Spend time reading His word. He will get close. When it comes time to forgive, our heart will be ready and we won’t even flinch.

Forgive them, let them go, and we will be forgiven for ours.

Isaiah 43:25 (NKJV) 25 “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-29-18

Mark 11:25 (NKJV) 25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

Forgiving may be hard to do at times, especially if we still hurt from what was done to us.

Something so personal can really penetrate and take deep roots. The deeper the roots, the harder and longer it can take to get it out of there. And the more damage it will cause us personally.

Forgiving the person is the first step we must aim to take; the rest will take care of itself after the fact. If we are hurting and the wound is raw, cry out to God for His help immediately.

I remember one day I went to lunch with some very dear friends; people I trusted and enjoyed being around very much. As we were eating and talking, it was like they suddenly ganged up on me, with no warning.

I couldn’t believe it, but it was truth staring me in the face. They had planned the luncheon and the verbal attack.

As I continued to try and swallow down my lunch and keep cool, my eyes were tearing up and my heart was hurting. I was taken aback by the whole thing.

God helped me to finish up my lunch and handle the situation, and we left on good terms. God even gave me the strength to muster up a smile as we departed.

When I got home, I ran straight to my room. I bawled my eyes out and cried out to God. Why? How could people do such mean things?

He held me that day and He comforted me for as long as I needed it. He helped me to understand and to choose to forgive them that very hour. Yes, I still cried about it and it still hurt for a while afterwards. However, the healing began to take place when I let it go and forgave them all. Amen.

Today, if I was to come face to face with them, I could stand there and know in my heart that I am good with them and I have no hurt feelings remaining in my heart toward them.

How?

Because God took it. He fixed it, and now instead of being in pain and having hardness there, it is simply a lesson learned.

The things we go through should not taint us, but teach us. God can restore and bring good things out of them. Instead of pain residing in our hearts, we have His Word, living, breathing and teaching us.

Psalm 40:8 (NKJV) 8  I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-29-16

Ephesians 4:31 (NKJV) 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

Everyone reading this has been hurt by someone at some point. For some of you it may have been very recently.

Everyone reading this has been used or abused by someone. Maybe it was in your distant past or maybe it was yesterday. It might have even been today.

And this is something that most of us deal with or have dealt with on one level or another. None of us are unique in this aspect.

The question that you and I have to answer is this: What will you do with it?

We have two options. We can hold on to it. We can be angry. We can become bitter and miserable.

Or we can forgive them, trust God to work it out and move on with our lives.

Bitterness is like an infection. It starts out small, with a seemingly small effect on us. And then it can spread, poisoning our entire being and killing us from the inside, out. It’s silent and it’s deadly.

But it can be treated! How? By letting God show us how to let go of those things that we were hurt by and give them to Him. And then trusting and obeying Him and doing what He tells us to do, even if we might not like it.

Rooting out bitterness can take time, especially if it’s been there for a long time. But the length of time it takes for it to be removed is really up to us and how willing we are to let go of it.

No, it’s not always easy, but God gives us everything we need to make it as easy as it can be.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-25-16

Matthew 6:15 (NKJV) 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Yesterday, I ran into someone I hadn’t seen in a very long time. We were very close friends at one time in our lives. Some hurtful things took place and we became distant.

When I saw this person for the first time, face to face after many years, it was very uncomfortable for me. But the more we talked the easier it became.

When people hurt us, it takes some time for healing to happen. But there comes a time when we may run into that person again and we have to put it behind us and let it go.

That means holding nothing against them. When we see them we don’t associate them with what they did wrong.

God forgives. He does not remember. He doesn’t see our face and connect it with our mistakes. He simply forgives us as we ask Him to. And we need to do the same for those that make mistakes against us.

Forgive.
