Bible Verse of The Day – 3-21-13

(Numbers 20:11-12 NKJV)  Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank. {12} Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”

As you read this passage, there might not be anything that really stands out about it, other than the fact that water flowed from a rock.

But there is something very significant about Moses striking the rock. You see, God had instructed Moses to speak to the rock, not to strike it. But because Moses had previously struck a rock and water had flowed, he chose to disobey God and strike the rock as he had done in the past.

God still caused water to flow, but he admonished Moses and Aaron afterward and told them that they would not be allowed to usher the Israelites into the Promised Land.

Do we act the same way as Moses? Do we feel like we need to keep doing the same things that worked for us in the past, because we don’t believe God when He shows us a new way?

Are we stuck in a rut, falling into routines, habits and rituals in our walk with God because it’s the way we’ve always done it? Doing this ties God’s hands and smothers the Holy Spirit, preventing Him from moving in our lives.

So we would ask again, are we doing this in our own lives, as Moses did? Let’s check ourselves and see.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-20-13

(Numbers 11:23 NKJV)  And the LORD said to Moses, “Has the Lord’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not.”

Are we asking God this same question today? Where are you, God? Has Your arm been shortened?

Have you been in your situation so long that you are beginning to wonder about this?

When we are having good times, of course everything is good. We are confident we are heading down the right road and we are doing the right things.

When trouble comes, and it takes a bit to figure things out…it’s different. It causes us to take a look at ourselves and make changes, if needed. We take the time and ask ourselves are we doing the right things or have we strayed in the wrong direction. Did we make a wrong turn somewhere? What?

This is all good; we should check ourselves. We should be accountable for our actions. If we went off track a bit, God wants us to get back on track. He will be more than happy to help us get back on.

Sometimes we may even feel like He is nowhere around; it seems quiet. At times it can seem so quiet that we think nothing’s happening. We may feel that we have gone too far or done too much wrong to even expect Him to want to help us.

We may even feel He has left us alone to fix things ourselves. That is just not true! That is a lie and we all know where lying voices come from.

No matter how far away we have strayed from the right path, God’s arm has not been shortened. As we repent and truly want to receive His help, His arm will reach down and pick us up right where we are at.

Today, know this; that God’s arm is not too short to reach us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-19-13

(John 8:3-4 NKJV)  Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, {4} they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.

Most of us are familiar with this story. A woman was caught in the act of adultery and she was brought before Jesus by her accusers to see how He would handle this situation.

Ultimately, Jesus shamed them all and they walked away, one by one, dropping the large stones that they had intended to kill her with. He taught them that before they could condemn anyone, they’d better make sure their own lives were free of sin.

Finally, the only ones left there were Jesus and the accused woman.

Now, most times when this story is taught, people focus on the fact that Jesus told the woman that she was forgiven. And this is very true. Jesus did tell her that she was forgiven.

But just as importantly, Jesus said something else to her that was critical. He told her to “go and sin no more“.

(John 8:11 NKJV)  … And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Repentance is a key part of forgiveness. Without it, the picture gets distorted. If we ask God to forgive us for something that we have done, we’d better be prepared to repent and turn away from those things that we’re asking to be forgiven for.

Asking for forgiveness and then going right back to that same sin isn’t true repentance.

Just as Jesus did, we urge you today to “go and sin no more”.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-18-13

(Psalm 112:2-3 NKJV)  His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. {3} Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness endures forever.

How do we look at our life today? Can we say we are blessed right now where we are at? Are we always reaching for more and more?

Let us take time and see the good things that God has done for us. We may not realize just how blessed we are if we don’t take the time we need to enjoy those blessings.

The devil loves to come and steal the joy that we should have each day. Trying to always point out the troubles that may be in front of us, he can cause us to look right past the blessings.

We need to understand that God will help us get through the trials as we put our trust in Him. Don’t focus today on the trials, but be thankful and grateful for the blessings.

The upright are blessed; wealth and riches are in our house!!

Keep trusting, keep believing, keep REJOICING. We are MIGHTY on the earth!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-16-13

(Psalm 101:3 NKJV)  I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me.

Our eyes and ears are the inlet to our soul. Everything we see leaves a lasting impression on us, both good and bad.

There are some things that truly stick inside our heads for years and even decades to come.

So what are we letting in? Are they good things? Or are they not so good things?

Are we sitting through TV shows and movies that aren’t so pleasing to God? Are we looking at magazines or other types of media that are polluting our souls?

(Phil 4:8 NKJV)  Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy; meditate on these things.

Let’s make a renewed effort to take in those things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy! And let’s push the other stuff aside and leave it behind.

Have an awesome weekend and be blessed in all you do!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-15-13

(Psalm 8:9 NKJV)  O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!

His name is excellent in all the earth!

Why is it then, that this name is only used at church, in bible studies, prayer groups, or on youth night. etc.? Why is it that when this name is used it is used in the wrong way? It can be heard in secular music and in movies or on TV?

How many times throughout the day do we hear this excellent name being used in vain?

This world has become so desensitized that they take this excellent name in vain and don’t even think twice about it. How is this?

Let us not allow this world to desensitize us! But let us show this world how excellent this name is, that at this name every knee should bow and that at this name every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is LORD!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-13

(Deuteronomy 6:5 NKJV)  “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

We want to take a few minutes today to encourage you in your walk with God.

Life isn’t easy. We all have battles to fight and trials to work through, but there is one thing that can make it easier to keep going, even when the going seems so very hard.

It’s our love for God. Our love for God is the most important thing we can hold on to, whether we’re going through hard times or we’re celebrating victory.

Pastor Ellie and I truly love God with all our hearts and everything within us. We have grown to love Him more as each day and each year goes by.

This doesn’t always mean that we understand everything that He does, but it means that no matter what comes our way, we trust Him and we accept even those things that we don’t understand.

Our prayer for you is that your love for God grows stronger every day that you live and breathe. Your walk with God is the single most important thing in your life. Nurture it and give it every bit of effort that it deserves.

Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-13-13

(Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV)  Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; {6} In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Trust in the Lord. These are words that we are learning to live by more and more each day.

We have been going through some trials the past several months and they are causing us to really check ourselves and see where our trust really lies.

We have been in a period of waiting that seems endless. If we were not trusting in God, we just might lose all hope.

But I stand today and proclaim boldly that we will trust in the Lord with all of our heart, and we will seek His understanding in all things.

We will shout from the mountaintops and from the valley, “God, we praise you in the midst of this storm and we worship you no matter what comes our way”.

Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-12-13

(Psalm 37:26 NKJV)  He is ever merciful, and lends; And his descendants are blessed.

We are blessed!

Last week my hubby came down with a bad sinus infection. He had gone to the doctors and he was prescribed some meds.

The weather report for the next few days was showing signs of a bad snow storm. We were supposed to get quite a bit of snow, which meant when it was done he would have to go out and take care of the driveway and sidewalk and so forth…you men know the drill.

Not that I wouldn’t go out and do it all for him, he knows I would in a heartbeat. However, he does not allow me to and it would bother him to know that I was out there and he was sick in bed. So, morning came and we woke up to just a “dusting” of snow all around us.

We were so happy that the storm did not hit us and we were curious to see what was going on. He looked at the storm on the weather map and do you know the storm that was supposed to hit us had a hole over our area where the storm did not hit. Yet it hit everywhere else that was reported, leaving lots of snow to clean up.

Take it for what it is…but we believe God BLESSED us!! He knows how to bless His children!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-11-13

(Proverbs 3:21-22 NKJV)  My son, let them not depart from your eyes; Keep sound wisdom and discretion; {22} So they will be life to your soul And grace to your neck.

Sound wisdom and discretion; in modern times we call this common sense. God has given all of us common sense. We use it on a daily basis to make choices and decisions.

Sometimes we, as believers, tend to overlook common sense as we try to “get God” on something, or try so very hard to “know what God’s telling us”.

Sometimes we can be trying so hard to be spiritual that we overlook what God is showing us with good old fashioned common sense!

We should always seek God in everything we do. It’s important that we do this and important that we know how to hear Him when he’s speaking to us. But it’s just as important that we know how to use the tools that He has given us (intelligence and common sense), when we don’t seem to have a spiritual answer for a situation.

Sometimes the answer to our problem(s) is staring us in the face, but because it doesn’t reveal itself in some kind of spiritual way, we just don’t see it. Well, this is where common sense needs to kick in and we need to see it for what it is.

This can happen to any one of us, regardless of how spiritual we think we are!

Are you facing a problem today? Are you waiting on God for an answer to that problem? Maybe He hasn’t shown you a solution yet… or maybe He has, but we just need to use common sense to see it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-9-13

(1 Peter 2:11-12 NKJV)  Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, {12} having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

We are being watched!

No… We’re not being watched by spies or secret admirers. We are being watched by those around us who know we are believers… followers of Christ!

Once people know we’re Christians, they will watch our every move. They want to know if we’re legitimate and if God is real.

They make their judgments about God based on what they see in us. Scary, isn’t it? We are representatives of God here on earth.

So let’s give God the best representation we possibly can, so that when our time on this earth is finished and we stand before our creator, He will look at us and say “well done, good and faithful servant”!
