Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-23 – Keep it Simple

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus.

We hope your walk with God is growing!

We have a question that we’d like to ask today. Are we keeping our walk with God simple?

Making our walk with God complicated can hinder us and keep us from growing as a believer.

In our new video today, Keep it Simple, we discuss the different things that can complicate our walk and prevent us from becoming who God wants us to be.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch it.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

We love you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-30-23

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Give and it will be given to us pressed down, shaken together and running over!  Amen.

Many people today are facing financial struggles. They work so hard to just make ends meet.

Some may only have enough for their bills and to put food on their table.

If we were to check on our neighbors that we think are doing so much better than us, we would probably find that they are going through similar things in one way or another.

We are not alone on this journey. Others are so much worse off. If we only knew.

It’s everywhere. Prices are high, and our money doesn’t go as far as it used to.

We are paying double what we used to pay for things, and working harder and longer hours than ever before.

Trusting God in such times is a test for us all.

But God doesn’t tell us to obey His scripture only when times are good and everything is plentiful.

Where would having faith be in doing that?

It is in times like these we need to press in and continue to do the right thing in trusting Him.

1 Corinthians 1:9 (NKJV) 9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Tithing is the first place people will pull back from if things are getting tight or the pressure is on financially.

We know it’s hard to remain steady when we feel the pinch. It’s how our flesh reacts to such things.

However, tithing is the very practice we need to protect and keep pushing through. It is through our tithes and offerings, and giving out of our need, that will pull us through such hard seasons in our lives.

We can attest to this in our own lives many, many times.

We can’t let fear stop us from trusting God.

Keep sowing where God tells you to. Keep being faithful and obeying His Word.

He will come through and it will be measured back to us according to how we have given!

We who need a job, we who need a home, we who are struggling in our finances, or even in our family; we need a breakthrough and deliverance in some areas of our life.

He will come through, no matter how things look. Keep giving to Him in whatever way He leads you to. Don’t pull back because of what we see.

We walk by faith, not by sight. Stand on those promises in His Word! Amen.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-29-23

Luke 5:16 (NKJV) 16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

Life can get very busy.

We have so many things today that can distract us and pull on us, vying for our attention.

It wasn’t too many years ago that TV stations shut down for the night. They would broadcast from roughly 6 AM until around midnight, then they would cease broadcasting until the next morning.

There was a break in the media that was there for people to consume.

Then, things started changing. TV stations began broadcasting day and night, 24/7.

Cable TV came along and expanded the amount of “entertainment” that was available for people. No longer were people relegated to only two or three stations to choose from. Now there were hundreds.

Around this same time, computers became available in homes. Not everyone could afford one, nor did they need it.

Now, home computers are commonplace. And the Internet is a necessity for many of our most basic needs.

And so the onslaught of never-ending media consumption began.

Those of us who grew up before the advent of home computers, smartphones and social media remember what it was like not having access to devices that constantly clamored, trying every possible tactic to coax us into sitting and staring at the screen for hours at a time.

Nowadays it is a constant battle. We are barraged with noises and the allure of getting “likes” on our social media posts and having more “friends” than we know what to do with.

And after a while it becomes a barrage of madness at levels that can’t be comprehended.

This can take its toll on us.

We lose our quiet time. We lose our privacy. We surrender ourselves to the pursuit of online popularity.

But there needs to come a time when we see the truth of what has happened to our lives.

We need to recognize that we have forfeited our time alone, our time to pull away, our time to keep our sanity intact, and our walk with God strong.

Jesus regularly pulled away and went to a quiet place of solitude to pray. We need to pay attention to the example He set and follow in His footsteps.

Not only do we need to pray, but we also need to disconnect and create a quiet environment where we can gather our thoughts, meditate on His word, and hear God speak to us.

Don’t be afraid to stop everything and shut down. When we do, we will wonder why we didn’t do it sooner.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-28-23

Mark 12:31 (NKJV) 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

There is no other commandment greater than the one telling us to love our neighbor as ourselves.

This kind of love will only come from God. It’s His love that will empower us to love rightly, both ourselves and our neighbor.

Agapao, the verb, and agape, the noun are the words for God’s unconditional love.

There is no need for chemistry, an affinity, or a feeling.

It is unconditional love by choice and by the act of His will. Agape will never seek anything but the highest good for fellow mankind.

It is God’s love!

How do we reach a point in our lives where we are able to love in such a way?

First, it is important to understand that human nature is incapable of loving this way. Humans are inherently self-centered.

We can only love this way by the Spirit of God.

We must live by His Word. His Word will guide us in all our actions.

It’s up to us to read it, to take it in and to follow it as the Holy Spirit leads us to do so.

It is a choice to want to love in such a way. It is a sacrifice, and it takes strength from God to walk out such a great commandment.

It doesn’t come easy. But it is fulfilling when we obey and take the steps we need to take; one step at a time.

Who is God asking us to love today, unconditionally, without having to have feelings toward them?

Be prayerful and obey. He will complete us and equip us to love and do good in such a way.

Let us immerse ourselves in His word and allow the Holy Spirit to lead our actions.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-27-23

Psalm 34:18 (NKJV) 18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

Is your heart broken?

Have you been dealt a blow recently that sent you reeling?

Does it feel like someone has pulled the rug from under your feet, and you’re stumbling, trying to find your footing?

Has the battle you are fighting knocked the wind out of you, leaving you struggling to catch your breath?

Does it feel like your heart has been shattered into pieces, and you will never be whole again?

Being brokenhearted is never a good feeling. It can make us feel as though we want to curl up and die, surrendering to whatever situation we are facing.

It can cause us to feel like hope is lost, with no chance of ever finding it again.

But we need to remember Who we belong to.

Sometimes we need someone to shake us and wake us up, so we don’t let our desperation take over and cause us to abandon our faith.

We will all face trials in our lives. But we also need to remember that we have a Redeemer who wants to walk us through those trials, bringing us out victoriously on the other side.

The question is, “will we let Him?”.

God tells us that He is near to the brokenhearted. And Jesus told us in Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted”.

Do we not know how powerful His love is to heal us when our heart is broken?

Let us trust Him to bring healing to our broken heart.

Let us not keep Him at arm’s length, pushing Him away when He is trying to bring us healing and renew our hope.

For there is none like Him. And there is no one who can make us whole, as He can.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-26-23

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The devil is a thief.

He will steal. He will try to bring death and completely destroy whatever he can.

But praise the Lord, Jesus came that we may have life!

It seems like we often concern ourselves with the wrong things; our careers, our home, our friends, our appearance, our food, our finances, etc.

We can stress and wear ourselves out over these things.

What if we told you that a lot of what concerns us is not anything we need to worry about? Would you believe it?

Let’s look at what Jesus has to say about these things.

Matthew 6:25 (NKJV) 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

There is more to life than these things. But we find ourselves worried about them more than anything else. The enemy wants them to consume us.

When these things concern us greatly, we are not trusting God. Our life is passing us by and we are missing out on great opportunities.

Colossians 3:2-3 (NKJV) 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

We need to ask ourselves how much time we spend thinking and concerned about our walk with God.

If we were half as concerned about our relationship with Him as we are with our earthly cares, and we made the necessary changes in our hearts, we wouldn’t be so quick to worry or be concerned about these things.

Wait. Do you mean He will just take care of them for us?

I’ll let Him speak to you Himself.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

This doesn’t mean that we simply sit back, do nothing, and wait for Him to drop everything in our laps.

The key is to concern ourselves with, and seek after Him, more than anything else. In that we will find our answers.

Our true happiness and stability will come as we follow Him. That’s when our life will come together!  Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-25-23

Luke 2:49 (NKJV) 49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?

Mary and Joseph were spending time in Jerusalem for the Passover celebration, as they did each year.

When the celebration was over, Mary and Joseph made ready and joined a group of others who were on their way back home.

As was the custom of that time, they traveled in groups of relatives and friends. This made it easier for everyone as they helped each other with the various tasks required to travel safely.

Because they were traveling in a group, they assumed that Jesus, who was 12 years old at the time, had gathered with them and was among them as they began their trip home.

It was only after being on the road for a full day that they discovered Jesus wasn’t in their group!

Luke 2:44 (NKJV) 44 but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances.

When they realized He wasn’t there, Mary and Joseph returned immediately to Jerusalem and sought Him.

With the city being large, and still very full of people, it took them 3 days to find Him. And when they did, He was sitting in the temple amid the teachers, listening and asking questions of the teachers and elders.

Mary and Joseph were likely distraught after spending more than 3 days not knowing where He was. And as they approached Him, they asked, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously”.

At their questioning, Jesus replied, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”.

And so it should be with you and me.

We should be about our Father’s business.

We should be spending our days learning of Him, drawing near to Him and obeying Him.

The world may not understand us when we do this. They may shun us. They may label us a fanatic. They may persecute us.

But what the world thinks of us doesn’t matter.

What does matter is that we please our Father, pursuing Him above all else.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-23-23

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

What “all” things can we do? The things that God asks us to do.

This is how we show God that we are sincere in our commitment to Him. Our hearts obey His word.

John 14:15 (NKJV) 15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.

We get rid of those nasty habits, and we begin to live, walk and breathe in making righteous decisions. It is when we walk by faith in obedience to His word that we will become strong.

Yes, there will be sacrifices to be made. Yes, there will be new things to learn. Yes, there will be a feeling of discomfort at times.

But, in and through it all, there will be His peace, His presence and His rewards. It will be worth every bit of effort we put forth.

Can we do this on our own?

Honestly, fighting our own desires can be the hardest thing to accomplish. But, we are not alone in this fight.

God has sent us a Helper. This Helper knows all about the fleshly battle that we war against as a believer. He knows how to defeat it. He knows what we need to do. And yes, He will willingly abide with us forever!

John 14:16 (NKJV) 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—

Have a blessed day. And remember, it’s through Christ we are made strong. WE need Him!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-22-23

James 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

This verse is well known, as it speaks to prayers availing much!

One of the key words in this verse is the word, fervent. That word is critical for us to understand regarding prayer, but also in our walk with God as a whole.

Let’s look at what fervent means, so we can be sure to understand it properly in its context here.

At first glance, many mistakenly believe that praying fervently means to pray repeatedly. But this is not the true definition.

Fervent: Exhibiting passion, zeal, conviction, enthusiasm, intensity of spirit, burning, very hot.

Some similar words might be ardent, earnest, intense, devout, heartfelt, impassioned, or fiery.

Nowhere can it be found that fervent means repetition.

A search of the entire Bible finds ten uses of the word, fervent.

Only one of them is in the Old Testament, in Proverbs 26:23, which speaks of fervent lips spreading evil talk.

Every other use of the word in the New Testament speaks directly of our walk with God, prayer, our love for others, and the fervent heat with which God will melt everything away on “the day of the Lord”.

And so should we pursue God fervently, pray fervently, and love fervently.

Let us do these things with such passion that there is no room for anything else in us but a burning desire to know God and please Him as we walk out this life here on earth, ultimately looking to our final, eternal destiny, living forever in His incredible, holy presence.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-21-23

Psalm 34:18 (NKJV) 18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit

I don’t claim to understand death.

But what I have experienced is that death is just as much a part of life as living. We are all going to face it one day, in one way or another.

I just want to share my heart today with you, in hopes that it might help someone who is going through a hard time due to losing a loved one, or maybe we are facing a terminally ill situation ourself.

Just the word, death, is hard to hear. It’s not pleasant to talk about.

When it hits, it leaves behind emptiness, pain, and sorrow, often causing us not to know what to do or how to move forward.

When death comes, everything changes for a season.

Our confidence, comfort, and the joy we once walked in seem to have left. It can be hard to even smile or laugh.

The truth is, it’s hard no matter who we are.

When we lose a dear one, someone who has been there, someone we had a relationship with, someone we loved, cared for and looked forward to seeing, it’s shocking to our system. We suddenly cannot find them.

It is overwhelming to our minds that they are gone; no longer to be found or heard in the other room, or seen where they enjoyed being everyday.

Just like that, their life as a human being on this earth has ended.

Yes, we will mourn.

We will go through a season of adjusting to life without them.

We will feel many emotions. And some days we will wonder if we will make it without them.

We will even ache deep within, as we adjust to the change.

If I can help just one person today. I want to say to you, “take it one day at a time”. Don’t go any further than that.

No one expects you to be someone one you’re not.

Some days will be so hard to keep going. But if we put one foot in front of the other, over time, we will adjust to the loss, and better days will come.

After a while, that ache will turn into joy from the beautiful memories we had with them. And we will thank God for those treasured times we spent together!

He knows what we will go through. He is near and will save us. He will help restore our broken heart and bring peace to us once again.

Go now, and rejoice today, for the Lord has conquered death. And those who believe in Him will not die, but live forever.

As for those who we have lost? Their story is just continuing in paradise, and we will meet up again!

Amen. Pastor Curt & Pastor Ellie
