Bible Verse of The Day – 5-29-21

John 15:1-2  (NKJV) 1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

It’s important for us to know that we have Someone working in our lives, helping us grow as believers. Someone Who teaches us how to live in a way that’s pleasing to God.

We have Someone who will guide us in the way we should go, and that guidance is done with excellence.

He knows what is good for us. And we can rest assured, knowing that if we follow Him, it is the best move we can ever make.

We have Someone who will keep us safe, helping us to avoid making irresponsible moves if we take His advice and listen to His convictions.

If we follow through and don’t give into peer pressure, we will make the right choice at any given moment.

He will help us remove and avoid the ugly, bad things that will hurt us if we continue in them.

We have Someone who leads us down a path that helps bear unbelievable amounts of wonderful fruit if we take heed and let Him shape and prune us.

He is faithful to the end if we stay connected to the Vine, Jesus Christ, and the Father, the Vinedresser, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, our Helper! Amen.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Bible Verse of the Day – 5-27-21

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Oh, how we need our Helper. He is everything we need at every moment we face.

One day I (Pastor Ellie) was struggling with something that was very hard to swallow. I truly didn’t know how to handle it.

I cried out to God, and said, “Father, I don’t know what to do with this. I don’t know how to handle it. It’s bigger than me. It’s more than my mind knows what to do with. I’m afraid.”

It was at that moment; I felt warmth, like that of a blanket, being gently placed in the empty hole that I had (of not knowing what to do).

And with that blanket came everything I needed to bring me such comfort, strength and the ability to get up and move.

The fear was gone. The emptiness was filled. The wisdom came and got me on my feet and moved me forward.

Every bit of what I needed came in that form of a blanket and comforted me in every aspect.

I can’t explain it. I just knew I was OK after that! It was that easy.

You see, most times it is simply fear that grips us.

We become afraid to know what steps to take, afraid to do the wrong thing, afraid to make a mistake, afraid to reach out, afraid to be alone. We may even be afraid to not make a move at all.

Fear grips our hearts at times and can paralyze us, keeping us standing still.

In some cases fear will cause us to go backwards because we don’t know what to do with what we face.

But know that our Helper is waiting to hear from us and bring such a great comfort in times of despair.

In those times when we feel lost or hard-pressed, we have Him. That is what He is here for!

2 Corinthians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair…

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-21

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Jesus was talking to the disciples here.

He didn’t expect them to be able to go into the world and preach the gospel by their own strength or understanding.

He knew they needed a Helper to accomplish what was before them.

Just as the disciples in the days of Jesus needed the Holy Spirit, so do we in our daily lives.

If we don’t let Him speak to our hearts when we need Him, that is our choice. But we need to understand that He is willing. I believe we need to call on Him for help at times. I believe the ears to our heart need to be always open to Him. And I believe that if we listen and follow His help we will accomplish, we will conquer and we will win the battles we face in the flesh every day!

We can’t wait until Sunday or Wednesday nights to get His words. We need Him every hour of every day, alive and able to freely speak to our hearts.

In order for us to shine God’s light and show His love in this world, we need to win the battles on the inside of us so that we can walk in the greatest gift of all; Love.

We need to be kind, and encouraging, but also firm when needed.

We can’t do this without our Helper. There is so much that affects us. We are flesh. We are emotional. We hurt at times, and we are weak.

2 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV) 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

It is the Holy Spirit, our Helper, that makes us strong enough to do the things God asks of us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-20

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

There is a wealth of information in this verse, especially when it comes to understanding our relationship with God. So, we will take yet another look at it today, to glean as much as we can from it.

It’s important that we understand the fact that the natural man (our intellect) can’t receive (hear, comprehend, understand) the things of the Spirit of God.

Why?

Because they are spiritually discerned.

This means that without the Spirit of God being able to communicate with our spirit, there is no possible way for us to hear from God or understand the things of God.

If we were to try to understand the things of the Spirit of God solely with our intellect, and no knowledge of His word, they would seem foolish to us.

If we add some knowledge of His word, it may help us at least know that God is real, but we will still lack true understanding.

When we allow our spirit to hear from His Spirit, then we begin to get understanding that helps us put all of the pieces together, so to speak.

We start to see and understand things that were previously difficult for us to grasp. We start to hear God speak to us like we never have before. And we start to be able to walk with Him in ways that are absolutely life-changing.

Our spiritual ears begin to hear things that we never knew were there. Our spiritual eyes begin to see clearly, where they used to be dull and dark. And our own spirit begins to discern things of the spiritual realm that we didn’t even know existed.

The Bible tells us that we are comprised of a body, soul and spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV) 23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s the spirit in us that God intended to be used for communing with Him and for Him to be able to communicate with us, all via our spirit, not our intellect. It’s our spirit that allows us to function as a mature believer.

So, until we realize this very important foundational truth, we will never truly be able to mature as a believer or fully develop our walk with God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-12-20

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

This scripture alone, if we really pay attention to it, will convince us that we need to approach our walk with God, and our time in His word, 100% spiritually.

It will also show us that we need to get understanding of things related to our spirit and the Holy Spirit, since it clearly states that the natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God, since they are spiritually discerned.

Very much of what we have written lately has leaned toward or focused on this aspect of learning and getting understanding.

Why?

Because we have entered into a very intense season of spiritual warfare that requires razor-sharp discernment and deeper levels of spiritual understanding than what many of us are accustomed to.

We have all been required to grow during this time. It’s imperative that we not fight it, but let God move us toward what He is doing and expand our knowledge and understanding.

Our intellect and our natural understanding will not carry us through these types of seasons. They will leave us scratching our head and wondering what we are supposed to do, and wondering what so much of what we’re seeing really means.

The scripture above clearly states that our natural man (our intellect) can’t receive (understand or perceive) the things of the Spirit of God because they are foolishness to him.

This is why there has been such a push recently to help bring understanding of the things of the Spirit. And this is why it is so critical for us to let God show us these things.

Many times, when changes that God is ushering in coincide with natural events, it can be confusing to our minds. It can sometimes be hard to separate the two or make sense of it all.

But this is where that sharp discernment comes into play.

When we have sharp discernment, we will more readily recognize the moves of God and we will be able to tell when they are connected to or separated from the events we are seeing around us in the natural.

And even more importantly, when we begin to get a deeper understanding of the things of the Spirit, our walk with God will be much stronger and will flourish, as we learn to hear Him better and learn to obey His promptings more readily.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-1-20

Exodus 19:8 (NKJV) 8 Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” So Moses brought back the words of the people to the Lord.

We cannot trust in ourself to obey God or to be able to do what He asks us to do by our own strength and wisdom. We need to learn to depend on our Helper…the Holy Spirit.

In the verse above, the people of Israel promised to do what God had asked them to do.

Not long after that, when Moses took longer than they expected to come down from Mt. Sinai, they immediately abandoned their promise to God and did what they thought would be best, only to bring corruption on themselves.

Exodus 32:7-8 (NKJV) 7 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. 8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!’ ”

How quickly they turned from what God had commanded them. That is human flesh at its best.

We cannot do what God asks us to do on our own. We need to let Him lead us by His Holy Spirit.

How many believers today struggle with trying to obey God’s word on their own?

This brings so many failures, and is very discouraging at times. It can cause us to want to give up completely when it comes to trying to follow and obey Him.

God gave us His Holy Spirit. Let Him be the Helper He was meant to be.

He will guide us through our daily walk, giving wisdom, discernment and the strength to actually do what is required.

We are not strong enough on our own to fight our fleshly desires and push back the thoughts in our minds. But with the Holy Spirit, we can get it done.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

We need our Helper.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-25-19

Colossians 3:13 (NKJV) 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

Bearing and forgiving are two very hard and challenging things for all believers to work on.

We cannot do this on our own. We need our Helper. If we think we are going to be able to do these kinds of things without the Holy Spirit, we are wrong and very deceived.

We need all that God has for us. His strength. His Wisdom. His understanding and perseverance. It takes more than what we have.

God knew this. And the Holy Spirit was made available to us for our daily walk and the challenges that we face.  We must not only give Him a place in us, but we need to let Him move freely.

John 16:7 (NKJV) 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

Some people may have never heard that they have a Helper, the Holy Spirit. Jesus said He would send Him to us. It’s like someone handing us a wonderful assistant to help us get a job done. But if we don’t let the assistant do their part, we will be stuck in the same dilemma over and over again.

If we are struggling with trying to forgive others or bearing with them, it’s not uncommon. Many Believers do.

Even when we try to be patient and stand with them in their difficult time, we can’t always understand or get past why they do what they do. And because of it they end up in the same predicaments over and over.

If we have a hard time getting past their faults, we are most likely not giving the Holy Spirit room to move, to teach, or to touch those areas in us that need healing, understanding and wisdom.

He has a way of helping us to understand and bring light to any given situation so we can forgive or stand with others, with the right heart.

Holy Spirit, come and teach us, that we may be able to do the things that are beyond our power, thoughts and understanding. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-12-19

1 Corinthians 2:12 (NKJV) 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

There may be many things that we can’t understand about God with our natural minds. This is perfectly normal, since we are carnal and God is spiritual.

As believers, God wants to change that. He wants us to learn to see beyond what our natural eyes can see and understand beyond what our natural minds can comprehend.

Now, that may sound a bit strange to some. After all, we live in a natural world, inside of a natural body of flesh and bone, with a brain made of natural, tangible matter. How can we possibly expect to understand beyond our natural abilities?

Easy. We need to let God teach us to look beyond the natural, into the world behind the scenes; the spiritual world.

God has given us the Holy Spirit, whom He sent to be our Helper.

The Holy Spirit helps us to see and understand the things that our natural mind can’t even begin to fathom. With the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can learn to live by the Spirit 24/7.

And as we grow and mature in living by the Spirit, we will begin to instinctively see past the things right in front of us and see what’s happening behind them.

God has ordained it to be so. It’s part of walking with Him!

Romans 8:14 (NKJV) 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

It may seem strange and foreign to us at first. But, over time, and with effort on our part, we can learn to live by the Spirit, see past the flesh, and get understanding that’s only available to sons and daughters of God.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-4-18

Matthew 16:15-16 (NKJV) 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

He was the Christ, the Son of the living God! He lived among man and He was perfect. He was pure. He was righteous and miraculous in His life here!

The work that was done through Jesus Christ was done solely by the power of the Holy Spirit.

John 1:32 (NKJV) 32 And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.

The Holy Spirit remained upon Jesus throughout His work here on this earth.

It is impossible for any man or woman to minister, in the way God has intended for us, without the anointing of the Holy Spirit. And it is impossible to live the life God has intended for us individually without the Holy Spirit moving through us.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

We need our Helper. We need to be taught, prompted and reminded constantly throughout our day of the things we need to hear, do and say.

Some of us have been trying so hard to get things right. Our hearts are willing, but we keep failing because we lack what it will take to get it done. It takes the Holy Spirit.

Today, ask Him to come and help us in our decisions, in our trials, in our raising and training up of our children, in our ministry and in our everyday walk.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-19-17

Luke 11:13 (NKJV) 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

It’s a fact that we need the Holy Spirit if we want to be guided and led by God. The Holy Spirit is the One who will guide us in all truth.

Here’s an example of how He works in our lives. Someone comes up to us and starts to talk to us. They tell us things, and some of what they are saying may be true. We listen and we think in our minds “they seem legit in what they are saying”.

But, it is the Holy Spirit who helps us to discern things on a deeper level; things we can’t see or know on the surface, including the real motive or agenda behind something.

Without Him and His guidance we can fall for a lot of things that seem right on the surface but are off in some way.

That’s why people, including Christians, go through some of the stuff we go through. If we will let the Holy Spirit guide us, we won’t have to go through some of the trials and problems we experience.

The thing we have to understand is that the Holy Spirit will come when we ask God for Him. And He will move in us, and on our behalf, when we give Him the freedom to do so.

But if we never ask for Him and we don’t give Him room to move, then we can’t expect Him to be able to help us.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-19-15

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

We don’t need to worry or doubt whether or not we are going to do the right thing if we wait on the Holy Spirit and follow His guidance!

Will the things that the Holy Spirit shows us or tells us always line up with what we think should happen? No. But it will line up with the Word of God.

If we ever feel like the Holy Spirit is guiding us and it goes against the Word of God and what the Bible tells us to do, then that is not the Holy Spirit guiding us. He never goes against God’s word, because the Holy Spirit and the Father are ONE.

We need to be alert at all times, for the Holy Spirit is there to help us. We need to be listening and ready at all times.

Receive Him and His help today, in Jesus’ name, and ask Him to guide us in our daily lives and in the decisions we need to make every day. Amen.
