Bible Verse of The Day – 8-13-12

(Gen 2:24 NKJV)  Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Being one in a lot of areas means being together and in agreement.

It means functioning and operating with similar ideas and understanding, which leads to having the same vision! It doesn’t mean there is only one way to accomplish a goal, but it means there is an agreement amongst each person involved.

Being one is AWESOME! The Bible says The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are One (1 John 5:7 NKJV)  For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

Being one takes work, whether in a marriage, a family, a business, a church, etc. You have to learn to walk in oneness. You have to be able to compromise. You have to be patient and you have to be willing to compromise. But there are very big rewards for working hard at being in unity. It brings prosperity, advancement, and victory!

This is why the devil, our enemy, loves to bring division to anything that he can. Let’s use Marriage as an example. He will use things like unfaithfulness, pornography, drugs, alcohol, spousal abuse, etc.

What is the first thing these things do to a marriage? They cause separation or division between the husband and the wife. They cause arguments and disagreements. The unity that was once there begins to wither away. Something that was so strong in the beginning can crumble away when you lose the unity.

If this pertains to you today, focus on trying to get the unity back into your situation. Find something you can agree on, even if it is simply to ask God for help with getting the unity back.

We are believing with you for a great turn around to come in your marriage, your family, your business, your relationships and your church today as you begin to bring unity back in!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-11-12

(Job 2:9 NKJV)  Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity?  Curse God and die!”

There are two kinds of people in life who you can surround yourself with. One kind will encourage you and help you, no matter what you’re going through. The other kind will be like Job’s wife… telling you to throw in the towel, curse God and die!

Hmm… Which kind of people would you rather have around you when you’re going through a trial or a crisis?

We can choose, you know. We don’t have to let the negative people hang on us and fill our atmosphere with their negativity!! It’s not always easy to get away from them, or to keep them away from us, but when we’re in a tough situation the last thing we need is people whispering negative comments in our ears.

This doesn’t mean that we should immediately set about giving our negative friends the boot and leaving them in the dust, but it does mean that we should be a little pickier about how much time we spend with the people who tend to be more negative when we’re in need of encouragement.

So if you’re going through a tough time, take inventory of who you’re spending time with and who is speaking into your life. Weed out those who seem to bring you down and sped less time with them. Let God bring more positive people into your midst.

Even Jesus kicked the doubters out when he was about to perform miracles. Maybe we should learn from His example!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-10-12

(2 Cor 5:7 NKJV)  For we walk by faith, not by sight.

What is it that we want in life but can’t see happening in the natural? Don’t let this stop us or discourage us, no matter how young or old we are.

How far do we want to go in our walk with Christ? What would we like to achieve in our job situation? What do we want to achieve in our finances? What do we want to achieve in our relationship with our spouse and/or children, etc.?

The first thing we must do is to be prayerful and ask God what it is we need to do to make it possible, to reach the place or level God may want us to be in any area of our life.

The second thing is to make sure we are staying focused on what He has for us to do. Take it seriously, for it is serous to Him.

The third thing, which is very important and can often get overlooked, is to be praising and thanking Him for His clarity and direction before we see any signs or changes!

If we take these 3 steps and are sincere in our hearts with Him, we will start to see results; we will start to see change and we will never want to go back to doing things the way we used to do them.

Now, when the change comes we have to be careful not to pull out and neglect to follow through all the way with what God asked of us. Many times we start out all gung ho, then we start to see the results and the next thing we know we lose focus and get distracted and we never get to see the end results of God’s faithfulness!!

Stay with Him, don’t let up, and stay focused!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-9-12

(Rom 16:24 NKJV)  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

The grace of Jesus is what sets us free and gives us peace in our lives.

As you go through your day today, do so knowing that God’s grace is like a protective shield for you. It’s the bridge that closes the gap between God and man. It’s the door that opens for us to obtain salvation for our souls and forgiveness for our sins.

If it was not for the grace of God, where would any of us be? There’s no telling. Our lives would be so vastly different, wouldn’t they?

I sometimes think about where I might be right now if it wasn’t for God’s grace and the truth of this makes me shake my head, because I know it would not be good.

Take a moment right now and thank God for His grace and mercy. He is awesome, isn’t He?

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-8-12

(Rom 6:1-2 NKJV)  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? {2} Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

A couple of days ago we talked about sin and how we tend to categorize it and wrongly classify some sins as being worse than others. We then talked about how we are to love the sinner, even while hating the sin.

Today we’d like to look at this topic from the angle of the believer, not the unsaved.

As with looking at the unsaved, we as believers tend to look at ourselves and each other and lump sins into certain categories and then label them as being bad, not so bad or maybe only minor. As with the unsaved, this is completely false.

Being born again children of God doesn’t negate the consequences of sin in our lives or make it any less of a sin just because we’re saved! Sin is still sin and we need to continue to recognize it in our own lives and the damage that it can do when it goes unchecked or it gets covered up.

Adultery, fornication, thievery, lying and so many other sins committed by believers are still just as bad as those committed by unbelievers! We are no better than any other sinner. We just happen to know the One who forgives us if we ask Him,

This isn’t a “happy topic”, but it’s a necessary one. And if we ask God to help us get things right in our lives, we will be happier in the long run.

He is faithful to show us where we need to make changes and then help us to make those changes. Let’s ask Him to help us clean up our lives and stay on the path of righteousness.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-7-12

(2 John 1:6 NKJV)  This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

How do we show God that we really love Him? We can tell Him all day long how much we love Him. But along with telling Him, we must show Him by following His commandments.

Is it going to be easy to follow His commandments? No; some days it is very hard. Some days we try hard and all it takes is a bad driver in front of us on the way to work or getting someone with a bad attitude at the check out register etc. There are all kinds of things that try to creep in to get us to disobey God and break His commandments.

But the good news is that just as there is something bad trying to get us off on the wrong track, there are good things to find too, if we just look and listen.

This morning I was out and about, getting some errands done. It was one of those mornings where I was just focused on what I needed to get done. The lady at the bank drive-through window tells me the total dollar amount on my deposit is way off. In other words, she was telling me I made a math mistake. She wanted to know if I had another check or something in my car that I forgot to put it with the rest I told her “no, you have everything there…maybe I calculated wrong?” A few minutes went by and I added up in my head what I gave her and sure enough I was right. I hit the call button at the window; she didn’t answer. So I hit it again, no answer. Finally she spoke to me and said “you were absolutely right with your adding, but I don’t know why I kept adding up the deposit wrong”.

I realized she was having one of those days and instead of me getting mad and impatient,  I needed to give her some encouragement. She said, have a nice day and I’m sorry for the confusion.  I went out of my way to make sure she knew that it was not a problem and I thanked her for efforts.

I truly believe that at times we are being tested and that we need to pass those tests if we want to build that muscle of love that God is trying to strengthen in us.

God commands us to love. A good way to start loving others is to ask God each day to teach us how to love the way He loves.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-6-12

(1 Tim 1:8-10 NKJV)  But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, {9} knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, {10} for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine…

As we read the list of sins in the verses above, we need to note that none of them is categorized or classified as being worse than any of the others. Not a single one is labeled as “the worst” or “the least”. Sin is sin.

As humans we have a tendency to put labels or categories on sin, making one type of sin seem more evil than another type. But God doesn’t see it that way. Whether we steal a roll of tape from our employer or rob a bank, it is thievery.

Whether we tell a “small white lie” or a huge lie, we are a liar. It doesn’t matter whether we commit a sin that seems more acceptable to man or a sin that seems horrendous; it’s still sin in God’s eyes. Any of them will separate us from God and every single one of them puts us in the category of a sinner!

But God loves us in spite of our sin. And so we need also to love the sinner. It doesn’t matter if their sin is adultery, fornication, murder, thievery, lying, or whatever it might be. God has told us to love them.

Seriously… how did Jesus act toward the sinner when He walked the earth? He loved them!! He didn’t love their sin, but He was able to look beyond their sin and love them, spending time with them and showing them unconditional love.

Can we honestly say that we do this? Do we love the sinner… really love the sinner, in spite of their sin?

God does it for us. He loves us in spite of our sin and our selfish ways. If God can love us, how much more should we love others?

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-4-12

(Prov 3:13 NKJV)  Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding;

God’s wisdom is like nothing else in this world.

His wisdom gives us insights for daily living. Some things in life are not as spiritual as we like to make them seem, and God’s wisdom is the guide that we need to help us make the right choices and decisions in these situations.

As we make certain decisions and choices, sometimes all we need to do is use this wisdom and the answer will be staring us right in the face! There are times when things are deeper and require spiritual insight and discernment, but not as often as we think.

We’d like to encourage everyone to dig into God’s word and get His wisdom. The book of Proverbs is full of tidbits that give us what we need for day to day life.

Be strong in His power and might!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-3-12

(Psa 105:1 NKJV)  Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!

Today many may say, “oh it’s Friday, finally Friday, whew! The weekend has come and we shout and get excited and we are happy. We stop and get a coffee on our way to work. We tip the person at the window, and we smile, saying nice things along the way to all those we run into, wherever we may be going. It’s Friday; our attitude is the attitude of relief and thankfulness…all because it is Friday!

If we could walk around everyday like it is Friday, well then maybe we’d be more the way Jesus would want us to be everyday; Happy, smiling, full of joy, saying hi to people!

Let us be thankful today…not just for Friday. But let us be thankful and give God praise for the day is a good day, not just because it’s Friday. Every day is a good day…for God has sent His precious Son to save us all from our sins.

Sins. That’s right, whether a big sin, or a small sin, He saved us from them all. Ask Jesus, to come into your heart today if you haven’t already, and be Your Savoir. Repent and sin no more. If He is Your Savior already…ask Him to forgive you for your sins today, big ones or small ones, in between ones and be free.

Have a great attitude today. Because it’s Friday? NO! Why? Because we have a Savoir that has saved us from our sins. He has given us eternal life and  a testimony to share with others about His goodness and the freedom He brings!

Give Him Thanks for being our Savoir!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-2-12

(Deu 6:5 NKJV)  “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart. This is the foundation to living a life that honors God in every possible way.

After yesterday’s Bible Verse of The Day about “casual Christians”, we had some people write to us and ask how to go beyond being lukewarm, or what it means not to be a casual Christian.

The best way to explain it is this: “Being so in love with God that every aspect of your life exemplifies Christ and brings honor to His name.”

It’s not something that we do just by following rules or a set of laws. As we grow closer to God, our lives are transformed a little at a time, and before we know it, so much about us changes; the things we say, the way we treat others, the entertainment that we take in… it all changes. Why? Because we love God and want to please Him.

So how do we get so close to God that this happens? We make a conscious effort to know Him. We can’t just know about Him. We have to know Him. We get to know Him by spending time in His word, learning everything that we can about who He wants us to be and how He wants to interact in our lives. And we learn to listen for His voice and obey it!

It all boils down to the condition of our heart. As we allow God to change our heart, we will become closer to Him. A hard heart will always keep God at a distance. A heart that has been touched and softened by God will want to be as close as possible to Him.

We challenge you to let God change your heart and draw you close to Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-1-12

(1 Cor 6:20 NKJV)  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins. He bought us with His very own blood and His life.

As I was out for a walk in the evening, God impressed upon my heart to share a message with you today about casual Christianity. There are hundreds of thousands… possibly even millions of “casual Christians” across the globe.

These would be the people who have made a confession of faith at some point in their life, accepting Christ as their savior. But for one reason or another, they have never gone beyond a casual relationship with Him, keeping Him at arm’s length.

I want to speak to you today if you are a casual Christian. This is not to condemn anyone in any way whatsoever. But it is to urge you to move beyond where you are at right now and give Jesus your WHOLE being. He is worthy of our entire life. After all, He bought it with His own life!

If there is something stopping you from surrendering, give it to God and let Him have it. Try to understand how much God paid for you and that He wants 100% of you. He deserves to have 100% of you.

Give yourself over to Him. Let Him sit on the throne of your heart. There is nothing in your life that’s too big for Him to handle.

You will never know true peace until He is your everything.
