Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-14-12

(Rev 3:15-16 NKJV)  “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. {16} “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

When Jesus spoke these words, He was referring to the church at Laodicea. These words are still relevant for us today, however.

Being lukewarm or a “middle-of-the-road” believer is a very dangerous place to be. Jesus wants our all or nothing at all.

This isn’t a message that many want to hear, but it needs to be shared and taught. Being lukewarm is the easy way to follow Christ, or so it would seem. But the cost of being lukewarm is much higher than giving Him everything!

If we choose to live a lukewarm or mediocre life with Christ, we risk having Him spit us out.

Where are we today? Are we giving Jesus our all, or does He only get a little piece of us, when it’s convenient for us?

For our own sake, we need to give this some very serious consideration and then take action if we find ourselves lacking in our walk with Him.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-13-12

(Lam 3:22-23 NKJV)  Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. {23} They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

God’s mercies are new every morning!!

Do you know what that means for us? Every is a new day with God, fresh and clean, with none of yesterday’s sins staring us in the face!

We’ve talked about this verse before, but we still like to touch on it every once in a while. It’s a reminder for all of us and maybe as a new lesson for anyone who is new to the Daily Bible Verse.

Here’s the little illustration that we like to use: Each day is like a new, clean, white sheet of paper. At the end of the day, what’s on that sheet of paper is up to us. It can be full of good things or it can be full of bad things, or even a combination of both. We are responsible for the story that’s written on that piece of paper each day.

But every single morning, God gives us a brand new sheet of paper, to give us a new chance! No matter what we did yesterday, today is a brand new day, with His mercy covering our lives.

No matter what mistakes you made yesterday, ask God to forgive you and then move forward, looking forward to what He has for you today.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-11-12

(Psa 18:3 NKJV)  I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

I love the fact that we can call on the Lord and He will save us from our enemies. We don’t have to try to fix everything ourselves, or get anyone else involved unless God directs us and opens a door.

Sometimes we can spend a lot of time and energy talking about what so-and-so is doing to us, when all we really need is to call upon the Lord and let it go. The talking and pondering on what our enemy has done or is trying to do can cause us to be worn out and tired. It can distract us from the things we should be doing.

God’s Words can be so simple but yet so full of Wisdom that we can miss the important things at times because we are looking for some deep teaching.

If you are in a difficult situation and everything seems to be coming against you today just as His Word says, open up and call upon the Lord…let Him save you from your enemy.

God is so faithful!

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-10-12

(Prov 12:11 NKJV)  He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread, But he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding.

Have you ever wondered how some people can fall so easily for scams that offer quick riches and a life of leisure, without having to do any work?

Most times, these people are frivolous with their money and are looking for a quick easy way to get rich. The sad part is that they don’t want to have to work for what they get.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having wealth, but God’s word teaches us over and over again that we are to work for what we have, not gain it by ill means.

If we “till our land”… work hard, diligently, and follow God’s leading, He will lead us to success and we will reap the fruits of our labors.

The world is full of scams promising quick riches. Heed God’s word and pay attention to what He teaches, and you’ll never be a victim.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-9-12

(Prov 10:12 NKJV)  Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.

God has really been driving this point home with me recently… that LOVE wins.

Regardless of what someone does to us, or how frustrated we get with people when they offend us, reacting with hatred or harshness will only make things worse.

Even in those times when we need to address something that someone might have done to us, it always pays to speak with love and humility, not anger and harsh words.

Now… loving people doesn’t always mean that we have to hug them or fall all over them, but it does mean that we avoid being harsh to them.

Love has a way of disarming people and bringing calm to volatile situations.

It’s not always the easiest thing to do, but God’s word is true and His ways do work.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-8-12

(James 5:12 NKJV)  But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes,” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment.

As I was doing some things around the house this evening I was pondering on some things that were bothering me a little bit. I ran these things through my mind over and over again, trying to make sense of them.

To be honest with you, I was never able to make sense of it. I find this happening a lot when it comes to trying to figure out why human beings do some of the things that they do. Some of these things can be very hurtful, whether it is intentional or not.

The thing that I’m referring to here is when people say they’re going to do something, but they never bother to follow through. I’m sure we’ve all had people tell us that they’re going to do something for us and then it never happens.

I’ve had this happen with both, Christians and non-Christians. Coming from unbelievers, I can maybe understand it a little, tiny bit better. But when it comes to children of God, our word should mean something.

James tells us to let our “yes be yes” and our “no be no”. Quite simply put, if we say something, we need to mean what we say and then we need to put action behind our words and follow through. Otherwise, our words are empty and meaningless.

Take some time today and think back. Ask God if maybe you’ve told someone that you were going to do something for them, but have forgotten to follow through. And then, let’s make these things right. You’ll never know how much it might mean to someone.

More importantly, it will honor God and bring glory to Him!

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-7-12

(Mat 18:21-22 NKJV) Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” {22} Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

OUCH!  In other words there is NO room in our hearts for harboring unforgiveness.

We can’t take this lightly. It is something that God points out very clearly. (Luke 6:37 NKJV)  “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

I don’t think we realize the danger in not forgiving someone. (Mat 18:34-35 NKJV) “And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. {35} “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

One day,  I was counseling someone, this person drank and drank to hide her pain that she had in her heart. I asked her one time during one of our talks if she wanted to pray. She said “I don’t know how to pray”. I said it’s easy, just like you’re talking to me now, you can talk to God. So she began telling God how she felt, and the more she talked, it all came out; every little feeling she had came out.

She was suffering deep inside from something terrible her very own brother did to her as a child. It was something no one knew about but her. She carried this for years. But on this day, she spilled it out and left it with God!

She forgave her brother for what he did to her, as hard as it was, and from that day she was on a better road. Praise be to God, she forgave and her life was changed after that. There were better days ahead for her!!

The longer we hold onto unforgiveness, the more space it takes up in our heart. God wants our whole heart!!

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-6-12

(Mark 12:41-44 NKJV)  Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. {42} Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. {43} So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; {44} “for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

We very often have people ask us how they can give of their finances when it seems that they don’t have anything to give.

Most times this is related to a situation where the person has very little because they have been through a hardship or tough financial situation. Most often, people say that they can’t afford to give.

Speaking from a Biblical perspective, we can’t afford not to give.

Giving is the key to receiving. This is a Biblical truth. Fruit can only come when seeds are sown. Whatever we sow, we will reap. If we don’t give, we can’t expect to receive. If we sow a little, we will reap a little.

How our giving is perceived is based on our abundance, or lack of it. If we have been financially blessed, we need to sow big seeds. If we are in a tough time, we will sow smaller seeds. But the key is that we still need to be sowing.

Giving out of our need is the biggest sacrifice we can make. Jesus drew attention to this when the widow gave a small amount because it’s a truth that needed to be made known. What she gave might have been small compared to what the rich men gave. But what she gave was huge for her in light of her situation.

So if you’re struggling with your finances today, don’t ask God how you can afford to give. Ask Him how much you need to give.

Trust Him in this.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-4-12

(2 John 1:6 NKJV) This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
God’s love is in us as we receive Him into our lives. It’s up to us to let Him change us inside so that we can let it out to show those around us and to experience the JOY that comes from it!!

Walking in it is simply letting Him change us and sharing it with others. Even though Christ is in us it doesn’t mean people can see Him or sense Him. It’s up to us to let Him, the LOVE, out. It’s up to us to let Him train us and teach us How to walk in His commandments and SHINE!!

The commandments that God gave to us are for our own good and to help others as well. Understanding this will allow us to get more serious and really pay attention to them, and apply them to our daily walk.

We say daily because applying them at times in certain situations can be very, very challenging. But, with His Spirit in us and as we lean on Him for His strength, understanding, and wisdom it will be life changing for us and for those around us.

Enjoy God’s love and share it with others, by walking it out.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-3-12

(Eph 6:12 NKJV)  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

As we go through life and face many trials and struggles, it’s critical for us to understand that much of the negative stuff that happens in our lives is not due to simple human behavior but is directly related, instead, to spiritual battles taking place behind the scenes.

Although we live in a natural world, where much of what we do is based on our five senses (seeing, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting), there is a whole world that we never physically see, that plays a huge part in what goes on around us, and even in our own lives.

There is a constant battle that is going on behind the scenes, in the spiritual realm. It’s what was here before the earth. It is made up of angels and demons. The carnal person will know and understand nothing of this realm, but children of God need to know and understand this.

Now let me speak bluntly for a moment. There is much that we struggle with as humans that we try to explain away as purely physical. But much of this is purely spiritual. Many incidents, situations and circumstances in our lives and the lives of those around us are a direct result of spiritual attacks. God’s word is clear about this, as in the scripture above.

As children of God, we need to develop a sharp sense for spiritual warfare and a sharp discernment, to recognize these attacks, in order to be able to combat them effectively. God has sufficiently equipped us to do battle and have victory.

We just need to do the training and hone our skills, in order to be effective warriors.

More to come on this in the coming days… stay tuned.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-2-12

(Rom 8:38-39 NKJV)  For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, {39} nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

During the past 48 hours we have received a steady stream of incoming emails with testimonies from hundreds of people, sharing how God is working in their lives through the Daily Bible verse.

We have been in awe at the testimonies shared. Many times, as we read them, tears flowed down our faces in light of the wonders of God and the love that was poured out toward us. We were truly touched.

Included in some of the emails were some very serious prayer requests. Some of you who wrote had been through or are going through some very desperate situations and circumstances. Some were distraught and even bordering on depression.

We have prayed over these requests and we are believing with you that God will give you victory in your situations, and in your lives as a whole. No matter how bad things might seem, God is never far off.

There is nothing in this life that can separate us from His love. NOTHING! So when things seem dismal and you feel like you have nowhere to turn and no options left, simply cry out to Him and cling to Him.

Don’t let hell’s demons convince you that this life isn’t worth living or that God has abandoned you. These are lies straight from the pit of hell. Pick yourself up by the strength of God, stare the enemy straight in the face and tell him to leave, in the name of Jesus.

Never, ever consider taking your own life and never, ever give up on God. No matter what comes our way, He gives us hope and strength. We just need to grab hold of it.
