(Mat 4:9 NKJV) And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”
In the verse above, satan is tempting Jesus. He has already tempted Him with other things and then ultimately tries to get Jesus to worship him. Jesus sent him away.
In our own lives, the temptations that come our way aren’t always so blatant and in our face. The enemy never stands in our face and tells us what he’ll give us in exchange for our sin.
Temptation typically comes in more subtle ways, enticing us quietly and seemingly innocent.
But God has given us what we need to discern temptations and walk away from them.
He has given us a conscience and He has given is His spirit. We can never say that we didn’t know something was wrong. Deep down inside, we always know. God has made it that way.
More importantly, He has given us His grace for those times when we do fall.
So be alert and ready for when temptation comes, because it will come. Be ready to send the devil away. And know that if you do stumble and fall into temptation that God is willing to forgive us if we simply ask with a sincere heart.
