Bible Verse of The Day – 4-16-13

(Proverbs 22:6 NKJV)  Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Today as I was doing some things around the house, I heard my wife in the other room as she was spending time with our two grandchildren.

She was using a couple of puppets that we have to keep them entertained and to have some fun with them. But what caught my attention was the subject matter. She was teaching them about Jesus.

As she used these puppets and had fun with them, she shared stories about Jesus and taught them who He is and how much He loves them. She also shared some stories about other people from the Bible, like Daniel and David.

I remember that when our own kids were young she would do the same thing. She took the time to teach them the things that would shape their future when it came to their spiritual well-being. We did this when they were young and they still walk with God today.

Parents, please listen to me. It is critical that you teach your children. They need to know God, not just know about Him. It is up to us, as parents, to instill the things of God into their hearts and minds while they are young.

God promises us that if we do this they will not depart from it. This doesn’t mean that they won’t stray occasionally or test the waters outside of God’s desires for them, but if they truly understand who God is and get to know Him, they won’t stay far off for long.

So train your children in the way they should go and entrust them to God. He will not fail you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-15-13

(1 John 3:18 NKJV)  My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

This verse reminds us that action means more than just words themselves.

If we are going to share the love of God, we need to take action. How many of us today are so full of wanting to do something for God, but when we think of doing something, we think of the “mission field” as being in some other country where there is no water or food, or where there are lots of sick and lost people.

We need to take a look around right where we are at today. There are sick and hungry people, and there are lost and dying people everywhere. We don’t have to leave our country to find them…but start right where we are at.

Let us not waste one more day. Reach out today with actions of love and truth and may God’s love move through us MIGHTILY to help that ONE!! Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-13-13

(Psalm 103:1 NKJV)  Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

With every breath that I take, I will bless the Lord.

In good times and in trials, I will bless the Lord.

Through every storm, I will bless the Lord and praise His holy name.

He is worthy of all glory, honor and praise.

I will bless the Lord with all that is within me.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-12-13

(Revelation 3:11 NKJV)  “Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown”.

Hold fast to what you have.

We have been given much. We have life in Christ. We have forgiveness from our sins and we have been given the promise of eternal life.

The world and the evil forces around us will do anything to take our crown. Evil forces are on the move in more ways than we realize and their goal is to strip us of all we have been given.

They want to take our freedom.

It’s up to us to protect it. How do we do this?

We grow in God. We draw close to Him and we cling to every word He speaks to us, knowing that He is our source of life. We let Him sharpen our discernment and teach us how to be alert.

The world is changing quickly. Religious freedoms are being stripped away with each day that passes by. As believers we can’t sit idly by and let the enemy of our soul trample over us.

Church, we need to be sharp and diligent. We need to watch for wolves in sheep’s clothing, for they are all around us.

This is not to scare you, but it is a warning for us all! Hold fast to your crown and cling to the source of life. In the name of Jesus!

Bible verse of The Day – 4-11-13

(Matthew 10:8 NKJV)  “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

Is God’s Spirit allowed in our churches today?

This is the question we all must ask ourselves. It’s up to us to know if we are in a church that allows God to move. Or do we let man dictate to us how a church service should be run each week?

It’s not that we shouldn’t have order in the church, because we need order. But we should be able to change things up as needed. Now, if that is a problem then we need to be careful about what is trying to set in… tradition, man-made ideas and agendas.

If you are in a church and you are doing the same things over and over again every Sunday without fail, we need to seek God and ask Him if He is there. Does His Spirit have the freedom to move in that place?

God wants to be in church too! He wants to help people get healed, but some churches don’t believe in healing. God wants to save people, some churches don’t believe in salvation. God wants to deliver people from demonic oppression, some churches don’t believe in deliverance, etc.

Why would we go and support such a place if it does not allow God to move?

Just a thought.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-10-13

(2 Corinthians 6:17 NKJV)  Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

This verse is so often improperly quoted and too many times taken way out of context. So let’s bring some clarity to it today.

When we are told to “come out from among them”, we are being told to be different than “them”. We are not necessarily being told to physically separate ourselves from the rest of the world

We are physically in the world. We cannot leave the world in a physical sense. It’s impossible. So how do we “come out from among them”? By our actions and our behavior.

We are to be the light of the world. This means we are to present God to everyone with our words and our actions. We are to show His love, mercy, forgiveness and compassion.

This is what it means to come out from among them! This is how we reach a lost and dying world.

If we were to remove ourselves from society we would never reach anyone with the message of the Gospel and we would never be faced with anything that would test our faith and help us to grow.

So go into the world today and shine God’s light. Show His love. Practice His forgiveness, compassion and mercy. You can make a difference in someone’s life!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-9-13

(Genesis 1:27 NKJV)  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

We are created in the image of God. He made us in His likeness!

Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean we look like Him. It means that we have his attributes “programmed” into us.

He created us to excel, to love and be loved, to be beautiful (regardless of our physical appearance) and to worship and serve Him.

Sadly, humans have corrupted what God created and we have forgotten that we were created in His image.

We have been lied to about ourselves. We have been told that we’re not good enough. We’ve been told that we’re ugly. We have been told that we’re stupid. We have all heard so many things in our lifetime that pretty soon we start to buy the lies.

We are here to tell you today that it’s time to put these lies to rest, once and for all.

If you feel that you are anything less than a creation of The Most High God, made in His image, you have bought the lie!

Rebuke that lie right now, in the name of Jesus. Speak to the lying spirit that has convinced you that you are less than what God created you to be. Tell it to leave, in Jesus’ name.

The devil needs to be under your feet, not hovering over you, whispering lies in your ear.

You are the head and not the tail. You are more than a conqueror in Christ, and you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-8-13

(Isaiah 45:22 NKJV)  “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.

As we begin our new week let us look to Him. He will guide us and give us Peace on our journey.

Last week was just one of those weeks for us. It was coming from every direction! Smack, bang, boom! Oh and while your trying to get up, BAM, here’s another one!!

My husband and I were tired when Saturday came. He hooked up with a buddy and went fishing. I was just going to stay in and lay low. It seemed like it all hit me at once… it was more than I could handle.

So here I was, all alone…or so I thought. I was just letting it all out on my living room floor, crying like a child. There may have been no people around me and I thought no one could hear me, but I knew God was right beside me. Deep within me I felt His Peace and the words that came to me were,”it’s alright.”

These two words calmed me right down, and in moments I began to feel better. I felt a relief as I looked to Him. He took it all and the heaviness was gone. I got up and began to sing and went about my business. I had a great day!

He was there for me; He saved me in my time of need.

There is NO other like Him. Amen!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-6-13

(1 Peter 3:10 NKJV)  For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.

God commands us to refrain our tongues from evil. This isn’t always easy, but it’s something we need to learn to do!

Sometimes things can creep into our minds and before we know it, they’re flying out of our mouths.

Let’s allow God’s spirit to guide what we say, not just what we do. Our words are powerful, so we need to be sure that the words we speak bring life and not death.

Guard your tongue and have a great weekend!

Bible verse of The Day – 4-5-13

(Genesis 1:3 NKJV)  Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

God’s Word is final. When He speaks, things happen!

This should bring stability and confidence to us, knowing that the One we serve, the One whom we call Father and Lord, is full of Might and Power and He is on our side!!

Be blessed today, for we are in His hands.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-13

(1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV)  Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, {7} casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Humility is a very important part of being a child of God. It’s not always an easy thing, but it’s critically important.

There are many benefits to being humble and there are many different aspects of being humble. What we’d like to share today deals with casting our cares upon Him. This isn’t taught very often from this particular point of view, but it needs to be!

So what does casting our cares upon Him have to do with humility? Everything!

If we cast our cares upon Him, we do so because we have humbled ourselves enough to admit that we don’t have the answers. We have reached the end of our plans, our ideas, our schemes and even our intellect.

Now… what does His word say about humility? It says that He gives grace to the humble and He opposes the proud.

(James 4:6 NKJV)  But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

So if we’re proud, we’re already fighting a losing battle because we’re fighting against God.

If you feel like you’re backed into a corner right now and you have no answers, maybe that’s not such a bad place to be, despite how it might feel. Because now that we have exhausted our own ideas, maybe we will let God step in and do what He wants to do with us.

Cast your cares upon Him today.
