Bible Verse of The Day – 5-24-13

(Philemon 1:3 NKJV)  Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Over the last several weeks we have received emails from people going through trials. We ourselves have also been going through trials for the last few months.

Every day that goes by, we see and hear about other terrible, tragic events and trials that are happening around the world.

We are here today to speak grace and peace into your situation. No matter how bad it might seem or how hard it is to bear, let God’s peace rule over you.

We know that some days can be terribly heavy and it can seem like there will be no end to the pain and misery that comes with trials and tests.

But don’t ever lose hope. Our hope isn’t in the things or the people of this world. Our hope lies in the one who spoke the world into existence. Our hope lies in the one who breathed life into us.

So if you’re going through trials or tests today, know deep down in your heart that you are not alone. Be assured that even when it feels like the world is closing in on you, God is your source of peace and rest.

His peace is our source of strength. Rest in Him today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-23-13

(Psalm 25:4 NKJV)  Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths.

When we ask Jesus to be our personal Savior, we become His child. But this does not mean we automatically know God’s way for us.

It’s important that we take time to ask God to lead us to the right teacher or to the church he would like us to attend and so forth. We shouldn’t just try any old place. There are a lot of spiritual things that go on in churches that are not of God and can hurt our walk with God, and even take us down the wrong path if we are not careful.

God has a path for us all, and everyone’s path is different. What happens at times is that we see someone doing something that we may enjoy or admire, so we follow them, thinking it is the only way.

Try not to let this happen to you. Seek after God. He is faithful to lead us down His path for us and it will be GOOD!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-22-13

(Luke 8:16 NKJV)  “No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light.

How bright do we let our light shine?

If we are children of God and followers of Christ, we have the light of God inside of us! Jesus said we are the light of the world.

Do we let His light shine through us? Can others see Christ in us?

Every action we take during the course of a day reflects on our walk with God and represents our heavenly Father. How we behave (or not behave!) shows people around us where our heart is at.

If people know we are believers, they will be watching us to see how we react to certain things in our everyday lives.

Knowing this, let’s be the very best examples we can be and let His light shine brightly through us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-21-13

(Mark 6:46 NKJV)  And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray.

Jesus had quality time with His Dad.

While I was out taking a stroll tonight I passed a daughter and her dad. They were walking, talking and kicking a stone back and forth. I enjoyed seeing that. It’s that quality time that makes a difference. It makes a strong connection.

Just as that daughter and her dad shared things back and forth they learn to understand each other a little bit better.

It’s just like that with our Heavenly Father. As we take quality time and open up, sharing our feelings with Him and letting Him share back with us, that is how we grow closer. That is how we make a stronger connection and a better relationship.

Give quality time to any relationship that we want to see mended, healed or to grow. It will make a difference.

Time doesn’t cost us a thing… it’s free, so give it away to someone you know is in need, whether your relationship with God, or maybe your Spouse. It could be your child, your sister or brother; let God lead you today and show you who needs your time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-20-13

(Luke 7:14-16 NKJV)  Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” {15} So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. {16} Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.”

“Then fear came upon all”.

How many of us fear God? I’m not talking about the kind of fear that you have when you’re scared of someone hurting you. I’m referring to a healthy fear… the kind of fear that you have out of respect for someone.

Jesus was the perfect example of God’s amazing, unconditional love. But yet He caused the fear of God to fall on people when they saw his miracles.

Sadly, too few people fear God today. The reverent fear that we should have has been replaced with sugar-coated messages that try hard not to offend people or hurt their feelings.

God is love. But He is also pure and holy and worthy of our reverent fear. Without reverence and fear, we are taking God for less than who He really is.

We need to love God with our whole hearts. And when we do that, we will be gin to understand that we also need to fear God in a healthy, reverent way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-18-13

(1 John 5:5 NKJV)  Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

If we want to overcome this world and the troubles that it offers, if we want to make the right choices and walk in victory, joy, and love then we must believe in the Son of God.

We can try to overcome the problems and difficulties of this world with our own understanding, on our own strength, and with the sources that we have, but it will wear us down, beat us up and take every last bit of joy out of us.

It is the JOY of the Lord that gives us strength! We need strength to face each day and we need Jesus to help us overcome!

We love you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-17-13

(Luke 6:47-48 NKJV)  “Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: {48} “He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock”.

What are we building on? What is our foundation?

If we have been building our foundation on anything other than Jesus Christ, the solid rock, we need to make some changes.

Jesus is the rock upon which we need to stand. If we are placing our hope and trust in anything or anyone else, our foundations will soon crumble.

Jesus gives us hope when everything looks hopeless. He gives us strength when we are weak. He gives us peace when it feels like the world is crashing down around us.

Again, what foundation are you building on? Make sure you’re building on The Rock… Jesus Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-16-13

(1 John 5:12 NKJV)  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Do we ever wonder why, when we are around other believers or Christians, we have a good time and sometimes we don’t want our time with them to end?

Well, it is mainly because they are full of God… they have life in them. They have peace, love and JOY running through their blood. This is the gift of being in Christ!

We need to pay attention to who we get involved with. If they belong to God we will know and let me tell you that if they are not, we will know. Spending too much time with people that are not God’s children will bring us down…no matter how we look at it. There is no life in them and they will bring death to those around them.

This doesn’t mean we don’t reach out to those that don’t know God, but we must let the Holy Spirit guide us in doing so. We can not do this on our own.

Reaching out is different then HANGING out. Let us not kid ourselves today in saying, “we are just trying to help them. They need me.”

If we are being pulled into their arena, we are not helping them. They are hurting us and our relationship with Christ.

Be blessed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-15-13

(John 3:30 NKJV)  “He must increase, but I must decrease.

This single verse is the key to a thriving relationship with our Creator.

We can’t have a strong relationship with God until we learn to put Him first! It isn’t necessarily an easy thing to do, especially at first, but it’s something that we have to learn how to do and then walk it out.

Once we get understanding of this concept and begin putting it into practice, it will begin to come more naturally to us and before we know it, we will put God before everything else in our life.

We will wake in the morning and the first thing we will do is wonder what God will do in our lives today. We will spend our waking hours with God at the forefront of our minds, instead of somewhere there in the background.

Instead of always wondering what God is going to do for us, we will start to ask Him what we can do for Him! And as we grow in Him, we will learn to listen for the answers from Him.

Our lives will truly begin to be transformed as we start to put Him first and ourselves after Him.

Many of our struggles with sin will disappear when we put Him first. Many of our struggles with a bad attitude will disappear when we put Him first. Our struggles with unforgiveness and bitterness will disappear when we put him first. And the list goes on!

So start learning to let Him increase so you can decrease and watch how He transforms your life for the better.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-13

(John 14:26 NKJV)  “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

We need to remember that we are not alone. If there is a decision we need to make today, we don’t need to try to figure it all out on our own. We don’t need to take steps on our own. We have Someone to help us…Our Helper, the Holy Spirit.

All we have to do is ask Him. Let’s take time today and let the Holy Spirit guide us. He helps us make the right decisions in all we do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-13-13

(John 3:36 NKJV)  “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

So many times, people ask if there is more than one way to heaven or more than one way to eternal life.

Some people will try to water down the gospel and make it pleasing to man, not wanting to offend anyone or hurt anyone’s feelings. This is a disservice to the people who want to know the truth and it is a slap in the face of Jesus, who suffered and died the cruelest of deaths for every single human being on the face of the earth.

The truth is plain and simple; Jesus is the one way to eternal life. He is the one way to the Father. He is The Way.

(John 14:6 NKJV)  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

So if anyone ever asks a question about how to get to heaven, or how to have eternal life, or if we believe that Jesus is the only way to the Father, we should be sure to answer them very boldly and without shame or hesitation, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

There is only one way. Amen.
