Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-23

Deuteronomy 32:4 (NKJV) 4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.

People may say, “how can we trust God?”. I ask, “how can we not?”.

There are two Hebrew words which are translated as ‘rock’ in English; Tsur and Sela. Both of the words denote more than just a rock. These both indicate a large immoveable cliff or boulder, sharp and strong, mighty.

When most people think of a rock, they think of it being strong, solid and unchanging.

2 Samuel 22:2 (NKJV) 2 And he said: “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer…

David called God his rock, fortress and deliverer because God enabled him to subdue his enemies and gave him victories in battles.

In this life we live, if we say we trust someone it’s because they have proven to us somehow that we can trust them. They usually have done something for us, or we have known them in such a way that we trust them in what they say or do.

If we don’t trust God, is it maybe because we don’t know Him?

How do we get to a point where we trust God?

We learn about Him, like anyone else we trust.

We watch, we listen, we observe. We will reach a place in our heart where we will say, “yes Lord, I trust You”.

It’s a decision that takes place in our heart.

He is perfect. He is just. He is a God of truth. He is righteous and upright.

Let Him show Himself to us in our personal walk with Him.

1 Samuel 2:2 (NKJV) 2 “No one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-23

2 Timothy 4:7 (NKJV) 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

As Paul exhorted Timothy to be strong in his faith, he warned Timothy of things to come.

He told of false teachers, people who would flock to those false teachers, etc. And he warned Timothy to be watchful, endure afflictions, and be prepared to preach the word under any circumstance.

Then, in verse 7, above, he penned these well-known words. Some might view those words as a summary of sorts, where Paul simply reassured Timothy that he himself had been diligent in his work for the kingdom of God.

While it is indeed that, it is also much more.

If we look at that verse closely, we will see that Paul is giving us a list of things that are necessary in our walk with God.

He fought the good fight.

Paul faced many adversaries and many harsh situations after he became a follower of Christ. His life was anything but easy. And yet, he persevered, never abandoning his call.

He finished the race.

No matter what Paul faced, he stayed the course. He never surrendered. He never turned his back on God.

He kept the faith.

Paul’s faith never faltered. In fact, one might say that as he forged ahead through all the difficulties he faced in his lifetime, his faith likely grew stronger as he saw God move in so many ways.

That faith ultimately cost him his life. But Paul never gave up the fight. He was faithful to the very end.

Likewise, we should use Paul’s life as an example.

How do we do that?

We fight the good fight. We finish the race. We keep the faith.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-23

Revelation 2:4 (NKJV) 4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

As I was having my devotional time this morning, I felt God speaking to me regarding this verse; that the church on a large scale has left Him, their first love.

It has simply allowed things to come in and take our time and loyalty away from Him. These things have gripped us enough to put us in a place of rebellion.

Isn’t it just like the enemy to tempt us with all kinds of little things we may love, just to distract us and take away the time we’ve devoted to God?

As Jesus speaks these words to John regarding the church, He is definitely bringing correction, stating that they have completely left Him.

This is not a little thing. It affects us all. As we can see, it happened to the church then and it is happening to the church now.

He is calling His children into repentance. He is chastening us and drawing us close. Thank God for that!

Hebrews 12:6 (NKJV) 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens And scourges every son whom He receives.”

Stay focused. Embrace His correction in our personal lives. Know that He will chasten those He loves.

Revelation 2:7 (NKJV) 7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-31-23

2 Samuel 22:7 (NKJV) 7 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered His ears.

Life has a funny way of shaking us up when we least expect it.

We can be cruising along with no worries, and then something unexpected comes along and changes everything in a split second.

It happens to all of us. Not even one of us is exempt.

When this happens, what do we do? How do we handle it?

That’s the million-dollar question!

Sudden changes can be stressful to our human minds. We are creatures of habit, and we like it when things are steady and stable.

But despite our love for stability, sometimes a good shake-up is beneficial, even though we might not think so at the time.

Our initial reaction to such shakeups is typically fear, feelings of uncertainty, frustration, and many times even anger.

But it’s important that we not allow those emotions to dominate us or drive our decision-making processes.

Instead, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to walk us through the changes and show us how to handle them. As we do this, and we stay calm, we will begin to feel God’s peace come over us, taking the fear and anxiety away.

Many times, God will use these types of situations to show Himself and teach us valuable lessons.

And God tells us that these kinds of situations will cause us to grow stronger in many areas of our lives.

Romans 5:3-4 (NKJV) 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

So, if you’re currently facing a life-changing trial, or something that has happened suddenly and has turned your life upside down, be sure to be guided by the Holy Spirit, not by your emotions.

In your distress, cry out to God. He will hear your voice, and your cry will enter His ears. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-30-23

1 Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV) 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

I feel like today God wants me to speak to the women out there who read this.

You are making a difference.

Even if you may not see the results of everything that you do, your touch is so important.

It’s important to your spouse, who needs you more than you know. Maybe he can’t tell you for whatever reason, but I’m telling you today!

He needs your voice. He needs your touch, and he needs your love. He needs your understanding. He needs the balance that you bring to the relationship.

It’s important to your children.

They need your loving arms, your warmth, the firmness in your voice.

Yes, they absolutely need you to drive your point home at times, even if they might not like it at that moment. And for some it may take speaking it repeatedly.

You may cry from fatigue, from loneliness, from not feeling good enough. You may think you are the worst at this job at times.

But the day will come when the tears turn to laughter. It will all be worth it!

You’re important to your place of work. They need you!

They need you and the performance you provide for them.

You are doing a great job, even if they don’t give you what you are really worth. Keep it up, be diligent and don’t let them crush you with harsh words and bad attitudes.

Push through, and know that you carry a spirit of excellence in you, and you can’t help but to do well in all that you touch every day.

You could be struggling today in a bad way.

Your heart is tired from giving so much and not being rewarded with a single “thank you”, a simple hug, or maybe flowers or your favorite meal.

But on this day, whatever day it is that you get this email, God wants desperately for you to know.

By His grace, you are who you are! You labor more abundantly than all of them by the grace of God that is within YOU!

Know that He loves you.

He hugs you with His loving arms right now and He says, “you will laugh, you will dance again, and you will see the fruits of your labor. Don’t give up. Stand up and keep going. You are my princess, and in Me you have what it takes to finish this race”.

2 Timothy 4:7 (NKJV) 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-29-23

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Learning not to lean on our own understanding is a big deal.

As we are growing up, we learn lots of things.

We go to school, and we are taught how to figure things out. We learn how to calculate things. We learn how to understand certain things. We learn how to think for ourselves and solve problems.

It all revolves around human intellect and human understanding. And this is good. We all need to learn these kinds of things.

But this should not be the end of our learning.

There is another kind of learning that is even more important.

It is learning to trust God in everything that comes our way, even when we might not understand things.

We may not understand why certain things happen. We may not understand the timing of things that happen. And we might not understand how to navigate those things that happen in the proper way.

This is where our trust in God comes in.

We need to learn to trust Him when nothing makes sense.

And we even need to trust Him when what He is showing us doesn’t make sense.

Why?

Because His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV) 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

This is a lesson that He has taught me repeatedly throughout my walk with Him.

And how do we learn this? How do we walk this out?

By putting Him first in everything we do and giving Him precedence even in our thoughts.

As we do this, we will see Him move in our lives, and our faith in Him will grow exponentially.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-23

1 Samuel 12:24 (NKJV) 24 Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.

Serve Him with all our heart. How does one come to serve the Lord in truth with all our heart?

We simply say, “yes”, to His will, versus following ours.

Yes, to all the things He teaches us to do through His Word. Yes to His promptings. We say, yes to submitting the littlest or biggest things He may be asking us to give up.

It’s in the heart where the things of this world will try to grip us. Those things will have to be eliminated from our lives if we want to be able to serve Him in truth with all of our hearts.

There will be some hard sacrifices that we will have to make at times. But, just as this verse states, consider what great things He has already done for us.

We will be ever so grateful when we consider and ponder on the fact that He has set us free!

No more chains, no more shackles. We are not in bondage or slaves to anyone or anything. We simply walk in this freedom He has given to each one of us!

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Let’s serve Him in truth today with all our hearts. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-23

1 Samuel 18:9 (NLT) 9 So from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David.

Jealousy can wreak havoc with our lives if we don’t see it and put a stop to it.

Jealousy is not limited to any specific type of person or situation. It can hit any of us.

Jealousy that is not checked and stopped will cause us to do some terrible things and make very poor choices that can have lifelong impacts on our lives and the lives of others.

Saul was Israel’s king. He had been anointed as king by Samuel, Israel’s prophet and judge of that time.

Sadly, it didn’t take long for Saul to disobey God. This caused God to reject him as king.

Saul was Israel’s king for forty years. David was part of Saul’s army for much of that time, as well as a servant to Saul in other ways.

To say that David was an important part of Saul’s reign would be an understatement.

But as David’s popularity grew with the people, Saul’s jealousy of David also grew. So, Saul pledged to kill David.

And as his jealousy increased, his behavior became more erratic, and he became consumed with rage.

This jealousy destroyed Saul and his reign as Israel’s king.

You and I are no different. Jealousy can destroy us too.

And the funny thing about jealousy is that it can creep in or show up in some really subtle ways, so we need to be diligent to shut it down as soon as we spot it.

But no matter how subtle it may try to be, we usually know when it’s happening even if we try to pretend that we don’t.

As we can see in Saul’s life, jealousy left a trail of destruction in its wake, along with some major scars on the life of Saul and those around him.

Let us not be like Saul. But instead, let us be vigilant and sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit so as not to fall prey to this terrible thing called jealousy.

May we humbly submit ourselves to God’s leading, His warnings and His chastening, that we never let jealousy overtake us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-25-23

Psalm 91:1 (NKJV) 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

We are so blessed as His child. There is protection under the shadow of the Almighty!

We may be thinking of all the things that are coming against us right now. Maybe we are drained, lost and confused, trying to live in this world. Nothing is making sense to our heads.

Look up and know that if you are a child of God, you are in the shadow of the Mosh High. You don’t need to fret, try to make sense of what’s happening or worry about anything.

You may say, “but everything is so different than what I am used to. Many things have changed and I’ve lost so much. I still can’t wrap my head around the change. My thoughts keep running back to the past, keeping me from entering the future. I don’t even care about things the way I used to”.

Get to that secret place today. Let God cover you and help you to sort everything out. Don’t stay in the state of confusion and depression.

He will lead you and great shall be His peace.

Isaiah 54:13 (NKJV) 13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children.

Thank you, God, for that secret place with You!
