Bible Verse of The Day – 3-2-23

1 John 5:12 (NKJV) 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

People who do not put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are only functioning and living by their flesh.

They are surviving by their intellect and a very small part of their hearts. They are very limited in their ability to think, love, grow and understand.

When John says, “they do not have life”, he is talking about those who haven’t put their faith in Jesus Christ. And because of that, their spirit has never come alive. They have not been born again.

They are not truly living the life God has for them, for God is Spirit and He only communes with our spirit. But if we never believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, our spirit will remain dead.

Without our spirit being made alive, we just live by the flesh.

True life begins when we repent, recognize Jesus Christ as God’s Son, and put our faith in Him.

Our spirit comes alive when this takes place.

A new life begins for us as we follow His teachings and obey His steps. We find ourselves surrendering our fleshly understanding and taking on a “spiritual” walk to replace our old, fleshly ways.

The flesh alone will live a worldly lifestyle. But Jesus calls us to come out from among the world and be separate. It’s then that we experience a life that is fulfilling and meaningful.

2 Corinthians 6:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-1-23

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Over the years, I have come to understand how important this really is.

Our faith is the key to every aspect of our walk with God.

It’s critical for us to recognize that this faith is not faith in ourselves. It is not faith in a person, such as a pastor or other church leader.

And it isn’t faith for the sake of having faith.

Our faith must be solely, strongly rooted in God alone.

And it is that kind of faith that is being referred to in the verse above.

It is that kind of faith that will allow us to see God move in our lives. It is that kind of faith that will cause us to see miracles; true miracles that are life changing.

This kind of faith is not meant to be on display on Sunday morning. It is not a mechanism by which we obtain social status.

Jesus mentioned this kind of faith on several occasions. And in all these instances, people experienced miracles. Here is one of them.

Mark 5:34 (NKJV) 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”

On another occasion, a Roman centurion approached Jesus and asked Him to heal his servant but wanted Him to do so without even going to see the person in need of healing.

Jesus was astounded at the man’s great faith!

Matthew 8:10 (NKJV) 10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

It is this kind of faith in Him that God wants us to have; the kind of faith that trusts Him implicitly.

So, we encourage you to seek God. Pursue Him with every fiber of your being, not so you can see miracles, but so you can see Him for who He is; the One who created everything we see. The one who breathed life into our lungs and created the rhythm of our heartbeats.

And, yes, even the One who still does miracles each and every day.

For without faith, it is impossible to please Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-23

1 John 4:2-3 (NKJV) 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

We need to be sure to test the spirit by which words or a message is coming from.

Test the spirit when others speak to us and try and tell us what they think we need to do. Test the spirit, and don’t feel bad to reject the words spoken when we recognize that something isn’t right.

Don’t act on or abide by anything that someone says if it is coming from a spirit of error. We need to make sure that we don’t allow the wrong spirit to guide us.

There is an antichrist spirit that functions in this world we live.

The enemy, or antichrist spirit, brings separation and division not only in church settings, but in families, workplaces, marriages, etc., by using decoys or traps to draw people in subtly, to cause division and strife among us.

When we choose to forgive one another and to love one another,  instead of allowing the division, it can turn these situations around quickly and we will have a very different outcome.

Unity comes when we boot out division and strife, the very thing this spirit feeds on.

Be careful, and don’t fall prey to this antichrist spirit. Let God’s Spirit show us the good and perfect way. For He is righteous and upright!! Amen.

Deuteronomy 32:4 (NKJV) 4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-27-23

Matthew 19:26 (NKJV) 26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

It’s important that we understand how limited our minds are as humans.

And I don’t say that in a way that refers to some crazy new age doctrine or teaching, but only regarding how hard it is for us to truly comprehend the infinite power of God; His omnipotence.

We look at so many things as being impossible. But that’s because our thinking is finite; limited.

It’s human nature to see things solely in the natural, disregarding the invisible; the spiritual side of things where God operates.

God is infinite and unlimited. There is nothing impossible for Him.

He spoke the worlds into existence. He created night and day. He placed the moon, the sun, the stars and all the planets strategically, right where they belonged. None of this is random or by chance.

God can bring sight to the blind. He can bring hearing to the deaf. He can make the mute to speak. He can bring freedom to those who are in bondage. And He can raise the dead to life again.

He can heal the sick who have been told they are incurable. He can save the ones who are viewed as unsavable. He can forgive those who most people view as unforgivable.

We need to begin seeing through eyes that see with the help of God’s Spirit, not just with our natural understanding.

We need to allow God to teach us how to let go of our natural inclinations and ideas and learn to allow Him to teach us to let the Holy Spirit truly guide our perceptions, our thoughts, our understanding and our actions.

Only then will we understand the power of God and see Him move in and through us.

We need to set God free to rule and reign in our lives. We need to surrender to Him in ways that we have never been courageous enough to do before.

If we allow it to, this will change our lives immensely. In fact, if we really give God the freedom to carry this out in our lives, it has the power to turn our lives upside down.

Let’s do things differently. Let’s live life turned upside down, with God as our navigator.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-25-23

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

What have we been called to do as God’s children? Shine bright!

When we are on the right path, shining is easy. But what if we slip up?

And just let me say, we do slip sometimes.

Can we lose our shine forever?

When we are messing with the wrong thing, we can definitely dull that shine. The light that is in us will be unnoticeable. It will be tainted with sin. And sin is dark.

If we are following Jesus, we have the Light of life living in us. This Light of life is what causes us to shine. We have to be the one to make a conscious effort to keep that light shining by doing the right things.

If we are hesitant in our decision, it can be very easy for the enemy to push the wrong things on us, and we will fall for it and find ourselves thinking, “what did I just do?”.

We have to know quickly in our hearts, and then turn from or resist the devil with the help of the Holy Spirit.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Maybe we have made some wrong decisions in our life and we are paying for it big time. But that does not mean we need to stay there.

We can come back up and gain respect and trust when we decide we will try our best to do what’s right next time around.

If we take the steps to repent and follow Jesus Christ, His light of life in us will shine again! Amen.

Bible Verse of the Day – 2-24-23

Galatians 2:11 (NJKV) 11 Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed;

As Paul penned these words, he did so with great concern.

He had learned that Peter, who had been sent to the Jews to bring them the gospel of Christ, had fallen to peer pressure and was now telling new Christians that they must be circumcised, as was the Jewish tradition.

This undermined the entire foundation of the gospel, insinuating that God’s grace was not enough, and that new believers had to fall back to Jewish traditions to be saved.

This was a grave perversion of the truth.

Paul found it necessary to confront Peter and correct Him, exposing his hypocrisy before all who were present, making it clear that traditions were not required.

Peter had, in fact, been living as a Gentile (despite being a Jew), walking in the freedoms of Christ prior to being swayed by the pressures of some of the Jews who finally persuaded him.

Galatians 2:14 (NKJV) 14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?

Paul went on to warn Peter and the others that man is not justified (declared righteous) by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ. And that by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

We are saved purely by faith in Christ.

It’s important that we not mix works, rituals and traditions with our faith, mistaking these things as being required for our salvation.

Yes, works are important, but only as an outward expression of our faith. Not as something that we must do to make ourselves holy or righteous (justified) in God’s eyes.

As for traditions and rituals? These are purely man-made and not required or useful in our walk with God.

God wants our hearts, plain and simple. So, let’s give Him what he asks for.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-23-23

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 pray without ceasing…

Most times when we pray, we ask God for the things we need or the things others are in need of. Then, when we are done praying for those things, we tend to be finished with our prayer time.

But did it ever cross our minds that maybe there is so much more to pray for, things we never thought of or could know without God-given wisdom or Holy Spirit leading?

Did we ever think to ask God if He had anything specific that He would like us to pray through and agree with Him on?

Maybe God Himself has some very important and critical things that He would like us to pray through. These things aren’t anything we would know about unless He directly lays them on our heart.

The question is, do we ask Him, “Lord, what is it you would like us to pray for today?”.

Take time today and ask Him, “is there something Lord, or someone you know of that needs prayer?”.

Give Him some time to show us and guide us in our prayer time.

When God guides our prayer time it will be more meaningful. Things will get accomplished, and we will know that when we pray, we are praying for the things of God to come. His will be done!

Matthew 6:10 (NKJV) 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-22-23

Ephesians 2:1-2 (NKJV) 1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience…

You and I are the same. We are kindred in one thing; we have been made alive in Christ, saved by His grace and redeemed by the blood of Christ.

We once walked according to the flesh, being directed and led by the prince of the power of the air; the devil.

We were sons and daughters of disobedience.

But God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive in Christ. We have been saved by His grace.

Ephesians 2:4-5 (NKJV) 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

We are no longer dead in our sins but made fully alive in Him.

We were not saved by anything we did. We were not saved by our own efforts to please God or make ourselves righteous; our works.

We were saved by grace, through faith.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

We were not required to follow The Mosaic Law. We were not required to offer God a blood sacrifice. We were not required to go through Old Testament cleansing rituals.

We were required only to recognize our lost, sinful state, to repent of our sins, ask Him to forgive us and then put our faith in Christ as the Savior.

Jesus paid the price for you and for me. His blood washed us clean; white as snow.

For He was spotless and pure, like no other man who has ever walked the earth.

And now we walk with Him, letting Him teach us, guide us, shape us and mold us into who He wants us to be, leaving our old self behind, a distant memory.

And I’m glad to share this walk with you, my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-21-23

1 John 4:12 (NKJV) 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

If we are born again, we will love other believers. Our new birth will be evidenced through our conduct and behavior.

But learning how to love like this takes time. We have to be willing to deny ourselves of our own wants on behalf of others.

We have to be disciplined.

We will face new situations daily and will need to learn how to handle them according to the leading of God’s Spirit.

We have to have a strong desire to willingly want to walk out this love that God talks about in this verse by praying more for those people who do things that get to us, concern us and are disturbing to us.

We have to learn to take them to God first without complaining or talking about them to others.

This love will cause us to stick things out and push through uncomfortable situations or places that we can’t stand to be in or around, letting God teach us how we can be productive in sharing His perfect love.

As we walk in such love we will find ourselves at a breaking point regarding our flesh, allowing it to be ruled by the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:1 (NKJV) 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

When we step aside in our flesh, letting the Spirit of God show us how to handle certain situations, it’s then that people will see God’s love strongly moving through us.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-20-23

John 19:30 (NKJV) 30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

It is finished.

These words represented the completion of everything that Jesus did. And they summed up what God intended to do by sending Christ to earth; to offer mankind redemption through His blood.

We need only to accept the gift and apply it to ourselves as individuals.

In that phrase, “it is finished”, there is something else we need to consider.

God was not obligated to offer His son as a redemptive sacrifice for our sins. But He did it anyway.

Additionally, God is also not obligated to do anything further for us.

Let me explain.

You see, despite what many believers think, God is not obligated to do things for us. He is not obligated to supply our needs. He is not obligated to answer our prayers.

And we could go on to create a lengthy list of other things that we think God is obligated to do, but He really isn’t.

Yet, despite this, He does these things for us anyway!

Why?

Because He is faithful, loving, merciful and compassionate. And He loves us beyond our wildest imaginations.

Yes, He is holy and righteous. Yes, He hates sin. And, yes, He will show His anger at times.

But He wants us, you and me, to know His love. So, He does all the things that He is not obligated to do.

We can’t get confused about this, though. He is not our piggybank or our genie in a bottle, standing by waiting to grant our latest wish or desire.

He is not our ATM, standing by waiting to dole out finances simply because we ask for them.

He is God; pure holy, sovereign, and high above everything else. It’s important that we understand that.

He wants our whole heart. He wants our dedication. He wants our obedience.

He wants us to look to Him, not as our God who is obligated to do everything we want Him to do, but as our God who loves us so much that He chooses to do what He is not obligated to do.

So, let’s be sure to give Him our whole heart, our dedication and our obedience, and learn to love Him for who He is, not for what He can do for us.
