Bible Verse of The Day – 3-8-13

(Ephesians 4:29 NKJV)  Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

Watching what we say takes constant work and at times it can be hard to hold back.

It doesn’t matter if it’s early in the morning and we are still waking up or we worked late hours and we are so tired.  It doesn’t matter if we are having a bad day, or if we’re not feeling well; if it’s not good, we have to hold our tongue.

Sometimes we like to give ourselves an excuse to justify our behavior. All that does is put  a bandage on it until the next time it happens. Let God help us get discipline over our mouths so we don’t keep repeating the same thing over and over.

Let us impart grace today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-7-13

(Matthew 5:16 NKJV)  “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Helping others, spending time praying, teaching, loving, and just being there when we are needed; these are some ways of shining our light.

When we are doing these things, our motive should be that God will be glorified through it. This is very important.

Having this kind of motive in our heart will help us to stay on track and draw us even closer to God, causing our light to SHINE even brighter for Him!

Shine your light today!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-6-13

(Mat 4:11 NKJV)  Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

Jesus was no different than us. He was tempted, just as we are.

But Jesus resisted the devil’s temptations and look at what happened. The devil left Him.

You know, we are no different. We are tempted on a daily basis. Things come our way that try to pull us to the left or to the right, off of the path that God has set before us.

But we never have to let those temptations lead us astray. God’s word tells us this. (James 4:7 NKJV)  Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Resisting the devil isn’t easy, but it’s much easier than the consequences we face if we were to give in to the temptation!

Don’t let the enemy of your soul lure you into things that aren’t of God. The results are never good.

God gives us the strength to resist. We just need to follow His leading!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-5-13

(Matthew 5:19 NKJV)  “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

It’s important that we understand that teaching can be done in different ways.

Teaching can be done by words but it can also be done by our actions. Our actions will usually be more powerful than our words. So if we are a quiet person, don’t worry. We are still teaching… people are still learning.

We could be teaching our close friends, our family, people we work with or even someone we don’t know.

As God’s people, we need Him more than ever to guide our steps so that we may be good examples, whether through our words or our actions, and teaching what is true.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-4-13

(Mark 6:4 NKJV)  But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.”

Despite being the son of God, Immanuel (God with us), Jesus wasn’t accepted or honored in his own land.

How many of us can relate to this? How many of us have been rejected or ridiculed by our own families because we are believers?

Well, we say to you today “don’t take it to heart!” Don’t let what your family members think of you discourage you or turn you away from God.

Some of us get ridiculed because we are believers. Even worse, others have had family members turn their backs on them. You’re not alone. Sadly, this happens more often than most of us realize.

So what are we to do? We are to love them. We are to pray for them.

But we are not to chase them or preach at them. If they choose to turn their backs on us, we need to let them know that we love them and then go on with our lives, praying for God to soften their hearts and draw them to Him.

And we need to forgive them. It’s ok to be angry that this has happened, but we cannot hold bitterness toward them. We need to release them to God and let Him work it out.

If you are going through this, give it to God. Let Him take care of the problem. It’s not ours to carry or to fix.

He’s much better at fixing things than we can ever be!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-2-13

(Mark 5:36 NKJV)  As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”

Fear; it is the opposite of faith.

Are we afraid? Do we let fear control us? Do we spend more time being afraid of what might happen than we do enjoying the blessings we already have?

Don’t let fear grip you. Don’t spend your hours, days and weeks wondering “what if”.

If you are struggling with fear, don’t wait another minute. Rebuke the spirit of fear in the name of Jesus. Tell it to leave. Tell it that you are a child of The Most High God and you will no longer live in fear.

You have wasted enough time being afraid of what “might happen” or what “could happen”. Today, take a stand and rise up in the name of Jesus, and move forward boldly, trampling on that spirit of fear that has controlled you for so long.

You are a child of The King.

Be blessed in all you do today!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-1-13

(Hebrews 6:12 NKJV)  that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

I find it interesting that it is through faith and patience we inherit the promises.

These two things, faith and patience, are probably what we all have a hard time with. Faith gets stronger and stronger in us as we trust God, but we will never see the answer if we don’t have patience enough to wait on Him. These two things work together to receive the promises.

We cannot just sit back and do nothing if we want answers and victory in our lives, or the lives of others around us. It’s going to take us working at having faith for things we never thought we could have, and patience for God’s timing to receiving them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-13

(James 5:16 NKJV)  Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

We need each other. No matter how we look at it, we need each other. We were designed to need each other.

There are some of us that don’t like to bother others and we want to handle things ourselves. There are some things we can handle on our own. But, there may come a situation when it is just too much and we need to reach out to others and ask for help.

Why did God create us this way? Was it so we could take advantage of people or be relying on others all the time? No, that isn’t why. There should be no taking advantage of anyone at any time. But a healthy balance in getting help is what God intended. God tells us to confess to each other so that we can get healing.

When we are facing a hard time, or going through things, reaching out for help causes us to humble ourselves and get the prayer we need for our troubles.

When we confess to others, it also helps us to see ourselves in the state we are in, causing us to be accountable for our actions. This is all good and will help us to get through our situation, as we obey God and not try to do it all on our own, but with the help of others and God’s leading.

Let us help our brothers and sisters in need today and let us see the need in ourselves and get the help we need at times.

Healing starts when we confess.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-27-13

(2 Kings 5:10-11 NKJV)  And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” {11} But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’

Today we’d like to talk to you about expectations.

We all have certain expectations when it comes to God. We have things we desire for Him to do. The funny part is that, most times, the expectations we have aren’t in line with what God wants for us or how He wants to bless us or provide for us.

In the example above, Naaman wanted to be healed of leprosy. He had expectations, first of all to be healed, and second, how he should be healed. When Elisha ordered him to wash in the Jordan River seven times, Naaman became furious and left. Why? Because the way he was going to be healed didn’t meet his expectations.

What are our expectations when it comes to God? Do we have everything all planned out for Him when it comes to how He is to remedy our situations or our condition?

Or are we open to His spirit and willing to let Him speak to us and show us how He wants to work on our behalf.

Think about that. It might make the difference between getting our prayers answered or not.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-26-13

(Matthew 17:20-21 NKJV)  So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. {21} “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

With faith the size of a mustard seed…

How big is a mustard seed? Mustard seeds are the small round seeds of various mustard plants. They’re not big at all. As a matter of fact they are very tiny. The seeds are usually about 1 or 2 mm in diameter, according to Wikipedia.

In the verses above Jesus said if that we have faith the size of a mustard seed we can move that very MOUNTAIN that stands between us and our victory! Now, we need to understand that there are some things that we must pray and fast for if we want to see results.

If there are things in our lives today that we want to see happen, and we know we have the faith for them, but there is nothing happening, we need to ask God why.

What is it that we need to do to see the results that we know He can bring?  Some situations require prayer and fasting. If that is the case, let us stop at nothing to go after the victory we’re asking God for.

Have faith today and move those mountains. If we need to, let us pray and fast and get the results that we know God can and will give us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-25-13

(Hebrews 11:8 NKJV)  By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

This is the summation of our walk with God; By Faith.

As we are children and we grow up, we are taught that we need to meticulously plan our every move. We need to plan for our future. We need to map everything out.

And while there is some truth to this, it leaves God out of the picture; eliminates “the faith factor”.

We, as God’s people, need to learn to live and move by faith. We need to learn to trust God so much that we can learn to walk in the kind of faith that Abraham had.

God told Abraham to go, but didn’t tell him where to go. Abraham obeyed, leaving behind all that was familiar to him. Was he perfect in his obedience? No. But he did obey and he did leave his homeland and venture out into the unknown.

There is a balance that we all need to work toward attaining. We need to be responsible, but we also need to trust God and have a level of faith that will carry us through whatever comes our way.

Trust God. Put Him first and everything else will follow.
