Bible Verse of The Day – 9-7-12

(Phil 2:8 NKJV)  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Jesus was completely obedient, even unto death. He sacrificed His life for us.

You know when you’ve completed something and you look back and say, “That was so was hard, but it was well worth it.” Well, I cannot say that I was worth what Christ did for me.

What Jesus did for all of us was done from pure love.

If you are feeling unloved today, know that no matter what your up against, there is someone that loves you more than you think you’re worth.

You may not think you are worth much…but to Christ you are the love of His life!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-6-12

(Mal 3:10 NKJV)  Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

We had several people ask us questions about yesterday’s Bible Verse of The Day on tithing, so we wanted to address them here, just in case anyone else might have had the same questions but didn’t write to ask us.

Here are the questions that were asked:

1 – Who should we tithe to if we don’t have a church?

2 – Does the 10% have to be to the church only or can part be to other causes?

3 – Does your tithe need to be given in the church or anywhere? Maybe to someone on the street?

Below are our answers:

If you attend a local church regularly and consider it your “home church” your tithe should be given there. If, however, you don’t have a home church your tithe should be sown into whatever ministry “feeds” you on a regular basis.

For example, if there is a Christian ministry that gives you spiritual food and nourishment regularly and you look to their teaching as your source of godly inspiration, understanding and knowledge, you should sow into that ministry.

Giving your 10% to a non-Christian organization is not considered a tithe. God tells us specifically in Malachi to bring your tithes into the “storehouse”, which is God’s way of saying to “bring it into the place that feeds you”.

Regarding giving it to someone on the street; while this is honorable, it can also be dangerous. Not so much from a standpoint of physical harm to you, but that you never know where that money ends up. The person you give it to might very well need help, but then again they might be a regular panhandler who makes their living by collecting money from people on the streets. Or they could be a drug addict who will take your money and go buy their next fix.

There is a fine line between helping people and hurting people when we give to random people who are begging for money. Some of these people are more than able to work, but they “work” by spending their days on the street asking people to give them money. That might come across as harsh when you first read it, but we have learned a lot about this kind of thing over the years.

The important thing to remember in all of this is that God gives us His word and he gives us certain things that we are supposed to do. These are not optional, even though we sometimes treat them as though they are. Tithing is one of those things.

We know that this isn’t always a popular teaching, but that’s OK because we’re not in this to win any popularity contests. We’re in it to teach the word of God in an uncompromising way, with the love and compassion of God.

Don’t neglect your tithe. It’s very important.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-5-12

(Mal 3:8 NKJV)  “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.

God is looking for our tithes and offerings.

Being a Christian isn’t just about going to church, sitting in the seat and learning how to live a Christian life.

God wants all Christians to give. He wants us to obey Him in every aspect of the Bible, not just part of it.

Does He need our money? Yes; He wants to take it and use it to help those that are in need. Whether they need to hear the Gospel or they need food. Maybe they need a doctor or they may need their bills paid because they have fallen on hard times. It takes money to reach these people and to meet their needs.

Every time we forget to give or we choose not to give our tithe, we just neglected to help someone or many that are in need.

Tithes and offerings are very important to God. We need to be faithful and diligent in our giving.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-4-12

(Gal 3:28 NKJV)  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Have you ever encountered racial prejudice? I live in an area of the world where racial prejudice isn’t a major thing. That’s not to say that it doesn’t happen, but it doesn’t happen to a very large degree.

Some areas of the world are worse than others. And regardless of whether it’s a small amount of prejudice or a big amount, it’s still prejudice and it’s very wrong.

Sadly, prejudice isn’t restricted to unbelieving people. There is racial prejudice INSIDE the body of Christ. This is a sin against God. He has created each and every one of us, regardless of what color our skin is or what nationality we are. If we are believers then we are all one in Christ.

There are no exceptions. God’s word is very plain about this. So if you still struggle with being prejudice against people because of the color of their skin or their racial heritage, I want to encourage you today to get before God and repent. Ask Him to forgive you and to give you a new heart for people of other races.

Don’t favor one race over another… ever. We are all created in God’s image and Jesus Christ died for the black man, the white man and the Arabian man just as much as He died for the Turkish man, the Asian man or the Jamaican man.

Love God’s people just as God loves you!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-3-12

(Heb 10:23 NKJV)  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

God has given us hope through His son, Jesus Christ.

There are many, many things that will try to take our hope and destroy it. Every day we face new tests, temptations and trials that can change the path we’re on, if we let them.

As believers, it’s critical that we HOLD FAST to our hope! If we lose hope, we have nothing left to hold on to.

Let us be very plain and clear today about this; the enemy will go to great lengths to destroy our hope. There will be days and seasons where we will feel like we just can’t win… we can’t get ahead, but we must persevere.

Victory will come, but it might not always come when we want it or the way we think it should happen.

God, who has given us this hope, is faithful.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-1-12

(Acts 4:7 NKJV)  And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, “By what power or by what name have you done this?”

Oh Hallelujah! By what power and by what Name they asked, and what was Peter’s response? In Acts 4:10 He says, “by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the One you crucified”.

You see, putting Jesus on that cross did not stop Him. As a matter of fact, that was the whole plan of the Father. (John 14:6 NKJV)  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

He sent His Son to die for us, for our sins. He made a way through Jesus so that we may have ever lasting life and a wonderful relationship with the Father while we are here on earth.

They thought Jesus was dead after they crucified Him. But No; Jesus was more alive then before. For now His Spirit did not only live in Him, but in all who believe; all who believe!

Praise God! If you have received Him as your personal Savior, He is Alive in YOU! Oh the Victory we have through Jesus Christ. He is living in You today! Such power we have in His name!!

Shout for Joy! Don’t let this world have a voice over you and say you are poor, or weak because of your material status, your social status or any other status. If you have Christ, you have more then enough! Material things will pass away, but Christ lives in YOU forever!!

You are RICH in Christ!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-31-12

(Eph 6:11 NKJV)  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

God has provided us with armor. This means that He expects us to face some tough battles.

It would be awesome if we could walk through life and not have to go through trials and battles, but that’s just not realistic. Because we MUST go through battles, God has given us everything we need to be able to stand against the things that the devil hurls at us.

We need to remember, though, that our armor won’t protect us if we don’t put it on!!

Well-used armor will have a tendency to be full of dents, scratches and other battle scars. This means it did its job in protecting the wearer.

Where is your armor today? Do you have it on, or did you forget? Is it stuffed in your closet behind a bunch of other unwanted stuff, or is it maybe even in your basement amongst other dusty items that are long-forgotten?

We need to pick it up, put it on and let God teach us how to use it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-30-12

(Eph 5:3-4 NKJV)  But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; {4} neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

God is talking to us saints here; He is telling it like it is. This is what Daddies do for their children; protect, teach and train them. He is letting us know what is fitting, and what is NOT!

Don’t take this lightly, for everything we do we will have to answer for. Today let us repent of the things we have been allowing to run us and let’s start fresh and new.

The good news is, God will forgive us and He will help us as we ask Him to.

Let’s give thanks, for we serve a patient and loving God who wants to help us, not hurt us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-29-12

(Prov 8:32 NKJV)  “Now therefore, listen to me, my children, For blessed are those who keep my ways.

Walking according to the Word of God is the way we should live every day. Not just Sunday, but Sunday thru Saturday!!

What does He say if we do this? WE ARE BLESSED! You can shout that today; you can claim for it is Yours!

You don’t have to hide it because others may be jealous or mad. Shout it from the mountaintops and let the world know that you are blessed!

Receive the joy that God has for you today. Don’t walk around with your head hanging because things may not be going exactly the way you thought they should go. If you are God’s child…you are blessed! Oh Praise God!!

Follow His ways, walk in His Words, listen to Him and be BLESSED!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-28-12

(Gen 1:1 NKJV)  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Just the other day I met this little 5 year old girl. We were having a conversation; She said to me, “how did God get to heaven?” I said, “Oh dear, He made heaven, He spoke it into existence.” She looked at me and said, I would like to do that some day. She said “I would like to speak things and they will happen”.

She made me realize how even little children have questions pertaining to God. They are so willing to listen. They want to know the truth.

If you have young children and you are wondering if they understand everything about God, don’t wait until you think they’re ready, just start speaking it; speak the truth to them.

Just like anything else, at first it may be hard for them to understand some things, but keep telling them; repeat it over and over until they get it. Sunday school is good for kids, but how about Monday school or Tuesday school, etc.? Keep teaching them throughout the week; in the kitchen when they’re helping peel carrots or when they are getting tucked into bed…oh those wonderful, true stories!

Kids need to hear the truth!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-27-12

(Lam 3:22-23 NKJV)  Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. {23} They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Today is Monday. It’s the start of a new week. Each Monday we all hope and pray that this week will be better than last week, right?

Well, we need to remember what God says in the verses above. It’s not the weeks that we need to be concerned with, it’s the days!

God has promised us that His mercies are new every morning. He doesn’t wait for Monday! Every single morning brings us the promise of God’s mercies being fresh and new for us. We don’t have to wait for a specific day of the week… not Friday, Sunday or Monday.

We aren’t restricted to receiving his new mercies by a ritual or tradition that we have to follow, or a specific set of prayers or words that we need to utter. He just offers them to us because He loves us!

Bask in His mercy today and let Him show you His love, no matter what you’re going through right at this moment.
