Bible Verse of The Day – 12-9-23

Psalm 61:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

How many times do we find ourselves crying out to God in this same way?

“God, can you hear me? I need to know what to do. I need to know how to handle this situation. I need to know what to put on my plate and what to take off. I am so overwhelmed right now, please attend to my prayer.”

I feel like I’m always crying out to God for help.

Sometimes, I sound like a broken record. But, I do this because I have experienced His help many times in my life. There really is no other help like My Rock that is higher than I.

Every time, He has shown me, carried me, held me.

He has led  me through the shadow of death with His rod and staff. He got me to the other side. And I was not destroyed.

Psalm 23:4 (NKJV) 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

He knows, children of God! He has the answer. And no matter how many times we need to cry out for Him, He will be our Rock!

Who is crying today for help? Do you know that your Rock will be there for you? He will take your overwhelmed heart and comfort you.

He is our VICTORY! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-8-23

Romans 1:16-17 (NKJV) 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

The just shall live by faith.

What does that mean, exactly?

First, what is the word, “just”, referring to?

Just is typically used to indicate someone is justified. Justification comes by way of the blood of Christ.

We are redeemed and justified, made clean and whole by the blood of Christ.

To be justified implies that we can stand before God, unashamed, knowing that the blood of Christ has washed us.

Therefore, we are justified in standing before God without fear of retribution because of our washed condition. Our sins have been removed by our faith in Christ and His shed blood.

So, if we have put our faith in Christ, we are just (justified).

And how shall we, the just, live?

By faith.

Our lives are not to be conducted by fleshly, intellectual means.

We are to live and walk by faith.

We do not rely on earthly ways or earthly understanding.

We do not walk in the ways of the world.

We live, breathe, and understand by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

This way of life can take some getting used to. It flies in the face of conventional thinking. But then so does just about everything else that God does.

So, let us not wrestle with God as He guides us and orders our steps.

We may not always understand everything right away. But if we give Him preference, and we trust His leading, we will find ourselves walking a path that’s very different than the path of the world.

And we will grow to love this way of life as we see Him moving in our lives on a regular basis.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-7-23

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Jesus Christ came to earth to lay down His life for us.

He came to demonstrate His Father’s love and the oneness they shared.

Today, as believers, this is what He wants most; for us to know Him and to walk in such love and oneness as He and His Father are one.

We cannot touch Him physically in person today. But by our spirit, we can communicate with Him. And He can touch us and change our hearts without even being physically present.

He will speak to us if we are willing to listen and allow Him to guide us by His spirit and through His word. The Bible teaches us to draw close to Him.

How?

Through cleansing and purifying our hearts and mind by His word.

It is our own fault if we do not know what is happening today in this world, and even in our own personal lives. He will teach us all things if we read His word, listen, and draw close.

We can’t blame Him for anything we don’t know.

It’s not always easy staying close to Him with so many distractions around us.

The atmosphere is  full of heaviness, stress and perversion. But He is faithful to draw near to us if we do our part by staying in His word making a sincere effort to draw near to Him.

This is a reminder today to draw close to the One who laid down His life for us. To continue such a oneness with Him and to show such love toward one another.

1 John 3:16 (NKJV) 16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

We praise You, Lord. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-6-23

Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

He will give you the desires of your heart. That sounds like a great proposition, doesn’t it?

And it is a great proposition!

Like everything, though, we need to understand exactly what is being said, not just what we think is being said.

To get that understanding, we need to look closely at what is said in the first part of the verse. This will help us better understand the last part.

So, if we are being promised that “He shall give you the desires of your heart, in the first part of the verse, what do we have to do for that to happen?

We must delight ourselves in the Lord.

What does it mean to be delighted, or to delight ourselves in someone?

Delighted: captivated, excited, thrilled, elated, euphoric, joyful, etc.

If we are delighting ourselves in Him, everything we do is based on pleasing and satisfying Him.

We put Him first in everything we do. We make choices based on what we know is right according to His word, and what pleases Him, not by what pleases us.

We learn of Him and build a strong relationship with Him, gaining a better understanding of who He wants us to be and what He desires of us.

It is then, when we have learned to put ourselves aside and put Him first, that we will begin to see our desires coming to pass.

Why?

Well, to be honest, it is because our desires have largely changed, lining up more closely with His desires.

As we have allowed our old self to die, and be raised up new in Christ, our desires change. The old desires fall away and begin to align more closely with His desires.

And it is then that we begin to see our desires being fulfilled.

Now, this doesn’t mean that God never gives us desires that are our own. He does.

But when we allow Him to change us, shape us, and mold us, allowing the righteousness of Christ to transform us, we will less frequently desire the things of the world, or the things that are self-gratifying, and we will look more toward the things that glorify Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-5-23

1 Corinthians 13:2 (NKJV) 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

Why we do what we do is key to God.

It really doesn’t matter how special or great we are at what we do. If it is not being done with the right motive, if love is not the foundation of what is motivating such gifts, there is no weight behind it.

We need to be serious about allowing God to lead us in such gifts, understanding, knowledge, and even in our faith.

Love is what will keep these gifts alive and in their proper place. And it will keep us accountable.

Make sure what we are doing is out of sincere love, nothing more and nothing less.

If it’s not, stop it and take some time to let God help us get our heart aligned with His purpose for why we do what we do.

Sometimes it’s just as easy as that; give God the floor to guide us.

Love must be the reason behind it all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-4-23

Luke 9:23 (NKJV) 23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

This verse is one that we hear quoted often. But do we fully understand the implications of it?

Over the centuries, Christianity has become softer, more watered down. It has lost its edge, so to speak, compromising many critical truths to become more palatable to the masses.

This has resulted in a large percentage of believers who know or understand little about some of the most crucial principles of “following Jesus”.

Being a child of God is not intended to be a “cake walk”. It was never meant to be easy and convenient.

Yes, God blesses His children as we obey. He rewards the faithful.

But many of those blessings and rewards do not consist of material things.

Following Jesus has a cost.

Look at what Jesus told His disciples; “if anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself”.

That doesn’t sound much like what some would call your best life now, or Friday every day, does it?

Being a child of the Most High God requires dedication, persistence, faithfulness and a willingness to make sacrifices on our part.

Are we willing to surrender some things to follow Him?

Are we ready to put ourselves last, and others first?

Are we willing to lay down our lives for our faith, denying all other gods, submitting fully to Him?

Are we willing to allow Him to change our heart, so it longs after Him and not after the things of the world?

These are hard questions.

But they are questions we must each consider and answer honestly if we wish to grow and mature as believers, and not just go with the flow.

Jesus spoke these words for a reason, so let us serve Him wholeheartedly, and with a purpose, denying ourselves and following Him wherever He leads.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-2-23

Proverbs 15:23 (NKJV) 23 A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!

Have you ever said something, and as soon as it left your mouth you knew you were in trouble?

Yes…it happens to all of us at one time or another.

It’s called open mouth insert foot syndrome!

It is important for God’s children to be very careful of the words we speak.

If we realized how important our words are, we would give more thought to what we say and how we say it.

Words just seem to come up and out at times when we least expect it. Without even thinking about what we are going to say, they will just fly out.

But we can control them.

That’s right. We really can control our mouth.

It’s not always easy. I am still working on it.

It takes being aware of what is about to come out at all times.

Sometimes I am just tired and “my bucket is full”.

It’s no excuse, I know. But it’s the truth.

When our bucket is full, we need to be more alert and much more attentive to what our mouth is about to speak.

It’s not easy to make sure we say the right thing at the right time. It is my prayer for us all to get better at it, though.

Remember, the next time we must give an answer to a person or situation, joy comes by the answer of our mouth, if the answer we give is the right one!

Give time for the Holy Spirit to move on us before we let our words roll out.

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath…

God, help us give the right answers in due season. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-1-23

Nehemiah 1:4 (NKJV) 4 So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.

Nehemiah was not just a prophet of God, but also a mighty warrior for God who never bowed to fear or any tactics of the enemy.

He also trusted God with everything about his life, no matter what kind of obstacle stood before him.

In the verse above, he had just been told by a Jewish brother about the terrible situation with the Jews who had returned to Jerusalem from exile. And he was also informed about the broken condition of Jerusalem.

The people were in great distress and reproach, and the walls of the city were in ruins.

Nehemiah was in great distress when he learned all of this, so he sat down and wept. And he mourned for many days afterward.

Many people might simply throw their hands up and give up if they heard news like this.

But Nehemiah was a warrior.

Instead of allowing this news to crush his spirit and defeat him, as he mourned for many days, he also fasted and prayed to God.

He not only poured out his heart before God in his brokenness, but he also repented on behalf of his people and sought a solution to this terrible situation.

Instead of drowning in his sorrow, he made a choice to help fix what had been broken.

There are some valuable lessons we can all learn from Nehemiah!

It is always easier to throw in the towel and concede defeat in these kinds of situations. This is why it is important for us to seek God in everything that we face.

God is the Giver of solutions, the One who will shore up a broken spirit, and the Master of rebuilding that which is broken.

We would strongly encourage you to read the book of Nehemiah in its entirety and glean the valuable nuggets of truth that are found there.

It is not only inspirational, but it will also teach us a lot about learning to be steadfast in any battle, even when it may look like we are defeated.

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Let us learn to trust Him and walk in His faithfulness!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-30-23

1 John 5:12 (NKJV) 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

People without Christ live their lives functioning only by their flesh. Their spirit is dead.

When John says they do not have life, he’s referring to the fact that their spirit has not yet been made alive in Christ.

They are not yet living the life God has for them. They are just living in and by the flesh.

That means getting up every day and doing habitual everyday stuff. Our heart remains hard, rebellious and stubborn. It is blind and can’t see past the daily routine. It is in a state of deception as to what life is meant to be.

This is a scary place to be.

God is Spirit and He only communes with our spirit if we have put our faith and trust in His Son, Jesus Christ.

It is then that we are born again, and our spirit is made alive in Him.

A spiritual relationship with God begins as we surrender ourselves and our understanding to Him and begin to follow the teachings of the Word of God.

At first the flesh will fight it. It likes its fleshly lifestyle. It’s old habits bring comfort and familiarity.

But Jesus calls us to come out from the world and its lifestyles, and be separate. It’s then that we experience a life that is fulfilling and meaningful, through surrendering our will and lives to the Holy Spirit!

2 Corinthians 6:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

There is life in trusting Jesus Christ, God’s Son! Amen.
