Tag: Bible verses about being a light in a dark world

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-14-24

Matthew 10:16 (NKJV) 16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

We believe that if we are to win any battle over the enemy we must have the wisdom of God, given to us by the Holy Spirit.

Being the one to do the right thing in the face of adversity is what causes the light of Jesus Christ to shine through us.

When we are facing an attack from the enemy, that is the time we need to be strongest.

Being strong doesn’t necessarily mean being physically strong or having all the answers. Sometimes being strong is being wise and gentle, or non-threatening.

We can’t let our anger, nerves and emotions get the best of us while under pressure. How we react in these moments of attack will show people who we are.

John 1:12 (NKJV) 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

We need to handle situations with a “child of God attitude.”

We must take time to seek God for His wisdom in addressing attacks from the enemy. Let us not miss the opportunity to let God teach us how to shine, even when things are dark all around us.

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-11-24

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

As I was sitting at a local community swimming pool recently, I heard some young girls talking.

I was trying not to pay attention to the vulgar language they were using. But hearing it caused me to think about how much things have changed.

Children, teens, and young adults have grown up in a whole different world than I was used to. These times we live in are surely different.

We don’t always know what young ones are going through. And maybe it is sometimes why they carry themselves the way they do.

Is it an excuse for bad behavior, and should we make light of it? absolutely not.

But being a little understanding and patient at times can do wonders.

I have learned that trying to talk with people that are just not ready to hear what we have to say is wasteful.

Did the mom in me want to come out toward the youngsters and address their attitudes and their language? At first, oh yes it did!

But the more I listened, the more I realized they didn’t need a mom, dad or teacher. They needed a light in the darkness. A soft word, a smile, a happy to see you, maybe even a hug.

As harsh as their words were, maybe that was showing me their internal pain, heartache, sorrow, etc. And maybe they needed a gentle touch.

2 Timothy 2:24 (NKJV) 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient…

Sometimes it’s just a really bad day for some. Will we be that vessel to let God’s light shine bright and bring change to that atmosphere?

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-30-23 – How Would They Know?

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus!

We all interact with people daily. There are people around us wherever we go.

On that note, we have a question to ask.

If we did not tell them we are a believer, How Would They Know?

How Would They Know?” is also the title of our newest video, where we teach about the ways that people know we are a child of God without us having to come right out and tell them.

This is a thought-provoking teaching that gives us all reason to be a bit introspective and allow God to teach us some things about ourselves. We hope you will give it a watch!

We hope you will find this video informative and helpful.

We love you!

In today’s video, A Light in The Darkness, we discuss this topic and much more.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-18

Ephesians 5:8-10 (NKJV) 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.

As the apostle Paul continued writing to the Ephesian Christians, he encouraged them to be light to a dark world. He reminded them that they were once darkness, but that God had set them free through Jesus.

Many times, we also need to be reminded of this.

There are two ways that we tend to look back on our past, before we were rescued from our sinful selves by the blood of Jesus and God’s grace.

First, we may look back in shame and guilt.

We can have a tendency to carry our past with us, letting it weigh us down and drag us backwards, away from God. We can get so caught up in the things that we did, and where God has brought us from, that we fail to see who God has made us into and where we are now.

But we need to remember that He has made us brand new in Christ. And when He forgives us of our sins, they are gone forever, removed far from us.

Psalm 103:12 (NKJV) 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Second, we can forget where we came from, and the condition that we were once in.

When this happens, we can sometimes become self-righteous and judgmental of others, completely forgetting that it is only by God’s grace that we have been saved.

We begin looking down our noses at others when we see them committing sins, completely disregarding the fact that we were once in those very same shoes, and we are not saved by our own works or our own righteousness.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

It’s extremely important that we walk as children of light, displaying the fruits of the Spirit (righteousness and truth), learn what is acceptable to God and live this out in our lives.

1 John 1:7 (NKJV) 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-12-18

John 3:19 (NKJV) 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Darkness reveals itself in many ways. One way is by its deeds. Deeds of darkness will be evident to those who see them.

Jesus came to bring light into the world. He was both welcomed and reviled. Those who sought truth and light loved Him and couldn’t get enough of His teachings. They surrendered their hearts and lives to Him.

Those who operated in darkness hated Him and did everything they could to extinguish His light, including having Him scourged and crucified.

And although it may have appeared to some that they won, and His light was snuffed out, He had the final say when He rose from the grave and ascended to heaven, to sit at the right hand of the Father!

As followers of Christ, we should make every effort to walk in the light. Walking in the light speaks loudly as to where we stand. Our deeds are the visible fruit of where our heart lies.

1 John 1:7 (NKJV) 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

And though we will all slip up occasionally and do the wrong thing, those instances shouldn’t be a regular part of our lives. In other words, as we walk and grow with Him, our sins and shortcomings should decrease as we mature as believers. If we’ve been a child of God for a long time, our habits and behaviors should reflect this, not the opposite.

This is, first, a decision that we make. And, second, something that we do, by walking it out.

If the things that we do regularly are more darkness than light, then we need to search our hearts and ask God to show us where our allegiance truly lies. And then ask Him to change our hearts, so we reflect His light.

Are we running from the light and hiding in the darkness, so that our deeds won’t be seen? Or are we running to the light so that we may be cleansed and live our lives in truth and freedom?

It’s up to us. We are the ones who choose.

Choose light and choose life.

Bible Verse of The Day – The Things God Calls Us Into – 8-20-17

Greetings!

At different times of our lives, we walk through certain situations or find our circumstances changing.

Sometimes those situations and circumstances can seem pretty dark and uncomfortable to walk through. They can cause us to look at things in a very negative way.

Our newest video is live, and it deals with this very subject!

Please click here to watch the video now.

When things around us seem dark and hard to handle, we tend to want to run and get away from the pressure. But that’s not necessarily what God wants us to do.

Please click here to watch the video now.

God wants us to learn how to let Him use us in those times, to shine His light in the dark places that so badly need Him.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Be abundantly blessed.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-17

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

When the need for help calls, do we hear it? Are we willing to give up whatever we have going on to reach out? Or does it have to be convenient for us? Does it have to fit in our schedule, time frame or plan?

It’s easy to help when it’s convenient. But, when it’s not convenient and we have to put our things aside, this is when it can be very challenging.

This is when we will have to hold ourselves, our thoughts, our words, our judgments from rising up and being negative about the situation or the person(s) involved.

We have been called to help those who are sick.

Mark 2:17 (NKJV) 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Those that fall down again and again. Those that mess up over and over. Those are the sick. They need someone to stand with them at times. Someone to help shine the light on that dark place within them, that they can’t seem to fight on their own. We can’t give up on them.

There may also be times when God will ask us to pull back in certain situations for whatever reasons, and for however long.

In those moments, we must obey Him, even if we don’t understand it and it looks like we need to help. Sometimes staying out of a situation for a little while can be the help that person or situation needed.

Listen for God’s timing in helping. Stand strong and don’t judge it one way or the other.

Thank God for the opportunity to be a light in a dark place or situation.

Bible verse of The Day – 1-26-16

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Don’t get distracted by the times we’re living in and by what we see happening in this world.

Be alert and be ready. Stay focused, not on those things going on around us, but on things that God has asked us to do. Continue to be a light. Continue to trust God!!

These things that are happening are connected to the coming of our Savior. Oh Praise be to our Mighty Savior!!

He knows and sees what is happening. The timing of it all is in His hands and He will deal with everything accordingly. None of what we see is unknown to Him.

Humbly come to the throne and pray. Look up and keep our eyes and heart steadfastly on Him. He is faithful to save us all.

Press in and keep rejoicing and thanking Him. The lives of the lost shall be saved as we continue to reach out with His love, not letting anything get in our way.

Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) 17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.

No weapon formed against us shall prosper. Even in times like these, God’s light will continue to shine bright and strong through each one of us!!

Be all that He made us to be. We are walking light bulbs on this earth!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-13-15

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

If we follow Jesus we will not walk in darkness. How do we follow Him? By knowing His Word and walking it out in any given situation.

Some of the things He says to do will be hard, but He will help us do them if we surrender ourselves to Him and let Him help.

For instance, He says in Luke 6:28 (NKJV) 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

It’s easy to read this, but to actually walk it out will show us where we need improvement or change.

When reality hits and someone is in our face, screaming and hollering, telling us we are no good, and they can’t stand us, the words, the rejection and the anger will try to cause us to react. It will be up to us at that moment to act in the way God’s Word tells us to.

Our emotions, the hurt, and the pain will all come to the surface and it may cause us to do the wrong thing, even though we know what the right thing is to do.

Don’t get caught up in the emotion of it and give in to darkness. Stay strong, put the feelings aside and walk in the light of life.
