Bible Verse of The Day – 4-7-22

Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV) 24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

We all want a friend. Not some fly-by-night, but someone that will stick by our side through good times and bad times.

People are fickle sometimes. It can be hard to find a good friend.

When we do find someone to call our friend, it’s important to make sure that we are good to them and we respect them. Remember to give back. That is what makes a balanced friendship.

How many today have never found someone good that they can call on, but, you yourself are always there for others?

That is the way a lot of so-called friendships are; one way. Not much of a friendship at all for the one that is always giving, doing and putting forth the effort to keep it going.

It can be exhausting at times. And eventually we get burnt out and want to run away.

There is One, though, who will stand by our side; someone closer than a brother. And that’s pretty close.

He will be there for us no matter what we have to deal with. He even knows before we will have to deal with things and He goes before us to make sure things go right.

He protects, loves and listens to us, and we need to do the same for Him.

Listen, He is the best friend we could ever have. When He says come to me and rest, He means it. We can rest in His arms and He won’t get mad or upset because it requires effort on His part.

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Don’t be afraid today if you feel lonely and without a close friend. Reach out to the One who can hold us better than any other person ever could.

Jesus is there for us. Never will He leave us, even in the most disappointing moments and seasons of our lives. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-27-16

1 Corinthians 15:33 (NKJV) 33 Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”

Spending time around those who don’t have Christ can affect us. In this verse it says it will “corrupt us”. How many of us have had this happen in our own lives?

We think we are going to CHANGE them. Oh, is that right?

Maybe we like their attitude, their personality, their looks, etc. Maybe we like that they’re successful or have a lot of nice things. Whatever the reason, we are drawn to them and we become friends. We start talking and hanging out more and more.

Not long after, we start to think and talk like them. Things that we would never do or say in the past begin to bother us less and we begin to think, “ah…it’s all right. It’s not that bad and it doesn’t even affect me”.

We start to make excuses for those things we are doing and saying, and we continue right on doing them. After awhile it gets easier to do these things, and then more things get added on. And so the process has begun.

Little by little, inch by inch, we begin to change. And then some day we will look back and say, “WOW, how did that happen?”.

Evil company corrupts good habits. Be alert. Be on guard. Be firm and stand our ground. Don’t cave in just because we like someone.

There is plenty of GOOD company out there.
