Bible Verse of The Day – 6-6-13

(Revelation 3:20 NKJV)  “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Please read this very carefully today. This is very important for you to understand.

In the verse above, Jesus is talking about standing at the door and knocking. He is imploring us to open the door, let Him in and allow Him to dine with us.

Let me be right to the point here, if you don’t mind. This verse is many times used incorrectly, aiming it at people who don’t know God or who are not followers of Christ.

The truth, though, is that Jesus was speaking to the church…His followers. He was asking them to let Him in!

And do you know what? He is still knocking today, asking us to let Him in. He is standing at our heart’s door, asking us to please let Him in. We have known Him but He has been pushed aside in so many ways, left outside, looking in.

Church…people of God, we need to let Jesus back in. It is imperative that we let God peel away the hardened layers of our hearts and let God rule and reign in our lives again.

It’s time to put Jesus first in our lives and push those other things to the back burner, where they belong.

Today is the day. Don’t put this off any longer. Jesus is knocking at the door. Will we let Him in?

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-5-13

(1 Peter 2:20 NKJV)  For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.

Who wants to suffer and be punished when we didn’t do anything wrong? This verse will challenge us and cause us to grow in Christ, because walking this out takes strength, discipline and a lot of leaning on Him.

We have to remember that God knows and sees everything. Even though we may be going through a difficult time, paying the price for something that wasn’t our fault, we need to have a good attitude about it. By doing so, our reward and praise will come from Him.

If you are going through this situation today, this word is for you. God is saying to you that He sees it and you will be commended by Him. Don’t give up, for your deliverance is here!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-4-13

(Philippians 4:8 NKJV)  Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy; meditate on these things.

There are so many things that can occupy our thoughts. It’s easy to get caught up in thoughts that aren’t pleasing to God.

As followers of Christ, we need to keep track of what influences our thoughts and take charge of those things, in the name of Jesus.

Are we seeing things on TV, in magazines, on the internet or in movies that aren’t pure?

Are we hearing things on the radio, in conversations or in other places that are causing us to think things that aren’t pleasing to God?

Days fly by and it can sometimes be hard to keep track of everything. But let’s make a serious effort to do what God asks of us. Let’s watch and listen for those things that are offensive to God and do what is necessary to kick them out of our thought life.

Today, spend time thinking on things that are pure, true, lovely and so much more.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-3-13

(John 13:34 NKJV)  “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

This was the very first commandment Jesus gave to the disciples after He sent Judas away, giving Judas permission to go and betray Him.

Jesus knew He would only be around for a little while longer. His time had come.

He spent His entire time here loving all those that were around Him and those that He came in contact with. This commandment can make all the difference in the world as we follow His example.

As we go to work or school, care for our children, etc., wherever we go… take time to really love those around us. No matter how they may treat us, let us love them and do what Jesus commanded.

Have a great week!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-1-13

(John 13:14 NKJV)  “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

Jesus is showing us here how to remain great in the kingdom of God, by serving one another.

Jesus, God’s Son, the Messiah, the Christ, sat the disciples down and washed their feet. He could have just talked to them about it like in many of His teachings, but this one, He wanted to physically show them.

By doing this, it helped them to understand that no matter who we are, what position/title we hold, or whether we have the  I, II or III after our name, it doesn’t matter. We are to serve. He says if I, your LORD and Teacher can do this, we all should do it too.

Remember this example that Jesus has set for us, knowing there is no haughtiness, no pride, and definitely no arrogance in HIM.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-31-13

(Romans 14:7-8 NKJV)  For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. {8} For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.

We are not our own. We do not own our lives, nor are we the masters of them!

If you have put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ and have become a child of God, your life is not your own. Your life now belongs to Him.

There is a lot more to this than many people realize. This means that we are now accountable to Him in everything that we do; every choice we make, every plan we devise, everything.

Once we understand this, it should greatly impact our lives and change the way we do things. Before we make a decision about something, especially something major in our lives, we need to seek God and get His feedback on it.

Sometimes this is as simple as opening up the Word and seeing what it says about our situation or circumstance.

Other times it might be something pretty simple and we just “have a knowing” about what we need to, without getting too deep or too involved in seeking an answer.

Other times, we might need to take longer and we may even need to fast and pray to get God’s answer for us.

No matter what the situation, God is faithful and we need to be sure to listen for His input.

So as you go through your day today, be sure to remember who’s you are!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-3-1-3

(John 14:15 NKJV)  “If you love Me, keep My commandments.

This is how we show God that we love Him; by hearing His words, listening carefully and carrying them out.

It is the same with all relationships. Husbands and wives, parents and children, best friends, etc., take some time to hear them. Listen carefully and hear the things they would like, and carry them out.

It can be hard to pay attention to the small details with the load that we carry at times, but it is in those small things that we may hear their heart and will make a huge difference as we walk them out and show them we are listening.

Today you maybe longing for someone to hear your heart. Let us pray that our words, our feelings and what we would like to see happen would not be falling on deaf ears, but that they will be heard.

Take action with regard to your relationship today and listen to the one you love and pray that the one you love will listen to you too…Amen!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-29-13

(Proverbs 22:15 NKJV)  Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

Children can do some foolish things sometimes. It’s just in their nature.

As parents, it’s our responsibility to teach them and give them direction and discipline.

God’s word says that the rod of correction will drive foolishness far from them!

You see, children need discipline. It’s a fact. They need to know that Mom and Dad are in charge. Mom and Dad are the boss!

Sadly, today’s society in many countries has changed to the point where it’s not acceptable to discipline children. Parents today are taught that they should be their child’s best friend. Discipline is out. Reasoning and explanations are in.

This is not they way God says it should be done. Just as God disciplines us, His children, we also need to follow God’s word and do the same for our children.

The key in this is to do it with LOVE! Love conquers all and it’s love that opens the hearts of our children and makes it easier for them to listen to us, even when they’re being corrected.

So don’t ever be afraid to be a parent to your children first, and a friend to them second.

God’s word never fails.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-28-13

(Proverbs 11:6 NKJV)  The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, But the unfaithful will be caught by their lust.

Lust – it can be a sexual desire, or an intense longing, a craving, enthusiasm, or eagerness.

The question is, are we lusting after anything today?

Are we lusting after someone’s job/title/position, someones home? We could be lusting after a person, and sometimes we can even lust after someone’s Ministry/Call on their life. Let’s check ourselves today and make sure this is not the case with us.

There is nothing wrong with looking at someone’s life and loving what they did with it. That is not lusting. We can tell when we are lusting after someone or something by how we act and how we feel inside.

If we are feeling jealous, bitter or angry toward them, then we are lusting after what they have, maybe even to the point that we got caught or snagged by it.

This can cause our hearts to be changed, from being focused on what God wants us to do, to becoming consumed with trying to reach a goal, just to get what they have.

This happens every day, all around us. Why? Because we get love and lust confused.

Remember that it is the unfaithful that walk in lust. But the Godly walk in LOVE.

We don’t need to lust after anything in this world. God is more than this world could ever offer, and we have HIM. He lives in us as we give our heart to Him.

Let Love RULE our hearts!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-27-13

(1 John 1:5 NKJV)  This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

In Him there is no darkness at all.

This cannot be said of anyone else. God is light.

He is the source of everything good and everything true. He breathed life into us. He gives us His grace and mercy.

He is our source, our provider, our healer and our redeemer.

He is the author and finisher of our faith. He gives us peace and joy.

He is so much more than all of these things, but please remember one thing; He will never, ever bring confusion, stress or worry into our lives.

So if we’re feeling any of these things, know that these things come from the enemy of our soul, the devil.

Remember this as you make choices and decisions… that if you have peace, it comes from God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-25-13

(Acts 20:35 NKJV)  “I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

I caught onto this early in my childhood life. I loved the way it made me feel to give!

I remember as a child, always wanting to give something to someone. Of course, as children we don’t have a job to make money so we would have to be creative. I would pick flowers from our yard and make little bouquets.

I remember at times taking one of my toys and wrapping it up and giving it away.

One time when I was in high school my best friend loved this one shirt I had, so one day I told her she could have it. The look on her face and the sound in her voice just left me feeling so happy inside.

Now that I am older, I enjoy giving people things even more than receiving. Don’t get me wrong, I love to get little surprises too! But there is something about giving that drives me to keep on doing it.

I’ve learned we don’t have to have a lot of money to give. There are so many other ways.

There are many times when we receive a reply to the Bible Verse of The Day, or letters in the mail that bless us so much just from the wonderful testimonies or things that you share with us. Often times it is just what we needed to help us get through our day!

Giving is a beautiful thing and oh so fulfilling! We should never stop giving. No matter how strapped we are, there is always something we can give.
