Bible Verse of The Day – 9-5-14

Exodus 16:35 (NKJV) 35 And the children of Israel ate manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.

The Israelite’s goal was to reach the promised land. We will all have goals to reach, but there are things to be careful of when trying to reach them.

The Israelites were so focused on getting to the promised land that they missed God’s blessings on the journey. Instead of being thankful, at times they complained.

God fed them manna for forty years. This manna was bread from Heaven.

John 6:31 (NKJV) 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’

That is a huge blessing, and not just for one day but for forty years.

Numbers 11:9 (NKJV) 9 And when the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.

Every night this took place! That’s something to see and be thankful for! But yet their eyes were so focused on the promised land, the end result, that they missed out on the blessings and miracles that God did for them along the way.

One of the things I had to learn was that while trying to reach my God-given goals, that I do not forget to enjoy the journey and the blessing on the way.

Enjoy the journey and celebrate when you reach your goal!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-5-14

(Luke 17:15-18 NKJV)  And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, {16} and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. {17} So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? {18} “Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?”

Giving thanks and glorifying God for what He has done for us, and continues to do for us, means a great deal to Him!

We may think that because He has a whole world to take care of that He may not even notice whether or not we tell Him thank you for the things He may do for us or the things He has already done for us. But He does pay attention to these things. It never get’s old for Him.

We never know. We may start thanking Him in the midst of our storm and healing may come, a financial breakthrough might be released, a family member may be saved, the job opportunity that we have been praying for may open up, etc.

He loves it when we give Him Glory, Honor and Praise!

Being thankful and letting Him know that we know He is the One that will bring forth Victory, that He is the One that will make it possible, makes Him happy.

Take the time we need to today and thank Him! Glorify Him! Oh for HE is Good!!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-14

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV) in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Give Thanks. In Everything.

We’ve talked about this before, but we all need a friendly reminder once in a while.

Being thankful is something that some of us are better at than others. Sometimes we are in situations that make it hard to be thankful. Or at least we think it’s hard.

But most times it’s because we’re looking at things the wrong way. We get caught up in looking at what we don’t have, instead of being thankful for what we do have.

God has told us that in everything we need to give thanks!

So today, we want to encourage every one of you to give thanks, regardless of how bad things might be or might seem. Sometimes the darkest times in our lives can bring the most unexpected deliverances from God, if we just keep our faith intact and remain thankful.

Whether we have little or we have much, give thanks.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-21-14

(1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV)  in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Yesterday I got to spend some time with my grandchildren, 5 & 6 yrs. old. As we were playing, I looked around at their bedrooms. I begin to share with them how God sure did bless them.

I went on to share with them how wonderful it was that they had such beautiful things. I said to them, “look at all your wonderful toys and your beautiful bedrooms, oh how nice mommy and daddy have made it for you. Your house is nice and warm and your kitchen is filled with food. God has blessed you and It blesses me to see such wonderful blessings!”

They both got all excited and started to look around and they too began to add to the list of things that they considered a blessing. I shared with them how they need to always remember to thank God, for without Him we would have nothing and He likes when we give Him thanks.

Take a few minutes today and look around. Find the things that God has blessed us with and just thank Him, for He is GOOD!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-21-13

Numbers 11:5-6 (NKJV) 5 We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; 6 but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!”

While the Israelites were in the desert, God provided for their every need, including their food.

He caused something to rain down onto the ground each night, which they gathered in the morning and made meals from. This substance was called manna.

Every day the Israelites had plenty to eat. They had no worries whatsoever when it came to what they would eat each day.

After some time, though, they began to murmur and complain. They wire tired of eating manna, the food that God chose to provide them with.

Our question for everyone today is this “are we like the Israelites? Do we complain about what we have been blessed with, because we’re tired of it or bored with it?”

Whether we have been blessed with a lot or with a little, there isn’t a single person reading this who hasn’t complained about what they have or what they think they lack. We are as guilty as the Israelites.

As God’s people, we need to seek God’s forgiveness for our selfish ways and self-centeredness. It’s easy to fall into the trap of dissatisfaction, but it’s shameful in the eyes of God, and we all need to repent.

Take some time, right now, while you’re reading this, and thank God for what you have been blessed with.

It’s not wrong to want to better yourself, but it is wrong for us to be ungrateful for the things that we already have.
